Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Meets Seasonal Frame!

Good morning, y’all!  When you read this, I’ll be on the way to spend a day crafting and carding and playing and eating and (hopefully!!) winning a prize or two!  Wish you could all come – I read someone was flying in from San Diego!  Yikes! 🙂

Now, today’s card is going to look awfully familiar.  That’s cause I used the same sketch challenge as my starting point that I used yesterday.  Normally, I wouldn’t do that.  But, when I first saw the sketch a couple days back, I actually had two card pictures get into my head.  So, I’m doing the one I didn’t do yesterday today.  Saturday.

So, this design was also inspired by Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #288.  Be sure to go over and check them out!

SSSC 288

For this one, I started with Into the Woods DSP as my color scheme launching point.  And I used just one TIEF – the Woodland TIEF.  For my sentiment, I used a die from the Seasonal Frame Thinlits.  And, of course, some Vintage Leaves.  You can see it’s going to go in a completely different direction than the All Ye Faithful card.  Take a look-see:

I started to build the card by cutting my Rich Razzleberry card front and the square piece.  I wanted to emboss both pieces with the Woodland TIEF – and I wanted it to look like it was….well….hang on.

I figured out where the square was going to be placed on the card front, and I used a tiny bit of scotch tape to lightly adhere it to the card front.  Then I ran the layers thru the Big Shot in the Woodland TIEF.  When it came out of the sandwich, both pieces were identically embossed!   I spent a few minutes admiring my handiwork, and then I moved on.

You can see (sort of!) in the picture above that the trees all line up!  Cool, huh?

With that done, I SNAILd both pieces to a mat made from Kraft Corrugated Paper.  The banner is simply a piece of the Into the Woods DSP, cut into a banner with the Banner Triple Punch.  Unlike yesterday, though, I heeded my own advice and made the banner and its Corrugated Paper mat long enough to fit the card like I wanted it to! 🙂

I SNAILd the banner to the card front, and then used some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the left and right side of the square and SNAIL in the middle to adhere it over the banner.

The focal art is three leaves from the Vintage Leaves stamp set, all cut with the matching Leaflets Framelits dies.  They’re all heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder – but I didn’t use Versamark.  I stamped two leaves in Rich Razzleberry Ink on Whisper White card stock and then quickly sprinkled them with the Gold Emboss Powder.  That left just enough of the leaf covered with the Gold Powder – it’s not fully covered, but that’s kind of fun – you get some Gold, you get some Rich Razzleberry….  The third leaf was done the same way with Crushed Curry!  After I heated them all up with my heat tool, I lightly sponged them with a little bit of my Tangelo Twist almost-dry Sponge Dauber – just to tone down the white edges.

Vintage Leaves Seasonal Frame 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I cluster’d the leaf stems up and then used a little dab of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to stick them all together.  Once they’d dried, I used Stampin’ DImensionals to adhere them to the card.  I made a triple-strand bow (1 strand Linen Thread, 2 strands Metallic Gold Thread) and used a little dab of Liquid Glue to stick it to the stems.

The final element of the card front was the sentiment.  I cut one “grateful” (from the Seasonal Frame Thinlits) from Gold Foil, and two more from Rich Razzleberry card stock.  Then I stacked them up and stuck them all together with Liquid Glue.  And used a little more of that glue to adhere it to the card over top the leaves.  Finally, I popped the whole thing onto my Mossy Meadow card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and…done!

Vintage Leaves Seasonal Frame 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The inside is a piece of Whisper White card stock, matted on a piece of Rich Razzleberry. I stamped the sentiment from Watercolor Wishes in Rich Razzleberry and then added another Vintage Leaves leaf over the top of the sentiment in Crushed Curry.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a liner from the Into the Woods DSP…

….and a Rich Razzleberry leaf on the front. Easy peasy!

Et Voila!  Same design – completely different look, huh?  Can’t even decide which one I like better – so, I’m gonna like ’em both – a lot! 😉  In case you missed it, see the first card I did using this sketch right here.

Before I go – thought you might want to see my Tacky Name Tag for the World Card Making Day Tacky Tag contest….

I find it quite hideous and I hope that the “judges” do, too! 😉

Sunday’s blog post may come a bit late.  I think tonight is going to be a long one, and I don’t leap out of bed so good anymore after a late night!  So, don’t give up on me – I’ll get there.  And I’ll even have pictures of The Big Event!

TTFN….hope you have a great Saturday!

Mary

  1. Mom

Beautiful card! And incredibly ghastly name tag. Hope it wins! Kind of like engineering Nerd Day from a while ago.

  2. Absolutely fabulous card, Mary! I love the color combo and all of the different elements in the card inside and out. Your name tag is definitely one of a kind!

  3. Your card is stunning! Love the colors and the embossing is fabulous. Your name tag won first prize in my book…awesomely over-the-top tacky, lots of glitter and sequins!! 😉 Enjoyed stamping with you today, looking forward to doing it again soon!

  4. Me, too, Amy! And really enjoyed dinner with you guys afterwards. Wish we had one of those places down this way in “the sticks”! Thanks, Amy! 🙂

  5. Luralyn

Goregous use of colors and textures. I really, really like this card. I don’t have these leaves nor the framelits/thinlits, but I have Fall Foliage, so maybe I can make them work. TFS! 🙂

  6. Good luck – and have fun with it! I do have to say that the Vintage Leaves/Leaflets bundle is one of the best things I’ve gotten! And, of course, the Woodland TIEF is just the complete bomb-diggety! Thanks so much for your nice words, Luralyn! 🙂
