Stampin’ Up! Quilted Christmas Thanks

Happy Hawmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well – and that you’re getting all ready for Christmas!

Before we get going – two announcements…

Okay – here we go. I made a thank you card today – cuz Christmas and thank-you cards go hand-in-hand!  This one is easy – especially since I’ve given you all the card cuts! – and will let you use some of those Christmas DSP scraps hanging around here and there.  In this case, I used the Quilted Christmas DSP and a little Wood Textures DSP along with sentiments from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set.  Take a look-see:

I played along with the sketch at TGIF Challenges – although I didn’t go square!

I started out by Fast Fuse-ing a piece of the Wood Textures DSP to a Garden Green mat.  

Then I cut four strips of Quilted Christmas DSP and matted them on Garden Green, too!

Using my highly calibrated Mark-1 Eyeball, I used Liquid Glue to carefully adhere my strips to the Wood Textures panel, getting them as evenly spaced as I could.

I stamped a nice sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set in Real Red on a piece of Whsiepr White card stock and punched it out with my 2 1/4″ Circle Punch.  Using Liquid Glue, I adhered that to a Garden Green scalloped mat cut with the Circles Layering Framelits and then to a Silver Foil Snowflake.

I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue and added a Stitched Felt Embellishment with a strip of Fast Fuse.  I added some silver hearts from the Metallic Enamel Shapes and it was done.

But – it wasn’t.  It needed….something.  So – I used a White Gel Pen to make some stitches around the Garden Green mat.

And that did it!

On the inside, I matted a piece of Whisper White card stock to another piece of Wood Textures DSP.  Then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second Thankful Thoughts sentiment in Real Red.  Over the top, I added a couple of “stitched” tree shapes from the Christmas Quilt stamp set in Garden Green and another silver heart Metallic Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Garden Green mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I repeated the Christmas Quilt shapes in Garden Green on the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and I added some more of the Quilted Christmas DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A Christmas-y non-Christmas card!  We all need thank you cards at this time of year, and Thankful Thoughts lends itself perfectly – especially when paired with some Quilted Christmas DSP!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix  

My little (or not-so-little these days!) Man is a fun guy to have on a road trip!  

Mostly he sleeps…

But every once in a while, he comes to see what’s going on in the front of the truck.

And – when I get very very lucky, I can capture a doggie (that’s a dog-selfie…)…

And then, if I just keep at it, I get…

Possibly the cutest Finn-picture ever!!  Seriously – look at that face!! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Celebrate a Night in Bethlehem for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop!

Good mornin’, y’all – welcome to another edition of Amy’s Inkin’ Krew team blog hop!  Each month we make projects centered around a theme – and this month is Celebrate!  We can interpret that any way we want – so…be sure to check and see everyone’s projects – we’ve got a bunch of talented ladies hopping with us this month!  

I decided to Celebrate the reason for the season!  I did that with the Night in Bethlehem stamp set and I used the new Celebrate You Thinlits (which will be available on 3 Jan as a free gift with a $100 purchase in the Sale-A-Bration flyer!) to create my eclipse card.  Take a look-see:

I borrowed a layout idea from the Fusion Challenge this week.

One of the talented ladies in their design team, Carol Mayne, had done an eclipse card with a similar looking stamp set – it was such a beautiful idea that I borrowed some elements from her!  You can check out her card up on the Fusion Challenge page!

So – I started with a piece of Thick Whisper White card stock for the card front and stamped several of the images from the Night of Bethlehem stamp set in Basic Black Archival Ink and one shepherd in Basic Gray Archival Ink on the front.

Above the scene, I stamped the stars image from Night of Bethlehem a few times in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  

I cut the word sentiment from the Celebrate You Thinlits (3 Jan 18) – being sure to save the little cut out pieces.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Berry Burst mat.  I laid the sentiment back in the negative space and used it as a guide to adhere all the little cut outs with Liquid Glue.

I cut three more Celebrate die cuts in Berry Burst card stock and used Liquid Glue to stack them all up – ending with the white stamped version on the top.  Then I used a little more Liquid Glue to adhere the sentiment back in place.

I “wrapped” two lengths of new Berry Burst 3/8″ Metallic Edged Ribbon (Occasions catalog – 3 Jan) around the panel, securing them in the back with scotch tape.  Then I adhered a looped short length with a Glue Dot.

I made a Billie Moan bow with Silver Metallic Thread (folks – this ain’t for the faint of heart!  Don’t use Metallic Thread for your first bow of this kind!  Start with Linen Thread and work up to this Metallic Thread! Trust.  Me.)  I adhered it with a Glue Dot and then stuck on a little white bow from the Season of Glitz Mini Gift Bows.  I added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a sentiment from Night in Bethlehem in Basic Black Archival Ink on a Whisper White panel.

I matted the panel on Berry Burst and wrapped a length of the Berry Burst 3/8″ Metallic-Edged Ribbon around it, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I Fast Fuse’d it into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a few more Night in Bethlehem images in Basic Black and Basic Gray Archival Ink on the front…

…and on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the Berry Burst for this card, don’t you?  And – how cool is that sentiment die!  I’m loving that Celebrate You Thinlits set so much – and the fact that it’ll be free is just the icing on the cake!  Night of Bethlehem is sticking around for a little bit, y’all – but…don’t risk not getting it if you want it, okay?  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Season of Whimsy & Pines for the Stamp Ink Paper #129

Hey, y’all!  Welcome to Tuesday and another fun challenge from Stamp Ink Paper!  

Our Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #129 this week is a color challenge…

I pulled out the fun Host set called Season of Whimsy from the 2017 Holiday Catalog for this one and added some pine boughs from the Pretty Pines Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

This card also played along quite nicely with the FabFriday challenge this week.

I started this one with a piece of gold plaid paper from the Year of Cheer Specialty DSP matted on Cherry Cobbler card stock for the card front.  Then I cut a piece of Wood Textures DSP, matted it on Cherry Cobbler and Fast Fuse’d it to the card front.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the sentiment from the Season of Whimsy set in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.

On a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock, I stamped the three Season of Whimsy ornaments in Versamark and heat embossed them in Gold.  Then I colored each of them with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker and fussy cut them.

I cut a bunch of Pretty Pines Thinlits pine boughs in Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green, and a couple of Cherry Cobbler berries, too!

I built my little “scene” by adhering the pine boughs with Liquid Glue and interspersing the Season of Whimsy ornaments amongst them.  I used a couple of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the final largest ornament.

I tied a small bow from a piece of Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  To finish things off, I added a few gold Metallic Enamel Shapes!

On the inside, I left the liner blank, simply repeating the layers on the front of the card.  I matted a piece of Year of Cheer Specialty DSP on Cherry Cobbler and, over that, Fast Fuse’d a Cherry Cobbler matted piece of Whisper White.

I Fast Fuse’d the layered panels into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Gold embossed ornament from Season of Whimsy on the front – colored with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker…

…and a little more of the Wood Textures DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  A couple of greens and some Cherry Cobbler to make a wonderful Pretty Pine-filled display of Christmas ornaments courtesy of the Season of Whimsy stamp set!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix  

So – one of the fun things that happened to the Man this past weekend was meeting Lucky.  

Lucky lives there in North Carolina.  

Lucky and Finn hit it off immediately!  Of course, Lucky may have wished Finn had a smidge less energy – he was a bit worn out by the time the play date ended.

Hard to imagine….

…airs above the ground…


 

This kind of play takes a toll, people.  Even on a youngster Aussie!

He said a fond adieu to Lucky and I think they made tentative plans for a re-match in the near future!  And then he climbed in the truck to recuperate!

Stampin’ Up! Merry Musical Christmas Happiness!

Happy Monday, y’all!  And – since SU! is giving EVERYone FREE SHIPPING TODAY – it really IS a Happy Monday!

So – if you were able to join me last night on my Facebook Live video, thank you so much for spending part of your Sunday with me!  If not, and you’d like to watch – here’s the YouTube replay! Fair Warning – there were technical difficulties with my internet last night and this version is after dealing with that.  There’s some heavy, disgusted signing at the start!  Drive on…it gets better, I promise!! 😉

I sort of indulged myself with this card, y’all!  I went to a favorite standby – the retiring Christmas Happiness stamp set and Merry Music DSP – to make today’s Christmas Card.  Take a look-see:

The layout is courtesy of this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge:

I started with a piece of striped Cherry Cobbler paper from the Be Merry DSP and adhered it to the front of a Basic Black card base with Liquid Glue.

My Merry Music DSP art piece is stamped a few times with some Garden Green pine boughs from the Christmas Happiness stamp set.  I stamped them a couple times full strength and once without re-inking.  Then I added a couple of pine cones – the outline image was stamped in Early Espresso and the fill-in image in Soft Suede.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Basic Black mat and then popped it over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To make the sentiment, I inked the words separately in Cherry Cobbler – and stamped them in a straight line (the sentiment image has them stacked) – on a strip of Whisper White card stock.  I snipped a banner in one end and then edged the banner with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.  I used Liquid Glue and a single Mini Stampin’ Dimensional (under the left end) to adhere it to the card front.

I added a few Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shapes and a Linen Thread Billie Moan bow and the card front was done!

On the inside, I repeated the Be Merry DSP to cover the inside of the card base.  Then I stamped a second Christmas Happiness sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on a Whisper White panel.  Over that, I stamped a pine bough in stamped-off-once Garden Green and added a Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Basic Black mat and into the card base, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Garden Green Christmas Happiness pine bough and an Early Espresso/Soft Suede pine cone on the front…

…and more of the Be Merry DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Christmas Happiness pine boughs and Merry Music DSP – a classically perfectly Christmas card!!  Hope you like – and are making sure this beautiful pair is in your stash before it’s gone forever!

Finn Fan Fix  

On Saturday, we left early in the morning – well, “early” is a bit of an exxageration.  We left at 7am – after debating the wisdom of driving out in The Big Snow Event of 2017.  But we ended up deciding to give it a shot and we headed out to go up to NC to check on our property up there and get a couple of things done.

This is how it looked as we left…

Y’all.  It is NOT supposed to look like that in Atlanta.  Seriously.

We stopped to top off the fuel tank – just in case…

While Wayne took care of that, I took a picture of the Cracker Barrel…

…and the Man relaxed in comfort in the back of the truck.

He had his bed and a blankie.  And his breakfast in a bowl right in front of him.  You can see his ears pulled back – he’s listening to his Dad clanking around with the fuel pump.

We had a great weekend – the snow continued much of the way but the roads were clear.  Finny had a good time – although I think some of the fun of riding was replaced by boredom!

Finn Fan Fix  

We spent Saturday traveling – Finn had a BIG ride – and was quite ready to be done with that, thank-you-very-much!

I have lots of pictures of him – some so sweet….you’ll get a cavity just looking at him.

But – couldn’t get them from the phone to the computer on Saturday night.  So – you’ll have to make do with a picture from Friday’s “snow event”.

Can you see how long that branch is?!?  He kept picking it up and trying to carry it and it would get stuck between two trees.  So he’d drop it and circle round trying to come at it a different way.  He managed to moved it around some – but I don’t think he ever made it to his final destination.

Which I’m pretty sure was in the house! 🙁

Well – in 2016, Finn’s first year, there wasn’t any snow.  At least none that I remember!

We had to run an errand on Friday morning and that’s what it was doing when we left.

When we got home about an hour later…

By evening?

Turns out that white stuff’s cold when you try to pick up a stick!! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Petal Passion Party Pandas Sneak Peek

Happy Friday, y’all!  And – as I write this on Thursday night, we’re waiting for snow!

At the grocery today – it was jammed.  I’m surprised there was any bread or milk left!  People get a little goofy here in the south when we think snow might show up.

Guess we’ll know tomorrow.  Uh – today! 🙂

Now, I swore to myself that I was going to do a card with current products today.  And I seriously meant to, y’all – really I did!  And then I saw a color challenge and…I saw Pandas!  Party Pandas from the 2018 Sale-A-Bration flyer, to be exact.  And…paper from the Petal Passion DSP.  So I ran with it, and…take a look-see:

And here’s the color challenge from the Color Throwdown that led me to the panda epiphany.

And, since I’m always looking for a little design help, I borrowed the sketch from this weeks MFT Wednesday Sketch challenge.

I started with a piece of the black and white paper from the Petal Passion DSP (avail 3 Jan in the 2018 Occasions Catalog) and colored some of the dots with my Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends and my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I matted it on Cherry Cobbler card stock.

I cut two small Whisper White circles with my Stitched Shapes Framelits dies and matted them on scalloped circles of Cherry Cobbler card stock, cut with the Circles Layering Framelits.  I adhered them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped two of the Party Pandas (avail 3 Jan for FREE in the SAB Flyer) in Basic Black Archival Ink on Whisper White and fussy cut them.  The little guy on the bottom was holding a stamped balloon.  With no regard for “rules” I flagrantly cut it off!  I colored the top guy’s party hat with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker.  Then I used a bunch of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them onto the circles.

I colored the balloon with my Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends and added a little “light” with a non-SU! White Gel Pen. I popped it onto the card front with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

The sentiment, from Party Pandas, is stamped in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White and cut with a die from the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  I edged it with my Cherry Cobbler Marker and added it to the panda with some Liquid Glue and a couple of Mini Dimensionals on the ends.

To finish off, I added a length of Basic Black Baker’s Twine, adhering it here and there with Liquid Glue, and a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

On the inside, I stamped the balloons in Basic Black Archival Ink up the side of a Whisper White panel.  How’d I do that?  Well…I cut the balloon and string right smack off of the rubber stamp!

You can always stamp it by sticking it on a block all by its lonesome!

I did some paper piecing and stamped the balloon on more of the Petal Passion DSP, colored the dots with my Stampin’ Blends and snipped them out.  I adhered them with Liquid Glue and added some Party Panda “confetti” in Cherry Cobbler.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat and into my Smoky Slate card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Party Panda balloons and “confetti” up the side – this time all colored with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends…

…and a little more Petal Passion DSP – colored – on the envelope flap!

But – that was pretty hard to see – cuz it’s in webbing and it buries itself in all his fur!

So…I got him a new one!

Stampin’ Up! Celebrate You with Lots of Lavender Sneak Peek for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! We’ve got a nice little sketch to play with today – and it’s wide open!  Be sure to check out all the ladies’ projects when you get done here!  

Here’s the sketch…

So – let me ask y’all something.  And this is probably a stupid question.

Ready?

Okay.  What is your favorite price?

I suppose a lot of you rich folk are saying…”well, Mary, since money is no object for me….”

But – ask me what my favorite price is!!

And the answer is…zero.  Zilch.  Nada.  FREE!

If that happens to also be your favorite price, then Sale-A-Bration, which starts on 3 Jan – is right up your alley.  And so is my card for today!  It uses three different goodies that you’re going to be able to get for free during SAB.  Lots of Lavender is a gorgeous botanical stamp set and the Amazing You is a sentiment/image set that coordinates with a wondrous thinlits set called Celebrate You.  Take a look-see at what happens when you put them together.

Oh wait – did you see another new goody?  Two? Yep.  It’s the Simple Stripes TIEF and some new Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon from the Occasions Catalog!

I played along with another challenge from the Card Concept – and their inspiration photo helped me with the stripes and the twine and the Crumb Cake dominant color.

I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock for the card front and stamped the gorgeous Lots of Lavender flower bouquet in Soft Suede.  Then I cut out the circle with the second-to-largest circle die in the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I removed the circle and DE-bossed the rest of the card front in that Simple Stripes TIEF.  Then I Fast Fuse’d it to a Whisper White panel.

I wrapped a length of that new Whisper White 1/4″ Organza Ribbon (avail 3 Jan) around the matted panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape and then matted the whole thing on a Flirty Flamingo panel.

Using my Blender Pen, I colored just the flowers on just the die cut circle in Flirty Flamingo.  I colored all the petals once and then went back and colored some of them a second time to darken the shade.  Then I touched up each petal with a non-SU! White Gel Pen.  

The first part of the sentiment is from the SAB Amazing You stamp set – I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and stamped “you” in Soft Suede under the flowers then I popped the circle back onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The large sentiment is one of the three gorgeous dies in the Celebrate You Thinlits.  This Thinlit set will be available free with a $100 purchase – this is the first time SU! has offered multiple levels of free goodness during Sale-A-Bration!

I used the “amazing” die to cut the word in Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper then adhered it over the popped up circle and organza ribbon.

I finished off the card front with a quick bow of Flirty Flamingo Baker’s Twine and a few Pearl Basic Jewels.

On the inside, I added the Lots of Lavender image in Soft Suede ink to another piece of Crumb Cake and colored just the flowers with my Blender Pen and Flirty Flamingo ink. Then I touched each petal with the White Gel Pen.

 

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Whisper White and Flirty Flamingo mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Lots of Lavender flower – it looks a little different since it’s stamped on white instead of the Crumb Cake – on the front…

…and I stamped another little image from the Lots of Lavender set on the envelope in Soft Suede – and colored it with my Flirty Flamingo and Blender Pen.

Et Voila!  Y’all – I was so freakin’ excited to see this new word thinlit set – the Celebrate You Thinlits – and boy… was I right to be excited!  How gorgeous is that sentiment?  And it works perfectly with the Amazing You stamp set, don’t you think?  I was equally happy to get the Lots of Lavender stamp set – I’m a sucker for beautiful flowers that I can’t kill!! 🙂
