Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves & Pines for the Fall/Halloween Blog Hop

14191940_10210720964928554_1945697424832510820_n

Mornin’, y’all – welcome to another Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop. We’re doing a Theme Hop and today celebrates the arrival of Fall and Halloween!  That kind of leaves things wide open, so I’m betting you’ll see all sorts of projects today.   Do take the time to check them all out when you’re done here! 🙂

My ode to Fall has fall leaves – courtesy of Vintage Leaves and the matching Leaflets Framelits – and pine boughs and cones from Christmas Pines and the coordinating Pretty Pines Thinlits.  It gave me a card that really represents Fall at my house!  We’ve got pine trees and oaks and poplars and maples – so we have a good mix of green and fall colors when everything starts to change.  Take a look-see:

I based my design on the sketch from Mojo Monday this week.  Sketch #465:

mm-465-sketch
You can see I flipped the sketch upside down…

I started by embossing a Crumb Cake panel in the Woodgrain TIEF and SNAILing it to a Crushed Curry mat.  Over that is a Crumb Cake rectangle embossed in the Petal Burst TIEF.  Before I ran it thru the Big Shot, I inked up the embossing side of the folder with Versamark and then laid my card stock in, and embossed it.  When I pulled it out, I sprinkled Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder over it and heated it up.  That put Copper in all the spaces between the embossed petals!

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-1-stamps-n-lingers
I rounded the corners with my Project Life Corner Punch and then matted it on a Crushed Curry mat – which had been rounded with the Envelope Punch Board.  I SNAILd that to the card front.

I then wrapped a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, a length of Rich Razzleberry 3/8″ Ribbon from the Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog.  Finally, I wrapped some Gold Baker’s Twine around three times – securing it all in the back with scotch tape.

Next came pine boughs, cut with the Pretty Pines Thinlits.  I cut some from Old Olive and some from Always Artichoke, and adhered them with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-3-stamps-n-lingers
I made three Vintage Leaves – stamping them in Versamark Ink on Very Vanilla.  Then I sprinkled the two oak leaves with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and the maple with Gold.  After I heat embossed them, I sponged them with Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Rich Razzelberry inks.  Then I cut them with their matching Leaflets Framelits!  I gathered their stems together, adhering them into the shape I wanted with Liquid Glue and then adhering them over the pine boughs.

I cut a “ribbon” from Rich Razzleberry card stock and adhered it to the top of the leaf cluster.  Then I cut a Pretty Pines pine cone from Copper Foil and added that.  Next came a Mini Pinecone embellishment and a double bow of Gold Baker’s Twine – both adhered with Glue Dots.

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-8-stamps-n-lingers
Finally, I made a sentiment leaf.  I first stamped the leaf in Tangerine Tango (stamped off once) on Very Vanilla and sponged it with some Crushed Curry and Rich Razzleberry.  The sentiment, from Endless Thanks, is stamped in Early Espresso.  I cut it with the matching Leaflets, and nestled it into the leaves with Liquid Glue.

I added three Rich Razzleberry small round Enamel Shapes to the side of the card front, and it was done!

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-2-stamps-n-lingers

On the inside. I stamped the same Vintage Leaves leaf that I’d used for the sentiment in stamped off TWICE Tangerine Tango in the center of a Very Vanilla panel.  I quickly made a sticky note mask and masked the leaf, then I stamped a pine bough cluster from Christmas Pines – the first image is in stamped off TWICE Always Artichoke and the second is in stamped off TWICE Old Olive.  Then I added a second Endless Thanks sentiment in Early Espresso.

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-5-stamps-n-lingers
I cut another – smaller – Pretty Pines ribbon from Rich Razzleberry and adhered it to the panel.  Then I SNAILd it to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Rich Razzleberry card base.  I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done! 🙂

For my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I repeated the stamped off twice leaf and pine boughs – re-using my sticky note mask! – on the front of the envelope, in the exact way I’d done it for the inner liner…

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and on the envelope flap, I used the card stock from which I’d cut the Pretty Pines boughs as stencils, and added some Old Olive and Always Artichoke boughs with my Stampin’ Sponges!

vintage-leaves-and-pretty-pines-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  This one marries up a couple of my very favoritest bundles – Vintage Leaves and Leaflets and Christmas Pines and Pretty Pines!  Hope you like! 🙂

I’ve Got This!!

Oh my goodness.  Nothing does the heart good like picking up a really HEAVY box from the hotel desk – and seeing “Stampin’ Up!” written on the side…..it was pretty exciting.  But – I made the anticipation last.  I went and got some dinner.  Came back up and ate.  Watched a little tv.  If I maybe gave the box a little stroke on my way by each time – that’s not a bad thing, right?  Finally – I couldn’t stand it any longer and I broke into it.  Nope – didn’t even take a picture of the bounty inside (Warning – Rookie Blogger….).  Just started pulling stuff out.  And turning it over and inspecting everything.  And – quite conscientiously, I thought – putting it all neatly away.  Then I took a little bit and assembled several of the stamp sets.  And went to bed.  Yes, went to bed.  I know – I know.  How did I stand it?  How could I have NOT made a card?!?!  It was pure self-preservation, people!!  It was already 9:30 and the ^$&%* alarm was going off at 4:30am.  Had to sleep – don’t judge me!

But, the NEXT night….I made a card!  I’d promised a friend at work that I’d make a card for him to send to his wife – yes, my learning curve is flat flat flat.  I haven’t even managed to send my mom’s Mother’s Day present and I’m promising people I’ll make cards.  sigh….  But, promise I did, so….  I pulled out the brand spankin’ new You’ve Got This set, and combined it with a going-away-soon set – Lovely Amazing You.  Take a look-see:

Lovely Amazing You Outside 4 watermarkedI did a kinda-sorta CASE of a card I saw in the new catalog.  I SNAIL’d a piece of Whisper White CS to a Tip-Top Taupe (brand new 2015-2017 In Color color) card stock mat.  Then I used the awesome background stamp that comes in the You’ve Got This set (I think it’s really cool that we get a background stamp WITH the usual sentiment and image stamps!) and stamped twice with Crumb Cake ink.  The second time, I turned the stamp sideways and stamped a little lower down.

Lovely Amazing You Outside 1 watermarked

Then I inked up the pretty flower image with the new Watermelon Wonder ink and stamped it right over the background image.  I didn’t think it needed any more coloring than that!  The sentiment – from Lovely Amazing You – is ALSO in Watermelon Wonder.  To finish off the front, I used one of the new 2015-2017 In Color Blossom Accents.  I pulled a few strands from some 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon and glued them onto the stem of the flower with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I used a couple of glue dots and another dab of the liquid glue to adhere the flower.  I hemmed and hawed a bit between the Cucumber Crush Flower and the Watermelon Wonder.  Finally decided to give a tiny little pop of coordinating color and used the green!

Lovely Amazing You Outside 2 watermarked

I put the mat onto a Watermelon Wonder card base with some Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the front was done!

For the inside, I kept it simple.  I pulled two sentiments from the Hostess Set Good Greetings, and stamped them in Tip-Top Taupe on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I used my Stamp-a-ma-Jig to get the placement that I wanted.  That thing is just so handy!

Lovely Amazing You Inside 1 watermarkedI used the little heart from another of the new sets – Friendly Wishes – colored with Watermelon Wonder – to accent the sentiment.  I was a little too hesitant with my first stamping effort – so I had to re-stamp my stamp to get the heart to look correct.  Cue the Stamp-a-ma-Jig again! 🙂

With that – the card was done.  I decided to go a little crazy and make an envelope for this one.  What a happy coincidence that I’d ordered a set of the new 2015-2017 In Color Envelope Paper!!  I picked the striped paper (all the paper is solid color on one side and has a pattern on the other) in Watermelon Wonder, and built an envelope with the Envelope Punch Board.  I used Sticky Tape (will still be in the new catalog, but it will now have an easy-tear paper backing) to adhere the sides of my envelope together.  Then I put a couple of strips on the flap for my friend to close his envelope to mail home.

Lovely Amazing You with Envelope 1 watermarked
And – Done!  I really love how easy the Stampin’ Up! color coordination makes it to create cohesive sets.  Takes a whole lot of the guess-work out of it!

Hope that you like this share – and will consider the You’ve Got This and Friendly Wishes sets for your stash.

When you see the products used in this card  (below), remember that you’ll be able to click on all of them, but you won’t be able to order the new products until 2 June. Hey!  If you were a demonstrator, you COULD order the new products right now just like I did!  Whatcha think?  Give me a holler and let’s get you all hooked up!

It’s  a gorgeous day here in California – after being downright yucky icky yesterday.  Hope you’re having a wonderful Saturday.  Anyone seen the new Avengers yet?!!?  I haven’t had a shot yet, but I hope to get to see it in IMAX 3-D.  If you HAVE seen it – let me know how it was, okay?

Adventure Bound Hex’s

Tick tock tick tock….I’m counting the minutes until my order of new SNEAK PEAK 2015-2016 Annual Catalog toys arrives!!  Whoo-hoo!  In the meantime, I’ve got a quick and easy card to share with you today.  This design is very very versatile.  Change up the color of the die cut, use a different DSP and all of a sudden, a card very much suited for a man becomes more feminine.  Change “Happy” to “Hello” (from the same Hello You thinlit set – which is in the new catalog, OBTW!).  Use a different sentiment stamp….and you could have a really cute new baby card.  Take a look-see at what I’m talkin’ about:

Vintage Flower

Well, if you’ve been following my blog (thank you!), you’ll have realized that this posting is late!  I try to post something new to share on Friday morning – but it’s quite obviously NOT morning.  Or Friday!  If you were anxiously waiting by your e-mail for notice that I’d posted – many mea culpas (and also thank you again!). I’ve been flat covered up this week at work and last night?  Well, I looked at my card pics sitting patiently in my computer waiting to be watermarked and described and posted….and watched Grey’s Anatomy.  My plan was to blog.  Just like the night before.  When I watched Scandal instead.  Do you guys watch Scandal?  Scott Foley.  Hello?  Mmmmm-mmmm.  But, I digress….again.

For this week’s share, I decided to use a little more of the soon-to-be-gone Adventure Bound DSP.  The design I chose helped to drive the final outcome and the overall flavor of rustic/vintage.  Take a look-see:

Vintage Flower Outside 1 watermarked

I started with my flower.  First, using the Fun Flower punch (which is going to be available in the NEW catalog, too!), I cut out 5 flowers from two different patterns of the Typeset DSP.  Three of the flowers got a little age added to them with some Soft Suede sponged on the petals.  The other two I added a dab of color to with some sponged on Night of Navy.  Then, using the edge of my bone folder, I lightly curled the petals – like you’d curl wrapping paper ribbon.  Just a little – and when you do this, be gentle.  The Typeset DSP is thin – which makes it easy to tear.  But it also makes it curl perfectly!  I stacked up the flowers – alternating the colors – using Multipurpose Liquid Glue – and offsetting everything just enough to make the flower.  If you want to see how to make a slightly different kind of flower, head over to the Tutorials page!

Vintage Flower Close-up watermarked

To make the center, I made a little Linen Thread bow and cut out a Petite Petal flower from Night of Navy and one from the Typeset DSP (which got a little Soft Suede ink-if-ication) and pulled out a Something Borrowed embellishment.  Then I stacked those all on top of the flower with some more of the liquid glue and set it all aside to dry.  And then picked it back up to admire it.  And then set it aside again!  I am ridiculously enamored with how this flower turned out! 🙂

For the sentiment tag, I used the Thoughts and Prayers sentiment in Night of Navy, on a piece of Sahara Sand card stock.  I punched the end with the Hexagon Punch, sponged the edges with a little more Night of Navy, and SNAIL’d it to a similarly prepared piece of Night of Navy Card Stock.

For the card front, I SNAIL’d the Adventure Bound piece to a Night of Navy mat.  And then, due to my usual messy-self-osity, I saw a teensy smudge of Night of Navy ink on my pretty “wooden” panel.  So, I covered it up with a length of 7/8″ Sahara Sand lace ribbon!  Which actually turned out to be a pretty good idea….

At that point, I had a flower, a sentiment tag, and a card front.  And as I tried to lay the card out in my planned-for portrait orientation (with the lace band now sort of driving the location of the flower and sentiment), I just couldn’t make it work.  No flower placement looked right.  The sentiment was too long.  Did I mention at the start that I had not formed an actual PLAN for this card – I just wanted it to be rustic, and I wanted to make this flower (it had been circling in my head for a while – maybe I saw a similar one on Pinterest, I don’t know).  No clue what to DO with it all.  And then my light-bulb “aha!” moment happened – and I turned the card sideways (duh!).  And it was good…..

Vintage Flower Outside 2 watermarked

The flower is adhered with more of the Multi-purpose Liquid Glue, and the sentiment is SNAIL’d on, tucked just slightly under the flower.  At the last minute, I added one little Rhinestone Basic jewel…. then I popped the whole layered card front onto my Sahara Sand card base with some Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card front was done!

Vintage Flower Outside 1 watermarkedFor the inside, I used a scrap of the Typeset DSP, and cut out some Itty Bitty Accent Flowers from that and some more Petite Petals from the Night of Navy CS.  The Typeset flowers were sponged with a little more Night of Navy, and just barely curled with the bone folder. Each flower got a Rhinestone jewel – to coordinate with the front, and…

Vintage Flower Inside 1 watermarked

…the card was done!  I didn’t put a sentiment on the inside, cause that leaves the range of uses for this card wide open!

I hope that you like this share – and will forgive my tardiness in getting it to you this week.  I should tell you that the next few weeks of posting may be a little sporadic – as I mentioned at the start, work is pretty much taking up my entire energy store right now.  I’ll ask for your patience – don’t give up on me, baby!! 🙂

As I count down the days till I go home, it’s also the count down to the end of the Retiring Products and to the BIG REVEAL of the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog!  My box of catalogs arrived yesterday – and, of course, I’ve gotten to see the Sneak Peek, being a SU! Demonstrator, and all.  And, my order is on it’s way……

Speaking of which – if you’ve ever given any thought to becoming a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator yourself….now’s a great time!  You can stock your kit with NEW items – early!  Give me a holler and I can help you along!  Here’s a look at what I got to choose from – and what YOU could be ordering RIGHT NOW if you were a demo! A Whole Lot of Wonderful Vases!

This week, I opened another fun box of toys business investments 😉 from Stampin’ Up!  There were a couple of stamps in there that I’d been wanting to play with for a while.  For today, I picked one to make a quick and easy card with.  It’s the Vivid Vases stamp.  It’s fun to color, and you get a lot of bang for the stamp.  Take a look-see:

Whole Lot of Wonderful Outside 3 watermarked

I started by stamping the image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, using the Memento Black Ink.  Then I ran it thru the Big Shot, cutting the oval with the Ovals Collection Framelit.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image, and I was almost there!  I cut out a tiny heart from some Blackberry Bliss Card Stock, using my Hearts Border punch, and glued it on with a little dab of Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.  A tiny seed pearl brightens the center of the daisy.  And, cause I just thought it wanted a little extra sump’n sump’n, I put a bunch of little dots around the outside of the oval with my Perfect Plum Marker.

Whole Lot of Wonderful Outside Closeup watermarked

I SNAIL’d a Blackberry Bliss mat to one of my Whisper White Notecards (of Notecards and Envelopes fame – so it’s a smallish card).  I decided to keep the mat a little smaller than usual – I liked the contrast with the white card base.  And, after I popped the sentiment oval on the front with Dimensionals, I really liked the ratio of Blackberry Bliss to White.  The card front was done!

Whole Lot of Wonderful Outside 2 watermarked

The inside got a quick little stamp with a couple more vases (this time I used my Elegant Eggplant Ink Pad – no idea why except that it was new and I wanted to use it!), and some coloring.  I added the Celebrate sentiment, in Perfect Plum, from the Good Greetings Hostess Set.  And that was that.  Done!

Whole Lot of Wonderful Inside 1 watermarked

This is such a cute card, and it’s so quick to make – the little dots around the oval took the longest! – that I think it would be an awesome pick for a gift set for someone for….Mother’s Day?!? I just love these little vases, and am betting I’ll be using them a lot in the future.

Don’t forget the Butterfly Thinlits special going on right now thru the end of this month:

Blingy Barn-door Birthday

My card share for this week was a bit of a fluke.  I was trying for a more masculine card – or even kind of gender neutral.  And I wanted to play with more of the Adventure Bound DSP.  I didn’t start with a design from anywhere.  Just sat down and started putting things together.  And ended up really LOVING the result!!  Take a look-see:
Barn Door B-day Outside 1 watermarked

The front is just a Sahara Sand mat, with a piece of the Adventure Bound DSP SNAIL’d to it and then the entire layered piece is SNAIL’d to a Night of Navy Card Base.  I did take just a few minutes to lightly sponge the edges of the Sahara Sand mat with a little Night of Navy ink before I adhered everything together.

I used my Chalk Talk Framelits and cut out the largest of the dies from some more Sahara Sand card stock.  I edged it in Night of Navy with one of my handy Sponge Daubers.  Then I pulled out my favorite sentiment set  – Sassy Salutations – and I inked it up with Night of Navy.  It’s length drove the offset on the tag.

So, there I was – with a card front that looked like a barn door and a tag that said Happy Birthday.  And not a lot of inspiration.  I started digging thru my Biscotti-box of embellishments and came across some buttons in the Artisan Embellishment Kit.  As I played with a few of them, I realized that the silver button looked quite reminiscent of a concha on a western saddle.  Then it occurred to be that our Linen Thread could look like a lariat rope.  And…inspiration hit!

Barn Door B-day Outside 3 closeup watermarked

I SNAIL’d the tag onto the card from, and then wound up a length of Linen Thread into a loose lasso.  Using glue dots, I adhered the button and the “lariat” to the top of the tag – making it look (okay, maybe just a little and you have to suspend your understanding of how gravity works, but….) like a tag hanging from a peg on a barn wall.  Squint yer eyes – you’ll see it! I just had to add a little final “bling” with a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  Couldn’t help myself!

Barn Door B-day Outside 1 watermarked

That finished off the front and I moved inside.  I simply sponged another piece of Sahara Sand CS with Night of Navy ink, and SNAIL’d a scrap piece of the DSP across the bottom.  Easy peasy and done!

Barn Door B-day Inside watermarked

The end result is a card that I think could go to a man (even with the bling) or a woman.  I really like how it turned out – and I hope that you do, too! And, if you want to CASE this, but don’t have the Artisan Embellishment Kit, I think you could use one of the cool brads from the Antique Brads collection.

Here’s where we are on the Butterfly Thinlits.  This was posted Wednesday, 15 Apr:

“We have received notice from our supplier that the container with the Butterflies Thinlits Dies was finally unloaded from the ship; however, there is a shortage of trucks, which has delayed the container being picked up. We have secured a truck to pick up the container, and, as of now, it is scheduled to be delivered to Stampin’ Up! on Friday. We will post an update as soon as they are available.”

So – you should be able to go to my online store today sometime and order the Butterfly Framelits – here’s the info again on the special offer:

BUTTERFLY THINLITS SPECIAL PURCHASE OPPORTUNITY!

Starting from the day that the Butterflies Thinlits are again available and then continuing through April 30, there will be two special offers:

When you place your orders, don’t forget to use the April Hostess code – unless you hit $150 – then you’ll get your OWN Hostess Code and benefits.

Hope you’re getting off to a good week!

Splendor (and Butterflies!) in the Grass

The Adventure Bound DSP is wonderful paper.  I’ve gotten some cool cards made using it – but it takes a little thought.  It’s so photo-realistic that it tends to push me towards more literal “scenes” than some of the other paper we have.  Case in point – the card share I have for you today.  You all know I’m in California, which is – sadly – under one of the worst droughts they’ve seen in….well, forever?  So, I think when I put this card together and selected this particular DSP, I was craving some green grass.  Or perhaps that’s my subconscious telling me I’m homesick?  Whatever the cause, I pulled out the verdant green grass DSP.  And, since SU! doesn’t have Haflinger-pony-punkin-head-punches (are you listening, SU!??), I went for butterflies. Take a look-see:

Butterflies in the Grass b-d Outside 1 watermarked

My influence for this card layout came from the Pals Paper Arts design #245.

PPA245

Kind of obviously, I didn’t get 5 shapes across the bottom – but, I came close!  So, I started by punching my Bitty Butterflies with my Bitty Butterfly Punch, making sure to change the angle with each punch, so it would look more natural.  I dithered a bit about whether I wanted to have the Crushed Curry mat show thru the punches, but ultimately decided on a little bit of the wondrous Painted Blooms DSP.  Now, I certainly COULD have just SNAIL’d a strip of that paper behind the punches, but – no!  I wanted actual BLOOMS in the punched areas – and I couldn’t find anywhere on the Painted Blooms DSP that would put flowers in all three butterflies.  So….I carefully punched out 3 Bitty Butterflies from the DSP.  After trying to figure out how to adhere them down first and still get them inside the punched out butterflies…I finally ended up SNAILing the grassy DSP to the Crushed Curry mat and then ever-so-carefully adhering the Painted Blooms guys (with glue dots) inside the punches.  Yes, it was persnickety in the extreme!  But!  Once they were in, and accented with some Pearl Basic Jewels, and outlined with teensy White Gel Pen “stitches”….I was very glad I’d taken the time to do it this way.  The glue dots actually made them a little higher than the surrounding paper, so it gives it just a little texture.  I really love how they turned out!

Butterflies in the Grass B-day Outside 3 watermarked

For the sentiment, I cut out a circle of the grassy DSP with the Circle Collection Framelits and then a Crushed Curry circle mat with my 2 1/2″ punch.  I punched another Bitty Butterfly, and then SNAIL’d the two pieces together.  The sentiment comes from the Sale-a-Bration Big Day set – which I inked in Versamark, sprinkled with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and heat embossed.  Then I embellished my butterfly with more pearls and “stitches”!

I wrapped some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine around the layered card front, adhering it with tape on the backside and used a little piece of tape to pull the center together.  Then the sentiment circle is popped over the BT with some SU Dimensionals.  I attached the whole layered piece to my Mossy Meadow Card Base with more dimensionals and…the front was done!

Butterflies in the Grass B-day Outside 4 watermarked

On the inside, I started with a Crushed Curry liner, and punched 3 more Bitty Butterflies (I was on a roll!).  I almost got silly and let the Mossy Meadow show thru the punched shapes, but I caught myself just in the nick of time.  A little strip of grass is adhered with SNAIL behind the punches and then the whole liner was attached to the card.  I added my stitches – and then decided to leave the pearls off.  What do you think?  Should I add the pearls like is on the front, or….do you like them like this?

Butterflies in the Grass B-day Inside watermarked

So – that did it for the card.  I do really like looking at it – I can almost smell the grass and hear my pony-girls munching it – they’re pretty much munching machines, so this grass wouldn’t last over long!  I’m sticking their picture in here – cause it’s my blog post and I can! 😉  This is them in their stalls munching some hay.  They’re equal-opportunity-munchers!  And the tiniest bit spoiled, maybe….. this picture is from last summer.  They (and their big buddy Bo) spend the hot and buggy summer nights in their suites stalls, with hay and water and fluffy shavings and a fan (carefully positioned so they can stand IN the breeze or OUT of the breeze….).

Anyway – hope you enjoyed my share today.  And – I hope that you get yourself some of the Adventure Bound DSP from the 2015 Occasions catalog!

BUTTERFLY THINLITS RETURNING SOON!

There’s some cool news from Stampin’ Up! about the Butterfly Thinlit Dies and a special that I think will make a lot of you happy (like those of you who are hoping that the Butterfly Dies and the Irresistibly Yours DSP will stick around).  Read on:

Stampin’ Up! notified us that the Butterflies Thinlits Dies should be back in the warehouse and available for ordering around April 15 (something GOOD on tax day!!). They’d hoped the dies would arrive in time for Sale-A-Bration, and when that didn’t happen, they hoped they’d be here in time for the Free Shipping promotion. Well, sadly, that didn’t happen either.  So….. they decided to do a special offer!

Starting from the day that the Butterflies Thinlits are again available and then continuing through April 30, there will be two special offers:

1.  Get the Butterflies Thinlits at a 15 percent discount–just $21.20! (so if you already have the Butterfly Basics stamp set, you’ll be able to complete the bundle at a great discount!

–OR —

2. Buy any of the Butterflies Thinlits Bundles at the already-discounted price and choose one of three FREE Sale-A-Bration items (only available while supplies last)!

  • Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper (item 138633)
  • Best Year Ever Accessory Pack (item 138634)
  • Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper (item 138635)

So, if you’ve been anxiously awaiting the return of the Butterflies Thinlits….it looks like your ship is rounding the dock into port (that’s actually what’s been holding things up, so….it’s a bit of a pun!).  Keep your eyes peeled for the return of the flutterby’s and grab you some!!

Today’s the last day for this edition of the Weekly Deals.  I’m hemming and hawing over whether to just break down and get the stars and hearts framelits….  I already got the Flower Fair ones, and the buttons and the ribbon and the punch….decisions, decisions!

When you place your orders, don’t forget to use the April Hostess code – unless you hit $150 – then you’ll get your OWN Hostess Code and benefits.

Hope you’re getting off to a good week!

Well, Shut the Barn Door – Congratulations, My Friend!!

Last week, in the midst of remembering a bad time in her life, my bestest friend got some really GREAT news.  Her SECOND novel was published and on-the-street!!  Whoo-hoo!  So – at the same time that I was making a “Thinking about You” card, I was putting together a “Congratulations” card!  I’d recently gotten the Wondrous Wreath bundle – stamp set and dies – 15% off – and wanted to try it out.  And, one of my Happy Stampers cohorts had recently shared a gate-type card…..so….I killed two cards with one die-cut, as it were.  Take a look-see:

Now, folks.  I have a terrible confession to make to you here today.  I am not a completely dumb person (no, THAT’S not the terrible confession!), but this card kind of bamboozled me!  I didn’t have the card cuts, so I had to…..gasp…do MATH!  And it was ever so hard math, too!  Or at least it APPEARED to be.  Not.  Really – take the long side, divide by two.  Divide that by two.  And wa-la.  Except I had to wa-la like 4 times before it opened and closed correctly.  I didn’t take pictures of the 3 times that weren’t so stellar.  No digital evidence except this blog, and I’ll swear I was hacked! 🙂  But, I finally got it.  And here’s what it looks like open:

Congrats Gate Card Outside 5 open watermarked

I started with a piece of Crushed Curry Card Stock – 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″.  I scored and folded it at 2 1/8″ from each short end.  Then, I dug back into my Adventure Bound DSP and decided to make the “gate” card look like….a gate!  I cut the DSP to fit and SNAIL’d the pieces onto the two “doors” and also onto a square for the front of the card.  That 3″ square piece of Crushed Curry “closes” the gate (although it doesn’t “hold” anything closed).  It’s just SNAIL’d onto the left (as you look at it) door of the gate – and not on the other side (she says needlessly!).

Then I started to play with the Wonderful Wreath for the barn door.  The stamp is a 2 or 3 part set, so I stamped the first piece in Crushed Curry (this is all on some Whisper White CS), the second step is in Calypso Coral and the final piece is in Bermuda Bay.  With the wreath all stamped and festive looking, I cut it out with the matching die.  I also cut the “ribbon bow” out – in Crushed Curry – with its die.  I used some Dimensionals to put the wreath onto the “door” and Glue-Dot’d the bow in place.  And then didn’t like how it looked – kinda nekkid and lonesome.  So, I made a little Linen Thread Bow and glued that on with a little Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. But it still wasn’t – quite – right…..So, I glued one of the Something Borrowed embellishments on top of the bows (with a couple of Glue Dots).  And THEN it was juuuuuuuusssst right! 🙂

I stamped the sentiment from the Bitty Banner Bundle in Calypso Coral onto a piece of Daffodil Delight CS and die cut it with the coordinating framelit.  I SNAIL’d that onto the wreath and added a few Crushed Curry and Daffodil Delight Itty Bitty Flowers (from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch pack) with glue dots.  The flowers each got a small Rhinestone Jewel and….the front gate was done!

The inside started with a piece of Whisper White CS and got a Crushed Curry sentiment from the Simply Wonderful stamp set.  Rounding out the inner liner is the Simply Wonderful flower that I inked up with my Crushed Curry and Wild Wasabi Stampin’ Write Markers.  Done!

I hope it gave her a smile when she opened it – that it made her think of barns and horses and the open prairie of Colorado where she lives.  And that it lifted her heart! 🙂

And I hope that YOU enjoyed my share for the day!
