Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Sympathy for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  It’s color week (and it was kind of a doozy – at least for me!) and I know all our ladies have made some beautiful projects for you.  Y’all be sure to hop thru all their blogs when you get done here! 🙂

Here’s our colors….

I have, unfortunately, a need for a Sympathy Card, so I decided to make one with these colors.  I used the pretty sentiments from the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set, a little bit of Awesomely Artistic and You’ve Got This for some textures, and some pretty flowers from the Jar of Love stamp set and matching Everyday Jars Framelits.  Take a look-see:

In addition to our colors, I borrowed a layout idea from the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge this week.

This one took me a while to get going – I just couldn’t get my brain around the color combination.  So I just started playing with background and textures.  I ended up with a Very Vanilla panel that I stamped using the burlap-y image from the You’ve Got This stamp set in Pool Party.  Over that, I used the splotches image in the Awesomely Artistic stamp set – also in Pool Party.

I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat – it appears I’m having a bit of an obsession with smaller card fronts and wider “frames” this week!

I took a length of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim and one of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and adhered them across the card front with some Liquid Glue – making sure they extended past the edges of the panel.

My sentiment, from the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set, I stamped on some Very Vanilla, using the marker-to-stamp technique.  It’s a little sporty with a photopolymer stamp, so I ended up having to touch up the stamped image with my Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I cut the sentiment with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit and matted it on a scalloped oval mat in Old Olive.  I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue to adhere it over the ribbons.

My flowers and stems are all from the Jar of Love and matching Everyday Jars Framelits.  I cut Old Olive leaves/stems (three of them) and adhered them together like a bouquet with a Glue Dot.  Then I stamped some small flowers from Jar of Love.  These are two-step images.  I did the first step in stamped-off-once and stamped-off-twice Rich Razzleberry with the second step image stamped off one less time.  Does that make sense?  I also did a few in Pool Party,  Then I cut them all out and adhered them in the bouquet with Liquid Glue.  Just cuz I have them and think they’re pretty, I added a Pearl Basic Jewels Embellishment to each flower.  And I “dotted the i” with one, too! 🙂

I took about length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and pulled out a few threads, which I wrapped around the stems with a Glue Dot to hold it on,  Then I tied a simple knot with a few more strands and adhered it over the top with yet another Glue Dot.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the bouquet to the card and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Heartfelt Sympathy to a Very Vanilla panel, again using the marker-to-stamp coloring technique.  Then I added a little sprig of Old Olive leaves – also from Heartfelt Sympathy.

I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Basic Black card base, SNAILd the card front on – and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the little Old Olive sprigs from Heartfelt Sympathy across the front…

…and more Pool Party burlap and splotches from Awesomely Artistic and You’ve Got This on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I see no reason a Sympathy card can’t be pretty – perhaps that’s a card that needs to bring a smile more than any other kind, yes?  I think the fonts are so pretty in Heartfelt Sympathy and I love all the textures options we have these days – Awesomely Artistic and You’ve Got This are just a couple!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Jar of Love Colorful Seasons Sneak Peek

Mornin’, y’all!  Happy Monday!  Hope your week has gotten off to a good start.

Last night I did a Facebook Live video to demonstrate the card I’m sharing with you today (I’ve included a link to it down below if you’re interested!).  I used the new Colorful Seasons stamp set with the bundled Seasonal Layers Thinlits (both available 1 June) and a little bit of Jar of Love and Everyday Jars (available right now!).  Throw in a touch of Wood Textures DSP (1 June), and…take a look-see:

I used the inspiration photo at Just Us Girls this week to inspire many of the elements of this card.

To start off, I embossed a Very Vanilla panel in the Sparkle TIEF and matted it on a piece of new Lemon-Lime Twist card stock (avail 1 June).

On the middle Very Vanilla panel, I stamped just the word “Breathe” from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, in Berry Burst Ink (also avail 1 June).

Using a piece of Wood Textures DSP, I cut the adirondack chair using the cool die in the Seasonal Thinlits die set and adhered it to the panel with a little Liquid Glue.  I stamped the tall glass image in Berry Burst (just the glass portion – it’s photopolymer so it’s easy to just ink part of the image) and cut it with the matching die.  Then I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker to add a straw and popped it on with a piece of a Stampin’ Dimensional.

My flowers are all from the Jar of Love stamp set – I stamped a bunch of them in Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo and cut them with the matching die from the Everyday Jars Framelits.  I also cut two of the leaves/stems from Lemon-Lime Twist and then cut a few short pieces from them.

I stuck the leaves on the panel with Liquid Glue, and then added flowers with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I Fast Fuse’d a Lemon-Lime Twist mat to the card front, and then popped the completed sentiment panel over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  A little seed Pearl Basic Jewels Embellishment in each little flower center finished off the card front.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Colorful Seasons in Berry Burst on a Very Vanilla panel and then added a few flowers from Jar of Love in Daffodil Delight, Peekaboo Peach and Flirty Flamingo.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Lemon-Lime Twist mat and into a Very Vanilla Thick card base (avail 1 June), popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the Jar of Love flowers on the front…

…and I embossed the envelope flap in the Sparkle TIEF!

Et Voila!  How cool is that adirondack chair from the Seasonal Layers thinlits – especially when cut from some Wood Textures DSP!  And I just love the sentiments and images in the Colorful Seasons stamp set.  I hope you like and are adding them to your wish list!

If you’d like to check out the video…here ’tis!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the products you’ll need to make this one for yourself!

Y’all have a super day and I’ll see you tomorrow! 🙂

Finn-Fan Fix…

Yesterday was Finn’s first day at Obedience School.

As we all expected…he was a star!!

Of course, he’s in a class with a 14 week old Boxer puppy (who will seriously give the Finn-ster a run for his money in the “CUTE CUTE CUTE” department!!), a 7 month old German Shepherd who is, unfortunately, in charge of both her parents, and a 4 year old German Shepherd who also has a bit of the wool pulled over his mom’s eyes.

So – the competition wasn’t stiff, y’all.

But.  Of them all – here’s how Finn decided it was best to wait for class to start.

Just chillin’.  Waiting for the teacher to come tell him he’s going to be the pet.

She used us as the example of what to do right all the way thru the class.

She did ask me at the end….now, why are you here again!?!?

Yea.  He was that good.

But then – we all knew it would be so, didn’t we?!?

Stampin’ Up! Jar of Cheer and Pines!

Welcome to Monday, y’all!  I sure hope your weekend was wonderful and that you got all your Christmas cards mailed and your gifts wrapped and your baking done.

Just like I did.

ROFLMHO!!

I wish I got all those things done this weekend.  Here’s what I did get done:

christmas-tree
With actual ornaments!  Last year, I got home so close to Christmas that all we did was put the tree up.  Which is really all I need – I love the white lights even all by themselves!  But…I must say it’s always fun to pull out the ornaments and see the ones that we’ve gathered up together over the years.

Finn was….gobsmacked!

He was outside doing important dog work when we put it up.  He came flying around the corner – he pretty much flies everywhere – and came to an abrupt and skidding stop when he saw the lit tree!  He really didn’t know what to think of it! 🙂

I’m sure he’ll figure out that he’s supposed to raid the tree and take ornaments off of it – he’s smart that way!

My card for today uses the pretty Jar of Cheer stamp set – on the retiring list, so grab it while you can if you don’t have it already – and my favorite embossing folder ever…the Pine Bough TIEF.  I sure hope Stampin’ Up! changes their mind about retiring this one. 🙁  I also added a few Pretty Pines embellishments.  Take a look-see:

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-4-stamps-n-lingers
This one played along with a few challenges.  The first, from CAS(E) This Sketch, informed the layout.

cts-201-sketch
The color palette hails from this week’s challenge at The Paper Players:

pp325-sketch
Just Us Girls had a Trend Week challenge:

jugs-373-sketch
Finally, I was inspired by the beautiful picture in the Fusion – It’s Christmas challenge.

fusion-its-christmas-sketch
Whew! 🙂

So.  I started by running a Whisper White panel thru the Big Shot twice in the Pine Bough TIEF.  Then I brushed all the embossed images with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for a little shine.  I SNAILd it on a Silver Foil mat.

My jar – from Jar of Cheer – began when I heat embossed the candle image in Gold.  Then, around that, I heat embossed the jar and “threads” in Silver.  Finally, I cut it out with the matching die from the Everyday Jars Framelits.

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-1-stamps-n-lingers
I colored the flame and leaves with my Gold Wink of Stella Glitter Brush and the candle itself and berries with my Clear Wink.  I wrapped some Gold Baker’s Twine around the top of the jar, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I popped the jar on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits – I cut one from Gold Foil and two from Whisper White, and used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to stack them up – and to adhere it on the card front.

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-3-stamps-n-lingers
I cut two short pine boughs from Gold Foil using the die from the Pretty Pines Thinlits, and a pine cone from Silver Foil.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the top of the jar.  A small Gold Baker’s Twine bow, adhered with a little more Liquid Glue, finished off the card front.

On the inside, I heat embossed a sentiment from Jar of Cheer in Gold on a Whisper White panel.

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd it to Silver Foil and then into my Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I heat embossed another Jar of Cheer candle in Gold on the front, coloring it with my Gold and Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brushes…

jar-of-cheer-and-pines-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and I ran the envelope flap thru the Big Shot in the Pine Bough TIEF and brushed the embossed image with the Clear Wink of Stella.

Et Voila!  Silver, Gold and White candle-in-a-pine-embellished-jar-of-cheer for Christmas.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Sneak Peek – Jar of Haunts Happy Halloween!

Good morning, y’all – it’s Tuesday and I have a confession to make.  This may come as a shocker.

I sometimes overthink my cards.

Yes – it’s true.  I especially do this when I’ve spent the day doing all sorts of things that have nothing to do with making cards.  Today – well, Monday – I moved furniture around in my living room.  And laundered the dog-bed-turned-cat-bed.  And vacuumed.  And set up another table to make a photo-booth area.  And talked on the phone with work.  And with Wayne.  Reset the clocks on the cat feeders.  Scrubbed spots on the carpet.

The end result of all this spinning was that I started thinking about a card for today – Tuesday – at 5:30.  That’s pretty late for me.  The lateness just makes me hurry and make mistakes.  And – overthink every little piece. 😉

I did have a sketch to work from, so that helped.  And I did know I wanted to do a non-Christmas card.  I figured Fall or Halloween.  So I pulled out the new Jar of Haunts stamp set – which coordinates so nicely with the Everyday Jars Framelits!

Jar of Cheer and Haunts - Stamps-N-Lingers
There are two stamp sets in the new 2016 Holiday Catalog that work wth Everyday Jars – cool, huh? 🙂

So – I used Jar of Haunts and some Halloween Nights DSP, and this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Timeless Penned & Painted Jar of Love

It’s FRIIIIIDDDAAAAAAY.  Which means just gotta get thru this one last day and wake up and go home tomorrow!

Right after I schlep all my stuff into my car in the morning.  Bleh! 🙁  But….HOME!!! 🙂

I’m pretty sure when I get there, and “accidentally” call Duck Duck, she’ll come flying waddling home just as fast as her little orange web-footed legs will carry her!

Or not.

Guess we’ll see, huh?

I have a card to share today that’s a sort-of-CASE from a project I saw on Pinterest, from Anja at Ophelia Crafts!  I did put a little of my own spin on it, but I sure did glean some good ideas from her project!  Check it here if you get a shot!  I used the pretty Penned and Painted stamp set to work with the Jar of Love and Everyday Jars bundle.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Jar of Love Thanks

Hey, y’all!  Happy weekend – I hope you’re getting ready to do something fun.

Like….go see the new Star Trek movie?? 😉  I think (think!) I’m going to wait until I get home next weekend and go see it with Wayne.   But – there’s nothing that says I can’t see it twice, right?!? 😉

I’ve got a little card here today that I made with the Jar of Love stamp set.  Which I think is awesome.

Except for one image/sentiment.  And that one is a little…problematic.

At least it is for a woman living in the South.

Do you know which one I mean?

“Bless Your Heart”.

Now….in parts of the world above the Mason-Dixon line and west of the mighty Mississippi – that’s a very nice way to show your appreciation for someone.

Not so much down this-a-way!  Down here…it’s kind of what we say instead of….well.  You know!

So – what do I do?  I want to use that sentiment – I really like it (the face-value meaning, not the South’s double meaning!).  But…what if I inadvertently sent it to someone who knows what that means in the south??  Will they think I’m telling them to…well.  You know.

Whatcha think?? 🙂

Needless to say, I didn’t use that one in today’s card.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Swirly Jars of Love for the Happy Stampers Blog Hop

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  We have a fun sketch and I’m excited to share my card with you today – as are all the ladies who put their crafty talents to the challenge!  I hope you’ll take the time to check them all out when you’re done here! 🙂

Before we get started, though – I do want to remind you that Stampin’ Up! Bonus Days start today. 🙂  You can scroll down to the bottom of this post to get all the details!

Okay – on to the card….I mentioned that we all used a fun sketch for our shares today.  This is what it looks like:

July 7 - 2016
When I saw this sketch, I kind of immediately thought that a doily would be a great element to use for the large circle.  Well – “immediately” after I was trying to figure out how big a hole to cut in the rectangle to make the small circle.  And what stamped image would fit in said small cut out circle!  After making my brain hurt for a minute, I gave up on that particular thought and went back to my doily idea.  I grabbed some Floral Boutique DSP and my go-to dies – the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits.  Then I added some florals from the Jar of Love and Everyday Jars Framelits.  And this is what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Swirly Jars of Love 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers
I fell back on a classic color combo here:  Night of Navy, Whisper White and Pink Pirouette.  Hard to miss with that one, heh?

To begin, I SNAILd a piece of Floral Boutique DSP to a Night of Navy mat.  Well, actually two – the card front (polka dot) and the small rectangle (stripes).  I pulled out one of the new Delicate White Doilies and used a little bit of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front – wrapping it slightly around to the back of the panel. Stampin’ Up! Everyday Jars and Jars of Thanks!

Hey ya’ll – exciting news!  This card was selected as a Design Team Pick over at Can You CASE It!!  Whoo-hoo!  Thanks to all the ladies at CYCI – and thanks to Kim for selecting my card.  You can click here to see all the winning picks!! 🙂

—————————

Monday again, heh?  Once again, the weekend has flown by and we’re back in the work week.  At least this one will count us down to – for a lot of us! – a three day weekend!  I know it’s bad to wish your life away, but…three days off is always worth a “Yeah”!

So, my card for today uses one of my favorite new bundles – the Jar of Love bundle.  With that one, you get the Jar of Love Photopolymer stamp set and the coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.  And boy do you get a lot of images and sentiments and fun things to cut out when you buy this bundle!  So many ways to use it and so many fun projects to make.  I paired the bundle with a few of the dies in the Flourish Thinlits set.  Take a look-see:

This card played along with three challenges today.  The first, Pals Paper Arts #306, drove the layout. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Seaside Shore Jar of Love

UPDATE 28 Jun 16:  Hey folks – I just found out that this card was selected as a Hand Stamped Sentiments Artist Pick!  Whoo-hoo – and thanks to all the greta designers at HSS for selecting my card! 🙂  You can see the other winners right here!

Good Friday morning to y’all!  I hope your week has gone well and that you’ve got fun plans for the weekend!  Don’t be forgetting that Father’s Day is Sunday!

So this morning – Thursday morning that is! – I was sitting in the kitchen working on the computer and out of the corner of my eye I saw something sort of gallop by down below – right by the pond.  I glanced over and there was a small brown dog, kind of romping and stopping to smell the grass.  I jumped up and called Wayne – and we looked to see whose little dog was out there.

And then.  We realized.  It wasn’t a dog.  It was a FAWN!!  A teeny, tiny, spotty-bodied little fawn!  And just a little ways further up the pond was Mom.  And her TWIN!!  Oh.  My.  Goodness.

IMG_2735

That’s them – the kids are getting a quick snack there.  That would be the world’s worst picture – hopefully we’ll see them again soon and I can get a better picture of them.  They’re just so stinkin’ cute!! 🙂

This is the first set of babies we’ve seen this year, so that was really exciting for us!

Anywho….card.  I made this fun little shaker card using the new Jar of Love stamp set and its coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.  I added some Seaside Shore and a touch of Swirly Scribbles Thinlits die cuts.  Take a look-see:

Seaside Shore Jar of Love 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This card managed to play along with three challenges.  The first inspired the layout, the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #241: Continue reading
