Stampin’ Up! Rustic Climbing Orchid

Morning, y’all – it’s Finally Friday!  And I’m glad.  It’ll be nice to not have to think about the “real job” for a minute – I’ve sorta got my hands full fretting about Finn.  Full Finn Fretting, if you will.  It’s a full-time job, for certain sure. 😉

The card I made today is clean and simple – and made easy by the existence of the Climbing Orchid bundle – which includes the Orchid Builder Framelits!  When I added a bunch of pink orchids to some Wood Textures DSP I got…well, take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Quilted Christmas Thanks

Happy Hawmp Day, y’all!  Hope your week is going well – and that you’re getting all ready for Christmas!

Before we get going – two announcements…

First:  don’t forget about the 2018 Occasions Catalog Shares – they’re open now and starting to fill up.  Check them out and get signed up right here!

Second:  I’ve got new Online Host Clubs kicking off on 3 Jan (this date should seem familiar!) and I’ve got some openings!  You can scroll on down for all the details and then let me know that you want in!  Sale-A-Bration is a great time to Host a workshop – and an Online Host Club gives you a completely painless way to get the benefits without any of the work!  So…check it out!

Okay – here we go. I made a thank you card today – cuz Christmas and thank-you cards go hand-in-hand!  This one is easy – especially since I’ve given you all the card cuts! – and will let you use some of those Christmas DSP scraps hanging around here and there.  In this case, I used the Quilted Christmas DSP and a little Wood Textures DSP along with sentiments from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set.  Take a look-see:

I played along with the sketch at TGIF Challenges – although I didn’t go square!

I started out by Fast Fuse-ing a piece of the Wood Textures DSP to a Garden Green mat.

Then I cut four strips of Quilted Christmas DSP and matted them on Garden Green, too!

Using my highly calibrated Mark-1 Eyeball, I used Liquid Glue to carefully adhere my strips to the Wood Textures panel, getting them as evenly spaced as I could.

I stamped a nice sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set in Real Red on a piece of Whsiepr White card stock and punched it out with my 2 1/4″ Circle Punch.  Using Liquid Glue, I adhered that to a Garden Green scalloped mat cut with the Circles Layering Framelits and then to a Silver Foil Snowflake.

I adhered the sentiment to the card front with Liquid Glue and added a Stitched Felt Embellishment with a strip of Fast Fuse.  I added some silver hearts from the Metallic Enamel Shapes and it was done.

But – it wasn’t.  It needed….something.  So – I used a White Gel Pen to make some stitches around the Garden Green mat.

And that did it!

On the inside, I matted a piece of Whisper White card stock to another piece of Wood Textures DSP.  Then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add a second Thankful Thoughts sentiment in Real Red.  Over the top, I added a couple of “stitched” tree shapes from the Christmas Quilt stamp set in Garden Green and another silver heart Metallic Enamel Shape.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Garden Green mat and into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

I repeated the Christmas Quilt shapes in Garden Green on the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and I added some more of the Quilted Christmas DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  A Christmas-y non-Christmas card!  We all need thank you cards at this time of year, and Thankful Thoughts lends itself perfectly – especially when paired with some Quilted Christmas DSP!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

My little (or not-so-little these days!) Man is a fun guy to have on a road trip!

Mostly he sleeps…

But every once in a while, he comes to see what’s going on in the front of the truck.

And – when I get very very lucky, I can capture a doggie (that’s a dog-selfie…)…

And then, if I just keep at it, I get…

Possibly the cutest Finn-picture ever!!  Seriously – look at that face!! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Season of Whimsy & Pines for the Stamp Ink Paper #129

Hey, y’all!  Welcome to Tuesday and another fun challenge from Stamp Ink Paper!

Our Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #129 this week is a color challenge…

I pulled out the fun Host set called Season of Whimsy from the 2017 Holiday Catalog for this one and added some pine boughs from the Pretty Pines Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

This card also played along quite nicely with the FabFriday challenge this week.

I started this one with a piece of gold plaid paper from the Year of Cheer Specialty DSP matted on Cherry Cobbler card stock for the card front.  Then I cut a piece of Wood Textures DSP, matted it on Cherry Cobbler and Fast Fuse’d it to the card front.

I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the sentiment from the Season of Whimsy set in Versamark Ink, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it with my Heat Tool.

On a piece of scrap Whisper White card stock, I stamped the three Season of Whimsy ornaments in Versamark and heat embossed them in Gold.  Then I colored each of them with my Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker and fussy cut them.

I cut a bunch of Pretty Pines Thinlits pine boughs in Lemon Lime Twist and Garden Green, and a couple of Cherry Cobbler berries, too!

I built my little “scene” by adhering the pine boughs with Liquid Glue and interspersing the Season of Whimsy ornaments amongst them.  I used a couple of Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the final largest ornament.

I tied a small bow from a piece of Lemon Lime Twist 1/4″ Ombre Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  To finish things off, I added a few gold Metallic Enamel Shapes!

On the inside, I left the liner blank, simply repeating the layers on the front of the card.  I matted a piece of Year of Cheer Specialty DSP on Cherry Cobbler and, over that, Fast Fuse’d a Cherry Cobbler matted piece of Whisper White.

I Fast Fuse’d the layered panels into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Gold embossed ornament from Season of Whimsy on the front – colored with the Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Marker…

…and a little more of the Wood Textures DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  A couple of greens and some Cherry Cobbler to make a wonderful Pretty Pine-filled display of Christmas ornaments courtesy of the Season of Whimsy stamp set!  I hope you like!

Season of Whimsy is on the retiring list – so, if you love it (and why wouldn’t you??) – now’s the time to get it.  Holler at me and ask me how! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix

So – one of the fun things that happened to the Man this past weekend was meeting Lucky.

Lucky lives there in North Carolina.

Lucky and Finn hit it off immediately!  Of course, Lucky may have wished Finn had a smidge less energy – he was a bit worn out by the time the play date ended.

Hard to imagine….

really…

…airs above the ground…

This kind of play takes a toll, people.  Even on a youngster Aussie!

He said a fond adieu to Lucky and I think they made tentative plans for a re-match in the near future!  And then he climbed in the truck to recuperate!

Stampin’ Up! Hug in a Patterned Pumpkin Patch for the Stamp Ink Paper #125

So – good mornin’, y’all!  It’s Tuesday – almost the last Tuesday I’ll be in Utah.  I’ll actually admit that I’ll miss it here a little – the scenery is ridiculously gorgeous – especially when there’s some weather around!  I’m betting in the middle of July it might not be so appealing to me…

Before we get going, I wanted to share some pretty exciting (and totally and completely unexpected – heck, I wouldn’t have even looked!!) news with you.  I found out yesterday that I am ranked #107 in the US among Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and #227 in the world!  Holy Smokes – can you even believe that?!?  And – I have you guys and my wonderful Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew to thank for it!!  I so very much appreciate my customers and team – thank you thank you thank you!!! 🙂

Our Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #125 this week is a color challenge – some of my favorites!

So, since my happy-place-colors were conveniently aligned for me to use one of my very favorite bundles in the Holiday Catalog – I indulged my love of collages with the Pick a Pumpkin stamp set and Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of Cajun Craze card stock and stamped it all over – in Cajun Craze ink – with the little pumpkin from the Pick a Pumpkin stamp set.  Then I embossed it in the Layered Leaves Dynamic TIEF and matted it on Crushed Curry.

The center panel is a beautiful piece from Wooden Textures DSP, also matted on Crushed Curry, and Fast Fuse’d to the card front.

Then I started cutting and stamping!  I cut three of the large Patterned Pumpkin die cuts – one each in Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Copper Foil.  I stamped the sentiment from Hug in a Mug in Cajun Craze on a piece of Very Vanilla and adhered the Crushed Curry pumpkin to it with Liquid Glue.  Hint – you need to snip the middle two “grooves” from the die cut!

I also fussy cut some pumpkins from the Painted Autumn DSP.  A Crushed Curry “starry” Patterned Pumpkin die cut and a Pumpkin Pie-on-Crushed Curry pumpkin rounded out the patch.

I layered up the patch with some Copper Foil and Crushed Curry leaves, berries and tendrils, using Liquid Glue for all but the fussy cut pumpkin on the bottom right and the sentiment pumpkin – those are popped up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered a slew of little Crushed Curry stars (from the die cut pumpkin) here and there among the pumpkins, using Liquid Glue. The final finishing touch was a gold star Metallic Enamel Shape just above the sentiment.

On the inside, I stamped a couple of pumpkins from the Pick A Pumpkin set – one in Pumpkin Pie and one in Cajun Craze – on a Very Vanilla panel.  I stamped the large pumpkin first and then covered him with a sticky note mask before stamping the smaller guy.  I used my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker to lightly color their stems.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Crushed Curry mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Pick a Pumpkin pumpkins on the front – but I reversed them…

…and I added some more of the Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This one has just about every one of my favorite things – Fall colors, wood, and piles and gobs of goodies!!  Pick a Pumpkin and the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits – well.  Hope you’ve got them.  If not?  What are you waiting for?!?  Hope you like.

Stampin’ Up! Wood Words Stacked Crates

‘Sup, y’all!?  It’s Hawwmp Day!  And I don’t know if I’m staying – going – sitting – waiting – packing – leaving – or on terminal hold!  So…I’ll just keep getting up and going to work (or working at the hotel) and making cards.  Might should buy more food.  Might be a bad idea.  I have no clue.  Stay tuned for the continuing saga of “When will Mary go home!”  🙂

I made a fun little card today to share with you.  I made a stack of Wood Textures Wood Crates.  With some Wood Words goodies quite obviously on their way to the farmer’s market.  Take a look-see:

I played along with the Sunday Stamps challenge with this one…

…but I did a bit of a riff on the sketch – making an optically tall and skinny on a regular sized card.  Here we go!

I started with a Crumb Cake card base (of normal proportions) and I stamped the Tree Rings background image on the front in Crumb Cake ink.

Next up, I matted a piece of Very Vanilla on a Cajun Craze mat – tall and skinny – and used Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front.

I cut single pieces of the Wood Crates die from three different pieces of the Wood Textures DSP Stack, and trimmed all but the side and end tabs from each piece.  I adhered them to the card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals on the end tabs, making sure to angle each successive crate to make a stack!  In the next picture, you can see the Dimensionals and how they’re adhering the crate to the card.

Using the Wood Words stamp set, I stamped Night of Navy stars, Cajun Craze hearts and Crushed Curry chickens on Very Vanilla card stock.  I stamped 5 of each image and cut them all with their matching die in the Wood Crates Framelits.  Then I used Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals to pile them into their respective crates.

The sentiment, also from Wood Words, is stamped in Crushed Curry on a strip of Very Vanilla.  I snipped a banner end into one end, edged it with my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker, and then, along with a couple of pieces of Night of Navy 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon, adhered it to the bottom crate with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a double-strand bow with Linen Thread and added it to the top crate.  Then I put a Night of Navy star Enamel Shape in the middle of the bow, and one on the sentiment banner and the card front was done.

On the inside, I re-created the optical tall and skinny card effect.  First I stamped the inside of the card base with the Tree Rings image, again in Crumb Cake.  For the liner, I stamped the Wood Words star in Night of Navy across the bottom of a Very Vanilla panel.

I Fast Fuse’d it to a Cajun Craze mat and into the card base and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some more Night of Navy Wood Word stars on the front…

…and a little more Wood Textures DSP Stack on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think it’s fun that the Wood Crates Framelits can be adapted to work on a 2-D card front as well as making awesome 3-D projects!  And Wood Words and the Wood Textures DSP stack just go so darned perfectly with the whole shootin’ match, don’t you think?  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Friendly Orange Blossoms for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  It’s sketch week so be sure to hop thru all our blogs when you get done here and see how we all interpreted the challenge! 🙂

Speaking of – here it is:

I also played along with the Sunday Stamps color challenge…

We were to use at least 3 of the colors.  I think, using the Orange Blossom stamp set and a little bit of Wood Textures DSP that I did that.  And maybe a few more!  Take a look-see:

I started with a panel of Whisper White card stock and stamped a bunch of the pretty images from the new Orange Blossom stamp set all over it.  I used Flirty Flamingo for the large flowers – stamping it twice without re-inking.  I also used Pear Pizzazz, So Saffron, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.  Once I had it stamped all over, I matted it on Sweet Sugarplum card stock. Stampin’ Up! Layers of Lovely Daisies!

Good morning, y’all!  Did you have fun yesterday when the new catalog went live in the Online Store??  I sure did.

My credit card, on the other hand, may not be thinking it was all that much fun!  Poor little dude got a work-out!! LOL.

My card today uses a fun set that carried over into this new catalog.  It’s called Layering Love and it’s a pretty one!  I also used some of my favorite new Designer Papers from the Delightful Daisy DSP and the Wood Textures DSP Stack.  Take a look-see:

My layout is from this week’s challenge at The Paper Players:

And my color scheme is from the Global Design Project challenge.

I started with a piece of Calypso Coral design paper from the new Delightful Daisy DSP and matted it on a piece of Basic Black card stock.

The horizontal strip, also from the Delightful Daisy DSP, is next and I decorated it with the new Ticket Tear Border Punch (Available now – I love being able to say that!!).  I cut both edges with the punch and then SNAILd it to a Basic Black mat and then onto the card front.

For my sentiment, I used a piece of wood-grain paper from the Wood Textures DSP and stamped it with the sentiment from the Layering Love stamp set.  I colored the stamp directly with my Basic Black and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers.

To cut the Stitched Shapes rectangle, without an actual Stitched Shapes rectangle die, I used a square die and cut half at a time.  Line the die at the top of the sentiment, leaving the bottom portion hanging off the end of the platform and run it thru the Big Shot.  Then line up the “stitches” and repeat on the other hand.  My friend Amy did a quick video showing how to do it – which you can see right here.  🙂

With that done, I SNAILd the panel to its Basic Black mat and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a few Calypso Coral heart Enamel Shapes and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added another Ticket Tear-punched piece of the Delightful Daisy DSP, matted on Basic Black, to a Very Vanilla panel. Then I stamped the tiny heart from the Layering Love set in Calypso Coral.

I SNAILd the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Old Olive card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a few more of the Layering Love hearts in Calypso Coral on the front…

…and a little more of the Delightful Daisy DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s so easy to forget about the cool stamp sets that were in previous catalogs, what with the advent of all the new and exciting goodies!  But this is a great set, with really pretty sentiments in beautiful fonts!  And – of course – the paper.  The PAPER!!  Goodness me – so darned pretty!!!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! One Big Meaning And Wood Words Patriotic Thank You!

Good morning!  Welcome back to work – at least it’s only a four day work week!  But there’s a lot going on Stampin’ Up!-wise in that four days!  Check it out:

  • My Stamps-N-Lingers 2017-2019 In Colors Bundle Sale ends tomorrow afternoon.
  • The Eastern Palace Bundles sale (Starter or Premium) ends tomorrow afternoon!
  • Your chance to buy an Annual Catalog Share ends tonight!
  • You still an opportunity to get your name into the Jul-Dec Online Host Club!
  • And – OBTW – the new Annual Catalog goes LIVE at 3pm Mountain Time on Thursday!!

Wheew!!  That’s a lotta stuff to pack into a few short days, huh??  There’s a lot of detail and information down below, so be sure to check it all out and take advantage of some great deals happening this week!

Now – on to the card for today.  I promised that I’d share the details and how-to’s on the Memorial Day thank you card that I gave you a glimpse of on yesterday’s post.  It uses the One Great Meaning stamp set, as well as the Wood Words stamp set and coordinating Wood Textures DSP Stack (available Thursday!).  Take a reminder look-see:

I started with a piece of dark wood paper from the Wood Textures DSP Stack and matted it on Cajun Craze card stock.  The center layer, with the sentiment, is another piece of the Wood Textures paper, also matted on Cajun Craze.

To make my sentiment, I first inked the little star cluster image from the Wood Words stamp set in Versamark and stamped it in the corner of the panel.  Then I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.

I stamped the very appropriate sentiment from One Big Meaning in Cajun Craze in the middle of the panel, then SNAILd it to its Cajun Craze mat and onto the card front.

I wrapped a piece of the new 1/4″ Copper Trim around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

The stars are from an image in the Wood Words stamp set.  I stamped it once in Versamark and heat embossed it in Copper.  The other two, I stamped in Dapper Denim and Cajun Craze – then sprinkled them with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated them up.  This is a cool way to emboss in any color – just be sure to have a moist ink pad, have your embossing powder ready to go and move a little quickly – and the powder will stick just fine.

I fussy cut the stars and ran my Stylus on the back of each arm of all three stars to make them more dimensional.  Then I adhered each star with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  To finish it all off, I adhered a bow from the 1/4″ Copper Trim with a Glue Dot.

On the inside, I repeated the Copper embossing of the Wood Words cluster of stars in the top corner of a Whisper White panel.  I also added a Dapper Denim and Cajun Craze larger star.

I SNAILd the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Dapper Denim and Cajun Craze star on the front…

...and some more of the dark wood paper from the Wood Textures DSP Stack on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the Americana vintage feel of this patriotic card, don’t you?  One Big Meaning is a wonderful stamp set filled with sentiments to express your gratitude.  And the new Wood Words stamp set goes perfectly with the Wood Textures DSP!  One Big Meaning is available now, and the Wood Words goodies are both going to be available on Thursday afternoon!!  Hope you like and already have these on your wish list!

Finn-Fan Fix…

On Memorial Day, we went over to our friend’s house for dinner.

That’s where Finn’s sister, Scout, lives.

He was sooooo excited to see her!!

His wiggler wiggled.

His barker barked!

His lips grinned.

His boigers boinged!

Finally, they were able to settle down enough for a family portrait.

The little brother has outgrown his older sister, hasn’t he?

Aren’t they pretty pair!?

Stampin’ Up! Better Together With Sunshine Wishes

Mornin’, y’all!  Hope your week is going well!

Before we get to the card – let me remind you of the Ordering Special I’ve got going on right now.  I’ve put some info down below – bottom line:  you’ve got until Monday, 8 May to cash in by ordering the Premier Eastern Palace Bundle thru my Online Store!

So my card for today is another sympathy card – this time for a friend of my friends’ parents.  He recently lost his Jack Russel Terrier.  I don’t know much about the gentleman, but I suspect he lived alone with his dog in the retirement community.  So – doubly sad.  And it meant I needed a card masculine enough to suit a man, but sentimental enough to suit the occasion.

Now – I don’t have a stamp for every breed of dog, so I can’t completely personalize a card.  But, I pulled out the sleeping dog in the Sitting Here stamp set, combined it with a little bit of Sunshine Wishes die cuts and new Wood Textures DSP.  The Better Together stamp set lent the sentiments.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of the Wood Textures DSP Stack paper and, using the sleeping dog image in the Sitting Here stamp set, I stamped the dog all over the panel in Soft Suede ink that I stamped off once on scrap paper before I stamped the panel.

One might say it was…ghosted.

Bad form, Mary.  Bad form.

Then I inked up the sentiment from Better Together with Versamark Ink and, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position it, stamped it in the bottom corner.  I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.

I used the heart die in the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set to cut a heart from a piece of white-washed DSP in the Wood Textures stack and one from Copper Foil.

Next I made my embellishment from a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and one of new 1/4″ Copper Trim (avail 1 June).  I folded both pieces over once, layered the Copper Trim on the Burlap and stapled them together with my Handheld Stapler.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the ribbons to the panel.

I used more Liquid Glue to adhere my two Sunshine Wishes hearts to the panel over the ribbon.  Finally, I made a small bow from the 1/4″ Copper Trim and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  I SNAILd the panel to a Copper Foil mat and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used a piece of the whitewashed paper in the Wood Textures Stack as my inner liner, stamping a second sentiment from Better Together in Soft Suede in the middle.  Down in the corner, I stamped my Sitting Here dog in Chocolate Chip, covered him with a sticky note mask that I’d carefully stored in my stamp case for just such an occasion, and stamped his dog bed over top with Soft Suede.  I used my Sahara Sand and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers to color the bed, and added some JRT-like spots on the dog with my Soft Suede Marker.

I SNAILd the panel to my Copper Foil Mat and into my….no.  Wait.  What I did next was use my Heat Tool to loosen up the SNAIL so I could pull the panel off the mat.  Cuz….I’d made a portrait inner liner for my landscape card. 👀

I pulled it off, re-did the inner liner (the right way this time!), SNAILd it to it’s Copper Foil mat and into a Tranquil Tide card base (avail right now in the Eastern Palace Premier Bundle!!).  Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got my Sitting Here JRT-like dog on the front…

…and I added a bit more of the whitewash Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think – hope! – this will fill the bill.  I discovered that a card to express sympathy for the loss of pet – for a MAN – is a lot harder than I expected.  Hope he likes it – and I hope you like it, too!

Finn-Fan Fix…

I’m pretty sure he’s checking that Bo’s stall is latched.

Or he’s asking him “Why the long face?”

Either is equally plausible. 😏
