Stampin’ Up! Lovely As A Tree Sunset Thanks

Mornin’, y’all!  Happy weekend!

I’ve made a card for you today with one of my favorite stamp sets – the Lovely As A Tree set.  I mean, really, what’s not to love about this beautiful set?  I put the trees against a sponged background, then added a sentiment from All Things Thanks.  Take a look-see:

For those of you who were watching last Sunday, you might recognize this card front?  Since I showed you how to do it on the video, I won’t go into a lot of explanation,  You can just fast forward this video (to about the 27:50 point in the video) and watch me make it!

I mentioned in the video that I’d seen a sunset here at the house that inspired the picture.  Here ’tis!

So – I started with a Very Vanilla panel and masked off the rectangle with Washi Tape.  I sponged the sunset in Peekaboo Peach, So Saffron, Pool Party and Marina Mist.  Then I carefully peeled up the Washi Tape.

I used my Stamparatus to add the Lovely As A Tree image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  I did that to be sure I could stamp a couple of times if needed to get the image as dark as I wanted it.

For the sentiment, I borrowed from the All Things Thanks stamp set and used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get it where I wanted it.  I inked up just the word Thanks with my Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker and added it to the card front.

With my Journaling Pen, I added little dots here and there around the sentiment.  Then I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat.

I added a length of Night of Navy 3/8″ Corduroy Ribbon, securing it in the back with Fast Fuse.  This card is going to a couple – but mostly to the man, so…I made myself stop there!

On the inside, I inked the second part of the sentiment with my Night of Navy Marker and, again with my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped it on a Very Vanilla panel.  I added some more Journaling Pen dots, then I inked up the trees image in Tuxedo Black again, stamped it off twice, and stamped it over the sentiment.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

On the front of my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I added more of the trees in Tuxedo Black…

…and then I added them one last time on the back, across the edge of the flap.

Et Voila!  I don’t care how old this stamp set is – or gets!  It will always be one of my very favorite of all time.  It’s just so classic and gorgeous!  And All Things Thanks is a super good thank-you sentiment set to always have on hand!  Hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix

Finn-y and I end all our days pretty much the same way.

After we finish up with the horses and take our last walk, I take a shower.

Finn gets in some pre-sleeping.

Then I get in bed and type up my blog post for the next morning.

Finn further perfects his pre-sleeping technique.

Once I’m done, I get up to put the computer on the charger and set the coffee for morning.  And rouse Finn for one last quick sortie outside.

Only the other night – he’d skipped both phases of pre-sleeping and gone directly to full-up-all-out-legs-akimbo night-sleeping.

I, heeding the adage about letting night-sleeping-dogs-lie…closed the kennel door and called it a night.

Now.  I’m pretty sure he moved in the night.  I think I remember feeling him bumping around at the end of the bed.

But – you’d for sure never know it.  This is what I found at 530 the next morning.

Apparently, this is his very favorite position!

It’s certainly his very cutest position, I’d say!

Stampin’ Up! Lovely as Trees and Thoughtful Prayers on Black Ice for Stamp Ink Paper #141

Good morning, y’all!  Happy Tuesday!

Being Tuesday, it’s time for another Stamp Ink Paper challenge – and this week it’s a sketch challenge!

I used a fun technique that I recently came across called the Black Ice technique.  I did it on Copper Foil, using the Lovely as a Tree pine image and a sentiment from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Cool, huh?  Looks like an icy-rain! Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Layers Glamper Greetings

Hey, y’all!  Guess what day it is?

No, silly – not Hawwmp Day (thank goodness!) – it’s FRIDAY!!  I say again – thank GOODNESS!!! 🙂

This Sunday is our local All Things Stamping Sale.  Maybe – maybe! – I’ll have everything priced and in some sort of semblance of order and have some sort of shot at getting it all there and set up.  Be thinking good thoughts, y’all!!  I’ll need ’em!

My card for today is the result of another request from my Mom – I like requests.  It helps give me a focus and I need as much focus as I can get these days!  Her friend is leaving soon for vacation.  She’s going hiking and rafting in North India!!

Wow.

So – my mom wanted a card to wish her happy and safe travels.  I immediately thought of the Glamper Greetings stamp set – and went off in a bit of a rabbit hole.  I was determined to use the camper – I finally realized I was trying to force that, and quit.  The card got a lot easier right quick after that!  And I thought the adirondack chair in Seasonal Layers would be cool, too.  And then I saw a fun video from Patty Bennet doing a Glossy Paper “Faux Torn Edge” technique – and I knew what I needed to do.  You can see that video right here – check it – it’s great!  When I put it all together, here’s what I got.  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired – sort of loosely! – on the challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.  Turn your computer on its side…you’ll see it! Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Wood Textures and Trees for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop!

Mornin’, y’all!  Welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop!  This month, our theme is “Father’s Day or Masculine”.  I’m looking forward to seeing what all our talented ladies come up with – and hope you’ll spend some time exploring the hop when you’re done here!

I opted for a thank you card for our dog-trainer friend who helped me out with Finn last week!  He came over and essentially did almost 2 hours of private lesson/training with us, and then wouldn’t let us pay him a dime.  So…I figured a good handmade card – with an outdoorsy theme – would be just the thing.  I used some Lovely as a Tree images, with a little Woodland TIEF and Thankful Thoughts sentiments, on top of some new Wood Textures DSP.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of the new (coming on 1 June) Wood Textures DSP and matted it on Crushed Curry for the card front.  The middle panel is Very Vanilla and I stamped the pine tree from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set in Always Artichoke.  I stamped it once and then again without re-inking, then inked up again for the third image.  Then I sponged the edges of the panel with some more Always Artichoke.

I SNAILd it to a Crushed Curry mat and then onto the card front.

For the small square, I ran a little square of Copper Foil thru the Big Shot in the Woodland TIEF, matted it on Crushed Curry and then SNAILd it to the card front.

For a little bit of oomph, I wrapped a piece of the new 1/4″ Copper Trim (1 June) around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

I stamped a sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts set in Always Artichoke on a strip of Very Vanilla card stock.  I made banner ends with my Paper Snips, edged it with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish off the card front, I tied a bow with two lengths of 1/4″ Copper Trim and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

The inside of the card started with a Very Vanilla panel.  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped another Lovely as a Tree pine in Always Artichoke.  I stamped it off three times before stamping my panel.  Then I added a second Thankful Thoughts sentiment in Always Artichoke, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position it where I needed it.

I SNAILd the panel onto a Crushed Curry mat and into my Always Artichoke card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a couple more Lovely as a Tree pines – I stamped it twice without re-inking, and then added some “ground” with my Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Marker…

…and then I added a little more of the Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think this will be perfect for a man who spends most of his life in the great outdoors with his dogs, don’t you?  And – I think it shows yet another way that the Wood Textures DSP is going to be a wild crowd favorite this SU! year!!  Hope you like!
