Stampin’ Up! Lovely Words Better Together!

Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all!  Gotta love these 4 day work weeks, huh?  We just started – but we’re halfway thru!  Whoo-hoo!

But we’re closer than ever to a Pretty Big Deal.  Tomorrow is….new Catalog Launch Day!!  Whoo-hoo!!  Speaking of which….here’s some things to know about tomorrow.

  • Sales for the 2017-2018 annual catalog begin at noon (Mountain Time)
  • The Online Store will be unavailable from midnight (MT) tonight until noon (MT) tomorrow while Stampin’ Up! transitions their systems to the new catalog.  Ordering will be restored no later than noon (MT).

So…what does that mean?  It means that if you’re one of those people who drink extra coffee at night to stay awake late to get in on the first few minutes of the launch or do the higher level math to determine what time mountain time is where you live and then set your alarm to get up early….well, don’t!  There’s no point!  You’ll be up late or early for no actual Stampin’ Up! reason!  Sleep!  Rest your buying fingers!!  Be fresh and ready to go when the store comes back online at noon Mountain Time!!

Okay – with that out of the way, let’s talk cards!  I made a card today using the new Lovely Words Thinlits (avail tomorrow!!), a little Better Together (avail now) and a few other little pieces and parts.  The end result is a card that would work for….a Silver Wedding anniversary?  Bridal Shower? Wedding?  Confirmation?  Take a look-see:

This card played along with two challenges.  The first, from Fab Friday, inspired the layout.

And the second gave me the color palette.  Just Us Girls had a photo challenge this week.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock for the mat.  Using the lace strip image from the Timeless Textures stamp set, I stamped that image all the way around the edge of the panel in Versamark Ink and then heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  It’s really hard (okay – possibly impossible!) to see in the pictures.  Maybe if you squint…

Maybe not…

The card front itself is another piece of Whisper White card stock that I dry embossed in the Holly TIEF.

For my art, I cut a strip of Silver Foil and made banner ends with my Banner Triple Punch, then embossed it in the new Sparkle TIEF.  I adhered that to the card front with Liquid Glue.

The next strip – I made with my Diagonal Stripe background stamp.  I stamped the image in Versamark on Whisper White, sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Then I cut a strip and adhered that over the first strip with Liquid Glue.

I used the Hugs die in the Lovely Words Thinlits to cut my sentiment from some Silver Foil.  Since that die leaves a negative image in the paper, I used a smooth-edged Circles Layering Framelit to cut it out.  Then I adhered it to a scallop-edge circle of Whisper White with some Liquid Glue.

Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I aligned and stamped the sentiment from Lovely Inside & Out (the coordinating stamp set to Lovely Words – which will be available in a money-saving bundle in the new catalog!) in Smoky Slate Ink.  Then I popped the whole thing on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The last piece of the card front is a little Whisper White heart.  I first heat embossed that lace image from Timeless Textures  – with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder – on a Whisper White scrap.  Then I cut it out with the smallest heart in the Sweet & Sassy Framelits.  I adhered it with a Stampin’ Dimensional and some Liquid Glue!

On the inside, I made another Timeless Textures heat embossed mat – just like for the front.  Then I SNAILd a second Whisper White panel to that.  I used a sentiment from Better Together and stamped it in Smoky Slate ink, once again using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Then I cut two more embossed hearts and adhered them with Liquid Glue.

I SNAILd the panel into a Thick Whisper White card base.  On the front, I first SNAIld my heat-embossed mat to the card base, then popped the card front over that with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Timeless Textures lace image heat embossed in white down the right side of the envelope…

…and then I heat embossed a sentiment from Lovely Inside & Out in Silver on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I promise – making this card is a lot easier than taking its picture!  Sheesh – I’m so sorry, you guys!  It looks so pretty and elegant in person and I’m pretty bummed it doesn’t show up so well in the pictures.  But – in the end, the idea is to make a card that looks good in person, right??   Anyway – I hope you like what you can see of it – the Lovely Inside & Out bundle is a lot of fun – the thinlits are too cool!

Be sure to scroll on down and check out the ordering special that starts tomorrow from Stampin’ Up!, okay?  And there’s still time to get my In Color Bundles and the Eastern Palace bundles!  Those all go away tonight!

There’s a lot of info between here and the FFF, so be sure to check it all out – I don’t want you to miss a great deal, okay??  Finn’ll still be there when you get there!  😉

Finn-Fan Fix…

I guess I’ve told you that we’re testing for our Canine Good Citizen certificate this weekend?

So – we’re practicing (even though his MO is to do really well at home and then get a little slack in class…)

I try to take every opportunity to reinforce that he has to “do the stuff” even when there’s other – much better, much more fun, way more exciting! – things to do than heel and sit and stay.

What’s so significant about this picture?

No – it’s not that my tennis shoe is obviously moments away from falling completely apart.

Although it is. 😉

Nope – it’s the fact that he’s off-leash, in a near-perfect sit, almost exactly where he’s supposed to be.  And he came there on one “Here” command.

Aaaaaannnnddd – Wayne is out of the frame, dumping Bo’s feed in his tub in the pasture.  About a 2 second Aussie sprint from where we’re standing!

And we know Finn loves….his dad.  Bo.  And HORSE FOOOOOOOOOOOD!!

So a huge enticement to leave.  But he didn’t!

I think we might pass on Sunday! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Better Together With Sunshine Wishes

Mornin’, y’all!  Hope your week is going well!

Before we get to the card – let me remind you of the Ordering Special I’ve got going on right now.  I’ve put some info down below – bottom line:  you’ve got until Monday, 8 May to cash in by ordering the Premier Eastern Palace Bundle thru my Online Store!

So my card for today is another sympathy card – this time for a friend of my friends’ parents.  He recently lost his Jack Russel Terrier.  I don’t know much about the gentleman, but I suspect he lived alone with his dog in the retirement community.  So – doubly sad.  And it meant I needed a card masculine enough to suit a man, but sentimental enough to suit the occasion.

Now – I don’t have a stamp for every breed of dog, so I can’t completely personalize a card.  But, I pulled out the sleeping dog in the Sitting Here stamp set, combined it with a little bit of Sunshine Wishes die cuts and new Wood Textures DSP.  The Better Together stamp set lent the sentiments.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of the Wood Textures DSP Stack paper and, using the sleeping dog image in the Sitting Here stamp set, I stamped the dog all over the panel in Soft Suede ink that I stamped off once on scrap paper before I stamped the panel.

One might say it was…ghosted.

Bad form, Mary.  Bad form.

Then I inked up the sentiment from Better Together with Versamark Ink and, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position it, stamped it in the bottom corner.  I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.

I used the heart die in the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set to cut a heart from a piece of white-washed DSP in the Wood Textures stack and one from Copper Foil.

Next I made my embellishment from a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and one of new 1/4″ Copper Trim (avail 1 June).  I folded both pieces over once, layered the Copper Trim on the Burlap and stapled them together with my Handheld Stapler.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the ribbons to the panel.

I used more Liquid Glue to adhere my two Sunshine Wishes hearts to the panel over the ribbon.  Finally, I made a small bow from the 1/4″ Copper Trim and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  I SNAILd the panel to a Copper Foil mat and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used a piece of the whitewashed paper in the Wood Textures Stack as my inner liner, stamping a second sentiment from Better Together in Soft Suede in the middle.  Down in the corner, I stamped my Sitting Here dog in Chocolate Chip, covered him with a sticky note mask that I’d carefully stored in my stamp case for just such an occasion, and stamped his dog bed over top with Soft Suede.  I used my Sahara Sand and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers to color the bed, and added some JRT-like spots on the dog with my Soft Suede Marker.

I SNAILd the panel to my Copper Foil Mat and into my….no.  Wait.  What I did next was use my Heat Tool to loosen up the SNAIL so I could pull the panel off the mat.  Cuz….I’d made a portrait inner liner for my landscape card. 👀

I pulled it off, re-did the inner liner (the right way this time!), SNAILd it to it’s Copper Foil mat and into a Tranquil Tide card base (avail right now in the Eastern Palace Premier Bundle!!).  Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got my Sitting Here JRT-like dog on the front…

…and I added a bit more of the whitewash Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think – hope! – this will fill the bill.  I discovered that a card to express sympathy for the loss of pet – for a MAN – is a lot harder than I expected.  Hope he likes it – and I hope you like it, too!

Finn-Fan Fix…

I’m pretty sure he’s checking that Bo’s stall is latched.

Or he’s asking him “Why the long face?”

Either is equally plausible. 😏

Stampin’ Up! Best Birds and Better Together Sympathy Card

Mornin’, y’all!  Happy Friday!  Although it wasn’t a 4-day work week for me, it sort of felt like it – Monday was a government holiday and all the government folks had it off – so it was quiet!!

Before we get going – I wanted to say a little something about the videos I’ve promised – just to manage expectations a bit.  So…I am going to be doing them, but…it’s going to be a little bit before you see the first one.  Mostly cuz I’m going to be out of town for most of next week!  I promise I’m going to do them – I’ll try to commit to doing my first one the week after next.

But, you guys have to promise me something!  Promise you’ll cut me a little slack for a few videos, okay?  I know it’s going to take me a minute to get comfy doing them, so if I sound like a total dork on the first….let’s call it 5 videos..no make it 10! …just smile to yourself and shake your head.

Okay – so for today, I needed a sympathy card to send to Igor, my Russian son.  His Russian grandmother passed away last week. 🙁  So I needed a sympathy card.  I got a little inspiration from a couple of challenges, so I pulled out my Best Birds bundle and the Better Together sentiment stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Wild About Flowers Aussie Sympathy Card

Good day-after-SB LI, y’all!  I’m suspecting if you watched the whole game – you’re a bit on the sleepy side this morning!  As I type this, we’re smack in the second quarter and Atlanta has just posted the second score of the game!  Atlanta came to play, folks!  But Tom’s no slouch – looks like it’s going to be a good one! (Monday morning addendum….Oh My Goodness!  What a game!  What a crushing defeat for Atlanta.  You have to feel bad for the Falcons – it was a heartbreaker, for sure.  But – say what you will about Tom Brady.  He is just one helluva quarterback.  And the Patriots showed real heart, didn’t they?  To come back after such a deficit – a record breaking effort.  They earned this one, for sure!  I have to say – it was one of the best SBs I’ve ever watched! Wow. 🙂 )

I don’t have any stories about Finn today – well, I do, but I’m going to save them for another day.  I got a little bit of sad news on Sunday morning – a friend of Finn’s – from where he was born – has died.  His name was Cody and he was only 10 years old.  Not related to Finn, but certainly his friend for the first 5 months of his little life.  And he’s the reason they got into Aussies in the first place so…he’s kinda the reason that Finn….is!!

cody
So I made a sympathy card for Cody’s parents.  I used the pretty flowers in the Wild About Flowers set and some sentiments from the Flourishing Phrases and the Better Together stamp sets.  And – cuz my mom sent it to me last year when we brought Finn home – I was able to add a little non-SU! Aussie image.   Until you get to the inside, where the dog image resides, this card would be perfect for any Sympathy Card need.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Better Together Seaside Shore Sympathy Card

Good morning, y’all – it’s Friday and it’s Veteran’s Day!  For many it’s a day off – please take a moment to reflect on the reason for the Holiday!  And if you see one – thank a Vet for the freedoms you enjoy today!  I saw a great sign on Facebook – it read “The flag does not fly because the wind blows it, it flies with the last breath of each Soldier who died protecting it.”  Very true – but add Sailor, Airman, and Marine!  Thank you one and all! 🙂

Finn’s had a busy couple of days – and learned a lesson or two.  Not all of them fun – but all of them necessary.  The other night (Wednesday now), he got a little closer to the ponies than he should have – and…got bonked.  Or stepped on.  We’re not entirely sure – I was leading Cerah and Wayne was pulling feed.  I know she didn’t kick him.  But he cried like he’d been shot.  Broke my heart. 🙁  He wasn’t hurt – just had a red spot by his nose.  He did, however, learn a lesson that every farm dog has to learn at some point – ya gotta watch out for the business end of the horses!  He was much less interested this morning in running in to try to grab a horse tail, I can tell you!

Still made me feel awful, even though I know it was the best kind of lesson.  Why was it a good lesson?  He didn’t get seriously injured and neither I nor Wayne had anything at all to do with it – it was all the pony and the dog.  So we didn’t “do” anything to him – he did it to himself.

Okay.  Yea.  Even knowing all that, I still feel bad. 🙁

On Thursday – he was over the trauma (other than his lack of interest in another close encounter!)….

finn-eating-5-12-months
A little breakfast (almost time for the stand to raise his bowl up, huh?), followed by a nap…

finn-sleeping-upside-down-5-12-months
…and then a trip in the golf cart!

finn-on-the-golf-cart-5-12-months
He’s not old enough to drive yet – not even in dog years!  I think he’d give it a shot, though, given the opportunity!

So, we made it thru the trauma of the “pony lesson” and recovered well.  All that’s left is a little pink area – just enough to make the mom feel bad every time she sees it. 😉

While he was recovering, I was making a special request Sympathy card.  No…not the Sitting Here stamp set this time.  This request was for a more religious card, with a Cross on it.  And with a seashore and shells theme.

So I pulled out the Seaside Shore, Better Together and the lovely Thoughts & Prayers stamp sets.  Added in a little Botanical Builder Framelits and Serene Scenery DSP and…take a look-see:

better-together-seaside-shore-4-stamps-n-lingers
I started with a piece of the ocean-y paper in Serene Scenery as my card front.  The Cross is a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, stamped in Crumb Cake ink using the Hardwood background stamp.  I cut two pieces – 3/8″ wide each – and sponged them all over with more Crumb Cake.  For the longer piece, I snipped the “bottom” on a slight diagonal – I was planning ahead (for once!) to make it look like the Cross was dug into the sand.  Then I sponged the edges with Early Espresso.  A quick burnish on the back with my stylus gave each piece some depth and then I adhered the pieces together with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

better-together-seaside-shore-2-stamps-n-lingers
Before I stuck the Cross onto the card front, I pulled out the grasses image from the Wetlands stamp set and stamped it once in Crumb Cake on the card front.  Then I laid the Cross down – the way I planned it to go (kind of leaning) – and stamped the grasses again – going over the Cross.  That made it look like the grasses were growing up around it.

I wrapped a length of Kraft Rope Trim around the Cross, adhering it lightly with Liquid Glue, and then popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

better-together-seaside-shore-3-stamps-n-lingers
I made a bunch of shells and starfish from the Seaside Shore stamp set.  I heat embossed shells in Copper and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Poweder. I stamped several in Bermuda Bay ink and then quickly sprinkled them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated them up.  I also made some starfish, stamping them in Marina Mist and then sprinkling them with Clear emboss powder and heating them.  Then I fussy cut them all.

I also employed the Botanical Builder Framelits, cutting some tiny flowers in Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette and Pool Party.  I added some Enamel Shapes – in Bermuda Bay, Marina Mist and Pool Party to the Very Vanilla flowers.

Once I had everything cut out, it was time to decorate the Cross!

better-together-seaside-shore-8-stamps-n-lingers
I used Liquid Glue and small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional and just added shells and flowers and starfish until it looked good!  At the bottom of the cross, I used my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to add some “wet sand” to help it look like the Cross is buried.  Then I popped a shell and a starfish on it!

The sentiment, from Better Together, is stamped in Marina Mist, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Then I didn’t like the color, so I went over it with my Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker.  I SNAILd the whole thing to a Bermuda Bay mat and the card front was done! 🙂

On the inside, I again used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the pretty sentiment from Thoughts & Prayers in Bermuda Bay to a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I added some Seaside Shore shells and starfish in Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist.

better-together-seaside-shore-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Bermuda Bay mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, SNAILd the card front on, and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Seaside Shore shells and starfish on the front…

…and some Crumb Cake grasses from the Wetlands set on the flap.

Et Voila!  I am ridiculously pleased with the shell-encrusted Cross on the beach.  I think it turned out really well – and the woman who requested it was pleased as well.  So….bonus!  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here Under a Sheltering Tree for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  We all played with a fun sketch – and I know there are going to be a lot of great projects for you to see this week, so….be sure to check out all the offerings of the Ladies-Who-Hop!

First off – here’s the sketch….

14034916_10210533686806718_1855166362000077661_n
And my card also plays along with the Global Design Project #59 – a Theme challenge.

gdp-059-theme
I actually did my card this week so early that I had to warn the other ladies – I was afraid the shock of getting my link early (heck – even just on time!) would send them into some sort of seizure or…something!  I did that cuz of this little trip to Hunstville, that I’m on even as I type my post.

The boys are at home doing…boy stuff…while I’m here.  I’d be lying if I said it was awful to be away for a minute.  To be sure, I love my husband and Finn and the cats and ponies.  But.  A short little trip away – short being the operative requirement! – is never amiss.  I arrived in decent time, am at a nice hotel, had my favored Vietnamese for dinner (will probably have it tomorrow night, too – yum!), I’m watching one of my fave movies (The Proposal, with hottie Ryan Reynolds and the ever gorgeous and funny Sandra Bullock.  And Betty White!) and typing a little something to my friends.  And I’ll be back home on Friday!  Yup.  What’s not to love?! 🙂

So – the card I got done so early is a Sympathy Card that I made for my friend to give to a lady with two dogs.  She asked for the Sitting Here bench, a yellow lab, and a scruffy little black and brown dog.  So…I pulled out Sitting Here, Sheltering Tree, Bella & Friends, and the Better Together stamp set for the sentiment.  Take a look-see:

sitting-here-under-a-sheltering-tree-4-stamps-n-lingers
I started by adding the Sheltering Trees to a Very Vanilla panel.  I stamped the tree trunks in Soft Suede, then used the Baby Wipe technique to add the leaves.  Onto my Baby Wipe, I dropped lots of drops of Old Olive, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry ink from my refills.  Then the Baby Wipe became my “ink pad”.  I stamped the leaves twice on each tree.  At first I was afraid the colors were a bit muddy – but then I looked outside and saw….those exact leaves…in those exact colors…on the trees.  So I went with it!

I added a grass swath in Old Olive under the trees – even though I knew it would get mostly covered by the rest of the images.

sitting-here-under-a-sheltering-tree-1-stamps-n-lingers
I made a “frame” around the panel with my Simply Scored board – adding two scored lines all the way around.  Then I added the sentiment from Sitting Here in Early Espresso at the bottom of the panel.

To make my images, I stamped them all on Very Vanilla, with the intent to fussy cut them.  First I stamped the sleeping dog from Sitting Here in Soft Suede and colored him with Delightful Dijon, using the Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  Then I laid a sticky note mask over the dog and stamped the basket in Soft Suede.  It, too, was colored with the Clear Wink brush, using Crumb Cake Ink.  Then I fussy cut the whole thing.

sitting-here-under-a-sheltering-tree-2-stamps-n-lingers

Bella – I used the image with Bella nose-to-nose with the turtle (but the turtle lost out – next time!) – is stamped in Soft Suede and colored with a combination of Crumb Cake and Early Espresso (I had a photo of the lady’s second dog, so I tried to color Bella as close as I could).  Once he was all colored up – I fussy cut him as well.

The bench, stamped in Soft Suede and colored with Crumb Cake and Cajun Craze for the cushion, and then fussy cut, was the final piece.  Well – except for a couple of pillows that I stamped in Soft Suede and colored with a few Stampin’ Write Markers.  I also rounded them up a bit with my stylus.

sitting-here-under-a-sheltering-tree-3-stamps-n-lingers
Once everything was cut out, I started building the scene.  I adhered Bella first with Liquid Glue, then the bench.  Over that, I popped the sleeping pup with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Lastly, I added the pillows, also with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I SNAILd the whole thing to a Crushed Curry mat and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the sentiment from Better Together in Early Espresso on a Very Vanilla panel.  I repeated the double scored lines and then stamped the flower pot from Sitting Here in the corner in Soft Suede.  I colored the flowers and leaves with various Stampin’ Write Markers.

sitting-here-under-a-sheltering-tree-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Cajun Craze card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Medium Very Vanilla Envelope got my non-SU! lab stamp in Soft Suede, colored with Delightful Dijon.  I also added a second image of Bella in Soft Suede, and tried to repeat the coloring I’d used on the inside…

sitting-here-under-a-sheltering-tree-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and on the envelope flap I added the Sitting Here flower pot, coloring it the same way that I did the one on the inside of the card.

sitting-here-under-a-sheltering-tree-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I like this little scene of the dogs with the Sitting Here bench under the fall-shrouded Sheltering Trees.  I hope the recipient recognizes the attempt to portray her dogs! And – I hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here with a Flourish!

Welcome back, folks – hope you enjoyed the Weekend Time Warp!  We actually had rain on Sunday!  It was wonderful – a little more than had been predicted, along with some lightning.  We sure do need it.  We could really use it every day for a week straight!

So here’s a thing.  You guys know I’ve been talking – sort of obscurely – about a dog.  You know we lost our guy last summer.  You know my hubby isn’t ready for another dog.

But, here’s the thing – I found one at a rescue that I thought might just be perfect!  He’s a 6 year old Aussie named Roy.  Wayne actually said – Ok – when I told him I wanted to get some more info.

My foot’s in the door, folks! I sent the application in – it was the only way to get said more info.

Then I went to dinner at my friend’s house.  And got an e-mail from the rescue.  Roy’s being adopted this weekend.

Waaaaahhhh.  I didn’t even know I wanted him until yesterday and now I’m super bummed cuz I can’t have him.  Waaaaaahhhhh! 🙁 🙁 🙁

I guess I just have to keep looking.  Foot – in door!

Now – my card for today.  It’s another sympathy card for my friend – the one I made last weekend (as I suspected) didn’t answer the mail.  She really really wanted the Sitting Here swing on the card.  That’s a really popular image, don’t you know?  So – I made another stab at it, with her requested sentiments from the Better Together stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Artistically Better Together Sympathy

Hey, ya’ll – welcome to the week.  I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to get after it again!

Before we get started – can someone tell me why I stayed up until almost midnight on Saturday night?  If you know me, then you know that’s about 4 hours past my “sweet-spot bedtime”.  I stayed up watching The Force Awakens.  Which is fine.  Except that…I’d recorded it.  And – it’s been playing on every single Starz channel pretty much 24/7 since it opened up on Saturday.  Which means I’ve now – on Sunday night – watched it approximately 700 times.

Or….maybe 10.

When I was younger – waaaaaay younger – one of my first driving excursions (without a parent in the car!) was to take my brother and I to see Star Wars.

The first one.

Which is really the fourth one…

And remains – for me – the best one!

It was my first introduction to Han Solo/Harrison Ford – thus starting a life-long crush.  Luke Skywalker?  Nah – Han’s the Man!  And I saw him in it many more times after that.  You know – when you had to go to a theater to see a movie?  Drive?  Park?  Walk in and find a seat?  No Redbox – no HBO….

And boy oh boy – (unlike – IMHO – Luke) he’s aged….beautifully.

(Caution – major spoiler alert coming next….skip to the card if you haven’t seen the movie and plan to!)

************************************************************************************************************************
SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER
************************************************************************************************************************

For each of the 700 times I watched the movie this weekend, I yelled bad bad words at Kylo Ren when he…..killed/murdered/assasinated….Han.

When I watched it in the theater, I just sat in stunned and horrified silence.

I don’t think this’ll be like the great carbomite freezing incident of Empire.  It’ll be tough to bring him back from a light-saber thru the heart.

Star Wars will never be the same for me…. 🙁 🙁 🙁

So I made a sympathy card for myself. 😉

Actually, it’s another request card, but…I’m not sure it’s going to answer the mail.  She asked for no flowers, mentioned the swing in Sitting Here.  But…I didn’t want to do that for you again so quick.  And I was afraid I’d end up making yesterday’s card again today – whether I meant to or not!

I decided to go with one of the pretty silhouette images in Artistically Asian, paired up with some Paisleys & Posies images.  And sentiments from Better Together.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Better Together Bloomin’ Heart Sympathy

Hey, y’all.  It’s Sunday – hope you’re enjoying the weekend!  I’m card making and Good-willing and avoiding-cleaning….  and contemplating a re-arranging of my crafting area.

Contemplating is hard work.  It’s way more intense than what Wayne does, which is Debating.  He’s always Debating what to do.  This?  That?  Neither?  Debating is a long-term exercise.  It can last for…years!

Contemplating, on the other hand, is more difficult.  Contemplating has a time-limit.  When you contemplate – you’ve already done your debating and decided that you will do something.  You probably even know what the something is…contemplating is where you determine the how to do the something you’ve done decided to do.  Do you see? 😉

My contemplation will continue for a bit longer – my Russian visitor is not coming now until the end of the year….so…I have a bit of a cleaning/contemplating/re-arranging reprieve!

My card today is for a friend who just lost her dog.  Her story hit me pretty close to home, because her dog became ill rather suddenly, spent time at the vet and then died.  Just like our Buck did last summer.  So when I heard the news, I needed to send a card.  I went with the super stamp set called Better Together, and a little bit of Thoughts & Prayers.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Better Together Flourishing Sympathy!

Good morning, y’all.  I hope your week went well and that you’re all ready for the weekend.  And that you’re all safe and sound – there are many of our fellows this morning that are neither safe, nor sound.  If any of you are in the floods or fires – you have my heartiest wish for better times. 🙁

My card today is a sympathy card for a friend.  She requested one – I don’t know if this is going to answer the mail or not.  She wanted it personalized, but had no ideas for how to do that.  So…hopefully “pretty” will work!

I used some of the pretty copper foil paper from the soon-to-be-available Petals & Paisleys Specialty DSP and some from the Irresistibly Floral DSP in the Annual Catalog.  With the addition of my Better Together sentiments, and some die cuts, I got what I think is a lovely sympathy card.  Take a look-see:
