Stampin’ Up! Smitten Mittens and Snowflakes for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! This is Color Challenge week and it’s going to be fun to see what everyone comes up with.   Be sure to check ’em all out when you get done here!

Our colors this week presented a tiny challenge for me…I brought not one sheet or scrap of Emerald Envy card stock.  Odd, since I brought the ink pad and the Stampin’ Write Marker, but…there you have it!

So, I pulled on my thinking cap (nope – it’s not Emerald Envy either!) and decided I could use some paper from the Christmas Around the World DSP and make a little something with the Smitten Mittens bundle.  Take a look-see:

LOL – not a lot of Emerald Envy, but it you squint and look real close…it’s there! 🙂

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock that I ran thru the Big Shot in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF and matted on a piece of Real Red with Fast Fuse.

The next layer is from the Christmas Around the World DSP – I cut it larger than I wanted and then cut one edge with the long die in the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits set.  I adhered that smack over top of the embossed Whisper White panel with Liquid Glue.

I used some more Liquid Glue to adhere a silver Foil Snowflake to the card front.

For my mittens, I cut out two of them with the dies in the Many Mittens Framelits from Whisper White card stock and ran them both thru the Big Shot in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  I made little “cuffs” with the cutting die in the set – then embossed them with a second die that made the “ribbing” impression.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the mittens.

Using the snowflake die from Swirly Snowflakes, I cut two snowflakes from Red Glimmer Paper.  For the other two, in an effort to get some Emerald Envy into the mix, I used my Stampin’ Write Marker to color a piece of Whisper White card stock, then I cut two more snowflakes – now in Emerald Envy! 🙂

I adhered the snowflakes together and then to the mittens with Liquid Glue.  For the “mitten string”, I tied a bow with some silver Mini Tinsel Trim and adhered the long tails to the back of each mitten with a Glue Dot.

I made the sentiment by inking the word from the Smitten Mitten set directly with my Emerald Envy Stampin’ Write Marker and stamping it on a strip of Whisper White.  I snipped a banner in one end, edged the strip with my Emerald Envy Marker and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The mitten on the right is adhered with Liquid Glue directly to the card front and the left is popped over the top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I finished the card off with a few silver Metallic Enamel Shapes and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Smitten Mittens in Pool Party ink on a Whisper White panel.  Then I added two Real Red mittens and a couple of silver heart-shaped Metallic Enamel Shapes.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Real Red mat and into my Pool Party card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got two more Real Red Smitten Mittens on the front – along with a couple silver heart-shaped Metallic Enamel Shapes…

…and I added some more of the Christmas Around the World DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Okay – I’m a little smitten with this card!  The Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF just makes the Smitten Mittens so cozy and warm, don’t you think??  And the Swirly Snowflakes tie in perfectly.  I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Christmas Around the World for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! We’ve got a full roster playing with today’s sketch, so be sure to check ’em all out when you get done here!

Here’s our fun sketch – I love these designs with the wonky matting!

I decided to let some pretty Designer Paper from the Christmas Around the World do a lot of the work for me – and ended up with a card that used zero ink.  Yep, no stamping!  I added some texture with the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF and a few snowflakes from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

This card also plays along with the theme challenge from this week’s TGIF Challenge.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock, embossed it with the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF and matted it on a piece of Powder Pink card stock for the card front.

Next up, I matted a piece of Quilted Christmas DSP on Powder Pink and adhered it to the card front – sort of wonky-style – with Fast Fuse.  A second panel, from Christmas Around the World, is also matted on Powder Pink.  That one’s popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a strip of Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon across the panels with some Liquid Glue.

The sentiment is cut from a piece of the Christmas Around the World DSP using an Ovals Layering Framelit and matted on a scalloped Powder Pink mat.  It’s adhered over the ribbon with Fast Fuse.

I cut three small snowflakes with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits from Powder Pink card stock.  I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to lay glue down all over each snowflake and sprinkled them with Dazzling Diamonds Stampin’ Glitter.  Then I adhered them with a little Liquid Glue to the card front.  The addition of a Rhinestone Basic Jewel on each snowflake finished off the card front.

On the inside, I cut two snowflakes with the Seasonal Layers Thinlits from the bottom corner of a Whisper White panel.  Then I adhered the panel to a Powder Pink mat with Fast Fuse (and a little Liquid Glue around the cut-out areas).  Finally, I used more Liquid Glue and stuck the die cut snowflakes back into the negative space.

I added a Rhinestone to each snowflake, Fast Fuse’d the panel into my Basic Gray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Powder Pink Seasonal Layers snowflake adhered to the front with Liquid Glue…

…and another piece of the Christmas Around the World DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Now…”Happy Holidays” isn’t my normal choice for a greeting at Christmas – but I thought it would be fun to show how versatile that design is in the Christmas Around the World DSP!  And I love how the papers all work together with the the gorgeous Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF and Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Warm Merry Patterns for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! We’ve got a full roster playing with today’s color challenge, so be sure to check ’em all out when you get done here!

Okay – so, not gonna fib…this one wasn’t easy for me.  Not sure why.  But it wasn’t.  On top of my dithering and fussing, I had the added dilemma of not having brought Tangerine Tango ink or card stock.  So…from the git-go I was subbing in Pumpkin Pie! 🙁

I figured it would help to have a sketch to work from, so I took advantage of the one from this week’s TGIF Challenges.

I used the Merry Patterns stamp set and a sentiment from the Hug in a Mug set.  Combined with Spooky Night DSP and some embossing….well.  Take a look-see:

I started by adhering a piece of the Spooky Night DSP onto the bottom of a Very Vanilla card front with Liquid Glue.  Then I embossed the whole thing in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  I matted it on a piece of Lemon Lime Twist card stock and wrapped some Jute Twine twice around the seam, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

For the art piece, I first stamped the Merry Patterns deer in Early Espresso on a piece of Very Vanilla and cut it out with the largest of the circle Stitched Shapes Framelits.

Then, I stamped the same image again, this time in Pumpkin Pie, on a piece of scrap Very Vanilla.  I fussy cut just the “sweater” and adhered it to my deer with Liquid Glue.

With the sentiment from the Hug in a Mug stamp set, I added a sentiment in Early Espresso ink.  Finally, I stamped the pine bough image a few times in Lemon Lime Twist at the feet of the deer.

I matted the circle on a Lemon Lime Twist scalloped circle, cut with my Circles Layering Framelits.

And then I decided to get fancy.  I cut up a couple of Foil Snowflakes and adhered them around the circle, vanilla-side up.  Then I popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a small bow of Jute Twine with a Glue Dot.

Nope.  Not gonna do it – didn’t like the end result one bit.  One of those “sound in theory, flawed in execution” ideas.  I just didn’t love it.  So…carefully pried up the circle, pulled off the snowflakes and popped it back on.

There it is!  Much more better!

On the inside, I adhered a small strip of the Spooky Night DSP to a Lemon Lime Twist mat and embossed it in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  I stamped a few more Merry Patterns pine boughs in Lemon Lime Twist on a Very Vanilla panel and adhered my embossed strip over the top.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Lemon Lime Twist mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a Merry Patterns deer, in Early Espresso, on the front.  Then I added some Lemon Lime Twist pine boughs…

…then I added more Spooky Night DSP to the envelope flap, and embossed it in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF (probably can’t see that in the picture!)!

Et Voila!  I’m not in love with the card, but I AM in love with the Merry Patterns stamp set – which is still (and only!!) available thru the end of October.  Scroll on down to find out how to get it for yourself before it’s gone-baby-gone!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Jolly Snow Friends Christmas

Happy weekend, y’all!  Now – brace yourselves.  I’m going to tell you something completely terrifying.  Two weeks from today is Christmas Eve.

Yes.  Two weeks.  14 days.  336 hours.  20,160 minutes.

That’s not a lot of time, folks.

All I can say is…yikes!  I’m in trouble!  I’ve got a lot of cards made.  No gifts.  No baking done.

Yikes.

Finn’s on a break today.  He did some obedience training this morning and afternoon – so he’s kind of tired.  By which I mean….I clicked the clicker when he did something I wanted and then he got a treat.  At some point, I’m sure his smart self will overcome his stubborn self and he’ll figure it out!  We’re currently working on heel and come.  Lots and lots and lots of “come”!  It’s kind of his hardest thing here at home (away from home heeling is the tough thing).  I call him with my most authoritative voice.  Sometimes he comes right off the bat – sometimes…not so much.  I can see him weighing his options.  I think he’s looking to see if my hand is in my pocket where I keep the treats! 🙂

He’s stupid smart.

I’m just stupid, I think! 😉

So, my card for today is another one of those Christmas cards.  I used the Jolly Friends stamp set (on the Clearance Rack for $13.60), the cute Snow Place stamp set and a couple of fun little things in the 2017 Occasions catalog.  Take a look-see:

jolly-snow-friends-4-stamps-n-lingers
The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:

fms266-sketch
And my color scheme is from the Fab Friday challenge:

fabfri102
I started with a piece of Real Red card stock and I used a sponge dauber and some Whisper White Craft ink to stencil some dots all over the panel.  The mask I used was from an older retired set, but you could easily use the Seasonal Decorative Masks – currently on the Clearance Rack!  Once the ink was dry, I embossed the panel in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF and then SNAILd it on a Whisper White mat.

jolly-snow-friends-1-stamps-n-lingers
The small square is a piece of Emerald Envy Designer Series Paper, matted on Whisper White and SNAILd to the card front.

See that doily?  That’s a very cool new 2017 Occasions catalog embellishment – the Lace Doilies.  Why are they so cool?  Cuz they’re Very Vanilla on one side and Whisper White on the other!  Talk about handy and versatile! 🙂

I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere the doily Whisper White-side-up over the Emerald Envy square.

I stamped the fun moose from the Jolly Friends stamp set in Early Espresso on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and fussy cut him.  Then I used the Real Red pencil in the new Watercolor Pencils to add some color to his cheeks and smoothed it out with a Blender Pen.

jolly-snow-friends-2-stamps-n-lingers
I stamped the hat in Real Red on Whisper White and punched it out with the Jolly Hat Builder Punch.  I also punched a trim piece from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  That’s stuck on the hat with Liquid Glue and then I adhered the complete hat to the moose with a little more Liquid Glue.

The sentiment is from the Snow Place stamp set, stamped in Real Red on Whisper White.  Then I used the fun little die in the new Occasions catalog Window Box Thinlits to cut the ends off the strip and make it into a foldable banner!  I stuck the folds together with Glue Dots and then popped the sentiment on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

jolly-snow-friends-3-stamps-n-lingers
I stuck Stampin’ Dimensionals onto the back of the moose and used them to wind loops of Gold Baker’s Twine around, then I stuck it on the card.

jolly-snow-friends-8-stamps-n-lingers
The inside of the card is a triple layer.  First off, I stamped the Jolly Friends moose in Early Espresso on a Whisper White panel.  I gave him some Real Red cheeks with the Watercolor Pencil and Blender Pen.

jolly-snow-friends-5-stamps-n-lingers
I matted the panel on Real Red and Whisper White and then into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done! 🙂

My Crumb Cake Medium Envelope got another Jolly Friends moose on the front…

jolly-snow-friends-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and more of the Emerald Envy DSP on the envelope flap.

jolly-snow-friends-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  The Jolly Friends moose does it again – super cute little guy paired up with the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF and a sentiment from Snow Place.  Hope you like!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Cable Knit and Pines Noel

Hey, y’all!  Hope the weekend’s going well for you.  We had a bit of an….incident on Friday evening….

And it was totally on Wayne.

Not me.

For which I am oh-so-grateful!

When we feed the horses in the evening, we fill a container with Beet Pulp and Hay pellets and one with Alfalfa hay cubes, and fill them with water. Then they soak for an hour or so while everyone is eating their dinner.  Around 8:30 or so, we go back out, put the girls out in the pasture, and give the now-soaked-and-easy-to-chew pellets and cubes to Bo.

Did you know that horses’ teeth grow until the – essentially “run out”?  They wear them down with the grinding motion when they chew.  When they get old (Bo’s 26), the teeth stop growing – they “run out” – and then they don’t meet in the back the way they need to to chew hay or grass efficiently.  If they reach that point and aren’t supplemented, well….they die.  If you’re one of my horses, then your staff will always be there to provide easy-to-chew food.  It’s especially good if it’s $20 for a 50lb sack!  The staff loves that! 😉

Anywho….on Friday, I was busy blogging so I asked Wayne if he’d do the second round.  About 10 minutes after he left the house, my phone rang.

This is never good news.

I thought someone – likely Bo – was colicing (should there be a “k” in there?  I don’t know!) – and that we were in for a long night

Well.  We were in for a long night, but Bo wasn’t sick.  This is what I heard:

“I left the d%^& water on in the sink and it overflowed and flooded the entire tack room!!”

To which I responded “You’ve got to be kidding me”.

He wasn’t.

We spent the next couple of hours shop-vac’ing the tack room.  Our neighbor came up with his vac and we have two.  Also sucked the wet feed out of the sink – the culprit in the overflow.

Finn, meanwhile, was asked to stay on the golf cart.  Which he did.

Around 9 or so, his usual “bed time”, he….went to bed.

finn-sleeping-on-golf-cart
I’d shucked my hoodie and put it on the golf cart seat, so when he got tired, he just hopped up and made himself comfortable!

I know.  He’s ridiculously sweet.  And he’s got a bit of “couch potato” in him, which works well since his mom has a pretty good bit of that as well!

So that was our adventure on Friday!  Fun, huh? The glamorous life of horse owners! 🙂

I did actually make a card for you – guess you’d maybe like to see it?  For this one, I used the Christmas Pines stamp set and the matching Pretty Pines Thinlits, the Hang Your Stocking Thinlits, and the cool Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  Take a look-see:

This card design was inspired by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week:

fms-262-sketch

I started by embossing a Whisper White panel in the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  BTW – Stampin’ Up! is bringing another of the “Dynamic” folders to us in the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  The Hexagons Dynamic TIEF is part of the manly Urban Underground Suite.

hexagons-dynamic-tief-stamps-n-lingers
I can’t wait to emboss some Silver Foil with that to make a fun tool box card for Wayne!

But, I digress!  I embossed the Whisper White panel in the Cable Knit TIEF.  The next piece is a Cherry Cobbler die cut that I made using the Christmas Stockings Thinlits.  I adhered the sentiment to the card front with some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue – making sure I’d moved it far enough to the right to accommodate my art piece.  I snipped off the excess, and glued that to the left side of the card – to make it look like it’s as long as my card.  The die cut is actually sized for a 4 1/4″ card (so…portrait).

cable-knit-pines-noel-3-stamps-n-lingersThe art piece is made with the Christmas Pines stamp set and bundled Pretty Pines Thinlits.  First, I stamped the pine bough image in Emerald Envy and the second part of the pine bough image with Mint Macaron on Whisper White.  Then I cut out just a portion of the image using an oval die from the new and wonderful Stitched Shapes Framelits!  I cut a Cherry Cobbler scalloped oval with an Ovals Layering Framelits die and adhered them together with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered it to the card front with a little more Liquid Glue.

cable-knit-pines-noel-2-stamps-n-lingers
My pine cone is made from some Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper, that I colored with my Gold Wink of Stella.  I don’t have any of the Gold Glimmer Paper – and I actually like this look better anyway.  It’s a little softer and a little more organic, I think.  I colored a large enough piece for the pine cone I needed and then I let it dry while I folded some laundry.

I could have used my Heat Tool, but I figured…how terribly domestic and efficient of you, Mary!  I was quite pleased with myself.  It was the whites load, too – my least favorite. 😉

I cut my colored glimmer paper with a die from the Pretty Pines Thinlits, and cut a backer from Early Espresso card stock.  I also cut a little Cherry Cobbler berry sprig.

cable-knit-pines-noel-8-stamps-n-lingers
I adhered the berries, then the pine cone with Liquid Glue.  Using a couple of Glue Dots, I added two Mini Pinecones, and then a bow made with the Bakers Twines in the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog.

And then I pulled the bow off and took it apart, cuz that was Garden Green Baker’s Twine and it looked wrong.  I remade the bow – this time with Emerald Envy Solid Baker’s Twine – and stuck it back on.  Then I SNAILd the whole thing to a Cherry Cobbler mat and the card front was done!

cable-knit-pines-noel-1-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside of the card, I did another pine bough from Christmas Pines – this time stamping each image off once before stamping it on the card.  I used Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron just like on the front.  I added a sentiment from the Christmas Pines set in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I SNAILd it to a Cherry Cobbler mat.

And then I tried to put my portrait-oriented inside liner into my landscape-oriented Emerald Envy card base.

Guess how well that worked?? 😉

I think I need to make more landscape cards – I go on autopilot and the next thing I know I have to re-do my liners!

cable-knit-pines-noel-5-stamps-n-lingers
I also cut a little Cherry Cobbler bow with the Pretty Pines Thinlits and adhered it with some Liquid Glue.  I SNAILd it into my Emerald Envy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and it was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another of the Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron pine boughs from Christmas Pines on the front…

cable-knit-pines-noel-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and I added the pine bough and a pine cone and bow to the back.  The pine cone is two-step – the back is Crumb Cake and the top stamp is Early Espresso.  The bow is in Cherry Cobbler and adhered with Liquid Glue.

cable-knit-pines-noel-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  More of my favorite pine boughs and cones for Christmas – paired with the wonderful Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF!  Hope you like!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Father Christmas Magic

Mornin’, y’all – happy Hawmp Day – I hope your week is going well!  We’re finally having Fall.  It’s gorgeous here – I see the leaves “raining” down – that’s what we’re going to name our farm one of these days.  Raining Leaf Farm.  We have so many trees that when Fall really “hits” and the wind blows or rain falls, the leaves truly look like rain!  It’s completely cool.  I love this time of year!

Okay – a few little admin-y things before we get to the card, okay?

Number 1:  Copper Foil Sheets.  If you didn’t catch it yesterday, here’s the deal.  They’ve been so completely and wildy popular that they’re almost extinct.  Like…after TODAY at 8am (Mountain Time)….they’re going to be on the “Non-Orderable” List.  You can still order them until 8am (MT) – they’re going to show as backordered, but the system will allow you to place the order and get on the list to get in on the final shipment.  So – if you want any of this pretty paper – get it now.  I have no way to tell you when it will come back to being available.  Here’s a link right to the Copper Foil Sheets if you want to go grab them right now.

copper-foil-sheets-pic
Number 2:  You’ve got until this evening to take advantage of the Stampin’ Up! World Card Making Day special and get 25% off select items.  Scroll on down for the details!

Number 3:  I found out yesterday that one of my cards from last week was selected as an Artist Pick over at Hand Stamped Sentiments, for their challenge #247!  What a great surprise it was to read this in my inbox!  Thanks to all the fine and talented folks at Hand Stamped Sentiments!  I appreciate you all.  If you want to go see that card, here’s a link.

Okay – whew!  Still with me?!  Sorry about that, but…there’s just stuff you needed to know, okay??  In a timely fashion! 🙂

So – on to the good stuff.  My card today is a study in Crumb Cake, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler.  I used two old-fashioned-y stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog – Christmas Magic and Father Christmas.  And added some warmth and texture with the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Totally Trees Papillon Thanks!

Happy one-day-left-to-order-Thoughtful-Branches and one-day-more-to-wait-till-the-Holiday-Catalog-goes-live Day!  Ha – you thought I was gonna say Happy Hawmp day, didn’t ya?  Well – happy that, too! 🙂

Before we get to the card, I have a teeny little deer story for you.  This evening when I stepped out the back door to go feed, as soon as I walked past the end of the house, I heard this great galumphing and pounding of feet at the other end of the house!  It scared the you-know-what out of me!  Once I returned to solid ground, looking around quickly to be sure no one saw me be such a ninny-wussy-sissy-la-la….I saw the cause of the commotion.  The two tiny, baby deer twins – who are no longer so tiny or baby (they’re pretty much still twins.  And….deer) – had been browsing the shrubs right against the house (no – it matters not to me, they’re ugly things that will one day find themselves on the burn pile!) – and I scared the you-know-what out of them when I came around the corner. 🙂

They boinged off a little ways – showing me how big their white tails are – and then turned to look at me.  One just stood there – I choose to think she’s a she – and therefore smart enough to have assessed the situation and immediately determined I was no threat.  The other, in a show of mighty manliness, stomped his little teenage deer foot a few times.  When I didn’t immediately bow to his ferocity, he stomped it a few more times!

Well, that did it.  I quickly jumped in the golf cart and backed cautiously away.  I know when I’m licked!  He definitely showed me what for!! 😉

In truth, it was pretty danged cool to be that close to them – once I could breathe again, that is!

Anywho – on to the card.  Today I used a new stamp set – Totally Trees (get it tomorrow!!) and an oldie-but-a-goodie, Papillon Potpourri.  I added a little Warmth & Cheer DSP, and a few other little goodies to come up with a thank you card.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves, Pines and Paisleys for Thanksgiving!

Made it to another weekend – my, how time does seem to fly!  Is it because I’m getting older…or is it because I have company coming in 27 days?  Or…what do y’all think?  I mean, seriously – it feels like I’m gonna blink and it’s going to be Christmas!

In 2025!! 🙂  Sheesh.

So today’s card is probably going to annoy you guys a little – cuz I called on my new favoritest stamp and Thinlit set – the Christmas Pines bundle from the 2016 Holiday catalog.  I can’t help it very much, y’all – I just flat love this set.  So…I’m gonna use it!  I did combine it with another great set – the Vintage Leaves stamp set and Leaflets Framelits.  And, once again, the new Paisleys & Posies stepped in to give me a sentiment.  Take a look-see:
