Stampin’ Up! Better Together Flourishing Sympathy!

Good morning, y’all.  I hope your week went well and that you’re all ready for the weekend.  And that you’re all safe and sound – there are many of our fellows this morning that are neither safe, nor sound.  If any of you are in the floods or fires – you have my heartiest wish for better times. 🙁

My card today is a sympathy card for a friend.  She requested one – I don’t know if this is going to answer the mail or not.  She wanted it personalized, but had no ideas for how to do that.  So…hopefully “pretty” will work!

I used some of the pretty copper foil paper from the soon-to-be-available Petals & Paisleys Specialty DSP and some from the Irresistibly Floral DSP in the Annual Catalog.  With the addition of my Better Together sentiments, and some die cuts, I got what I think is a lovely sympathy card.  Take a look-see:

My design was driven by the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #250:

I made the card front by SNAILing a piece of the Petals & Paisleys Specialty DSP to a double mat of Copper Foil and Night of Navy.  

The center panel is a piece of the Irresistibly Floral DSP – also double matted on Copper Foil and Night of Navy – SNAILd to the card front.  For those pieces, I laid the card stock on the card front and traced my cut lines on the back, then cut them with my trimmer.

Then I made my die cuts.  I cut one of the smaller “wreath” die cuts from Swirly Scribbles in Whisper White.  Also in Whisper White are several flowers from the Botanical Builder Framelits.  Finally, I cut several pieces of Copper Foil with the Flourish Thinlits.

I used my stylus on the Whisper White flowers to round them up a bit, and lightly sponged their edges with Night of Navy.  Then it was just a matter of using Mulit-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere everything to the card in a suitably artsy manner! 🙂

Then I added a couple of Night of Navy dots from the Regals Enamel Shapes pack to the middle of my flowers.

My sentiment is from the Better Together stamp set, which I stamped in Basic Black Archival Ink on a strip of Copper Foil paper.  I used the corner rounder on the outside of my Envelope Punch Board to round the corners (says the Department of Redundancy Department!).  Then I had the idea to make it look like a rounded, hammered copper tag – so I turned it over and used my stylus on the back to achieve that look.

I wrapped some Night of Navy Solid Baker’s Twine around the card front, securing it in back with scotch tape.  Then I popped my sentiment tag over the top of it with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done.

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Better Together in Basic Black Archival ink in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  

Then I pulled out my Flourishing Phrases stamp set, inked up the large flourish in Versamark ink and stamped it on the bottom of the panel.  I sprinkled that with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.  Then I double matted the panel on Copper Foil and Night of Navy.

I SNAILd it into my Whisper White card base, SNAILd the card front on as well to save on thickness, and the card was done!

For my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I repeated the Copper Stampin’ Emboss Flourishing Phrases flourish on the front…

…and added a little more of the Petals & Paisleys DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Obviously, Night of Navy, Whisper White and Copper go very well together (otherwise SU! wouldn’t have put it together in the Petals & Paisley DSP, duh!) and I think it’s perfect for an elegant sympathy card!  Hope you like!
