HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop!  Today’s hop is all about color.  So, it’ll be interesting to see how all the Ladies-Who-Hop interpret that challenge for you!  I hope you’ll spend some time scrolling thru all their offerings today!

Here’s our colors – some of my favorites!

I used one of my favorite-est stamps – the beautiful Merry Medley background stamp – and more of the Santa’s Sleigh Stamp set and matching Thinlits Christmas trees to make a serene and non-traditional Christmas card.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Jar of Cheer and Pines!

Welcome to Monday, y’all!  I sure hope your weekend was wonderful and that you got all your Christmas cards mailed and your gifts wrapped and your baking done.

Just like I did.

ROFLMHO!!

I wish I got all those things done this weekend.  Here’s what I did get done:

christmas-tree
With actual ornaments!  Last year, I got home so close to Christmas that all we did was put the tree up.  Which is really all I need – I love the white lights even all by themselves!  But…I must say it’s always fun to pull out the ornaments and see the ones that we’ve gathered up together over the years.

Finn was….gobsmacked!

He was outside doing important dog work when we put it up.  He came flying around the corner – he pretty much flies everywhere – and came to an abrupt and skidding stop when he saw the lit tree!  He really didn’t know what to think of it! 🙂

I’m sure he’ll figure out that he’s supposed to raid the tree and take ornaments off of it – he’s smart that way!

My card for today uses the pretty Jar of Cheer stamp set – on the retiring list, so grab it while you can if you don’t have it already – and my favorite embossing folder ever…the Pine Bough TIEF.  I sure hope Stampin’ Up! changes their mind about retiring this one. 🙁  I also added a few Pretty Pines embellishments.  Take a look-see:

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-4-stamps-n-lingers
This one played along with a few challenges.  The first, from CAS(E) This Sketch, informed the layout.

cts-201-sketch
The color palette hails from this week’s challenge at The Paper Players:

pp325-sketch
Just Us Girls had a Trend Week challenge:

jugs-373-sketch
Finally, I was inspired by the beautiful picture in the Fusion – It’s Christmas challenge.

fusion-its-christmas-sketch
Whew! 🙂

So.  I started by running a Whisper White panel thru the Big Shot twice in the Pine Bough TIEF.  Then I brushed all the embossed images with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for a little shine.  I SNAILd it on a Silver Foil mat.

My jar – from Jar of Cheer – began when I heat embossed the candle image in Gold.  Then, around that, I heat embossed the jar and “threads” in Silver.  Finally, I cut it out with the matching die from the Everyday Jars Framelits.

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-1-stamps-n-lingers
I colored the flame and leaves with my Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and the candle itself and berries with my Clear Wink.  I wrapped some Gold Baker’s Twine around the top of the jar, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I popped the jar on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits – I cut one from Gold Foil and two from Whisper White, and used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to stack them up – and to adhere it on the card front.

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-3-stamps-n-lingers
I cut two short pine boughs from Gold Foil using the die from the Pretty Pines Thinlits, and a pine cone from Silver Foil.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the top of the jar.  A small Gold Baker’s Twine bow, adhered with a little more Liquid Glue, finished off the card front.

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-8-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I heat embossed a sentiment from Jar of Cheer in Gold on a Whisper White panel.

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to Silver Foil and then into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I heat embossed another Jar of Cheer candle in Gold on the front, coloring it with my Gold and Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brushes…

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and I ran the envelope flap thru the Big Shot in the Pine Bough TIEF and brushed the embossed image with the Clear Wink of Stella.

Et Voila!  Silver, Gold and White candle-in-a-pine-embellished-jar-of-cheer for Christmas.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! An Ugly Christmas Stockings Sweater!

Mornin’, folks!  Well – I’m in Utah.  And it snowed.  And I drove from the airport across a mountain pass that was way snowier than I’d planned.  Especially since I’d called the front desk of my hotel and the receptionist (who lives here!!) recommended the mountain route versus the flatland route.  Some nonsense about the county taking better care of the mountain route.

Right.  I think not.  My little rental Nissan Rogue held its own, though and I called on snow driving skills I haven’t exercised for years (and drove waaaaay slow!) – and we made it thru just fine.

Pretty sure I’ll go back the other way on the weekend! 🙂

Mr. Finn didn’t have a very good day.  His mom wasn’t there when he got home and they told him/us he can’t do anything but leash walks for 5 days!  That’s gonna be tough on a little Aussie kid.  AND – they put a collar thingy on him so he can’t lick the offending part of him. 🙁  Hopefully the pain med will work and he’ll be able to sleep.  I know his little wiggle-butt is whooped!

Now.  About today’s card.  Before you look at it, know that it was deliberate!  Our upline, Amy Koender, issued a challenge to us to make an Ugly Christmas sweater card.  We took it to heart.  I used the plaids from Warmth and Cheer and some deliberately non-coordinating colors with some Christmas Stocking thinlits to make….this.  I don’t know if I’ll win the contest, but take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Totally Trees and Starlight Peace

Hey, y’all.  By the time you read this, I’ll be at the airport.  Or even already in Utah, depending on your schedule.  As I wrote this on Sunday evening, I’m as close to being ready to go as I can get until the clothes come out of the dryer.  And I’m stressing like crazy!

Not so much because of the trip, although it’s becoming more and more stressful for me.  Nope.  I’m worrying cuz…tomorrow….Mr. Finn-Chewie goes to be Tutored.  Wink.

The worst part is that in the morning he won’t get his run, won’t get any breakfast and won’t get the huge drink of water he always has first thing.  And I can’t even tell him why.  And when he comes home I won’t even be here.  And he won’t know why.  Or if I’ll be back.  Worst part of having a velcro dog is that it makes such a horrible rip when you leave them.

Okay.  That’s it.  No more maudlin crap.  Finn, in the way of puppies, knows of nothing amiss – so I’m not going to be a big ole sissy-la-la-wussy face.  Dogs get tutored every day and they get over it.  So I will, too.

We’ve been hooking his leash under the leg of the recliner (if he pulls that, then I’m buying a cart and we’re going to compete!).  So he lays on the living room, looking longingly at the cat bowls – knowing there’s a few little kernels left in them, and playing with his rope toy.  Until he falls asleep….

finn-asleep-with-the-rope-toy
Yes – he’s sound asleep holding the rope toy in his mouth.  Seriously and ridiculously cute. 🙂

So I’ve been making all my cards for this next week and the one I made today is one of my favorites.  It’s Black and Metallic.  I used the Totally Trees stamp set, a little bit of Be Jolly, By Golly (get this one at 20% off TODAY only while Online Extravaganza is still on!), and a couple of die cuts.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Pine Bough Christmas Greetings

Happy Tuesday and Day 2 of Online Extravaganza, y’all!  Hope you’re doing some shopping!  Don’t forget that I’ve got a great Ordering Special going on right now – be sure to scroll on down and get all the details!

Wanted to share a quick little picture of Finn-Chewie.

finn-watching-the-tub
This is what an-almost-6-month-old Aussie does when you take him in the bathroom with you while you take a bath.  Easiest way to keep track of His Busy-ness without putting him in the kennel.  He really didn’t think this was a “normal” activity.  He did, however, avail himself of a little tiny taste of the water.  And then I think he decided….”well, I guess I’ve been abducted adopted by a goofy-woman, so I might as well just chill and wait to see what she comes up with next!” 🙂

finn-by-the-tub
He’s developing into a nice little “go-with-the-flow” kind of guy – and that’s a heck of a trait for a little dog!  One of my favorite traits, actually! 🙂

Now.  Card for today.  You guys may notice that one of the items that’s on the Online Extravaganza list (at 30% off!) is the wonderful Pine Bough TIEF.  So I wanted to do a little something with that for you.  I added in some Christmas Pines and Pretty Pines Thinlits.  And, just cuz I have it, I used the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Santa’s Sleigh and Christmas Music

Happy Weekend, y’all!  Hope you’ve got something fun planned for the weekend – I think Mr. Finn is going to have a play date with his “sister” Scout.  She’s two years old now – but from the same mom and dad as Finn.  Her mom says she’s all ready to show Finn the ropes. 🙂

We’ve been taking the little man out to the arena in the evenings after we feed and playing ball with him.  He loves racing after the tennis balls and pouncing on them!  And when he gets tired and done with us, he races around us and leaps on the golf cart.  We stop on the way back to the house and he gets a big drink of water from the horse trough – I’ll try to get a picture of that, it’s pretty cute!

It’s really amazing how quickly he’s assimilating into farm life!

Then he comes in and goes in his kennel.  He’ll spend a little time trying to get the peanut butter out of the big stuffed bone (thank you, Amy Koenders!)…

finn-and-his-bone
and finally, if we’ve done a good job playing, we get this…

finn-happy-sleeping
And then I can settle down and type a blog post! 🙂

My card for today is another one using the beautiful This Christmas DSP sheet music paper.  I added some images and die cuts using the Santa’s Sleigh bundle, and this is what I got.  Take a look-see:

santas-sleigh-christmas-music-2-stamps-n-lingers
The layout for my card comes from the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge #249:

hss-249-sketch
I started by double matting the sheet music paper from This Christmas DSP on Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black.  Then I wrapped a length of Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and one of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim around the panel, securing them in the back with scotch tape.

I “made” an oval doily by taking a Silver Metallic Foil Doily and cutting it in half, then gluing it back together with some overlap – making it an oval.  I knew the seam would be covered up by the tree.

santas-sleigh-christmas-music-2-stamps-n-lingers
The tree in question is from the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set – I heat embossed it in Silver on Very Vanilla and then cut it with the matching die in the Santa’s Sleigh Thinlits.  I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the tree onto the newly oval-ized silver doily, and then popped it over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits – I cut three of them from Rich Razzleberry and then adhered them in a stack with Liquid Glue.  I used more little dots of the Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiment to the card front.

santas-sleigh-christmas-music-3-stamps-n-lingers
The decoration on the right side is comprised of a length of Rich Razzleberry 3/8″ Ribbon from the Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog – I doubled and stuck it under the other ribbon with a Glue Dot.  Then I added a couple of Silver Foil boughs cut with a Pretty Pines Thinlits die with some Liquid Glue.  The final touch is a little bow, tied with two lengths of Silver Metallic Thread and one of Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine, added with a dab of Liquid Glue.  And I nestled a Christmas Trinket Embellishment in with a Glue Dot.

santas-sleigh-christmas-music-8-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I stamped part of the sentiment from Santa’s Sleigh in Rich Razzleberry – since it’s a photopolymer stamp, it’s easy to ink just the first part of the sentiment!  Then I added a tiny bow – also from Santa’s Sleigh – heat embossed in Silver.  Across the bottom is a piece of This Christmas DSP, matted on Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black.

santas-sleigh-christmas-music-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel into my Very Vanilla card base, popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another of the Santa’s Sleigh trees, heat embossed in Silver, on the front…

santas-sleigh-christmas-music-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and I added some more of the This Christmas DSP to the envelop flap.

santas-sleigh-christmas-music-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  See how I managed to get some pine boughs in there? 😉  I love how the pieces and parts all came together to make an elegant Christmas card.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Greetings from Santa!

Good morning, y’all – our first morning with…Finn?  Maybe.  We’ve been using that since we picked him up.  He responds to it as well as to  anything else!

He had a pretty long day, poor baby!  Long car ride home – he was pretty antsy by the time we finally made it to the house.  But, for all he was nervous and worried about what the heck was going on, his way of dealing with it in the van was…

img_5265
And, after we stopped and got some dinner and I moved to the front seat…

img_5266

Please note the size of the hands and feet.  We met his daddy.  We’re talking 70 pound Aussie.  I fear Mr. Finn may match him!

So far, he’s a good boy – a very very smart boy.  He’s not had any leash training, but you can almost literally see his brain turning as he’s learning – even in the midst of the stress of his first day as a Deatherage.  I think he’s going to be a whole ton of fun! 🙂

Oh – and Mr. Wayne, who tried to make me think he’d been coerced?  Yea.  He’s already in love.  Big ole fraud….

My card for today was simple and quick to make.  It uses the Greetings from Santa stamp set and the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.  Add in a little Gorgeous Grunge and that’s all it needed. Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Petal Burst Peace

Monday Monday.  Again again.  Hmm.  It’s no wonder that wasn’t the song lyric…

This morning, my card share is so easy and so simple.  And when something is this simple and easy to do, one needs to execute it perfectly.  Or – since there’s no such thing as “perfect” (well, except for the Fifth Element, of course!), as close to perfect as we mere mortals can achieve.  Which…sometimes makes it nearly impossible to do at all!

About a 1000 years ago, before color tv and….gasp!….cell phones…I rode American Saddlebred horses.  I thought they were the most beautiful thing on the planet.  Still do!  Anyway – I rode Saddleseat Equitation – and when we’d go to horse shows, the competition was about the rider – not the horse.  At that time – and probably still, even though she’s gone to the great show ring in the sky – the acknowledged Queen of Saddleseat Equitation was Helen Crabtree.

In her book, she told of one of the thousands of riders she judged at horse shows who, when directed to approach her and tell her what she planned to do (everyone had to go execute a maneuver – all by themselves – at one end of the arena) trotted up (on her perfectly trained, $10,000 horse, heels perfectly down, chin up, hands in the exact right position) and informed the judge that she was going to…

“…go to the end of the arena and execate a figure oot.” 😉

Of course she meant execute a figure eight.  One of the most simple and straightforward of the possible maneuvers.  The poor kid was no doubt trying to speak past the cotton mouth nerves of being the center of attention in the giant arena.

And no  – that wasn’t me!

Why tell this story?  Cuz…this card today is the card equivalent of a figure eight at the end of the arena.  The biggest difference is that this isn’t impossible to do at all – it’s super easy!  It calls on Vintage Leaves, the Petal Burst TIEF, and the Christmas Greetings Thinlits.  Very Vanilla and Night of Navy.  A little copper.  And that’s it.

Simple.  Elegant.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek – Star of Light Peace!

It’s Friday!  Yeah!!  And it’s the 26th of August!

Which means….only 3 days (let’s include today!) left to get in on the 2016 Holiday Catalog shares!  Scroll on down for the details. 🙂

Today’s card is a Christmas card.  Not a holiday card.  A Christmas Card.  I hope to not offend anyone, but…for me, the holiday we celebrate in December is Christmas!  And the sentiment I picked is decidedly “Christmas”!

I’m using the upcoming Star of Light bundle.  Notice I say bundle.  When I ordered this as part of my pre-order (a very nice SU! demo perk!), for some unknown reason, I only ordered the stamp set!  Hello?!?  I realized it when the giant box o’ goodies arrived and I dug everything out.  I went thru all the thinlit and framelits envelopes 4 times.  Just in case I’d missed it.  But no.  So…had to do a second pre-order (darn the luck!!) to buy the thinlits.  Let’s just pretend that’s all I ordered in my second go, shall we?!

Star of Light Bundle - Stamps-N-Lingers
When you buy this next week – don’t be like me – be sure to order the bundle, okay?  You’re really going to want it and you might as well get that 10% discount!

So, I used the Star of Light bundle, added a die-cut sentiment from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Star of Light Peace 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
My design comes from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #251:

FMS 251 Sketch
So, I started with a piece of Basic Gray card stock, and inked the swirly stars image from Star of Light in Versamark.  I stamped the image multiple times across the panel, and then sprinkled it with Heat & Stick Powder.  After I quickly heated the powder with my Heat Tool, I sprinkled it with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter and hit it a second time with the Heat Tool.

Tip: while you need to move along expeditiously doing this, do take the time to close the lid on your Versamark ink pad before you start tapping off excess glitter or turning your Heat Tool on.  This glitter – like all glitter! – moves real easy in a breeze.  And kind of goes everywhere…just sayin’…. 😉

Once it was all dry, I SNAILd it to a Dapper Denim mat.

Star of Light Peace 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers
The center square is a piece of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, matted on Dapper Denim.  I cut both squares with the Squares Layering Framelits and SNAILd them together and then to the card front.  Then I wrapped a length of Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon around, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

For the Star of Light focal point, I used two dies from the Starlight Thinlits.  I cut the detailed piece from Silver Foil and the solid backer from Dapper Denim card stock, and used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them together.

See why you want the Starlight thinlits?  Fussy cutting that top star would have been a bit of a….challenge! 🙂

Star of Light Peace 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I used some Stampin’ Dimensional under the top and bottom tips of the star and Liquid Glue on the rest of it to adhere it over the center of the card.

For my front sentiment, I cut the word three times with my Christmas Greetings Thinlits die – once from the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and twice from Dapper Denim and stacked them up with Liquid Glue.  I used a little more of the glue to adhere the stack over the star.  And that was it for the card front!

Star of Light Peace 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers
On the inside, I repeated the Star of Light swirly stars image in Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter on Whisper White card stock.  Then I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig to line up and stamp a pretty sentiment from Star of Light in Dapper Denim.

Star of Light Peace 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Dapper Denim mat and then into my Basic Gray card base, popped the front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I used a couple of small star images from Star of Light and stamped them in Smoky Slate and Dapper Denim on the front.  I stamped each image twice – offsetting the second stamp…

Star of Light Peace 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers
…and I used the swirly stars image again on the envelope flap, this time heat embossing it in Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

Star of Light Peace 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers
Et Voila!  Star of Light – a perfectly beautiful bundle to help you celebrate the Christmas/holiday season!  It also has more secular sentiments, so it’s a wicked-versatile set!  I hope you’ll consider adding it to your wish list.  And be sure to get the bundle from the git-go! 😉

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this for yourself!

Here we are – 15 days till Christmas (just a little public service announcement!) and the Happy Stamper Ladies-Who-Hop are bringing you another wonderful assortment of card crafting goodness!  And – if that number didn’t make it all really real – then consider that, after today, there’s one more Happy Stamper Hop.  And then the one after that will be ON Christmas.  Real enough for ya?? I’m just sayin’ that Christmas is like..tomorrow! Yikes! 🙂 But – for today, take a moment, get a cuppa something warm and cozy and enjoy all of our creations!  You’ll find links to everyone’s posts down the way a piece.
