Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Vintage Leaves

Well, it’s Friday, y’all!  We made it!  Hope you’re ready for a fun weekend.  I’ve got my traditional pre-trip hair cut for tomorrow and then….if nothing changes….I head to the airport on Sunday.

Bleh.

Let me repeat….B. L. E. H.

But – for now…let’s take a look at the card I made on Thursday as my end-of-day stress reliever!  I used one of my all-time favorite sets – the Vintage Leaves and added a Painted Harvest sentiment.  Take a look-see:

This layout was inspired by the sketch challenge at the Paper Craft Crew.

It also plays nicely with the challenge from The Paper Players.

I made the card front from a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Using the little splotches image from the Timeless Textures stamp set, I stamped around in the top corner with Crumb Cake ink.  Then I ran the panel thru the Big Shot in my Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF.

With my sponge, I lightly burnished the raised wood grain with Cajun Craze.  Tip – use your – previously inked – dry sponge.  Don’t add any more ink.  It makes it easier to stay on top of the grain.  I also flicked the edges of the panel.

The panel is matted on a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock.

I adhered a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon down the side with some liquid Glue.  Then I made leaves!

This is the stained glass technique.  First I stamped two smaller flowers on a piece of Vellum card stock in Early Espresso.

And let them dry.  It takes a while, folks.  Be patient.  Or…give them a little hit with your Heat Tool!

While those dried, I rubbed another piece of Vellum card stock with my Embossing Buddy and stamped the large leaf in Versamark, sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.

I colored the leaves by turning them over – and coloring the back! – with my Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Markers.  I used the darker colors to highlight the veins in the leaves and then filled them in with the lighter colors.  When that was dry…I cut them out with the matching dies in the Leaflets Frameltis.

I curled the leaves lightly with a stylus then used Dimensionals behind the large leaf (and a little Liquid Glue on the stem) to adhere it to the card front.  Then I added the smaller leaves over top – with just a small line of Liquid Glue down the center and the stem.

The sentiment, from Painted Harvest, is stamped on Very Vanilla in Cajun Craze ink.  Then I tore around the sentiment and flicked the torn edges with a Crumb Cake sponge.  I also crumpled up the sentiment a couple of times to vintage-ize it a little and then popped it over the leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final pieces are a Linen Thread bow (make multiple loops and tie a thread around the middle) and a few Pumpkin Pie Enamel Shapes.

On the inside, I added a couple of the smaller leaves in Early Espresso and colored them with my Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie markers.  I also added some Timeless Textures Crumb Cake spotches and flicked the edges with the Cajun Craze sponge.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Pumpkin Pie mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Vintage Leaves and Timeless Textures on the front…

…and I embossed the flap in the Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF and burnished it with the Cajun Craze sponge.

Et Voila!  Some Vintage Leaves with an assist from Painted Harvest.  And, of course, the wonderful Pinewood Planks Dynamic TIEF!  All with some subtle color from the stained glass technique on Vellum.  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Blessed by Paisleys & Posies

Happy Saturday, y’all!  I had a bit of an awakening on Friday.  I realized I’m pretty behind on making Thanksgiving cards.  I’ve got buckets and tons of Christmas Cards, and a pretty hefty pile of Halloween Cards, but….I’m short Thanksgiving Cards.  So…hang on to your hats – I’m in make-up mode!

One little Finn update.  Went to the vet today to get weighed (him – not me!!) so we could get the right sized Heartworm medicine.  You may remember – back when Finn first came to live with us….

finn-in-the-water
…he was already a big boy at 34 pounds.  Well, just a month later at almost 6 months old (and a week away from his tutoring 🙁 )…he’s 42 pounds!  He’s a weed!

And I need to show you a cute picture….

finn-helping-put-away-the-silver
That’s him plopped between me and the cabinet while I was unloading silver from the dishwasher.  Not earth shattering – it just made me chuckle! 🙂

My card for today is for Thanksgiving.

About time, Mary!

I used the Paisleys & Posies stamp set – added some Copper-embossed Vintage Leaves – and backed it all up with Petals & Paisleys DSP.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Leaflets, Petals, Paisleys & Posies….Oh My!

Happy Sunday, y’all!  I hope that your weekend is going well – maybe getting ready for the onslaught of little ghoulies and ghosties on Monday night?  We don’t get trick or treaters here – which I really kind of miss.  I enjoyed them coming by way back “in the day” when we lived in a neighborhood – our 1/3 mile driveway with a gate sort of puts kids off!  Although it would make for a heck of a Haunted Hay Ride! 🙂

I also hope you’re getting all ready to buy some Designer Paper and take advantage of my Ordering Special – the sale and the special both go away tomorrow night!  Read on down for the details….

We had a great day on Saturday – took Finn over for another playdate with Scout.  He had so much fun with her and the other dogs!  And he thinks Scout is the bees knees.

Why do people say bees knees?  I don’t even think bees have knees and if they do, why would they be any better than anyone else’s knees?  Why not “the elephant’s knees”?  Or…the “anteater’s knees”?  Things that make you say….hmmmmm…

But I digress.  Finn loves Scout and she thinks he’s pretty cool, too!

finn-and-scout
After we got some lunch, we took him with us to get feed.  First time at the Tractor Supply store – and he had a great time!  Met folks who petted him.  Sat down and politely accepted the treat the cashier gave him.  Sniffed every flavor of dog food and treats that were on the bottom shelves.

And got two new toys!!  Cuz….what’s the fun of going to the store if you don’t get a new toy? Or two!?

He’s an awfully good boy!

So, we all had a big day and he’s sleeping now while I share my card with you.  If you remember a couple weeks back I shared the October Paper Pumpkin cards….

october-pp-2-stamps-n-lingers
…and said I was going to make another shaker card using my leftover sequins from the kit and some Vintage Leaves.  Well, today’s the day!  I used the Leaflets Framelits and the sentiment from Paisleys & Posies.  And added a little Petals & Paisleys DSP….and the Petal Burst TIEF.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Petal Burst Peace

Monday Monday.  Again again.  Hmm.  It’s no wonder that wasn’t the song lyric…

This morning, my card share is so easy and so simple.  And when something is this simple and easy to do, one needs to execute it perfectly.  Or – since there’s no such thing as “perfect” (well, except for the Fifth Element, of course!), as close to perfect as we mere mortals can achieve.  Which…sometimes makes it nearly impossible to do at all!

About a 1000 years ago, before color tv and….gasp!….cell phones…I rode American Saddlebred horses.  I thought they were the most beautiful thing on the planet.  Still do!  Anyway – I rode Saddleseat Equitation – and when we’d go to horse shows, the competition was about the rider – not the horse.  At that time – and probably still, even though she’s gone to the great show ring in the sky – the acknowledged Queen of Saddleseat Equitation was Helen Crabtree.

In her book, she told of one of the thousands of riders she judged at horse shows who, when directed to approach her and tell her what she planned to do (everyone had to go execute a maneuver – all by themselves – at one end of the arena) trotted up (on her perfectly trained, $10,000 horse, heels perfectly down, chin up, hands in the exact right position) and informed the judge that she was going to…

“…go to the end of the arena and execate a figure oot.” 😉

Of course she meant execute a figure eight.  One of the most simple and straightforward of the possible maneuvers.  The poor kid was no doubt trying to speak past the cotton mouth nerves of being the center of attention in the giant arena.

And no  – that wasn’t me!

Why tell this story?  Cuz…this card today is the card equivalent of a figure eight at the end of the arena.  The biggest difference is that this isn’t impossible to do at all – it’s super easy!  It calls on Vintage Leaves, the Petal Burst TIEF, and the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.  Very Vanilla and Night of Navy.  A little copper.  And that’s it.

Simple.  Elegant.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves & Pines for the Fall/Halloween Blog Hop

14191940_10210720964928554_1945697424832510820_n

Mornin’, y’all – welcome to another Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop. We’re doing a Theme Hop and today celebrates the arrival of Fall and Halloween!  That kind of leaves things wide open, so I’m betting you’ll see all sorts of projects today.   Do take the time to check them all out when you’re done here! 🙂

My ode to Fall has fall leaves – courtesy of Vintage Leaves and the matching Leaflets Framelits – and pine boughs and cones from Christmas Pines and the coordinating Pretty Pines Thinlits.  It gave me a card that really represents Fall at my house!  We’ve got pine trees and oaks and poplars and maples – so we have a good mix of green and fall colors when everything starts to change.  Take a look-see:

I based my design on the sketch from Mojo Monday this week.  Sketch #465:

mm-465-sketch
You can see I flipped the sketch upside down…

I started by embossing a Crumb Cake panel in the Woodgrain TIEF and SNAILing it to a Crushed Curry mat.  Over that is a Crumb Cake rectangle embossed in the Petal Burst TIEF.  Before I ran it thru the Big Shot, I inked up the embossing side of the folder with Versamark and then laid my card stock in, and embossed it.  When I pulled it out, I sprinkled Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder over it and heated it up.  That put Copper in all the spaces between the embossed petals!

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-1-stamps-n-lingers
I rounded the corners with my Project Life Corner Punch and then matted it on a Crushed Curry mat – which had been rounded with the Envelope Punch Board.  I SNAILd that to the card front.

I then wrapped a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, a length of Rich Razzleberry 3/8″ Ribbon from the Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog.  Finally, I wrapped some Gold Baker’s Twine around three times – securing it all in the back with scotch tape.

Next came pine boughs, cut with the Pretty Pines Thinlits.  I cut some from Old Olive and some from Always Artichoke, and adhered them with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-3-stamps-n-lingers
I made three Vintage Leaves – stamping them in Versamark Ink on Very Vanilla.  Then I sprinkled the two oak leaves with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and the maple with Gold.  After I heat embossed them, I sponged them with Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzelberry inks.  Then I cut them with their matching Leaflets Framelits!  I gathered their stems together, adhering them into the shape I wanted with Liquid Glue and then adhering them over the pine boughs.

I cut a “ribbon” from Rich Razzleberry card stock and adhered it to the top of the leaf cluster.  Then I cut a Pretty Pines pine cone from Copper Foil and added that.  Next came a Mini Pinecone embellishment and a double bow of Gold Baker’s Twine – both adhered with Glue Dots.

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-8-stamps-n-lingers
Finally, I made a sentiment leaf.  I first stamped the leaf in Tangerine Tango (stamped off once) on Very Vanilla and sponged it with some Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry.  The sentiment, from Endless Thanks, is stamped in Early Espresso.  I cut it with the matching Leaflets, and nestled it into the leaves with Liquid Glue.

I added three Rich Razzleberry small round Enamel Shapes to the side of the card front, and it was done!

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-2-stamps-n-lingers

On the inside. I stamped the same Vintage Leaves leaf that I’d used for the sentiment in stamped off TWICE Tangerine Tango in the center of a Very Vanilla panel.  I quickly made a sticky note mask and masked the leaf, then I stamped a pine bough cluster from Christmas Pines – the first image is in stamped off TWICE Always Artichoke and the second is in stamped off TWICE Old Olive.  Then I added a second Endless Thanks sentiment in Early Espresso.

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-5-stamps-n-lingers
I cut another – smaller – Pretty Pines ribbon from Rich Razzleberry and adhered it to the panel.  Then I SNAILd it to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Rich Razzleberry card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done! 🙂

For my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I repeated the stamped off twice leaf and pine boughs – re-using my sticky note mask! – on the front of the envelope, in the exact way I’d done it for the inner liner…

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and on the envelope flap, I used the card stock from which I’d cut the Pretty Pines boughs as stencils, and added some Old Olive and Always Artichoke boughs with my Stampin’ Sponges!

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  This one marries up a couple of my very favoritest bundles – Vintage Leaves and Leaflets and Christmas Pines and Pretty Pines!  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves, Pines and Paisleys for Thanksgiving!

Made it to another weekend – my, how time does seem to fly!  Is it because I’m getting older…or is it because I have company coming in 27 days?  Or…what do y’all think?  I mean, seriously – it feels like I’m gonna blink and it’s going to be Christmas!

In 2025!! 🙂  Sheesh.

So today’s card is probably going to annoy you guys a little – cuz I called on my new favoritest stamp and Thinlit set – the Christmas Pines bundle from the 2016 Holiday catalog.  I can’t help it very much, y’all – I just flat love this set.  So…I’m gonna use it!  I did combine it with another great set – the Vintage Leaves stamp set and Leaflets Framelits.  And, once again, the new Paisleys & Posies stepped in to give me a sentiment.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Give Thanks Today for All Things and a Happy Stampers Blog Hop

images
Happy Thanksgiving, my friends!  I hope this post finds you well, and surrounded by your family and friends.  And that your turkey thawed! 😉  I recall one quite memorable Thanksgiving many many years ago, when the turkey did not thaw, no matter what heroic efforts my parents attempted.  These days, the options for dinner on Thanksgiving are many, but back in the dark ages when this took place….not so much.  Denny’s was the only option.  And they were out of turkey!  Perhaps that’s the year I developed a taste for not-turkey on Thanksgiving – and on Christmas, too, for that matter.  Whatever your choice for dinner – I hope that preparations are well under way!

The Happy Stamper Ladies-Who-Hop have gathered their projects to share with you this Thanksgiving Thursday.  I know they’ve all worked hard to bring wonderful cards to you, so be sure to cruise thru all of their blogs, okay?

Here’s our design inspiration – this week was a sketch challenge!

1002368_1282828098410429_1158247532917635064_n

My share is a conglomeration of the old and the new.  I used the wonderful For All Things, Vintage Leaves, Lighthearted Leaves and a soon-to-be-released 2016 Occasions Catalog set called Apple of My Eye (we ALL got one of these at OnStage Live – it was quite cool!!).  Take a look-see:

sigh….my lighting solutions are just not working all that well, and I’m so sorry.  I really thought the light I ordered would do the trick, but…. 🙁 Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Leaflets and Vintage Leaves and a Golden Thanks

Well, somehow…someway…we’re back at Monday!  I hope that y’all made it thru the time-warp that is the weekend.  We made it just fine – had a nice time with some friends on Saturday evening at their annual bonfire.  Beautiful evening and good friends.  Even made driving home in the dark (something we don’t do a lot of!) very much worth it! 🙂

My share today is inspired by a design from Freshly Made Sketches.  Their sketch #209 is very clean and simple and elegant.  Head over and take a gander when you get a shot.

FMS 209 Sketch

I saw a lovely card that Mary Fish made with this design – check it out here.  I love her card!  And wanted to use some of the elements in a card of my own.

This one is a Thank You card, using the Leaflets Framelits dies and Vintage Leaves (one of my best bundle buys EVER!).  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Lighthearted Leaves for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!

11960226_1268896359803603_8583437756952711798_n

Good Blog-Hop-Thursday-Morning to y’all!  I hope you’re ready for some beautiful projects from all the Ladies-Who-Hop.  This week was a color challenge….

12046689_1271122759580963_3978183749556588717_n

Perfect perfect perfect colors for Fall cards – so, I know that everyone is going to just “wow” the socks off of us all.  If you’re not wearing socks – I’ll wait while you go put some on.  It’s Fall!  And getting chilly.  You’ll catch your death of cold without socks on!

Anywhooo….before I share my project with you today, I’d like to introduce you to a little dude that we came upon whilst putting the horses out last night.  By the way – the night was so perfectly beautiful – you could smell the leaves on the ground, a little woodsmoke and perhaps someone burning a few leaves.  Just cool enough for a light jacket.  If you Googled “Fall in GA” – last night would have come up!  Just wonderful!

Yikes – off on a tangent again!  Here’s the little dude:

Leetle Frog on the Gate! - Stamps-N-Lingers

According to Google – that’s a Cope’s Gray Tree Frog.  He’s just tiny – not as long as the fingers on my hand.  As opposed to the fingers on my foot?  Sheesh, Mare.  He stayed right there while we put the horses out thru the gate he was resting on, and shut said gate.  Must have been just chilly enough to make him sleepy – his little eyes were at half-mast and kept blinking like – “what?  Huh?  I’m the same color as this smooth tree I’m on. Why can you see me?”.  I love how he’s got his little frog-hands and frog-feet all tucked up under him!

So, now that you’ve met him, let’s talk cards – since that’s why you’re here!  My Blog Hop share uses the beautiful Lighthearted Leaves, a sentiment from Watercolor Wishes and my very favorite thing….the Woodland TIEF.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Meets Seasonal Frame!

Good morning, y’all!  When you read this, I’ll be on the way to spend a day crafting and carding and playing and eating and (hopefully!!) winning a prize or two!  Wish you could all come – I read someone was flying in from San Diego!  Yikes! 🙂

Now, today’s card is going to look awfully familiar.  That’s cause I used the same sketch challenge as my starting point that I used yesterday.  Normally, I wouldn’t do that.  But, when I first saw the sketch a couple days back, I actually had two card pictures get into my head.  So, I’m doing the one I didn’t do yesterday today.  Saturday.

So, this design was also inspired by Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #288.  Be sure to go over and check them out!

SSSC 288

For this one, I started with Into the Woods DSP as my color scheme launching point.  And I used just one TIEF – the Woodland TIEF.  For my sentiment, I used a die from the Seasonal Frame Thinlits.  And, of course, some Vintage Leaves.  You can see it’s going to go in a completely different direction than the All Ye Faithful card.  Take a look-see:
