Stampin’ Up! Whale Done Color Blocking with a Video Tutorial!

Happy Friday, y’all!  Been a busy week here, don’t know how it’s been for you.  Our garden picked this week to decide to BURST at the seams!  I had tomatoes and green beans and chile peppers and tomatillos EVERYWHERE.  On every counter surface and in every rinse/drain container I own.  So, yesterday I decided I’d better get them “processed”.   Let me just say – I can wait a long time to peel and roast another tomatillo, y’all!

Except…I won’t be able to wait – cuz those boogers are just tomatillo-ing their little hearts out! I’ll be peeling/roasting/blending again before I know it!

If you were able to join me yesterday for my YouTube live, I appreciate you spending some time with me – if not, but you’d like to see the replay, here ’tis! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Sunflowers Do a World of Good for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a color challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw our colors I knew I was going to be making a sunflower – or two! – using the new Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set and bundled Sunflowers Dies.  And I also figured the World of Good DSP would have some goodness in it, too!  The Many Mates set lent the perfect sentiment.  Take a look-see:

Can you – possibly?!? – guess our colors?? 🙂

I pulled a layout idea from this week’s Sunday Stamps challenge!

And it fits perfectly with the Global Design Project‘s Theme challenge, too. 🙂

I started with a piece of Bumble Bee paper from the wunnermus World of Good DSP pack, that I matted on Old Olive for the card front.

Using a Stitched Rectangle Die – and running it half way thru my die cutting machine then moving the die and going back thru the machine the other direction (to create a longer die cut) – I cut a rectangle of Old Olive.  Then I stamped the piece of card stock with the two leaves images from Celebrate Sunflowers in Old Olive for a tone-on-tone look.

Finally – I embossed the panel in the new Old World Paper 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On another piece of the same Bumble Bee paper from the World of Good DSP set, I used my Stamparatus to stamp both sunflower images in Early Espresso.  I cut the large flower with the die from the Sunflowers Dies – and fussy cut the small flower.   There IS a die for the smaller flower – but I trimmed off the leaves so…fussy cutting was the way to go!

On Old Olive, I stamped two large leaves and one of the small double-leaf images in Old Olive – then cut them with their matching dies.  I also cut the corresponding detailed leaves from Old Olive.

From Early Espresso – I cut the large detailed flower and two flower centers.

Using Liquid Glue just in the middle – I adhered the detailed flower to the large die cut.  I also adhered the detailed leaves to their solid leaf die cuts.

On yet another piece of the World of Good DSP, I used my Stamparatus to stamp a Many Mates sentiment in Early Espresso.  Then I cut it out with a Stitched Rectangle Die and adhered it to the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I laid everything out – and started assembling!

I cut a smallish Stiched Shapes square from Brass Foil, embossed it in the Old World 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the large leaves to the card front with Liquid Glue – then added the large flower with more Liquid Glue.  I popped a flower center on this one with a Black Stampin’ Dimensional.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the small leaves to the back of the small flowers and the second flower center to the…center! 🤔

Then I used a Glue Dot to wind some gold trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo Pack.  I added a bow tied from a piece of 1/4″ Bumble Bee Gingham Ribbon with another Glue Dot.

Finally – I added a couple of Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to the card front – and a Glue Dot to the middle of the gingham bow – and adhered the small flower.  Note: I left the covers on the dimensionals. I wanted their support – but did NOT want the flower to lay down that tightly.  Make sense?

To finish off – I got a little jiggy with the color challenge and added a Cinnamon Cider 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dot to the sentiment – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the small flower a few times in Early Espresso on a Very Vanilla panel.  And that was it!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Celebrate Sunflowers flowers on the front in Early Espresso…

And a little more World of Good DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This card has so many elements I love – the Celebrate Sunflowers, die cut with their matching Sunflowers Dies.  World of Good DSP – with it’s old world look.  A little Old World Paper 3D Embossing.  And a collage!  Score!  Of course, Many Mates slides in with the perfect sentiment for this custom-order card!  I hope you like – and that this is on your wish list.

Or…your Bought-it-watching-for-the-UPS-truck list! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Forever Blossoms with Video Tutorial for the Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a Color Challenge from the talented JayDee this week and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo!  I hope you’ll come and play along.  🙂

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

The color palette for our challenge didn’t really “scream” one thing or another when I saw it – which meant it was wide open for me!  I finally decided to play with a sponging and silhouette technique – using the pretty floral from the Forever Blossoms stamp set.  Take a look-see:

And here’s this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge!  Hope you’ll join the fun and show us your projects!  I can’t wait to see what you create!  🙂

The layout is from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

This is really easy so – I hope you’ll try it!

I started with a Whisper White panel for the card front.   From a second, identically sized, piece of card stock, I cut a Stitched Nested Label – this one is 4 1/4″ from tip-to-tip.

Using repositionable adhesive (like this one), I tacked the die cut panel to the Whisper White panel.

With sponge wedges, I sponged the middle of the opening with So Saffron.  I used Seaside Spray on the top and bottom.  Go easy – start lightly and off the edge with your sponge.  🙂

When I had the color to the depth that I wanted it, I picked up my mask and used a rubber eraser to remove the little adhesive dots.

I placed the panel in my Stamparatus and used it to stamp the big floral image from Forever Blossoms in Granite Gray.  I stamped it a couple of times to get the image as dark as I wanted.

I stamped the Forever Blossoms sentiment in Gray Granite and then added some faux stitches around the shape with my Gray Granite Stampin’ Write Marker.

I matted the panel on So Saffron for the card front.  With my Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blend, I colored three Pearl Basic Jewels and adhered them here and there.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Forever Blossoms in Gray Granite on Whisper White.  I added part of the large floral image in Gray Granite – and lightly colored just the middles of the flowers with the Dark So Saffron Blend.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a So Saffron mat and into my Seaside Spray card base, popped the card front on with Stampin Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the Forever Blossoms image again in Gray Granite and So Saffron on the front…

…and some Seaside Spray 2019-2021 In Color 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Mark the day – no layering, no bows, minimal bling! – is this REALLY a Mary card?!?  Yes – ’tis!  I love how this Forever Blossoms stamp set worked for the silhouetted image – perfect without die cutting or adding any “extras” to it.  It’s just that gorgeous of an image!  I hope you like!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Now – before you reach for your ink and papers, check out what our amazing team has created to inspire you this week:

Stampin’ Up! Lifetime of Lasting Elegance

Good Monday morning, y’all!  Hope you’re heading into a stress-free week!

Did you know….Have you HEARD?!?  We’ve got another Sale-A-Bration Release coming on 3 Mar for you!  Whoo-hooo!!  Keep reading and I’ll bring you a digital peek!

The card I made today uses the sweet Last A Lifetime stamp set and the bundled Lasting Elegance Dies.  AND – I’ve used a couple of new papers from the Sale-A-Bration second release.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

And my color palette is from the Color Throwdown challenge.

Now – what’s that gorgeous flower you see on the front of my card??  It’s fussy-cut from one of the new papers in the SAB Second Release – called Flowering Foils Specialty DSP.  When you select this $50-Level 1 SAB 2 reward, you’ll get twelve single-sided sheets of four designs.  All the papers are foil-embossed in Rose Gold or Silver foil.  They’re made for coloring, too – with sponges/daubers, Sponge Brayer, Stampin’ Blends…what have you!  Check them out!

To create my card, I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock that I ran thru my die-cutting machine with the corner frame die from the Lasting Elegance die set.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat.

Using the 2 7/8″ wide rectangle die from the Stitched So Sweetly die set, I cut out a square from a piece of Pool Party embossed vellum from…the new So Very Vellum Specialty Vellum.  THIS is another new pack of paper – it’s a $50 Level-1 SAB 2 reward, too!  And you’ll get 6 sheets of dry-embossed vellum  – 2 each in Pool Party, Purple Posy and Soft Sea Foam!

I used Glue Dots to adhere the vellum square to the corner of the Whisper White panel.

I cut the small corner die from Lasting Elegance from a piece of Whisper White.  Left by itself, the die cuts the design from a piece of card stock – leaving negative space.  By placing the die on the corner of the card stock…

…and then using the outline die and running it back thru the machine…you’ll end up with a die cut corner!

I adhered that to the vellum square with a little Liquid Glue.

I stamped a sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set (from the Annual Catalog) in Night of Navy on Whisper White and cut it with a Stitched So Sweetly Die – then adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue

I used Glue Dots to wind a length of Petal Pink 1/4″ Metallic-Edged Ribbon….

For the flower, I colored one of the large foiled flowers in the new Flowering Foils Specialty DSP (coming on 3 Mar) with my Petal Pink and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Combo Packs and my Light Night of Navy and So Saffron Blends.  Then I fussy cut the flower and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a medium Champagne Rhinestone to the sentiment and the card front was done!

On the inside, I cut the frame from Lasting Elegance again from a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink, I stamped the large flower image from the Last A Lifetime stamp set.  I colored the flower image with my Petal Pink and Pool Party stampin’ Blends Combo Packs and my Light Night of Navy and So Saffron Blends.  Then I added a few Champagne Rhinestones.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Last A Lifetime flower on the front…

…and more colored Flowering Foils Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How beautiful is the Last A Lifetime stamp set and bundled Lasting Elegance Dies???

And I KNOW you’re excited for those beautiful new papers, right??  Well – 3 March, they can be yours!  Along with all the other goodies that you can get for free – check them out!

Or…JOIN MY TEAM right now, and you can pre-order them as a demonstrator!  The awesome Sale-A-Bration Joining Special is still available – and I would LOVE to have you on my team!  Check out all the deets right here!

We have Big Balls!

Hey – none of that, now.  Get out the gutter!!

We have FITNESS balls – and they’re Big!

I got them blown up yesterday.  I did the biggest one with the tiny little hand pump included in the box.

THAT was a bit of a workout all on its own.

Finn…supervised.

What is this fresh nonsense, Mom??

Once I FINALLY got it all blown up and corked off (as it were), I just stepped back and let him look it over.

He spent some time woofing at it – just in case there was any doubt who was in charge of what around here!

He did sniff it a time or two…

But mostly he kept a careful distance.

I asked the Dad to blow up to two smaller balls.

HE used the air compressor in the barn.  Duh!!  WAAAAY quicker!

Once they were blown up – I let them loose in the aisle.

And – of course – did NOT have my phone.  So…didn’t catch the bounding and pawing and playing and pushing-the-ball that happened.  But – I will soon!

He may never play trei-ball competitively, but…I DO think he’s going to have some fun herding our Big Balls! 🙂

Morning, y’all!  Happy Sunday!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video – I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me!  If not – but you’d like to see how to make these fun decorations, here’s the replay. 🙂

A customer – and friend! – asked me about using Vellum and battery tea lights with the Mini Curvy Keepsake dies.  She also asked about using the Delicata inks on the Vellum.  So…I did it all – and made some Christmas and wedding/anniversary decorations.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Well Written Path of Petals Anniversary

Hey y’all!  How’s the haps on this Tuesday?

Last week my friend in Colorado asked me for a special Anniversary card for some good friends of hers who are celebrating their 50th Anniversary.  Which is pretty darned cool!  I asked for some specifics and wrote down: grasses/prairie, horses, down-to-earth, vintage.

Then I stewed for a while.  I flipped pages in the catalog for ideas.  I knew I wanted to use the Friendly Silhouettes Dies for the grasses.  And the Let It Ride set for the horse element.  I also figured Well Said/Well Written for the sentiments.  But I wanted a…..better?…sentiment, too.  I finally found it in the Path of Petals stamp set.  And I saw a fun card front treatment in the catalog, sooo…putting it all together, here’s what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

I started with a Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes card.  I matted some Mossy Meadow 6″ x 6″ DSP (from the Neutrals pack) on Mossy Meadow card stock for the card front.

Then I pulled out the Come Sail Away DSP and cut 6 – 1″ x 4″ strips of the newsprint design.  I used my Paper Snips to rough up the edges of each strip and then sponged them with Crumb Cake using Sponge Daubers.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the strips to the card front and then added mini staples (from a non-Stampin’ Up! stapler) for a vintage-y decoration.

With the grasses die in the Friendly Silhouettes Dies, I cut one in Gold Foil (50th Anniversary!), one in Mossy Meadow and one from an extra piece of a Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Card.  I adhered the Mossy Meadow die cut to the Gold die cut – offsetting them a bit for some depth – using Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue (and added a couple more mini staples).

I stamped “Anniversary” from the Well Said stamp set in Early Espresso on more of the Come Sail Away DSP.  Over the word I stamped the grazing horses from Let It Ride in Crumb Cake ink.  Then I cut it out with a Stitched Nested Label Die, roughed up the edges with the Snips and sponged it with Crumb Cake.

I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back and used them to wind/adhere a few loops of Linen Thread and popped it onto the card front – nestling it down in the grasses a little.

I used the die from Well Written to cut a Gold Foil “Happy” and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

To finish it off, I tied a Linen Thread Double-Loop Bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Over top I added a simple bow in Mossy Meadow Linen Thread from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.  Finally, I added a Gold Metallic Pearl – and the card was done!

For the inside, I added the Let It Ride horses in stamped-off-once Crumb Cake to a Very Vanilla panel.  Over the top, using my Stamparatus, I added the perfectly perfect sentiment from Path of Petals in Mossy Meadow.   I used Liquid Glue to add about a half of the Friendly Silhouettes grasses that I’d cut earlier from the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Card.  I finished up with another Gold Metallic Pearl.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Card, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

The matching Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Envelope got more Crumb Cake Let It Ride grazing horses on the front…

…and I added a Come Sail Away DSP Envelope Liner (I traced the shape of the liner that comes with the Magnolia Lane Large Specialty Memories & More Cards & Envelopes, then fussy cut it – and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake) with Liquid Glue.

Et Voila!  So…uses a lot of elements, yes.  Has multiple steps…yes.  But – nothing very hard – and I think they pieces and parts all come together to create the card I was going for!  I love the versatility of the Well Said stamp set and Well Written Dies – and the wonderful sentiment from Path of Petals is just right for an Anniversary or Wedding card.  I hope you like!

Apparently I wasn’t paying enough attention to The Man and Mr. Reindeer yesterday afternoon.

So – The Man brought Mr. Reindeer VERY CLOSE!!

It was pretty close – and moving fast! – so…sorta hard to get a picture.

He.  Was. On. A. Mission.

The mission was successful.  And – interestingly – Katy just watched in disgust.  But she didn’t leave.

Younger brothers are just something dignified cats have to deal with, I suppose.

Insert long-suffering-feline-sigh…

Stampin’ UP! Come Sail Away Sneak Peek!

Good morning!  Have you been scouring the Retiring List?  Making sure you’ve grabbed up your favorites?  Are you one of those folks who does NOT own Lovely as a Tree – and figured it would “be available forever and ever and no need to buy it now!”??  Well…uhm…yea.  That’s not happening!  So…don’t assume your faves will always be here – get them NOW!  Just sayin’!

As the old and wonderful get ready to take their swan song, the NEW and wonderful are waiting in the wings to WOW you!  One of those is the new Come Sail Away Suite that I demo’d this past weekend.  I thought I’d show one of those samples to you today – in a little more detail – so that you can get a really good look at the Sailing Home stamp set and Smooth Sailing Dies – all available to customers on 4 Jun!  Take a look-see:

This one is easier to make than you might think – so…here we go! 🙂

I started with a piece of Night of Navy card stock and the Seaside TIEF (which is on the Retiring List, folks – so….be sure you get it before you can’t!).  With my Craft Whisper White Ink Pad, I swiped across the DEBOSSING side of the TIEF – so the indented side.  I made sure I had good coverage then carefully placed the Night of Navy panel in the folder and ran it thru the Big Shot.  When it came out – boom!!  Instant “water” – which I enhanced even more by brushing Clear Wink of Stella over the raised “waves”.

I matted the panel on Sahara Sand to create the card front.

Next up, using the grasses die in the new Smooth Sailing Dies – available on 4 June! – I cut one from Old Olive and two from Mossy Meadow.  These I adhered to the card front with Liquid Glue – only at the bottom of the die cuts, letting the tops sort of “float”.  See what I did there? 😉

I did the same with a grass die cut from Vellum card stock – did you hear me mention on the demonstration that there is COLORED Vellum in the new 20190-2020 Annual Catalog?  Yep – it’s in the Perennial Essence Vellum pack 12″ x 12″ sheets in Old Olive, Petal Pink and So Safffron!  Whoo-hooo!

The anchor, from the Sailing Home stamp set, is stamped in Sahara on Whisper White and cut with the matching die from the Smooth Sailing Die set.  I used a length of the new Night of Navy & Sahara Sand Baker’s Twine (part of the Suite and coming on 4 June), looped it thru the top of the die cut anchor, tied a knot and then adhered the anchor on with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Sailing Home sentiment in Mossy Meadow on Whisper White, cut it out with the label die in Smooth Sailing, and popped it over all the sea grass and anchor with Dimensionals.

Some Pearl Basic Jewels scattered here and there finished off the card front!

On the inside, on a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the anchor in Sahara Sand.  Then, I used my Sponge Daubers and the card stock “stencils” created when I cut the grasses for the card front! – to sponge some grass on and around the anchor in Old Olive and Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Sahara Sand mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I repeated the Sailing Home/Smooth Sailing stamping and stencil sponging on the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and then I stamped the anchor onto the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How excited are you about this Come Sail Away Suite?!?  This product suite has so many good elements in it – and it’s going to be an awesome tool for all your crafting needs – especially for creating those frequently-problematic masculine cards.  I hope you like – and have now written this suite down as one of your first purchases when the new catty comes out in June!  Unless you want it RIGHT NOW.  I can help you with that!  Give me a shout! 🙂

P.S. Be sure to check out the Seaside TIEF and all the other great products that are retiring soon – get them while they last! 🙂

Carryover Clear-Mount and Wood-Mount Stamps

The lists sort of make it look like every single stamp set from the 2018-19 Annual Catalog is being retired – but that is not the case.  Rather, the stamp sets currently offered in clear-mount or wood-mount (in the 2018–2019 Annual Catalog), that ARE carrying over – are simply being transitioned to Cling Mount.

These transition sets that will be in the 2019–2020 annual catalog –  will continue to be offered in clear-mount and/or wood-mount until existing inventory has been depleted or until June 4, 2019 (whichever comes first).  If the inventory is depleted, you will be notified of the automatic switch to cling when placing an order for that stamp set. This means that you may end up purchasing select cling stamp sets (in carryover artwork) before they can be ordered from the catalog!  All carryover rubber stamp sets will be available in cling medium only (with the exception of background stamps in North America) beginning June 4, 2019.

Click here to see the list of stamp sets that ARE carrying over as Cling sets. 🙂

Any other stamp sets on the 2018-19 Annual Catalog retiring list that are NOT on this list will be retired.  Sorry again for the confusion!  Stampin’ Up! is aware of it and hopefully will be posting an updated list for us.

Stampin’ Up! To Have & To Hold Lovely Lattice

Happy Friday!  And – it’s the last work day before we get to go back to the best time of the year.  I speak, of course, of Daylight Savings Time!  The time of later light at night.

And yes – I know – it’s dark longer in the morning – but that’ll fix itself in good time!

Folks – it’s the presaging of SPRING!

Just squint yer eyes real hard and ignore that snow and nasty cold rain outside – DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.

Almost.  Spring.

Now – a lot of folks get married in the Spring, and – some years ago – my friend’s parents did, too!  Since we’ve known them, we’ve been pulled into their family – we have holiday dinners and celebrations with them.  So…it’s only fitting that I make an Anniversary card for them.  And how handy that SU! released the perfect set in the Occasions catalog – called To Have & To Hold.  And I paired it with the FREE Lovely Lattice stamp set!  Take a look-see:
