Good morning, y’all! It’s 7am. Sort of. More like 6am. Or is it?
I LOVE Daylight Savings Time. I hope and wish for this to be THE time year-round. Long evenings with that perfect summer light. I wait and anticipate the return of DST every winter! I do, however, hate changing back and forth.
In fact, apparently I hate it so much that for the first time…ever?!? – I totally spaced changing my clocks on Saturday night. I ALWAYS change them before I go to bed. Especially for the Spring forward time change.
Not this year. Got up on Sunday at my normal time of 430 (thank you, Katy) – and made my coffee, fed the braticus, let the dog out and back in. Sat down in my chair with my coffee and turned on the tv. And saw the clock on the DVR. My confusion was….extreme. HOW did it take me an entire HOUR to do the things that take me 15 minutes EVERY SINGLE DAY!?
And then…I realized what I’d done. Or…hadn’t done. And BOOM. Just like that – I lost an hour of the day!
Worst. Feeling. Ever. 🙁
I was behind the whole rest of the day.
But – I did finally get a card made for y’all! Yeah!! And – it’s a combination of some old and some new. Daisy Lane, with both Daisy Punches, plays well with the Ornate Layers Dies and some Ornate Garden Specialty DSP (remember these are coming in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog – and you’re going to get your hands on them early on 1 April!). Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And – I liked it for the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge, too!

I started with some of the new Ornate Garden Specialty DSP that I matted on Mint Macaron for the card front.
The Whisper White panel is cut using one of the dies in the new Ornate Layers Die set. See it there? Right in the middle of the bottom set. That’s the one I used!

I ran it thru the die cutting machine three times to create the three shapes in the sketch.
Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and onto the card front.

Using the leaves in the Nature’s Thoughts die set from the new Coordination Product Release, I cut three “feathers” – two in Old Olive and one in Mint Macaron.
On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the large daisy from the Daisy Lane set in stamped-off-once Terracotta Tile and cut it with the Daisy Punch. I stamped two of the small daisy in stamped-off-TWICE Terracotta Tile – and cut them with the Medium Daisy Punch.

Using my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Combo Pack, I colored the daisies and then adhered them together with Liquid Glue.
On another piece of Whisper White, I stamped a sentiment from Daisy Lane in Old Olive. Then I cut it with the next-to-smallest rectangle die in the Stitched So Sweetly Die set.

I laid out the elements on my card front until it said “yep – THERE it is” – and took a picture.

To make it easier to put it all together, I picked up my daisy and sentiment and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

Then I put all the pieces together onto the card front. I used Liquid Glue to adhere the Old Olive feathers….errr leaves. Then some Glue Dots for a length of Mint Macaron twine from the Nature’s Twine pack. Then I added the Mint Macaron leaf/feather with a couple of Dimensionals.

The final piece was to add the flower/sentiment combination element with some Dimensionals.
I used a few of the new Gilded Gems (from the Ornate Garden Suite) – a large one in the middle of the flower and several more here and there – and the card front was done!

Oh – did you see that? It’s a cool little doohickey for holding up cards! We all got one at the Spring STAMPede event on Saturday!

3-D Printing. Cool, huh?? Thanks, Sandra Hernandez!! 🙂
Anywho…on the inside, I added a second sentiment from Daisy Lane in Old Olive on a Whisper White panel. Across the bottom I added a strip of Mint Macaron card stock and another strip of the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP. Then I added another Gilded Gem.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into my Terracotta Tile card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another daisy on the front – in full-strength Terracotta Tile…

…and more of the Ornate Garden Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! Daisy Lane is a perfect harbinger of SPRING!! And – just right for the first real day of DST! I love that we can punch TWO sizes of the pretty daisies. And it’s really looking like the elements in the Ornate Garden Suite will not only work together perfectly but will ALSO work well with so many of our much-loved stamp sets and goodies! I hope you like!
