Stampin’ Up! January 2017 Online Host Club Openings Available!

Hello again – this is my second post for the day.  If you’re looking for my card share – check it out right here! 🙂

I wanted to let you all know that I have openings in my Online Host Club.  We’re coming to the end of the first club and it’s been wonderful! Everyone has enjoyed their new goodies and getting some great Stampin’ Rewards!

The next Club will begin in January and I’m letting y’all know so that you can get your names on the list!  Here’s how the club will work.

We’ll have 6 people in each club – yes, we can do more than one at a time, so….if you’re interested, let me know right away and I’ll get your name on the list!

Each person in the club commits to ordering at least $25 in product each month for 6 months.  When we kick off in January, I’ll put everyone’s name in a hat and draw names for who will be the host in any given month.  So, you’ll know before we even get going which is “your” month!

Each host is guaranteed at least a $150 “show” total – and you’re more than welcome to invite your friends, people you meet at the grocery store, neighbors, enemies :), to join and order with your host code to increase the show total!

At the end of the month, the host and I chat on the phone and I put her order in.

So – what are all the benefits?

  1. You get all the bennies of being a show host without any hassle!  Everyone places their order thru my Online Store and uses the month’s Host Code.  All their goodies go directly to them!
  2. While you’re a member of the Club, you’ll get DOUBLE Peppermint Points on each of your Club Orders.  Peppermints add up to free goodies! When you collect 16 – you get to select a $40 goody – free! – and I’ll even pay the shipping and taxes.
  3. At the end of the club, each member will get to select a free stamp set valued at $20 from any active catalog! 🙂
  4. For this Jan – Jun 2017 Club, the first few months will be Sale-A-Bration!  Where every $50 ordered yields a FREE goody from the Sale-A-Bration flyer!  That always pushes show totals up – so it’s a great time of year to host!
  5. Being a member of my Club automatically makes you a Punkin’ Head – meaning for one year, you’ll automatically get any new catalog (2017-2018 Annual Catalog, 2017 Holiday Catalog, 2018 Occasions Catalog, 2018 Sale-a-Bration) FREE.

I’m sure I’ve forgotten something – but you can check all the details right here!

And – if you don’t know about my Punkin Head Rewards Program – check that out right here!

Hope you’ll give it a thought and get signed up!  It’s fun! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Better Together Seaside Shore Sympathy Card

Good morning, y’all – it’s Friday and it’s Veteran’s Day!  For many it’s a day off – please take a moment to reflect on the reason for the Holiday!  And if you see one – thank a Vet for the freedoms you enjoy today!  I saw a great sign on Facebook – it read “The flag does not fly because the wind blows it, it flies with the last breath of each Soldier who died protecting it.”  Very true – but add Sailor, Airman, and Marine!  Thank you one and all! 🙂

Finn’s had a busy couple of days – and learned a lesson or two.  Not all of them fun – but all of them necessary.  The other night (Wednesday now), he got a little closer to the ponies than he should have – and…got bonked.  Or stepped on.  We’re not entirely sure – I was leading Cerah and Wayne was pulling feed.  I know she didn’t kick him.  But he cried like he’d been shot.  Broke my heart. 🙁  He wasn’t hurt – just had a red spot by his nose.  He did, however, learn a lesson that every farm dog has to learn at some point – ya gotta watch out for the business end of the horses!  He was much less interested this morning in running in to try to grab a horse tail, I can tell you!

Still made me feel awful, even though I know it was the best kind of lesson.  Why was it a good lesson?  He didn’t get seriously injured and neither I nor Wayne had anything at all to do with it – it was all the pony and the dog.  So we didn’t “do” anything to him – he did it to himself.

Okay.  Yea.  Even knowing all that, I still feel bad. 🙁

On Thursday – he was over the trauma (other than his lack of interest in another close encounter!)….

finn-eating-5-12-months
A little breakfast (almost time for the stand to raise his bowl up, huh?), followed by a nap…

finn-sleeping-upside-down-5-12-months
…and then a trip in the golf cart!

finn-on-the-golf-cart-5-12-months
He’s not old enough to drive yet – not even in dog years!  I think he’d give it a shot, though, given the opportunity!

So, we made it thru the trauma of the “pony lesson” and recovered well.  All that’s left is a little pink area – just enough to make the mom feel bad every time she sees it. 😉

While he was recovering, I was making a special request Sympathy card.  No…not the Sitting Here stamp set this time.  This request was for a more religious card, with a Cross on it.  And with a seashore and shells theme.

So I pulled out the Seaside Shore, Better Together and the lovely Thoughts & Prayers stamp sets.  Added in a little Botanical Builder Framelits and Serene Scenery DSP and…take a look-see:

better-together-seaside-shore-4-stamps-n-lingers
I started with a piece of the ocean-y paper in Serene Scenery as my card front.  The Cross is a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, stamped in Crumb Cake ink using the Hardwood background stamp.  I cut two pieces – 3/8″ wide each – and sponged them all over with more Crumb Cake.  For the longer piece, I snipped the “bottom” on a slight diagonal – I was planning ahead (for once!) to make it look like the Cross was dug into the sand.  Then I sponged the edges with Early Espresso.  A quick burnish on the back with my stylus gave each piece some depth and then I adhered the pieces together with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

better-together-seaside-shore-2-stamps-n-lingers
Before I stuck the Cross onto the card front, I pulled out the grasses image from the Wetlands stamp set and stamped it once in Crumb Cake on the card front.  Then I laid the Cross down – the way I planned it to go (kind of leaning) – and stamped the grasses again – going over the Cross.  That made it look like the grasses were growing up around it.

I wrapped a length of Kraft Rope Trim around the Cross, adhering it lightly with Liquid Glue, and then popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

better-together-seaside-shore-3-stamps-n-lingers
I made a bunch of shells and starfish from the Seaside Shore stamp set.  I heat embossed shells in Copper and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Poweder. I stamped several in Bermuda Bay ink and then quickly sprinkled them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated them up.  I also made some starfish, stamping them in Marina Mist and then sprinkling them with Clear emboss powder and heating them.  Then I fussy cut them all.

I also employed the Botanical Builder Framelits, cutting some tiny flowers in Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette and Pool Party.  I added some Enamel Shapes – in Bermuda Bay, Marina Mist and Pool Party to the Very Vanilla flowers.

Once I had everything cut out, it was time to decorate the Cross!

better-together-seaside-shore-8-stamps-n-lingers
I used Liquid Glue and small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional and just added shells and flowers and starfish until it looked good!  At the bottom of the cross, I used my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to add some “wet sand” to help it look like the Cross is buried.  Then I popped a shell and a starfish on it!

The sentiment, from Better Together, is stamped in Marina Mist, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Then I didn’t like the color, so I went over it with my Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker.  I SNAILd the whole thing to a Bermuda Bay mat and the card front was done! 🙂

better-together-seaside-shore-1-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I again used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the pretty sentiment from Thoughts & Prayers in Bermuda Bay to a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I added some Seaside Shore shells and starfish in Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist.

better-together-seaside-shore-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Bermuda Bay mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, SNAILd the card front on, and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Seaside Shore shells and starfish on the front…

better-together-seaside-shore-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and some Crumb Cake grasses from the Wetlands set on the flap.

better-together-seaside-shore-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I am ridiculously pleased with the shell-encrusted Cross on the beach.  I think it turned out really well – and the woman who requested it was pleased as well.  So….bonus!  Hope you like! 🙂

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Happy Ornament Triptych for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  We had a sketch this week (that I took a little liberty with cuz I sorta didn’t look at it too closely when I was building my card!) – and I know there are going to be a lot of great projects for you to see this week, so….be sure to check out all the offerings of the Ladies-Who-Hop!

happy-stampers-blog-hop-sketch-10-nov-16
I kind of glanced at the sketch and saw the triple panel and then I totally missed 1) the banner at the bottom and 2) the landscaped-ness of the sketch.  I pulled out the Happy Ornament a la carte stamp and some Presents & Pinecones DSP and just went on my Merry way.

Merry.  Get it?

Christmas ornament?? Mary??

Never mind.

Here’s what I came up with – take a look-see:

happy-ornament-tryptych-4-stamps-n-lingersThis one was really quick and easy – I thought you might need one like that after the more complicated and many-step-many product card from yesterday!

To begin, I SNAILd a piece of Presents & Pinecones DSP to a Garden Green mat.  In retrospect, I might should have gone with Emerald Envy – but I didn’t, so I used Garden Green all the way thru like it was my job! 🙂

The art work is simply the Happy Ornament image heat embossed in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Then I sliced it into 3 equal sized panels.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them to a Whisper White panel and then SNAILd that to a Cherry Cobbler Mat.

happy-ornament-tryptych-2-stamps-n-lingers
I popped that panel onto my card front with Stampn’ Dimensionals.  The bow is a piece of Thick Whisper White Baker’s Twine and a piece of Garden Green Baker’s Twine, adhered to the card with some Liquid Glue.  Finally, I added three Garden Green Enamel Shapes.  We learned about the “Rule of Three” at the WCMD last week, so I was trying it out!

And that was it for the card front!

happy-ornament-tryptych-3-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I began with a piece of Whisper White matted on Cherry Cobbler.  Then I SNAILd a strip of Presents & Pinecones DSP to a Cherry Cobbler Mat and onto the Whisper White panel.

happy-ornament-tryptych-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it all into a Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I pulled out the Santa’s Sleigh stamp set and stamped a couple of Garden Green presents and Cherry Cobbler bows on the front…

happy-ornament-tryptych-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and added more Presents & Pinecones DSP to the envelope flap!

happy-ornament-tryptych-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  So quick – so easy – so fun!  I love that even broken into three pieces, your brain just automatically adjusts and is able to read the entire sentiment!  And this has to be one of the coolest stamps we’ve got!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Basket of Wishes, Paisleys and Butterflies

Before I get going, I was thrilled to learn the other day that my card from Sunday was a winner at the Stamps Ink Paper challenge!  I’m very grateful to the good folks over there for selecting my card – there were a lot of really great entries, so this is a real honor!  If you want to see this card, check it out right here.  And here’s a link to the blogpost where they announced the winners – do take a minute to check them all out! 🙂

Happy Hawmmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well and that the results of yesterday’s election didn’t send you into a deep funk!  If it did – pull out your card making supplies and make something pretty.  It’s a sure-fire way to distract your mind!

Finn doesn’t give a rat’s patootty about the election.  Just isn’t important to him.  What he cares about these days is…chipmunks.  He thinks they’re self-propelled furry toys placed on the planet for his amusement.  I am sad to report that he actually caught one the other day.  The encounter didn’t go well for the chippy.  Which makes me sad.  Cuz I like the little buggers.  But….he’s a dog.  High on the food chain.  Predator.  Chippy’s are….prey.

So – I can’t really be mad at him.  A bit disappointed?  Yes.  In my eyes, he was just a happy little curly-haired soul bouncing thru life.  What a shock to discover that there’s still “dog” under all that cuteness! 🙂

On the other hand, we’ve had a couple of good close-encounters with the cats.  He’s stood in front of them (on the leash!) while they’re laying on their bed and they didn’t run.  And he didn’t bounce!  So everyone was happy.  I think his encounter with the “beast-cat” at his playdate helped him a lot!

Okay – on to the card for today!  I went completely and totally away from Christmas for this one.  And I pulled out some older stamp sets and thinlits, combining them with a sentiment from the Basket of Wishes stamp set and one from Paisleys & Posies.  Take a look-see:

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-4-stamps-n-lingers

My design was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch for this week:

mm-473-sketch

And the colors and theme are from the latest Stamp Ink Paper challenge.

sip-73-sketch
Okay – this one wasn’t difficult, but there are a few steps, so bear with me.

Please don’t bare with me.  That just ain’t fittin’! 😉

To begin, I used a piece of Marina Mist card stock and stamped a sentiment from Basket of Wishes (“Thinking of You”) in Marina Mist ink all over the panel, then I matted it on a piece of Soft Sky card stock.  Then I cut a piece of Vellum card stock the same size as the card front and embossed it in the Fluttering TIEF.  To tone it down a bit, I sponged the Vellum with Marina Mist ink.

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-2-stamps-n-lingers
My main sentiment, also from Basket of Wishes, is stamped in Wisteria Wonder on Whisper White, cut with an oval die from the Ovals Layering Framelits, and matted on a scalloped edge oval in Soft Sky.

The art work consists of a couple of images from the Butterfly Basics stamp set.  I stamped the flower in Basic Gray Archival Ink on a Whisper White square.  Then I colored it with my Aqua Pen.

Now – this past weekend at OnStage, I learned something that y’all may already know, but I didn’t.  Put 70% Rubbing Alcohol in your Aqua Painter!  It’s a tad thicker than water, and it really does a great job coloring – much smoother and easier to blend than water.  So that’s what I did!

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-3-stamps-n-lingers
I colored the flower with Pink Pirouette (picking the ink up from the lid of the ink pad) and shaded it with Blushing Bride.  Then I used Mint Macaron for the stem.  I inked up the honeycomb image from Butterfly Basics in Marina Mist and stamped it off once before stamping it all around the flower.  Finally, I matted the square on a scalloped-edge Soft Sky mat.

Another demonstration we saw at the WCMD event this weekend was one on Textures and Layering.  I was really impressed by Kimberly Van Diepen’s presentation, so I tried to incorporate some elements she showed us.  I tore a piece of a Delicate White Doily and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the back of my square.

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-1-stamps-n-lingers
Then I used a Glue Dot to adhere a few loops of Silver Metallic Thread to the back of the square.

At this point, I dry fit the oval and the square.  Then I adhered the Vellum panel I made earlier to the card front, using Liquid Glue under the spots where I planned to put my other elements.

Next, I used some Silver 5/8″ Satin Ribbon and some Pool Party 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon and adhered them across the card front for the horizontal element of the sketch.  Finally, I adhered the art square over all that with Liquid Glue.

Still with me?? 🙂

My butterflies come from two spots.  I punched two Marina Mist little guys from Subtles Designer Series Paper with the Bitty Butterfly punch.  The large butterfly was stamped with Watercolor Wings, using Marina Mist and Wisteria Wonder ink – this is a 3-step stamp.  Then I cut it with the matching die from Bold Butterfly Framelits – and I also cut a second butterfly in Silver Foil.  I adhered the two layers together with Liquid Glue and then adhered it and the two Bitty Butterflies to the card.  Then I gave them all some Pearl Basic Jewel bodies.

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-8-stamps-n-lingers
I adhered the sentiment oval with Liquid Glue, then added a couple of leaves – cut with the little dies in Swirly Scribbles from Silver Foil, and a Petite Petals flower punched from Mint Macaron Designer Series Paper and embellished with a Soft Sky heart Enamel Shape.

And that was it for the card front!

Whew! 🙂

On the inside, I added a sentiment from Paisleys & Posies in Wisteria Wonder on a Whisper White panel.  Then I added some stamped-off-once Marina Mist butterflies from Butterfly Basics.

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to a Soft Sky mat and into a Marina Mist card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

The front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope got more stamped-off-once Marina Mist Butterfly Basics butterflies…

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and an envelope flap with more of the Marina Mist Designer Series Paper.

basket-of-wishes-paisleys-and-butterflies-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  Nothing difficult or confusing – just of a lot of steps.  But, sometimes, it just takes some extra effort (and a bunch of tools!!) to get a card how you want it, right?  Hope you like – and think it was worth the time! 🙂

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Delicate Pine Embellished Ornaments for the Elegant Christmas Blog Hop

14650280_10211248288311309_13199545180675587_n
Good morning, y’all!  Welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop – this week’s theme is Elegant Christmas.  Amy left that wide-open for us to interpret any way we like.  So all the projects should be gorgeous – please do check out all the ladies’ blogs when you get done here!

And – send Happy Birthday thoughts to my mom today!  Happy Birthday, Mom! 🙂

For me, anything for and at Christmas is better with pine boughs.  I love going to Costco and garden centers at Christmas just to smell the pine.  I even bought those Glade air freshener thingys that are pine scented – and plugged them in in my hotel room when I was away in Arizona at the beginning of the year.  So when I walked into my room in the evening…I was met with “Christmas”! 🙂

So when I saw “Elegant Christmas”, I knew I was going to have pine boughs.  And Elegant sort of immediately made me think of the Annual Catalog  set – Embellished Ornaments and the Delicate Ornament Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

delicate-pine-embellished-ornament-4-stamps-n-lingers
I started with a panel of Whisper White card stock which I ran thru the Pine Bough TIEF – twice.  I moved the panel in the TIEF so that I’d have pretty pine boughs all over the card front.  Then I SNAILd it to a Copper Foil mat.

The ornament is two pieces, both cut with the Delicate Ornament Thinlits.  The backer is cut with the solid ornament die from Copper Foil.  The more intricate top piece is cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere them together.  I also cut a Copper Foil ornament top and the small center piece.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere them – and I left it to dry while I made dinner.  Cuz of how difficult it can be to adhere to Glimmer Paper!  When I got back to it, I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels to the center.

delicate-pine-embellished-ornament-2-stamps-n-lingers

I cut a few Garden Green boughs using the Pretty Pines Thinlits and uses a Sponge Dauber to brush them lightly with Whisper White Kraft Ink.  I also added some “snow” with a white Gel Pen.

I adhered the longer pine bough to the card front with Liquid Glue, then popped the ornament over that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added the last two pine boughs with Liquid Glue.  Using Glue Dots, I added two Mini Pinecones, and a bow tied with three pieces of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine.

delicate-pine-embellished-ornament-8-stamps-n-lingers
My sentiment is three die cuts from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits – I cut two in Cherry Cobbler and one in Garden Green and built it up with Liquid Glue, then added it to the card front.  And the card front was done! 🙂

delicate-pine-embellished-ornament-3-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the sentiment from Embellished Ornaments in Cherry Cobbler to a Whisper White panel.  Then I dry embossed the panel in the Pine Bough TIEF – twice.  Using a Sponge Dauber, I brushed the boughs with Garden Green ink.

delicate-pine-embellished-ornament-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Copper Foil mat and then into my Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I inked the ornament from Embellished Ornaments in Versamark and stamped it on the envelope front, then heat embossed it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder…

delicate-pine-embellished-ornament-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and then I embossed the envelope flap in the Pine Bough TIEF and brushed it with Garden Green ink.

delicate-pine-embellished-ornament-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  Elegant Christmas.  On a card!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Hello December 2016 Card Making Project

Good morning!  It’s back to reality for us today – where “reality” means “work”!  World Card Making Day and OnStage Local were so much fun – it was easy to lose track of the real world!  We, the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators from Amy’s Inkin’ Krew, had the bestest time ever!

krew-under-the-balloon

Now – this is my first post of the day.  And it’s going to be quick!  Cuz….later today, I’ll be posting some pictures from OnStage.  Where “OnStage” means “sneak peeks of the 2017 Occasions Catalog.  Won’t be a lot of chatting.  Just a lot of pictures – so…be sure to come back, okay?

In this post, I want to remind you of my Double Peppermint Rewards special – this is the very last day!  So, read on down for the details, but here’s the Bottom Line:  when your order reaches $50 before shipping and tax, you’ll earn DOUBLE peppermints.  So….$50 gets four, $75 gets six, $100 gets eight…you get the drift.  And 16 peppermints total gets YOU a free $40 gift from me and I’ll ship it directly to you…for free!

Second – a couple of pictures of how Finn spent his playdate – I know you’ve missed him the past couple of days.

Hanging with his friends….

finn-chillin-with-the-friends
Resting with “Uncle” Luke (who has the patience of Job.  And Mother Teresa.)….

luke-and-finn
And “smiling” ever-so-cutely for the camera!  Seriously – look at those little lips!

finn-smiling
And playing and playing and playing!  He was glad to see us, but…he really had a great time with his newfound friends!

The last thing to share in this post is a few pictures of what we made at the World Card Making Day event on Friday.  These cute little tags and notecards used the Project Life Hello December 2016 Accessory Pack.  Check it out right here in my Online Store.

This project was a bit of a revelation for me – I’d not really considered the things besides memory keeping that could be done with the Accessory Packs from Project Life.

hello-december-2016-projects-stamps-n-lingers
These little tags are made with Whisper White and Crumb Cake Notecards and Envelopes.  Cut the cards in half the long way and round the corners with the Project Life Corner Rounder.  Then we cut tiny “mats”….

hello-december-2016-projects-4-stamps-n-lingers
…and “strips” – using the matching envelopes (that we didn’t need to be “envelopes” cuz…waaaay too big!)…

hello-december-2016-projects-3-stamps-n-lingers
…and added goodies from the Accessory Pack!

hello-december-2016-projects-5-stamps-n-lingers

hello-december-2016-projects-6-stamps-n-lingers
The pack even includes a teensy-weensy-tiny-little-bitty stamp set!

hello-december-2016-projects-7-stamps-n-lingers
But – we used the wonderful Tin of Tags stamp set for these tags!  With Real Red ink.

We also made a few full sized note cards.

hello-december-2016-projects-2-stamps-n-lingers
This is far from all of the notecards and tags we made – and we’ve still got goodies leftover from the Accessory Pack!

If you haven’t tried using Project Life Accessory Packs to make cards…give it a go!  They’ll definitely be on my list from here on out!

So – get in today on the Double Peppermint points – the time to hesitate is past, it’s time to shop! Maybe for some Stitched Shapes framelits and a few coordinating (and 25% off!) stamp sets?!? 🙂

And look for a second post this afternoon sneak peeking the 2017 Occasions Catalog.

Until then….

TTFN

Mary

Stampin’ Up! Merry Medley Holly Jolly Layers

Hey y’all!  Well – it’s over.  We’ve seen the new 2017 Occasions Catalog.  We’ve perused the 2017 Sale-A-Bration Flyer.  We laughed and whoo-hoo’d.

Yes.  Even me.

I’ve pre-ordered some goodies – so I’ll have them to begin sharing projects with you soon!

Tomorrow afternoon – around 3pm Eastern time, I’ll be able to share pictures of the projects displayed at OnStage.  All made with the fun new products we’ll see in January!

You’re gonna like ’em – I promise!  There’s a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for everyone!   And of course – everyone loves Sale-a-bration!

Y’all know about the wonderful background stamp called Merry Medley, right?  So, one of the fun ideas we saw on Friday at the WCMD event was from Pam Morris.  She had taken her Merry Medley stamp and cut it apart into several – maybe….8?  9? – separate stamp sets.  Look at the projects she made for us!

merry-medley-projects-from-wcmd-2016
Fun, right?  Now – full disclosure – I wouldn’t do this with my only copy of this stamp.  I like it way too much as a background stamp.  But – if it continues into the Annual Catalog (fingers crossed!) – you can bet I’ll be ordering a second one and cutting it right up! 🙂

But for now….I used Merry Medley in it’s “whole” form and the host-exclusive set Holly Jolly Layers, paired with some Candy Cane Lane DSP to create a fun card.  Take a look-see:

merry-medley-holly-jolly-layers-4-stamps-n-lingers
The design for this card comes from this Stamp Ink Paper challenge:

sip-72-sketch
I started by simply SNAILing a piece of Crumb Cake paper from the Candy Cane Lane DSP onto a Real Red card stock mat (yes, Real Red – Crumb Cake – White.  Again.  Cuz it’s good!!)

Then I pulled out Merry Medley and inked it up with Real Red ink. Then I laid a strip of Crumb Cake card stock onto the stamp.  With these large background stamps it’s often easier to lay the stamp rubber-side-up on your work surface, ink it up, and lay your card stock on top.  Then press/rub all over to transfer the image to the card stock.  With the image on the card stock, I SNAILd it to a Real Red mat and then to the card front.

merry-medley-holly-jolly-layers-2-stamps-n-lingers
Then I added a piece of Real Red Stitched Edge Ribbon, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

The sentiment, from Holly Jolly Layers – is stamped in Versamark on a piece of Crumb Cake CS, sprinkled with Real Red Glitter Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and heat embossed.  When it was completely cool, I cut it with a scalloped square from the Squares Layering Framelits.  I matted it on a larger scallop edge square and popped it over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card front was done.

merry-medley-holly-jolly-layers-8-stamps-n-lingers
I love this Glitter Embossing Powder – it comes in Emerald Envy, too! – it’s fine enough to use with a relatively detailed stamp and it works just like “regular” stampin’ emboss powder!

On the inside, I inked the little candy cane from Holly Jolly Layers in Versamark, stamped it in the corner of a Whisper White panel, and heat embossed it with more of the Real Red Glitter Stampin’ Emboss powder.

merry-medley-holly-jolly-layers-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to a Real Red mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

For my Medium Whisper White Envelope, I added another Holly Jolly Layers candy cane to the front – again with the Glitter Stampin’ Emboss Powder…

merry-medley-holly-jolly-layers-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and added some more of the Candy Cane Lane DSP to the envelope flap.

merry-medley-holly-jolly-layers-7-stamps-n-lingers

Et Voila!  Real Red and Crumb Cake come thru again – this time with a little sparkle! – and the Merry Medley stamp set instantly adds Christmas-y impact.  Hope you like!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this one for yourself!

Stampin’ Up! Totally Trees One Big Meaning Thanks!

Good morning – it’s Saturday and OnStage Local 2016 is finally here!  I hope you’re having a great day – I’m pretty sure I will be!  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone and getting a look at what’s coming up in the 2017 Occasions Catalog! 🙂

World Card Making Day was – as is always the case with Brian and Pam – a really fun day!  We saw lots of demonstrations of techniques and the “building blocks” of a card.  I learned some fun new ideas that I’m looking forward to sharing with y’all!

We all got cute little table favors….

table-favors-wcmd-2016
The little box on the left had some peppermints and a little wooden stamp from the I Stamped This stamp set!  And on the right….well.  A chocolate chip cookie! 🙂

They’d set up a fun “selfie” station – with a frame with a big red bow on it.  Of course, if you’re holding up the frame it’s pretty hard to take a selfie.  We had to get someone to take the picture for us – which I think makes it a “youie” station! 🙂

amys-inkin-krew-wcmd-2016

That’s me with Beth Hooper, Amy Koenders, Kelly Cannon and Jari Francis!  Amy’s Inkin’ Krew had a good showing at WCMD 2016 – and will be even better at today’s OnStage event! 🙂

More pictures will follow in the next couple of days, but for now, let me show you the card I made for today!  It uses one of my favorite stamp sets from the Holiday Catalog – Totally Trees – and the great One Big Meaning stamp set from the annual catalog.  Take a look-see:

totally-trees-one-big-meaning-4-stamps-n-lingers
I played along with three challenges with this card.  The first, for the layout, is from Freshly Made Sketches.

fms-261-sketch
My color palette came from the Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge.

hss-color-challenge-250

And, finally, I played with the What Will You Stamp challenge…

wwys-88-sketch
I started with a piece of Fancy Frost Specialty DSP for the card front, matting it onto a Dapper Denim card stock mat.  Next came a strip of Mint Macaron paper from the Presents & Pinecones DSP, also matted on Dapper Denim and SNAILd to the card front.

I added a length of Emerald Envy 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon over the DSP strip, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

totally-trees-one-big-meaning-3-stamps-n-lingers
My sentiment panel is a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped the sentiment from the One Big Meaning stamp set in Dapper Denim.  I created a sticky note mask, stamping the sentiment on the sticky note and then cutting it out.  I placed the mask over the sentiment and got down to the trees.

I stamped two of the tree images from Totally Trees in Emerald Envy and added the solid “leaves” shape in Mint Macaron.  Then I removed the sticky note mask.

I added three Emerald Envy Enamel Shapes in the bottom corner.  For the mat, I used another piece of Dapper Denim card stock, offsetting it as suggested in the sketch challenge.

totally-trees-one-big-meaning-2-stamps-n-lingers
I popped the whole sentiment panel over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added another Totally Trees image in the corner of a Whisper White panel in Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron.

I SNAILd the panel to a Dapper Denim mat and then into my Emerald Envy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done! 🙂

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Totally Trees tree on the front….

totally-trees-one-big-meaning-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and a final tree on the back of the envelope, plus some more Presents & Pinecones DSP on the envelope flap.

Here’s where I’d have put a picture of the back of the envelope.

If I’d taken one.

I have no idea why I didn’t.  And I’m not at home to remedy my faux pas.

So….close your eyes and simply image the serene beauty of the Mint Macaron DSP gracing the flap of my envelope. 🙂

Et Voila!  I just love Totally Trees – the options for arboreal beauty are many with this great set!  And it paired beautifully with the Fancy Frost Specialty DSP.  They created a card with not a “Christmas-y” feeling anywhere to be found!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Star of Light Votive Easel

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Friday and when you read this I’ll be on my way or at the World Card Making Day event hosted by Brian King and Pam Morris!  With any luck, Kelly and I will have had a smooth trip up to Atlanta and we’ll be gettin’ crafty! 🙂

So – I do have a picture of Finn for you today.  Well, I actually have two.  After today, there won’t be any for a day or two until I can get back home to take them!  Fair warning….you’ll be stuck with just me and a card!

This morning (Thursday morning, that is), after our usual run, we adjourned to the chairs on the porch of the barn.  I to my e-mail and Finn to his….sand squirting.  That’s what I call his time in the sandy spot at the end of the barn.  He twirls and crouches and jumps and…well, squirts like he’s been shot from a water pistol!  I took a video but I have yet to figure out how to post a video here.  The funniest part of the video is the end, where he “squirts” right to me at about a hundred miles per hour and leapt (never even tapped the brake or thought it through!) slam into my lap.  And slam is right.  He’s a chunk!  So he then sat there for about 5 minutes.  And then got down and into the next-door chair for a micro-snooze.  Just a-sittin’ on the porch with his mom! While she tried to recover the breath that he knocked out of her! 🙂

finn-in-the-lounger
Here’s the second pic – I don’t think it needs any ‘splainin’…

finn-with-ball-and-stick
Play hard and carry your ball and a big stick!  And if the stick is almost too big for you to carry?  All the better! 🙂

So, on to card making stuff, since that’s really why you come by.  Today I made a second 3-d project to take to the swap.  This is another easel card, meant for a little battery-operated votive.  I used the Star of Light stamp set and the Starlight Thinlits die set.  And couched it in Wisteria Wonder and Silver.  Take a look-see:

star-of-light-votive-easel-10-stamps-n-lingers

I used the same dimensions and card cut sizes that I used for my Detailed Greetings From Santa votive easel I did a couple weeks back.  You can check that one out here, if you like!

I started with a piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock, cut to 4 1/2″ x 12″ and I scored and folded it at 4 1/4″ and 8 1/2″.  To add a little texture to the front, I ran what would be the front panel thru the Big Shot in the Woodland TIEF.  I considered adding some highlights with a white gel pen, but decided against it.

I pulled out the pretty detailed star die from the Starlight Thinlits set and cut the star from the middle of the front panel.  I also cut one from a piece of Silver Foil while I was at it.

star-of-light-votive-easel-8-stamps-n-lingers
I cut a second piece of Wisteria Wonder to 4 1/2″ x 4 1/2″.  I ran that piece thru the Big Shot to cut the large “open” star image from the Starlight Thinlits.  I used the already-cut front panel to make sure that everything would line up.  The point of this piece is to tidy up the back of the front panel, so it all looks pretty when you open up the card!

star-of-light-votive-easel-2-stamps-n-lingers
I used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere a piece of Vellum card stock behind the star on the front panel.  Then I added the second, smaller Wisteria Wonder panel over the top of the Vellum, using more Liquid Glue.

Finally, I took the Silver Foil die cut and used eensy-weensy little tiny droplets of glue from my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to adhere it into the opening on the card front.  To help the glue adhere, I laid my largest acrylic block over the panel and weighted it down a bit.  And worked on my sentiment.

Do y’all know where the sentiment “shine” came from?

Any guesses?

Take a minute to look thru the catalog…thumb thru your thinlits and framelits….

Figure it out?

Yep – the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits!  I cut the word “Sunshine” out and then carefully snipped off “Sun” and trimmed up the little tail on the first “s” to make it look like it was meant to be that way!

star-of-light-votive-easel-11-stamps-n-lingers
I adhered that to the front panel with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue and it was time to move inside!

For the smaller, end panel, I stamped two sentiments from the Star of Light stamp set in Wisteria Wonder on a Whisper White panel, making sure the smaller one was down far enough that it would show when the easel is open.

Then I used the swirly-stars image and inked it in Smoky Slate, then stamped-it-off-once before stamping it on the panel.  I did that a couple of times, then SNAILd the panel to a Silver Foil mat and onto the card base.

The middle panel got another of the Star of Light sentiments in Wisteria Wonder and more swirly stamped-off-once Smoky Slate stars.  It’s also matted on Silver.

star-of-light-votive-easel-1-stamps-n-lingers
The final piece of the card was to add the easel “stops”.  For this one, I used Silver Metallic Enamel stars – I stacked two stars up on each side to ensure it would “catch” the easel.  I added some more stars, too.  Cuz I like ’em! 🙂

star-of-light-votive-easel-12-stamps-n-lingers
I added some Star of Light swirly’s and Silver stars to the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope (I decided to use this size envelope versus making a square envelope)…

star-of-light-votive-easel-5-stamps-n-lingers
…and another swirly to the envelope flap.

star-of-light-votive-easel-9-stamps-n-lingers
And all that was left to do was dim the lights, turn on the little votive and enjoy the show!

star-of-light-votive-easel-3-stamps-n-lingersstar-of-light-votive-easel-4-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  These little easel cards are so easy to make, and adding a glow-y feature to the front is just another couple of steps!  I think this Star of Light bundle really lends itself well to this kind of card, don’t you?  Hope you like – and will give it a shot!  And hope whoever gets this tomorrow – yes, it’s going! – will enjoy it thru the Christmas season!
