Good day-after-SB LI, y’all! I’m suspecting if you watched the whole game – you’re a bit on the sleepy side this morning! As I type this, we’re smack in the second quarter and Atlanta has just posted the second score of the game! Atlanta came to play, folks! But Tom’s no slouch – looks like it’s going to be a good one! (Monday morning addendum….Oh My Goodness! What a game! What a crushing defeat for Atlanta. You have to feel bad for the Falcons – it was a heartbreaker, for sure. But – say what you will about Tom Brady. He is just one helluva quarterback. And the Patriots showed real heart, didn’t they? To come back after such a deficit – a record breaking effort. They earned this one, for sure! I have to say – it was one of the best SBs I’ve ever watched! Wow. 🙂 )
I don’t have any stories about Finn today – well, I do, but I’m going to save them for another day. I got a little bit of sad news on Sunday morning – a friend of Finn’s – from where he was born – has died. His name was Cody and he was only 10 years old. Not related to Finn, but certainly his friend for the first 5 months of his little life. And he’s the reason they got into Aussies in the first place so…he’s kinda the reason that Finn….is!!
So I made a sympathy card for Cody’s parents. I used the pretty flowers in the Wild About Flowers set and some sentiments from the Flourishing Phrases and the Better Together stamp sets. And – cuz my mom sent it to me last year when we brought Finn home – I was able to add a little non-SU! Aussie image. Until you get to the inside, where the dog image resides, this card would be perfect for any Sympathy Card need. Take a look-see:
The layout comes from the MFT Card Challenge this week.
And it turned out that the Just Us Girls challenge this week is a word challenge – and guess what the word is?
I started with a Very Vanilla panel and first stamped my sentiment from the Flourishing Phrases stamp set in Early Espresso. I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to be sure it got right where I wanted it.
Next up was the flower images from the Wild About Flowers set. I stamped two of the stem images in Soft Suede – that I stamped off once before stamping the card. I added a third stem – in Early Espresso that I stamped off three times before stamping the card
I added some of the pretty flowers – the two-flower image is stamped in So Saffron, the three-flower image in stamped-off-once Calypso Coral and the little dandelion-looking image is in stamped-off-once Peekaboo Peach.
At this point, I SNAILd the panel to a So Saffron mat. Then I wrapped a piece of Peekaboo Peach 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.
The strip across the bottom is a piece of Cupcakes & Carousels DSP, matted on So Saffron. To finish off the card front, I added a few Peekaboo Peach Enamel Shapes – and that was it!
On the inside, I first stamped my non-SU! Aussie puppy image in Soft Suede in the middle of a Very Vanilla panel. I colored the puppy – trying to personalize it to look as much like Cody as I could. I used my Cajun Craze and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers, and then used my Early Espresso Watercolor Pencil to sort of blend it all together. Over the top, I added the nice sentiment from Better Together in Early Espresso ink.
I SNAILd the panel to a So Saffron mat and into my Early Espresso card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a couple of Wild About Flowers images – colored just like on the front of the card…
…and I used a different design from Cupcakes & Carousels on the envelope flap (yes – I was out of the design I used on the card!).
Et Voila! As I mentioned at the beginning, you could definitely use this combination of colors and stamped images for a people-sympathy card – just leave off the dog! Hope you like! 🙂

So sorry about Cody. You did a marvelous job on the Aussie stamp. Yes, it was a great game and Lady was decent. Wonder who has Brady’s jersey? Have a good week.
I was impressed with Lady Gaga – didn’t think I would be! Thanks much, Karen! 🙂
Mary, that is so nice, I know your friends will appreciate it. I just love the dog inside, too. Beautiful job on the bouquet of flowers, too.
