Stampin’ Up! Timeless Oasis Memories Aloha!

Good morning!  It’s day….whatever!…of the Big Social Distancing of 2020.  It’s hard for me to keep track – since I work from home, the only real difference is severely curtailed trips to the grocery!  And no – “let’s call the Martins and get dinner tonight” for a while.  Which I DO miss.  And our friends just postponed their April wedding…which made me sad. 🙁   But – we’re all healthy and safe.  And won’t run out of food or…craft supplies any time soon. 😉

Speaking of – one of my very favorite suites in the Jan-Jun Mini Catalog is the Tropical Oasis.  I used that one – or parts of it! – today for my card.  And – the Tropical Oasis Memories & More Card Pack is the star of this show!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

Now – this is a great card if you’ve got a party or some event that you need to go to and would like to NOT have inky fingers!

That’s right – no ink.  So stamping!  A little fussy cutting and embossing.  A die cut or two.  And…that’s it!  So….hang on – this is a quickie!

I started with a piece of Pool Party card stock that I embossed in the wonderful Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder, then matted on Real Red for the card front.

With SNAIL, I adhered a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.

From the Tropical Oasis Memories & More Card Pack, I pulled out two of the small cards with the yummy looking tropical coconut drink.

From one of the panels, I fussy cut the entire image.  I fussy cut just the umbrella from the second panel.

I popped the image over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I popped the fussy cut umbrella over the first image with more Dimensionals.

Using the sentiment die from In The Tropics, I cut three of the Aloha sentiment from Real Red and stacked them all up with Liquid Glue.

I adhered the stacked sentiment to the coconut – added three red gems from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels….and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used two stickers from the Tropical Oasis Memories & More Card Pack on a Whisper White panel.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Real Red mat and into my Soft Suede card base, and to adhere the card front to the front of the card, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a couple more Tropical Oasis Memories & More Card Pack stickers on the front…

…and a little Tropical Oasis DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love all the fun and dare I say…luscious?…designs to be found in the Tropical Oasis Memories & More Card Pack.  And – although I didn’t use it on this card – the Timeless Tropical stamp is a wonderful set filled with even more tropical images!

Stampin’ Up! Timeless Tropical Oasis “W” Fun-Fold Birthday Card

Good Friday morning, y’all!!  Been a heck of a week and I, for one, am not at all sad to see it fade away. 😉  Hopefully YOUR week has been good and your weekend is looking to be a good one.

I saw this fun-fold the other day on my teammate Karen Finkle’s blog and I watched the video over on Cindy Brumbaugh’s Cindy LeeBee Designs blog to see how to put it together.  Then, I made one using the Tropical Oasis DSP and the Timeless Tropical bundle.  Take a look-see:

The front of this fun-fold card was inspired by the sketch challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

And it fits perfectly with the Watercooler Wednesday All About Occasions challenge!

The card I made in the video is the exact same layout – but I changed up the card base (and “w” mechanism) to use Terracotta Tile – versus the Shaded Spruce in this post.  Check out how they look next to each other.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Shaded Spruce (or Terracotta Tile for the second card), scored and folded at 5 1/2″.  For the card front, I matted a piece of the Tropical Oasis DSP on Petal Pink and adhered it to the front of the card base with Liquid Glue.

I pulled out my Jubilee Beauty die set and cut the ornate rectangle from Petal Pink, then adhered it to the left side of the card front with Liquid Glue.  Then I laid my ribbon across the card so that I’d know where to place my decorations.  This card uses Granny Apple Green 1/2″ Textured Weave Ribbon.  The second card (video) uses the linen ribbon in the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack.

Using the dies in the In The Tropics set, I cut a “pineapple” top from Granny Apple Green card stock.  With a Sponge Dauber, I added a little Shaded Spruce ink to the pineapple frond.  I spritzed the card stock with water using my Stampin’ Spritzer and cut three “palm leaves”.

For this card, I stamped the two flower images in Terracotta Tile on Petal Pink.  I cut them with the dies in the In The Tropics set and lightly colored the center with my Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend Marker.  The second card is similar – with the flowers stamped in Petal Pink on Whisper White and colored lightly with the same Dark Daffodil Delight Blend.

Using Liquid Glue, I adhered the palm leaves and the small flower with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the pineapple frond to the back of the larger flower with Liquid Glue – then placed Stampin’ Dimensionals at the top and bottom (creating a “channel” for my ribbon to slide thru).

I cut two of the “aloha” sentiments from Shaded Spruce (or Terracotta Tile) and stacked them together with Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered it to the large flower.

I added a few green gems from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones Pack and the card front was done.

For the inside, I adhered two pieces of the Tropical Oasis DSP on the inside panels.

The mechanism for the “W”  (or the “M”) fold – depending on your perspective…

…is a 1 3/4″ x 11″ piece of the same color card stock as the card base.  I scored and folded it at 2 3/4″, 5 1/2″ and 8 1/4″ – then used Liquid Glue on just the end panels – to adhere it into the card base.

I cut four Petal Pink mats, plus two Whisper White and two DSP squares.  I added two of the Timeless Tropical sentiments in Terracotta Tile on the Whisper White squares.

After adhering the pieces to their mats with Liquid Glue, I adhered them to the mechanism panels.  NOTE:  the two end panels can have adhesive all over the back.  For the two middle pieces (on the panels that move when the card opens and closes), you’ll want to put your adhesive on the MECHANISM, not on the back of the matted square.  Trust me on this! 😉

Once all the panels are in place – here’s how the inside looks!

Close the card and tie the ribbon around it in a pretty bow and…the card is done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a Terracotta Tile small flower on the front – I covered it with a sticky note mask and added two Shaded Spruce leaves…

…and more of the Tropical Oasis DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Regardless of whether this looks like a “W” or an “M” fold to you – to me it just looks fun!  And it is!  Especially when it’s done with the uber-gorgeous Tropical Oasis DSP!  With Timeless Tropical-stamped and In The Tropics-die cut flowers and leaves…it’s a tropical vacation in a card!

Stampin’ Up! Aloha in the Timeless Tropics

My card today is from one of my very favorite suites in the 2020 Jan – Jun Mini Catalog – the Tropical Oasis Suite!!  It’s a card that would work great for a retirement – a bon voyage – or just someone who needs to be reminded to chill out and relax every once in a while!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s As You See It challenge.

I started with the woven-design paper from the Tropical Oasis DSP and embossed it in the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder.  Then I matted it on Mango Melody for the card front.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the large flower from Timeless Tropical in Saddle Brown Stazon Ink.  I colored both of them with my Light Mango Melody Stampin’ Blend, adding some additional color with the Light Calypso Coral Blend.  Then I cut them with the matching die in the In the Tropics die set.

I used an Old Olive design from the DSP and cut out a pineapple top and several smaller leaves.  I did the same from a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock (I spritzed the card stock lightly with water, first).

I also cut a strip of another design in the Tropical Oasis DSP and bannerized both ends with Paper Snips.

Finally, I cut three of the Aloha sentiment dies from In the Tropics in Mango Melody and stacked them up with Liquid Glue.

Then – time to collage-i-fy!

I laid everything out – including a short length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon…

…and when I liked it – I started building!

I adhered the first stamped flower with Liquid Glue – then added pineapple tops and leaves, all with Liquid Glue.

Then I added the bannerized DSP strip.

I popped the second stamped flower on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

With a little strip of SNAIL, I adhered the Burlap Ribbon.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the stacked sentiment.

I cut several little In the Tropics flowers from Daffodil Delight and Terracotta Tile and adhered them together and then to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I tied a simple bow with a double length of Grapefruit Grove twine from the Nature’s Twine pack and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I added some Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the little flower centers and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the sentiment and trees from Timeless Tropical.  I inked the sentiment in Mango Melody and stamped it on a Whisper White panel.  Then I used a Sponge Dauber to lightly add Terracotta Tile ink to just the tops of the letters and stamped it again.  I did that until I was happy – with a sort of “sunset” look to the sentiment.  For the trees – I did Marker-to-Rubber to color the stamps, with Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers on the tree-tops and Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Markers for the trunks.  Another Champagne Rhinestone found its way onto the panel, too!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mango Melody mat and into my Terracotta Tile card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Timeless Tropical trees on the front…

…and some Tropical Oasis DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Boy – I do LOVE this Timeless Tropical bundle with the beautiful In the Tropics Dies – look how great they are for making lush, tropical collages!!  Don’t miss out on making leaves from the Tropical Oasis DSP, either!!  Such fun.  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix


So – the other night Wayne and I went over to our friend’s for dinner.  Finn stayed home sleeping.

While we were there, I gathered a little….evidence.

This is Jax.

Please note the intense and highly focused stare.

Do you recognize the dude with the Fritos?  Perhaps the hat is a clue??

Does this picture remind you of….any OTHER picture you’ve ever seen?

I believe we’ve identified the common denominator…. 😉

Stampin’ Up! Paneled Timeless Tropical Oasis for a Friend

Happy happy Hawwwmp Day!  Hope your week is going well! 🙂

I’ve got a sweet not-so-little card for you today.  It’s built on a Magnolia Lane Memories & More Large Specialty Card, with the matching envelope, so…it’s a substantial card!  And I used the Tropical Oasis goodies – including the Memories & More Card Pack – plus the Timeless Tropical stamp set with the bundled In The Tropics Dies.  Take a look-see:

 

The layout is inspired by the sketch challenge over at the Global Design Project this week.

I started with a piece of So Saffron card stock as a mat for my card front.  The card front itself is a large panel from the Tropical Oasis Memories & More Card Pack.  I cut the panel into 1″ wide strips and matted each of the strips on Pear Pizzazz.

Then I adhered the strips to the So Saffron panel with Liquid Glue.

I created a pineapple by cutting the “top” from Pear Pizzazz and the detailed bottom from So Saffron.  With Sponge Daubers, I brushed Pear Pizzazz ink over the top and So Saffron ink over the bottom to give them some dimension.  I adhered the So Saffron die cut to a piece of Pear Pizzazz (that I’d sponged with Pear Pizzazz ink) with Liquid Glue then cut around the pineapple to trim the excess and create a “back” for the pineapple.

Then I adhered the top and bottom to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the small Timeless Tropical flowers a few times on Very Vanilla – once in Grapefruit Grove, once in Terracotta Tile and a third time in stamped-off-once Terracotta Tile.  I used my Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend to color the petals.

I cut a couple of leaves from Pear Pizzazz.

Then I made the sentiment, stamping the phrase from Timeless Tropical in Grapefruit Grove on a Very Vanilla stip that I bannerized with my Paper Snips.

The final element is a short piece of 3/8″ Braided Linen Trim that I pulled apart at both ends.

Then it was time to build the collage!

I laid out all the pieces – and took the picture.

Then I started taking off a couple of layers and…took another picture.

I pulled all of the pieces off and started adhering them back down – in order – with Liquid Glue.

The final flower is added with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  I brushed that one with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

I used Glue Dots to tuck a couple of leaves from the Tropical Oasis Trinkets in amongst the flowers and die cut leaves.

I added a few Champagne Rhinestones to the flowers and card front – and it was done!

On the inside, I stamped the flower again in Terracotta Tile on a Very Vanilla panel.  Using a sticky note mask, I stamped around the flower – two small pineapples in Pear Pizzazz and two leaves in Old Olive.  I picked up the mask and used my Light Petal Pink Blend to color the flower, Light So Saffron Blend for the pineapples and Light Old Olive Blend for the leaves.  Then I tucked a few Champagne Rhinestones around and added one to the middle of the flower.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to my So Saffron mat and into the Magnolia Lane card, added the card front with Liquid Glue, and the card was done.

My Magnolia Lane Memories & More Large Specialty Envelope got the stamped images on the front (I didn’t color them in)…

…and I used the envelope liner that comes with the Magnolia Lane Memories & More Large Specialty Cards & Envelopes as a template and created my own liner.  I used Liquid Glue to adhere it inside the envelope.

Et Voila!  I love this Tropical Oasis Suite SO much – and it is AWESOME on the Magnolia Lane card!!  The Tropical Oasis DSP is one of the most stunning papers I’ve seen.  And the beautiful images, sentiments and cutting/embossing dies in the Timeless Tropical Bundle are wonderful and work perfectly to create a scene straight out of the Hawaiian Islands!  I hope you like!

Finn Fan Fix


My friend Jan and I, along with Finn’s….birth mother, Linda…have been on an ongoing group chat on our phones….pretty much since the day that Finn came home with us three-plus years ago.

Yesterday afternoon, Jan sent us a picture of Scout (Finn’s sister) sitting out on the lawn, sniffing the world.  Watching for….anything.

Linda responded with what Finn’s dog-mom… Bonnie….was doing at the time.

And so – I chimed in with….

Kind of all in the family.  All lazing away a Tuesday afternoon in their own “unique” way.   Genetics?  The common thread of The Force?

Who knows.  I DO know that I am grateful on a daily basis that Bonnie is a sleeper.  And that she passed that to my Finny-win.  Cuz…a dog that wants to sleep is a blessing indeed!  😉

Stampin’ Up! Back on Your Feet in a Tropical Oasis

Well.  It’s happened again.  It’s Friday!  Whoo-hooo!!  Hope you’ve got a good weekend coming up.

Just a PSA – today is the LAST DAY to “cash” in on my Double Peppermints Ordering Special.  Don’t miss out, okay?  That is all.

A friend of mine recently took a spill and, in a split-second decision, opted to land on her knee instead of her noggin.  Which – while a good plan in the big scheme of things, still HURT like crazy!  So – I needed a good-for-a-smile get well card.  I think the images in Back on Your Feet are just the thing, don’t you?  And I put my guy in the Tropics – courtesy of the new Tropical Oasis Suite.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one is from this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge – although I cheated the sentiment placement…

I started with some Tropical Oasis DSP – I think this one is leading the pack for my fave new DSP!! – that I matted on Terracotta Tile for the card front.  Then I took a second design and matted it on Terracotta Tile to create the DSP strip.

For the art, I used my Stamparatus to stamp the too-cute sloth in Soft Suede ink on Whisper White.  I colored the image with my Soft Suede and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Combos.  I used a Blender Pen to pick up ink from the lid of my Terracotta Tile ink pad to color the bandage.

I added “ouch” in Terracotta TIle, then matted the panel and popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used some SNAIL to adhere two pieces of Terracotta Tile 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon.

On Whisper White, I stamped the small flower and the leaf from Timeless Tropical in Soft Suede.  I colored the flower with my Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends Combo – and my Blender Pen with Terracotta TIle.  The leaf is colored with the Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Combo.  I cut them with their dies in the Timeless Tropical Dies.

I sponged some Old Olive on a piece of Pear Pizzazz and then cut three of the leaves in the Timeless Tropical dies.

Then I built the collage.

I popped the large leaf on with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  Next, I made a double-loop with some Linen Thread – twisted it into a figure-8 and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  Then I added the flower with a Dimensional.  I tucked the leaves in here and there with Liquid Glue.

I finished with a Terracotta Tile Faceted Gem (annual catalog) in the middle of the flower and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Back on Your Feet sentiment in Terracotta Tile on a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I stamped the small flower in Soft Suede.  I also stamped the image on a sticky note and fussy cut it to create a mask.  I covered the flower on the panel with the mask and added the leaf a few times.  The images are colored just like I did on the front – and I added another Terracotta Tile Faceted Dot.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Terracotta Tile mat and into my Soft Suede card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another flower and leaves on the front…

…and a little more Tropical Oasis DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I feel pretty sure this will bring a smile, which is always the point of a get-well card, right?  The cute images and sweet sentiments in Back on Your Feet are punny-ly fun and yet convey that we care!  And Tropical Oasis – the Timeless Tropical stamp set, In the Tropics dies and Tropical Oasis DSP…well.  This is fast becoming my favorite suite in the 2020 Jan-Jun Mini Catalog!  I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Coastal Timeless Tropical Oasis for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

For today’s card, I went back to the gorgeous Tropical Oasis suite of goodies.  Uhm – you can get this TOMORROW!!  Whoo-hoo!!  I used the Timeless Tropical stamp set and bundled In The Tropics Die set, combined with some pretty “quiet” Tropical Oasis DSP.   Take a look-see:

I started with some solid-ish designed paper from the Tropical Oasis DSP and matted it on Grapefruit Grove for the card front.  the center panel is more Tropical Oasis DSP, embossed in the Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder and matted on Grapefruit Grove.  I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On Very Vanilla cardstock, I stamped three sets of palm trees from the Timeless Tropical stamp set, using the marker-to-rubber coloring technique.  This technique is made super easy with the Stamparatus! Put the cardstock in place – put the stamp in place – and you can stamp as many times as you need – layering that color to make gorgeous images!

First I colored the leaves with Pear Pizzazz – using my Stampin’ Write Marker and directly inking the rubber stamp image.  Then I stamped it.  Next, I added some Old Olive and stamped it.  I also made one tree where I used Mint Macaron and Old Olive, for a little different look!  Each tree looks just a little different – even using the same colors on them.  Love!

I used the same technique for the trunks – using Soft Suede and Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Markers.  Then I cut the trees with their coordinating die in the In The Tropics Die set.

I cut another piece of the brown Tropical Oasis DSP and matted it on Grapefruit Grove.

I added two palm trees to the card front with Liquid Glue – leaving one trunk on the left-side tree “loose” so I could slide the small sentiment panel underneath.

I added the small panel with Liquid Glue – and then adhered that loose trunk down, too.

The final tree has Stampin’ Dimensionals under the leaves and Liquid Glue on the trunk.

I cut out three “aloha” sentiments from Grapefruit Grove using the die in In The Tropics.  These are adhered together in a stack with Liquid Glue – then adhered to the card front with more Liquid Glue.

An Old Olive gem from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones finished it off.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Tropical Oasis in Grapefruit Grove on a Very Vanilla panel – then I stamped some trees in the same way that I’d done on the front.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Grapefruit Grove mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the Timeless Tropical trees on the front…

…and some more Tropical Oasis DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  The Timeless Tropical stamp set is absolutely perfect for coloring!  The images were just made for the marker-to-rubber technique – and really allow you to make some realistic looking trees!  And no one can deny the stunning beauty of the Tropical Oasis DSP, right?  Gorgeous!  I hope you like!
