Stampin’ Up! Quilted Christmas Thanks

Happy Hawmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well – and that you’re getting all ready for Christmas!

Before we get going – two announcements…

First:  don’t forget about the 2018 Occasions Catalog Shares – they’re open now and starting to fill up.  Check them out and get signed up right here!

Second:  I’ve got new Online Host Clubs kicking off on 3 Jan (this date should seem familiar!) and I’ve got some openings!  You can scroll on down for all the details and then let me know that you want in!  Sale-A-Bration is a great time to Host a workshop – and an Online Host Club gives you a completely painless way to get the benefits without any of the work!  So…check it out!

Okay – here we go. I made a thank you card today – cuz Christmas and thank-you cards go hand-in-hand!  This one is easy – especially since I’ve given you all the card cuts! – and will let you use some of those Christmas DSP scraps hanging around here and there.  In this case, I used the Quilted Christmas DSP and a little Wood Textures DSP along with sentiments from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set.  Take a look-see:

I played along with the sketch at TGIF Challenges – although I didn’t go square!

I started out by Fast Fuse-ing a piece of the Wood Textures DSP to a Garden Green mat.

Then I cut four strips of Quilted Christmas DSP and matted them on Garden Green, too!

Using my highly calibrated Mark-1 Eyeball, I used Liquid Glue to carefully adhere my strips to the Wood Textures panel, getting them as evenly spaced as I could.

I stamped a nice sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set in Real Red on a piece of Whsiepr White card stock and punched it out with my 2 1/4″ Circle Punch.  Using Liquid Glue, I adhered that to a Garden Green scalloped mat cut with the Circles Layering Framelits and then to a Silver Foil Snowflake.

I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue and added a Stitched Felt Embellishment with a strip of Fast Fuse.  I added some silver hearts from the Metallic Enamel Shapes and it was done.

But – it wasn’t.  It needed….something.  So – I used a White Gel Pen to make some stitches around the Garden Green mat.

And that did it!

On the inside, I matted a piece of Whisper White card stock to another piece of Wood Textures DSP.  Then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second Thankful Thoughts sentiment in Real Red.  Over the top, I added a couple of “stitched” tree shapes from the Christmas Quilt stamp set in Garden Green and another silver heart Metallic Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Garden Green mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I repeated the Christmas Quilt shapes in Garden Green on the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and I added some more of the Quilted Christmas DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A Christmas-y non-Christmas card!  We all need thank you cards at this time of year, and Thankful Thoughts lends itself perfectly – especially when paired with some Quilted Christmas DSP!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

My little (or not-so-little these days!) Man is a fun guy to have on a road trip!

Mostly he sleeps…

But every once in a while, he comes to see what’s going on in the front of the truck.

And – when I get very very lucky, I can capture a doggie (that’s a dog-selfie…)…

And then, if I just keep at it, I get…

Possibly the cutest Finn-picture ever!!  Seriously – look at that face!! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Quilted Christmas Trees for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! We’ve got a fun and Christmas-y sketch to play with today, so be sure to check ’em all out when you get done here!

Here’s the sketch in question!

I took it pretty literally, and used the Christmas Quilt stamp set and matching Build a Quilt Framelits, added some Wood Textures and Christmas Quilt DSPs and came up with…take a look-see:

This one was pretty easy, with just a touch of fussy cutting of some simple shapes.

I started by building the card front, with a piece of Garden Green paper from the Quilted Christmas DSP Stack, matted on Powder Pink.  Over that, I placed a piece of Wood Textures DSP.  I cut the panel, and then ran it thru the Big Shot with the long straight “dots” die from the Swirly Snowflake Thinlits along the long edge.  I matted it on Powder Pink and Fast Fuse’d it to the card front.

Then I made some Christmas trees!  Here are the trees I made…from left to right.

Tree 1:  I fussy cut a triangle from a piece of Christmas Quilt DSP.  Then I used the little “stitches” die in the Build A Quilt Framelits to add some “stitches”.

Tree 2:  I stamped the dotted triangle image from Quilted Christmas in Real Red on Whisper White and cut it with the die from the Build A Quilt set.  Then I fussy cut the plaid triangle from the DSP stack and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

Tree 3: this is a Stitched Felt Embellishment.  I stamped a little “tree stand” in Real Red and cut it with the matching die.

Tree 4:  Similar to the green plaid tree – just with a different triangle.  And – another “tree stand”.

Tree 5:  Similar to Tree 1.

I layered the trees over the Wood Textures DSP using Liquid Glue for three of them – and then I popped the Stitched Felt Embellishment and the far left tree on with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My sentiment, from Quilted Christmas, is stamped in Real Red ink on a strip of Powder Pink card stock.  I inked each word separately (started with Christmas) in order to get just those words.  I snipped banner ends on both ends, edged it with my Real Red Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it over the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a silver star Metallic Enamel Shape to the Stitched Felt Embellishment tree and a Rhinestone Basic Jewel to the sentiment and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added two trees to a Whisper White panel.  They both started with Real Red dotted outlines and then I snipped a tree from the Quilted Christmas DSP to adhere in the left tree.  For the second one, I masked the first tree with a sticky note and used the fill-images in Christmas Quilt in Powder Pink and Garden Green to fill it in.  Then I added a “base” in Real Red and Garden Green.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Garden Green card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Christmas Quilt tree on the front in Real Red, Garden Green and Powder Pink…

…and some more of the Quilted Christmas DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Trees made from Christmas Quilt and Build a Quilt pieces!  Cool!  Pretty versatile little bundle this one is, huh?  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Quilted Christmas Merry Little Christmas

Happy Monday, y’all.  An oxymoron isn’t the bestest way to start a blog post – but…there you have it.  Let’s call it a Fake-it-till-you-Make-it kind of deal!  Let’s see if we can make this into a great day, shall we!

If you were able to join me last night for my FB live video – thanks for giving me a part of your weekend!  If not, here’s a link to the video on YouTube, in case you want to watch!

I made this card in colors that remind me of my youth!  We always had blue-and-green Christmas lights on our house when I was growing up.  I remember wanting different colors – can’t recall if I wanted multicolored lights or all white… 🙂  But – regardless, we had blue-and-green and so this card is Christmas in my head!  I used the new Christmas Quilt stamp set and bundled Quilt Builder Framelits to make it (which you can get – and save some more green! – in one of my special bundles right now!).  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by the sketch at this week’s Fusion challenge:

And my not-so-traditonal Christmas colors are from the Color Throwdown challenge.

I started with two patterns in Garden Green from the Quilted Christmas DSP stack, matting both of them on Night of Navy card stock, and then adhering them together with Fast Fuse.

For the sentiment panel, I stamped the sentiment from Quilted Christmas in Night of Navy on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I matted it on Night of Navy and ran the whole thing thru the Quilt Top TIEF.  I adhered it with Liquid Glue to the card front.

The art piece is a piece of Whisper White, cut with a Stitched Shapes Framelits circle die and matted on a scalloped circle Night of Navy mat, cut with the Layering Circles Framelits.  I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For my quilt pieces, I first stamped the two diamond images in Night of Navy and Garden Green, then added the dotted outline in Night of Navy and cut it out with the matching die in the Quilt Builder Framelits.  I also cut a piece of the Quilted Christmas DSP Stack with the same die.  Then I used the square quilt dies to cut the “outline” shape in Night of Navy, snipping the middle out.

I adhered the Night of Navy piece to the quilted star and then added a bow tied with a double length of White Solid Baker’s Twine with a dab of Liquid Glue.  Under the bow I stuck a Garden Green Enamel Shape and that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added the Night of Navy and Garden Green “quilt” pieces to the corner of a Whisper White panel, then added the Night of Navy outline.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Quilted Christmas design on the front…

…and I added more of the Quilted Christmas DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  How pretty is this suite, y’all!?  There are so many possible combinations and different ways to put it all together – you can make any sort of “quilt” for any purpose at all!  Change up the sentiment – and you’re ready for anything.  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

Our sweet dog Buck was a Champion Sleeper.  I think he even had that title after his name.

Finn-y is a semi-pro sleeper.  He’s still young, so he’s still learning and has to practice daily.  Which he does with enthusiasm.  He’s already a Canine Good Citizen.  But he craves even more accolades.

So….Today – a retrospective.

The Many Sleeping Places Of Finn.  Or….How Finn is Training for his Champion Sleeper Title.

It takes grit.  It takes determination.  It takes single-minded focus on the goal.

You’re looking at a future Champion, y’all!.
