Morning, y’all! Happy Sunday!
If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video – I appreciate you spending part of your weekend with me! If not – but you’d like to see how to make these fun decorations, here’s the replay. 🙂
A customer – and friend! – asked me about using Vellum and battery tea lights with the Mini Curvy Keepsake dies. She also asked about using the Delicata inks on the Vellum. So…I did it all – and made some Christmas and wedding/anniversary decorations. Take a look-see:
The wedding/anniversary lantern plays along nicely with this week’s Global Design Project challenge!
Isn’t it pretty? For that one, I cut the Mini Curvy Keepsake Die from a piece of Petal Pink Perennial Essence Vellum. While I was cutting, I also cut out a snowflake from the very bottom (you’ll see why in a minute!) with a die in the set.
I covered it with large So Many Stars stars in Gold Glitz Delicata Metallic Ink and Silvery Shimmer small scattered stars. I used my Heat Tool on the low setting to help the ink dry – the Delicata inks take a little longer anyway and that’s increased when on Vellum!
Before adding the decorations, I popped a battery-operated tea light into the inside – helping it stay put with a couple of Glue Dots.
For the sentiment, I used the MR&MRS from the Piece of Cake stamp set, in Silvery Shimmer Delicata Metallic Ink and then cut it with a Stitched Stars die. I cut a larger star from Gold Glimmer Paper and popped the sentiment onto it with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I adhered the stacked star with Liquid Glue and then added a big bow from 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim (I used my Bow Easy – you can see how to make the double loops on the video!). The bow is adhered with a Glue Dot!
And…here’s how it looks all lit up!
I also made a trio of Holiday lanterns – with sentiments from the So Many Stars stamp set. Check out the video to see “Love”! 🙂
These are made the same way – using Vellum card stock. The sentiments are stamped in Real Red – and not stacked.
I cut them with a Stitched Stars die and adhered them with Liquid Glue to the box.
I cut pine boughs from Shaded Spruce card stock, using the dies in the Mini Curvy Keepsake Die set. These are adhered with Liquid Glue and have a few Gold Glitter Enamel Dots (from the Christmastime is Coming set coming on 1 Nov) at their bases.
The bows for these guys are made with Shaded Spruce/Gold 3/8″ Striped Ribbon – adhered with Glue Dots.
And here’s how these babies look with their little lights a-shining!
Now – remember that snowflake I cut in the bottom of the Curvy Keepsake Box? Here’s why…
When I stuck the tea light in – with a couple of Glue Dots – the switch is positioned over that cut out. Which means…I’ll be able to turn my light on and off when I need it! 😉
Et Voila! The Mini Curvy Keepsake Box Dies come thru again! Can’t you just see these on a wedding reception table, for a Bridal Shower, at Christmas dinner or on an Open House buffet? I sure can!
I hope you like!

Those little tea light keepsake boxes are fantastic!! Love the touch of shimmer from the delicata inks. Perfect! Beautiful sunset, hope that you didn’t get pounded with too much rain from the storm!
We got a lot – but it wasn’t a downpour just a nice steady farmer’s rain all day long. We needed it desperately – so I’m not complaining!! Thanks so much, Amy! 🙂
Those boxes are just cute as can be! I love how versatile they are. The grandgirls would love them!
Wow, what a sunset! 🌞
It was stunning! Thanks, Susan – I think you and the girls will have a lot of fun making them! 🙂
We had that same sunset…breathtaking! We saw deer along with it. I love these projects and look forward to making some when we get back.
I’m sure there were deer somewhere – but we couldn’t look away from the sky to see them. Even Finn was looking! Thanks, Karen – have fun making lanterns!
Beautiful sunset, but hardly rivals our Iowa sunsets. Yes, the video was as great as expected. Love those little lanterns! Now, I have to spend more money and get that die and the Delicatas. Tried to order last time and it was not available. Have your read your new Our Iowa?
I have read it – cover to cover. I’m always envious of the spotlight farm in each issue! It’s quite beautiful in the Fall, I admit! And looks to be the same in the summer. Winter, on the other hand…not for this kid! I can tell you that the camera on my phone simply could not do the sunset justice. It’s was – jaw-dropping. Thanks, Julie – and yep – GET that ink!! 🙂
Dang, I seem to have lost my reply, if it shows up, just delete this one.
I like these little lights very much, even though I haven’t watched the video yet. We’re on the road home from Colorado. I will be casing this craft asap! Thank you for the great idea.
You bet, Kathy! Glad that you like them! Have a safe trip home! 🙂
