Stampin’ Up! Heartfelt Sympathy for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  It’s color week (and it was kind of a doozy – at least for me!) and I know all our ladies have made some beautiful projects for you.  Y’all be sure to hop thru all their blogs when you get done here! 🙂

Here’s our colors….

I have, unfortunately, a need for a Sympathy Card, so I decided to make one with these colors.  I used the pretty sentiments from the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set, a little bit of Awesomely Artistic and You’ve Got This for some textures, and some pretty flowers from the Jar of Love stamp set and matching Everyday Jars Framelits.  Take a look-see:

In addition to our colors, I borrowed a layout idea from the Hand Stamped Sentiments challenge this week.

This one took me a while to get going – I just couldn’t get my brain around the color combination.  So I just started playing with background and textures.  I ended up with a Very Vanilla panel that I stamped using the burlap-y image from the You’ve Got This stamp set in Pool Party.  Over that, I used the splotches image in the Awesomely Artistic stamp set – also in Pool Party.

I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat – it appears I’m having a bit of an obsession with smaller card fronts and wider “frames” this week!

I took a length of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim and one of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and adhered them across the card front with some Liquid Glue – making sure they extended past the edges of the panel.

My sentiment, from the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set, I stamped on some Very Vanilla, using the marker-to-stamp technique.  It’s a little sporty with a photopolymer stamp, so I ended up having to touch up the stamped image with my Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I cut the sentiment with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit and matted it on a scalloped oval mat in Old Olive.  I used some Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue to adhere it over the ribbons.

My flowers and stems are all from the Jar of Love and matching Everyday Jars Framelits.  I cut Old Olive leaves/stems (three of them) and adhered them together like a bouquet with a Glue Dot.  Then I stamped some small flowers from Jar of Love.  These are two-step images.  I did the first step in stamped-off-once and stamped-off-twice Rich Razzleberry with the second step image stamped off one less time.  Does that make sense?  I also did a few in Pool Party,  Then I cut them all out and adhered them in the bouquet with Liquid Glue.  Just cuz I have them and think they’re pretty, I added a Pearl Basic Jewels Embellishment to each flower.  And I “dotted the i” with one, too! 🙂

I took about length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and pulled out a few threads, which I wrapped around the stems with a Glue Dot to hold it on,  Then I tied a simple knot with a few more strands and adhered it over the top with yet another Glue Dot.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the bouquet to the card and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Heartfelt Sympathy to a Very Vanilla panel, again using the marker-to-stamp coloring technique.  Then I added a little sprig of Old Olive leaves – also from Heartfelt Sympathy.

I SNAILd the panel to an Old Olive mat and into my Basic Black card base, SNAILd the card front on – and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the little Old Olive sprigs from Heartfelt Sympathy across the front…

…and more Pool Party burlap and splotches from Awesomely Artistic and You’ve Got This on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I see no reason a Sympathy card can’t be pretty – perhaps that’s a card that needs to bring a smile more than any other kind, yes?  I think the fonts are so pretty in Heartfelt Sympathy and I love all the textures options we have these days – Awesomely Artistic and You’ve Got This are just a couple!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Awesome, Artistic Dragonflies for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

15822762_10211923272945503_223384966683691578_n

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We’ve got a fun little sketch to play with today.  So check my project out and then take a hop thru the other ladies’ blogs, okay?

Here’s the sketch we all worked with today.

I decided to use a little of this and a little of that, and settled on the Awesomely Artistic and All Things Thanks stamp sets.  And a bold Detailed Dragonfly die cut on the front.  Take a look-see:

Ahhh – you see that, do you?  Some Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper?  The sold out stuff?  If only someone was offering a chance to win some… 😉

I started with a piece of Succulent Garden DSP.  First off, I used the pretty floral image from Awesomely Artistic and stamped that a time or two in Tip Top Taupe on the top half of the paper.  I put a couple of sticky notes across the paper to protect the bottom half.  Then I added a few of the splotch images around the flowers – stamping it off a couple of times before stamping the panel.

Next up was a trip thru the Big Shot, with the bottom half of the panel in the Fluttering Textures Impressions Embossing Folder.

When it came out of the folder, I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and covered the “seam” between the embossed and un-embossed halves of the panel with a length of Sweet Sugarplum ribbon from the Occasions Catalog Succulent Garden 3/8″ Ribbon Combo Pack, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

My sentiment is from All Things Thanks and is stamped in Tip Top Taupe on a Sweet Sugarplum circle cut with my Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I adhered it to a Lace Doily (white side up) and then used Glue Dots on the back to loop Linen Thread and Gold Metallic Thread around and around.  Then I popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My dragonfly is cut with the Detailed Dragonflies Thinlits.  I cut the solid dragonfly from Mint Macaron card stock and the detailed piece from Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper (blog candy….).  I adhered them together with Liquid Glue, then adhered him with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals (under the wing tips).  I added one Pearl Basic Jewel Embellishment to the sentiment and…that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I added more florals and splotches from Awesomely Artistic in Tip Top Taupe.  I stamped all the images off once and then sometimes even stamped a second time on the panel without re-inking.  I also added a dragonfly from Awesomely Artistic in Mint Macaron – full strength in the bottom corner and stamped-off-once in the top.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into my Tip Top Taupe card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Awesomely Artistic images on the front…

…and a little more Succulent Garden DSP on the envelope flap.  And – cuz I could! – I added the pretty floral image from Awesomely Artistic in full strength Tip Top Taupe.

Et Voila!  Awesomely Artistic is a beautiful stamp set from the Annual Catalog that seems to dovetail nicely with the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits, doesn’t it?  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic Layered Love Easel

Happy Friday!  And happy it truly is – cuz I’m at the hotel, jus’ sleepin’ in ma bed!  At least I hope I am – or at least laying in it doing a bunch of nothing!  This has been a….loooooonnnggg week, y’all – and I’m flat tuckered.  This long weekend has been the beacon of hope – the light at the end of the first part of the tunnel.  Four beautiful days off.  Oh.  My.  Goodness. 😉

This card for today is another easel card.  I apologize for the quick duplication – but…my friend here asked me for a card (short notice!) for his wife.  He/they are moving across the country and she’s leaving her teaching job in CA.  He wanted a card to give her.  When I ask him what he wanted to say…he kind of looked blank.  After some prompting, he wants to tell her that he loves her and that he’s grateful for all she does.

Awwww.  That’s totally sweet – even if he needed a little “help” to get there!  Yea – he vacuums and cleans the house, too – he’s one of the good guys!  So, I really wanted it to be special for him and be a bit of a “wow” card – so the easel card made sense to me.  And since it’s so easy…well.  It was a no-brainer.

I also had the perfect sentiment in mind – from the new (it’s almost here, folks!  Wednesday!!) stamp set called Layered Love.  And One Big Meaning also has a great sentiment.  I pulled Awesomely Artistic for the beautiful images.  Take a look-see:

Awesomely Artisitc Layered Love 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

So – the easel is just a secondary piece of the card!  The Awesomely Artistic flowers definitely take front and center. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! A Nice Cuppa and a Love & Affection Sneak Peek!

Good morning to y’all – it’s Monday again!  I’m two days from heading out on the next trip.  This one I get to drive to, so my list of things to take (can you say every comfort of home?  Well, except the kitties.  They emphatically declined the invitation! 🙂 ) is long!  And to say that I’ll have nearly every SU! thing I own….well.  You know that’s true!  I’m trying to keep from talking myself into taking my Stamp-N-Storage ink pad combo holder!  It would be sooo nice to have there….  what do you guys think?? 🙂

My share for today is a Mother’s Day card.  Since that’s like…tomorrow! 🙂  I used a little old (retiring) and a little new (not yet available).  A Nice Cuppa – and its matching Framelits are leaving us soon – so…get them while they last!  And, for my paper I dove into my Playful Palette DSP Stack.  Finally, I grabbed a sentiment from the Love & Affection stamp set in the upcoming catalog.  Oh, and a little Awesomely Artistic for good measure!  Take a look-see:

A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Guess I might not have mentioned the Botanical Builder Framelits?

I played along with two challenges for this one.  The first, for the layout design, is Freshly Made Sketches #233:

FMS 233 Sketch

The second was a Theme sketch – TGIF Challenge #52!

TGIFC52 Sketch

I started out by SNAILing a piece of the coming-soon Playful Palette DSP stack to a mat of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I got a little creative with the round element of the sketch, choosing to use a teacup shape from the Cups & Kettle Framelits, which I cut from a piece of Birthday Bouquet DSP.  I SNAILd it to the card front and added my horizontal elements.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I laid a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon across the panel and then wrapped that with a piece of Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon (this is retired, but you can snag it right now in the Clearance Rack!).  I added a layer of Pink Pirouette 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon (retiring soon!) and then a triple wrap of Metallic Gold Baker’s twine (yes, also retiring at the end of May).  That last bit was going to set me up for my final embellishing!

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The flowers are all cut using dies from the Botanical Builder Framelits.  I cut large and small flowers from Very Vanilla, Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride card stock.  I also cut two fern leaves in Mint Macaron.  To pull in some more gold, I looped Gold Metallic Thread on top of my teacup, securing it with a few dabs of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I started layering the flowers, starting with the fern leaves, and then three flowers adhered with Liquid Glue and three popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added a Pearl Basic Jewel to each flower just to finish off the bouquet.

For the sentiment, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the sentiment from A Nice Cuppa in Mint Macaron in the center.  Around it, to conjure the linen look of the card front, I stamped the image from Awesomely Artistic in Blushing Bride all around the sentiment, and lightly sponged the edges.  Then I matted it on Blushing Bride and used some Dimensionals on the top and bottom to adhere it over the ribbon layers.  The ribbons are actually a tiny bit thicker than the Dimensionals, so the result is a slightly rounded profile to the sentiment panel, which is kind of cool!
A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I finished the front of the card with one tiny bow made from the Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine, adhered with Liquid Glue, and a few of the Pearl Basic Embellishments on the sentiment panel.

On the inside of the card, I did another panel of Very Vanilla, adding the lightly sponged linen image from Awesomely Artistic around the outside in Blushing Bride.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Love & Affection in Mint Macaron and SNAILd it into my Blushing Bride card base (no additional inner liner mat on this card).

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the card front on and that did it for the card! 🙂

A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some Blushing Bride flowers, pulled from the Love & Affection stamp set.  This is two stamp images – both done in Blushing Bride.  I filled the centers in with my Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write Marker…

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and the inside liner, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits (another retiring goody!), is another piece of the Playful Palette DSP Stack.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!   A bouquet for Mother’s Day, combining some of our favorites that are leaving us soon and some new friends we’ll get to meet in June.  Hope you like!

Folks – the retiring list is chock-a-block filled with ribbon and trim – don’t miss your chance to get some.  All the items I used today are available now – but won’t be when supplies run out!  And A Nice Cuppa is available as a retiring bundle with its Cups & Kettle Thinlits.  There’s just over a month left!

BUT – there’s only a WEEK left for FREE shipping on any order of $50 (before shipping and taxes) and DOUBLE peppermints on the same order! Combine the retiring items with extra rewards and free shipping while you can! 🙂

See you tomorrow for updates from Stampin’ Up!

Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic Copper Butterfly

Good Morning – it’s Friday and the weekend is upon us again! Thanks for stopping by our Blog Hop yesterday – I hope you enjoyed seeing everyone’s projects! 🙂

My card for today uses a stamp set that – thankfully! – will also be in the upcoming Annual Catalog!  Awesomely Artistic really is….awesome!…and I’m glad we’ll get to use it for another year.  I paired it with the Butterflies Thinlits (also coming back!) and a new product that we got to see at OnStage.  Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Are you kiddin’ me??  Well…no.  I’m not.  So, here’s what I came up with.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic What I Love Thanks!

Update on 1 Mar 16:  This card was selected as a runner-up (Princess) at Freshly Made Sketches!  Whoo-hoo and many thanks to the ladies over at FMS for picking my card out of all the wonderful cards submitted.  Please take a minute and go check out the Queen of Clean (Wendy – from Simply Made) and the other Princesses! 🙂

Well, it was a spectacularly gorgeous day here in Atlanta – the kind of day that makes those of us who live here glad of it!  And helps to make up for the really cold winter days and the oh-so-freakin’-humid summers!  Southerners know that Spring (and Spring-like days in February!) and Fall are our reward for the winter and summer.  Heck if every day in the South was like today – folk would be flocking here even more than they already do! 🙂

Today’s thank-you card (yes, I need a lot of thank-you cards!) brings back one of the beautiful springy stamp sets from the Annual Catalog.  Awesomely Artistic has one of the prettiest floral stamps that I’ve seen.  I grabbed a sentiment from the Sale-A-Bration set called What I Love and some pretty paper from the Birthday Bouquet DSP and….take a look-see:
