Stampin’ Up! Lovely as Trees and Thoughtful Prayers on Black Ice for Stamp Ink Paper #141

Good morning, y’all!  Happy Tuesday!

Being Tuesday, it’s time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge – and this week it’s a sketch challenge!

I used a fun technique that I recently came across called the Black Ice technique.  I did it on Copper Foil, using the Lovely as a Tree pine image and a sentiment from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Cool, huh?  Looks like an icy-rain! Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Hold On To Hope Thoughts & Prayers

It’s Monday, y’all!  I’ve got but one thing to say about that.  Bleh.

I repeat.  Bleh.

And that’s all on that subject.

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, thanks so much for spending part of your weekend with me!  If not, but would like to see how to make this card, here’s the YouTube replay!

I needed a sympathy card this week – my husband’s Granny died last Monday.  She pretty much raised him, so it was a blow.  She was 98 – so it wasn’t a shock.  She was ready to go home.  I thought that the beautiful Hold On To Hope stamp set and the bundled Cross of Hope Framelits were a perfect choice, especially when combined with a sentiment from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Most of the “how” to do this one is in the video, so be sure to check it out! 🙂 Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Hold Onto Hope Sneak Peek Sympathy Card

Good morning, y’all!  Welcome to the last weekend of 2017!!  Yikes!

Sadly, for some folks in my extended circle of friends, this hasn’t been a great week.  And, I need a Sympathy card to send.  So, I pulled out a new bundle in the 2018 Occasions Catalog.  The lovely Hold Onto Hope stamp set, bundled with the Cross of Hope Framelits, is a gorgeous set, perfect for the occasion.  Especially when combined with a sentiment from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  Take a look-see:

As you can maybe see, I also broke out my package of new Brusho Colors! 🙂

I started with a piece of Shimmery White card stock.  Using the pin-hole-in-the-top method, I shook a little bit of the Prussian Blue around the outer edges of the panel.  In the middle, I sprinkled some Yellow.  I lightly spritzed the panel with water using my Stampin’ Spritzer.  I let the panel dry naturally, dabbing off any water that pooled on the edges.  Once it was completely dry, I cut it down to the finished size for the front of my card.

I inked up the pretty floral spray image in the Hold Onto Hope set (avail 3 Jan) with Versamark and stamped it twice on the panel.  I sprinkled the images with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them with my Heat Tool.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Island Indigo mat.

For the cross, I cut a Wood Textures DSP solid cross with the die in the Cross of Hope Framelits and a Silver Foil detailed Cross with a second die.  I adhered them together with Liquid Glue.

I used some new Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon (3 Jan) to drape around the Cross.  I stuck a Glue Dot in the center of the Cross and used that to start the drape.  I put Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the Cross and popped it onto the card front – running the tails of the ribbon behind it as I stuck it on.  Over the center of the ribbon, I used another Glue Dot to adhere a new Petal Passion Embellishment (3 Jan) over the top of the Organza Ribbon.

For the sentiment, I stamped the sentiment from Thoughts & Prayers in Island Indigo on a strip of Shimmery White.  I snipped banner ends with my Paper Snips and edged it with my Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I popped it over the Cross with Liquid Glue and a couple of Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a scrap of Shimmery White, I stamped the pretty little flower from Hold Onto Hope.  I colored the stamp with my Daffodil Delight, Island Indigo and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped it on the card stock.  Then I cut it with the die in the Cross of Hope Framelits.  I used Liquid Glue and a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional to adhere it over the Cross.  I added one Pearl Basic Jewel and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to align and stamp the sentiment from Hold Onto Hope in Island Indigo on a Shimmery White panel.  Then I repeated the flower…

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to an Island Indigo mat.  Before going further, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and stamped the little corner image from Hold Onto Hope in Basic Gray Archival Ink in the corners (front and inside) of my Basic Gray card base.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the inner liner into the card base.

I decided to add a little more to the card front – so I cut a couple pieces off a Delicate White Doily and adhered them to the back of the card front – then I popped it on the front of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I added more Basic Gray Hold Onto Hope corners and flowers…

…and I added a little more Wooden Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love how the Brusho background turned out, don’t you?  I think it looks serene and sort of…heavenly!  And I loved this Hold Onto Hope bundle the very first moment I saw it in the 2018 Occasions Catalog!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Today the Dad went up to NC to do some work across the weekend.  So we all helped him get loaded and ready to go!

Finn had a doggy-dilemma.

Stay with Mom?  Go with Dad?

Difficult choice for a little kid – one who loves both his parents!

But…a road trip?!?

In the end, he made the selfless decision to stay here and protect me.

So…he bravely said good-bye to the Dad…

…and promptly forgot all about him while we worked the gates for the horses.

He’s a go-with-the-flow kind of guy – focused on the right here, right now.  Not the woulda-coulda-shoulda’s.

We should all be so smart!

Stampin’ Up! Better Together Seaside Shore Sympathy Card

Good morning, y’all – it’s Friday and it’s Veteran’s Day!  For many it’s a day off – please take a moment to reflect on the reason for the Holiday!  And if you see one – thank a Vet for the freedoms you enjoy today!  I saw a great sign on Facebook – it read “The flag does not fly because the wind blows it, it flies with the last breath of each Soldier who died protecting it.”  Very true – but add Sailor, Airman, and Marine!  Thank you one and all! 🙂

Finn’s had a busy couple of days – and learned a lesson or two.  Not all of them fun – but all of them necessary.  The other night (Wednesday now), he got a little closer to the ponies than he should have – and…got bonked.  Or stepped on.  We’re not entirely sure – I was leading Cerah and Wayne was pulling feed.  I know she didn’t kick him.  But he cried like he’d been shot.  Broke my heart. 🙁  He wasn’t hurt – just had a red spot by his nose.  He did, however, learn a lesson that every farm dog has to learn at some point – ya gotta watch out for the business end of the horses!  He was much less interested this morning in running in to try to grab a horse tail, I can tell you!

Still made me feel awful, even though I know it was the best kind of lesson.  Why was it a good lesson?  He didn’t get seriously injured and neither I nor Wayne had anything at all to do with it – it was all the pony and the dog.  So we didn’t “do” anything to him – he did it to himself.

Okay.  Yea.  Even knowing all that, I still feel bad. 🙁

On Thursday – he was over the trauma (other than his lack of interest in another close encounter!)….

finn-eating-5-12-months
A little breakfast (almost time for the stand to raise his bowl up, huh?), followed by a nap…

finn-sleeping-upside-down-5-12-months
…and then a trip in the golf cart!

finn-on-the-golf-cart-5-12-months
He’s not old enough to drive yet – not even in dog years!  I think he’d give it a shot, though, given the opportunity!

So, we made it thru the trauma of the “pony lesson” and recovered well.  All that’s left is a little pink area – just enough to make the mom feel bad every time she sees it. 😉

While he was recovering, I was making a special request Sympathy card.  No…not the Sitting Here stamp set this time.  This request was for a more religious card, with a Cross on it.  And with a seashore and shells theme.

So I pulled out the Seaside Shore, Better Together and the lovely Thoughts & Prayers stamp sets.  Added in a little Botanical Builder Framelits and Serene Scenery DSP and…take a look-see:

better-together-seaside-shore-4-stamps-n-lingers
I started with a piece of the ocean-y paper in Serene Scenery as my card front.  The Cross is a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, stamped in Crumb Cake ink using the Hardwood background stamp.  I cut two pieces – 3/8″ wide each – and sponged them all over with more Crumb Cake.  For the longer piece, I snipped the “bottom” on a slight diagonal – I was planning ahead (for once!) to make it look like the Cross was dug into the sand.  Then I sponged the edges with Early Espresso.  A quick burnish on the back with my stylus gave each piece some depth and then I adhered the pieces together with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.

better-together-seaside-shore-2-stamps-n-lingers
Before I stuck the Cross onto the card front, I pulled out the grasses image from the Wetlands stamp set and stamped it once in Crumb Cake on the card front.  Then I laid the Cross down – the way I planned it to go (kind of leaning) – and stamped the grasses again – going over the Cross.  That made it look like the grasses were growing up around it.

I wrapped a length of Kraft Rope Trim around the Cross, adhering it lightly with Liquid Glue, and then popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

better-together-seaside-shore-3-stamps-n-lingers
I made a bunch of shells and starfish from the Seaside Shore stamp set.  I heat embossed shells in Copper and Gold Stampin’ Emboss Poweder. I stamped several in Bermuda Bay ink and then quickly sprinkled them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated them up.  I also made some starfish, stamping them in Marina Mist and then sprinkling them with Clear emboss powder and heating them.  Then I fussy cut them all.

I also employed the Botanical Builder Framelits, cutting some tiny flowers in Very Vanilla, Pink Pirouette and Pool Party.  I added some Enamel Shapes – in Bermuda Bay, Marina Mist and Pool Party to the Very Vanilla flowers.

Once I had everything cut out, it was time to decorate the Cross!

better-together-seaside-shore-8-stamps-n-lingers
I used Liquid Glue and small pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional and just added shells and flowers and starfish until it looked good!  At the bottom of the cross, I used my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker to add some “wet sand” to help it look like the Cross is buried.  Then I popped a shell and a starfish on it!

The sentiment, from Better Together, is stamped in Marina Mist, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig.  Then I didn’t like the color, so I went over it with my Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker.  I SNAILd the whole thing to a Bermuda Bay mat and the card front was done! 🙂

better-together-seaside-shore-1-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I again used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the pretty sentiment from Thoughts & Prayers in Bermuda Bay to a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I added some Seaside Shore shells and starfish in Bermuda Bay and Marina Mist.

better-together-seaside-shore-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Bermuda Bay mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, SNAILd the card front on, and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more Seaside Shore shells and starfish on the front…

better-together-seaside-shore-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and some Crumb Cake grasses from the Wetlands set on the flap.

better-together-seaside-shore-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I am ridiculously pleased with the shell-encrusted Cross on the beach.  I think it turned out really well – and the woman who requested it was pleased as well.  So….bonus!  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Better Together Bloomin’ Heart Sympathy

Hey, y’all.  It’s Sunday – hope you’re enjoying the weekend!  I’m card making and Good-willing and avoiding-cleaning….  and contemplating a re-arranging of my crafting area.

Contemplating is hard work.  It’s way more intense than what Wayne does, which is Debating.  He’s always Debating what to do.  This?  That?  Neither?  Debating is a long-term exercise.  It can last for…years!

Contemplating, on the other hand, is more difficult.  Contemplating has a time-limit.  When you contemplate – you’ve already done your debating and decided that you will do something.  You probably even know what the something is…contemplating is where you determine the how to do the something you’ve done decided to do.  Do you see? 😉

My contemplation will continue for a bit longer – my Russian visitor is not coming now until the end of the year….so…I have a bit of a cleaning/contemplating/re-arranging reprieve!

My card today is for a friend who just lost her dog.  Her story hit me pretty close to home, because her dog became ill rather suddenly, spent time at the vet and then died.  Just like our Buck did last summer.  So when I heard the news, I needed to send a card.  I went with the super stamp set called Better Together, and a little bit of Thoughts & Prayers.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Best Birds Sympathy Card

Well, as Tuesday dawns – so does the need for a sympathy card.  I hate that it’s so, but…  this one happens to be for the loss of a pet – an older dog who’d “had a good life” with his parents and “knew he was loved”.  But those are the platitudes offered by folk who don’t understand the hole that’s left in our lives when they leave – after all, he was “just a dog”.

But – those of us who know – and I suspect the folks that read this blog are those very people – we understand.  It’s a time to grieve.  And a time to offer unqualified sympathy.

So, I made a card.  I didn’t emphasize the “pet” loss.  Just the need to send my thoughts and sympathy.  I employed the new Best Birds bundle – with the stamp set and the Birds & Blooms Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Remarkable You Thoughts & Prayers Sympathy

Hello to y’all on this Monday morning!  By the time this post goes live, I’ll have been at work for almost 2 hours.  Which is fairly disgusting, really, don’t you think?  But, apparently a lot of folks here go to work at the hind-end crack of dawn – the other day, I was mystified by how many people were on the road with me.  And by how many of them wanted to race down the dark two-lane highway at like….a thousand miles an hour!  Craziness!

So – before I went to bed at 7 last night – only a slight exaggeration! – I got this card together for y’all.  I used the beautiful floral images in the Remarkable You stamp set.  I’d originally planned this to be a thank-you card, but….I really felt the need to make a sympathy card.  To that end, I pulled out Thoughts & Prayers again.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Basket For You Get Well

Good morning, y’all.  I’m sitting here on Saturday night writing this post, listening to Home Free on YouTube – watching a storm gather outside the window.  I’ve had a good day – resting, making cards, resting some more!  I hope that wherever you’re reading this – your weekend is going swimmingly! 🙂

My card today uses a beautiful Host-Exclusive stamp set that will be available on 1 June.  You know that means you need to host a workshop in order to be able to get this beautiful set.  One way to do that would be to sign up for my Online Host Club!  Then you could order it in your Host month!  Just sayin’…..  scroll on down for the details and snap up one of those last spots! 🙂

The stamp set I’m referring to is called Basket For You, and it’s the focal point of this card.  I added a sentiment from Thoughts & Prayers and this is what I ended up with.  Take a look-see:
