Stampin’ Up! This Little Piggy Goes Swimming!

Mornin’, y’all!  Hope you had a great weekend – and are ready for the week!

If you were able to join me last night on my Facebook Live video – thanks for spending part of your weekend with me! 🙂  If not, here’s the video to watch to see how to make today’s card!

I made a card to send to my friend who recently had surgery – and is having a rough time right now.  I hope this one, created with the This Little Piggy stamp set from the Annual Catalog and the Count My Blessings stamp set – avail on 1 Sept in the 2017 Holiday Catalog – will bring her a little smile.  Take a look-see:

This Little Piggy Went Swimmng - Stamps-N-Lingers 5

All the card cuts are below and the process to make the “ocean” is in the video, so give that a watch!

I made the ocean with some Color Theory DSP paper in Dapper Denim that I cut with the scalloped die in the Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  I also dry embossed each sheet in the Seaside TIEF.

This Little Piggy Went Swimmng - Stamps-N-Lingers 2

On my Whisper White card front, I painted a “sunset” in Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and a touch of Flirty Flamingo with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.  I added some Pool Party clouds and the sentiment, from This Little Piggy, which is stamped in Dapper Denim.

I stamped two of the flying piggies in Flirty Flamingo on Whisper White and fussy cut them, then colored them in Powder Pink and Flirty Flamingo, again using the Clear Wink of Stella.

This Little Piggy Went Swimmng - Stamps-N-Lingers 3

I layered all the pieces onto my card front with Liquid Glue, Fast Fuse’d it to a Flirty Flamingo mat, then wrapped some Flirty Flamingo Baker’s Twine three times around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  My bow is adhered with a Glue Dot (I show you how to make that on the video, too!)  As a final touch, I added a Dapper Denim Glitter Enamel Shape to the middle of the bow.

This Little Piggy Went Swimmng - Stamps-N-Lingers 4

On the inside, I stamped the piggy again in Flirty Flamingo on a Whisper White panel and colored her again in Powder Pink and Flirty Flamingo.  Over her, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added the gorgeous sentiment from the Count My Blessings stamp set (available 1 Sept) in Dapper Denim.  Then I added a few Pink Pirouette Enamel Shapes hearts.

This Little Piggy Went Swimmng - Stamps-N-Lingers 6

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into my Dapper Denim card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another This Little Piggy piggy on the front…

This Little Piggy Went Swimmng - Stamps-N-Lingers 7

…and a piece of Dapper Denim Color Theory DSP on the envelope flap.

This Little Piggy Went Swimmng - Stamps-N-Lingers 8

Et Voila!  This (adorable) Little Piggy is cute enough to make anyone smile when they see her – but…two of them?!?  Diving and cavorting in the ocean?  Oh yea – I think it’s gonna work!  And how gorgeous is the font on that sentiment from the Count Your Blessings stamp set?  I hope you like! 🙂

Finn-Fan Fix

Finn is a helper.

He helps the kitties get from one room to another.  Whether they want his help or not!

He helps me in the kitchen.

He helps his Dad in the….kitchen.

The other day we smoked a pork shoulder butt.

Wait – a “shoulder” “butt”?!?  What the heck is that!?

Regardless – we smoked it and then Wayne pulled it.

And – in the interest of ensuring that no pork would find it’s way to the floor, Finn helped!

I’m not sure the picture fully captures the intensity and focus.  He never blinked….

Stampin’ Up! Get the Message…in a Bottle?

Good morning, y’all!  I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July holiday!  I did gather myself up and went to my friend’s house for the afternoon – and I’m so glad I did!  I had a wonderful time with her and her husband and a few other folks from their neighborhood!  I even gave myself a bit of a “day off” on the diet – although Sandi made wonderful things that I could eat without guilt.

And her neighbor brought some guilty pecan pie tartlets.

I had one of those, too – and it was….so yummy!

Now.

Last October, I posted a card that looked like….this:

One of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is the opportunity to earn an Incentive Trip each year.  All of them are wonderful – they’re going to a resort in Phuket, Thailand this year – and include airfare and super-cool perks.  As in swag and free goodies and sneak peeks at new catalogs!

The incentive trip for 2018 was announced last September – and it’s an Alaskan cruise!

As I mentioned in my 1 Oct post (check it right here, if you like) – it was the perfect combination for me.

Alaska – check!

Cruise – check!

Cruise to Alaska – check check and CHECK!

So – I set my sights on earning that cruise.

And – thanks to my wonderful customers and the ladies who’ve joined my little downline….

I found out on Monday evening that I’ve earned the Alaskan Cruise!!

Whooo-hoooo!!!  I can hardly believe it yet.  But it’s true.  This time next year, Wayne and I will be just about ready to fly to Seattle for the start of our weeklong cruise with a whole passle of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators!

I guess I can wait that long!

I’m surely grateful that I signed up to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and that they’ve given me the opportunity to…earn extra cash, play with wonderful stamping products and meet lovely folks (that’s you guys!!)  Oh.  And go on a CRUISE!!!

Okay – on with the card for today!  I thought I’d make something sort of nautical – that hints at the cruise, to use to send to Wayne and let him know 1) I love him and 2) it’s time to be thinking about getting those little stick legs tanned and ready for some shorts!  Cuz….buckle up, buttercup!  We’re goin’ a-cruisin’!!

I pulled out the new Message in a Bottle stamp set and some Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP for the occasion.  Take a look-see:

This layout was inspired by the sketch from the Global Design Project this week.

I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, created a card base and dry embossed the front in the Seaside TIEF.  I know – I did this very recently on my Magical Mermaid card.  Sorry – but it just makes sense for this card, too! 🙂

I cut a small piece of the striped Soft Sky paper in the Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP and ran that thru the Big Shot in the Seaside TIEF, too.  I SNAILd it to a Marina Mist mat and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On a scrap piece of Thick Whisper White card stock, I stamped the bottle image from Message in a Bottle, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  To “fill” the bottle, I stamped the water image in Marina Mist.  I also stamped the water image on the top of a sticky note and cut it out to make a mask – which I placed over the water I’d just stamped inside the bottle.

Using the ship image, I stamped it inside the bottle and over my masked water in Early Espresso Ink.  When I picked up the mask – my ship was “in” the water!  Then I colored the sails with my Pool Party and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers.

Finally, I stamped a “cork” in the top of the bottle in Crumb Cake ink, and then I fussy cut the bottle.

My sentiment, also from Message in a Bottle, is stamped on a strip of Whisper White in Marina Mist.  I cut a same-size strip of So Saffron card stock, snipped banners in the end of both strips and adhered them to the middle panel with Liquid Glue.  Using Liquid Glue (and a mini Stampin’ Dimensional), I adhered my bottle over the top.

To finish it off, I tied a small bow with two lengths of Silver Metallic Thread and one length of Linen Thread and adhered it to the bottle neck with a dab of Liquid Glue.

On the inside, I stamped the bottle again in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Thick Whisper White panel and then added the I Love You image in Marina Mist.  This is a photopolymer stamp set – so it’s easy peasy to get the images where you need them.  I added a Marina Mist heart from Message in a Bottle as a cork. 🙂  Across the bottom – since I fully expect to see whales on the cruise!! – I stamped three in Tuxedo Black, with Marina Mist spouts!

I SNAILd the panel to a Marina Mist mat and then into my card base, and the card was done!

I added more of the Tuxedo Black whales across the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope…

…and then added more of the Soft Sky foil paper from the Foil Frenzy Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  What do you think?  Will he “get” both the messages in this card?  I suspect I’ll have to follow up with a phone call.  I know he’ll figure the I Love You piece – but…the ship in the bottle…well.  That one may be a little more obscure.  But – isn’t this a Message in a Bottle a fun little stamp set?  Hope you like!

Good morning, y’all – welcome to another edition of the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  We had a clean-and-simple sketch to work with this week – I hope that you’ll spend some time hopping thru all our blogs and check out everyone’s projects!

Here’s the sketch:

15697629_10211887774658068_218019876140369891_n
I used a new-to-me bundle from the Occasions catalog called That’s The Tag!  It’s got a beautiful stamp set of the same name and a matching die set called the Timeless Tags Thinlits.  I think it’s gorgeous and it’s what I used for this week’s project.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Perfectly Wrapped Seaside Shore

Last weekend in Savannah is in the books, folks!  This time next week I’ll be home and – hopefully! – unpacked and back in the home-groove!  And it’ll be August, for goodness sake! Can you even believe that??  I mean, the thermometer definitely knows it’s August, but darned if this year isn’t just flying by!  We just did some Christmas in July, but…it’s going to be Christmas-for-real really soon!

And speaking of which – next week is the deadline to be sure you’re on my list to get a free 2016 Holiday Catalog!  If you’ve placed a $50 or higher order with me in the past year, and you let me see who you are (you’ll know cuz I sent you an e-mail and an ordering gift!), then you’re in – you’ll be getting a catalog in the first half of August.  If you haven’t placed an order, this would be a good time – pick $5o or more of your favorite goodies and I’ll automatically put you on the mailing list! 🙂

Now – speaking of goodies.  The Seaside Shore stamp set, which I played with for today’s card, is what I’d call a “sleeper”.   When I first saw it, I wasn’t all that impressed.  I really couldn’t see me making much with it.  But, now that I’ve got it, and have made a few projects with it – I really really love it.  It’s just so much fun – especially when combined with the By The Shore DSP and the Seaside TIEF.  And for this one, I added a couple of sentiments from the Perfectly Wrapped set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Seaside Shore Just Saying “Hey”!

Good morning, y’all!  By the time you read this post I’ll either be putting the last of my things into the Kia Soul that is my rental car (yes – that one.  You can drive this – or you can drive that.  The singing and dancing giant rapping hamsters) or I’ll be standing in the corner, arms crossed petulantly, lip poked out, glaring at everyone and no one. and stomping my foot whilst stating “No.  I won’t go.  You can’t make me.  I don’t waaaaaaannnnnnaaaaa!!”.

Since I am who I am – it’ll probably be the former.  But on the inside…the pouty me will still be stomping my foot!! 😉

I think I’ve mentioned I have a “business trip switch”.  Once it flips, I’m good-to-go.  Until then, I’m fighting it the whole way.  My switch hasn’t flipped as of Saturday night.  Let’s hope it gets on the stick or it’s going to be a really pissy drive to Savannah!

Duck Duck told me she was really going to miss me at lot.

Until I told her I’d chopped up an entire huge head of cabbage so she’d get it while I’m gone.

At that point she said….see ya. Wouldn’t wanna be ya!

At least, I’m pretty sure that’s what that particular squawkackel meant. 😉  Don’t bother Googling squawkackel…..

If you just came over from Amy’s blog – welcome!  Yes, this is the right spot – here comes the promised card!  This one uses the new Seaside Shore stamp set and the coordinating By The Shore DSP.  And some fussy cutting!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Seaside Shore Jar of Love

UPDATE 28 Jun 16:  Hey folks – I just found out that this card was selected as a Hand Stamped Sentiments Artist Pick!  Whoo-hoo – and thanks to all the greta designers at HSS for selecting my card! 🙂  You can see the other winners right here!

Good Friday morning to y’all!  I hope your week has gone well and that you’ve got fun plans for the weekend!  Don’t be forgetting that Father’s Day is Sunday!

So this morning – Thursday morning that is! – I was sitting in the kitchen working on the computer and out of the corner of my eye I saw something sort of gallop by down below – right by the pond.  I glanced over and there was a small brown dog, kind of romping and stopping to smell the grass.  I jumped up and called Wayne – and we looked to see whose little dog was out there.

And then.  We realized.  It wasn’t a dog.  It was a FAWN!!  A teeny, tiny, spotty-bodied little fawn!  And just a little ways further up the pond was Mom.  And her TWIN!!  Oh.  My.  Goodness.

IMG_2735

That’s them – the kids are getting a quick snack there.  That would be the world’s worst picture – hopefully we’ll see them again soon and I can get a better picture of them.  They’re just so stinkin’ cute!! 🙂

This is the first set of babies we’ve seen this year, so that was really exciting for us!

Anywho….card.  I made this fun little shaker card using the new Jar of Love stamp set and its coordinating Everyday Jars Framelits.  I added some Seaside Shore and a touch of Swirly Scribbles Thinlits die cuts.  Take a look-see:

Seaside Shore Jar of Love 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

This card managed to play along with three challenges.  The first inspired the layout, the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge #241: Continue reading
