Stampin’ UP! Stitched Blooms Country Cottage Sneak Peek Fun Fold Birthday Card

Good morning and happy happy Fri-YAY!!  Yup – just one more day at work and then it’s the weekend!   AND – today and tomorrow are the last days to take advantage of our super Joining Special!  It’s your chance to get an EXTRA $50 in Stampin’ Rewards (aka – FREE money!) from Stampin’ Up! when you purchase your Starter Kit and join the team!  But – when all the little ghosties and ghoulies are all sugar-crashed and tucked up tomorrow night…it’ll be gone!  And THAT is scary!

Today’s card is NOT scary – not in the slightest!  It’s a Z-fold card – with a twist!  I decorated it with some new Online Exclusive goodies – coming on 3 Nov!  Pretty Country Cottage DSP sets the stage for a garden of flowers from the Stitched Blooms bundle!  Take a look-see:

I learned a little technique for cutting the angled DSP panels from a video from Jackie Bolhuis!

I started with an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Secret Sea cardstock.  Using a pencil, I made a mark 3″ from the top of the long edge on one short side and 3″ from the BOTTOM of the long edge on the opposite short side.  Then, using a Paper Trimmer, I cut from one mark to the other – creating two diagonal card bases.

I scored the card base at 3″ and 6 3/4″ and folded it as a Z-fold card.

I cut a few panels of the new Country Cottage DSP (available on 3 Nov).  Each diagonal is made in the same way.

For the back panel, I started with a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ piece of Secret Sea woodgrain Country Cottage DSP.

I placed the panel on the back section of the card base – leaving a normal (and equal) reveal on the left and right sides.  Then I slid the panel up until the top right corner of the DSP was touching the top edge of the card base on the high side.  Note: I used a different DSP for the photos so you could see it more easily.

Holding the panel in place (or use some temporary adhesive to help keep it still) – I turned the whole thing over and used Detail Scissors to trim the excess DSP.  Note: I turned the panel over for the photo – once again to make it easier to see.

With the DSP angle cut, I adhered it to the back panel with Liquid Glue.

I repeated the process for the front panel – starting with a 2 7/8″ x 3 1/2″ piece of DSP.

And – one more time for the middle panel on the BACK side of the card base – starting with a 3 5/8″ x 4 3/8″ piece of flowerdy Country Cottage DSP.

For the inside sentiment – on the middle section of the card base – I used the same method to cut a 3 5/8″ x 4 3/8″ piece of Basic White cardstock.

I stamped a Stitched Blooms sentiment (coming 3 Nov) in Secret Sea ink.  In the corner, I stamped a large stem/leaves image from the set – using stamped-off-once Peaceful Pine for the fill image and full-strength for the detailed image. I stamped two flowers – using stamped-off-once Crisp Cantaloupe for the fill and full strength for the detailed image.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the panel to the inside of the card base.

For the pretty flowers on the front – I used the images (all stamped on Basic White cardstock) and dies in the Stitched Blooms set to cut everything out:

– The larger flower fill image in stamped-off-once Golden Glow and the detailed image in full strength Golden Glow and cut it out with its die.

– The smaller flower detailed image in full strength Hydrangea Hue, added a flower center in Golden Glow ink, and cut it out with its die.

– The large stem/leaves image in stamped-off-once Peaceful Pine and the detailed image in full strength Peaceful Pine.  I added a flower center in Golden Glow ink and cut it out with its die.

– A larger flower from Golden Glow 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Paper (see how it “stitches” the die cut?!?).

– A smaller flower from Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.

– Three small flowers from Barely Blush 2026-2028 In Color Pearlized Paper.

– Two large leaves from the DARK side of Peaceful Pine Two-tone Cardstock.

– Two small leaves from the LIGHT side of Peaceful Pine Two-tone Cardstock.

– Two bough images in Peaceful Pine and cut them out with the coordinating die.

– And I cut a couple of little pieces of “bough” from one of the two die cuts to use with the small Barely Blush flowers.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the larger stem/leaves image and the remaining bough to the front panel.  Then I added the two stamped flowers, the Golden Glow Pearlized Paper flower and the Crisp Cantaloupe flower with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tucked the leaves under the flowers, securing them with Liquid Glue.  Then I added the Barely Blush flowers with Liquid Glue – adding two little pieces of bough to two of them.

I tied a bow from white Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a little Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Basic White cardstock, I stamped a Stitched Blooms sentiment in Secret Sea and cut it out the Three Banner Punch.  I adhered it over the bow with stacked Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a Golden Glow 2026-2028 In Color Dot to each of the little Barely Blush flowers and the card was done!

My Basic White Medium Envelope got the larger Peaceful Pine stem/leaves and Crisp Cantaloupe flowers on the front…

…and more Country Cottage DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Wow.  I knew I was going to like the Stitched Blooms set but…I didn’t realize how MUCH!  I love love love the stamped flowers – the two-step images are beautiful and so fun to make and use to build…collages!!  Add the dies that cut the flowers and leaves – with stitching! – plus the as-yet-un-played-with thread and needles and scissors and embroidery hoops and…we’re talking projects galore – with a variety of sentiments to go with!  This isn’t the first appearance of the gorgeous Country Cottage DSP and it for sure will not be the last.  It’s wonderful!

I hope you like and are anxiously counting down to 3 Nov when you can grab it all for yourself!! 🙂

A person just can’t leave their chair in the evening.

At least – I can’t. 😂

Glad she’s little enough to not really be able to enforce that possession-is-90%-of-the-law thing!
