Stampin’ Up! Artistically Asian There for Me

Happy three-day weekend, my peeps!  Hope you’ve got some fun plans – and that you won’t get washed out.  It’s looking like we’re going to get the “wet” version of Sprummer here in the south!

I was so tickled when I discovered that the Artistically Asian stamp set was carrying over!  It’s got such pretty flower and foliage images, plus wonderful sentiments.  I used some of the new Brights colors and a Stitched Labels Frameltis die to make a clean-and-simple card.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Artistically Asian Color Theory DSP Sneak Peek!

Mornin’, y’all – happy Haawwmp Day!  I hope you’ve had a chance to check out the video I did showing off the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog goodies that I got yesterday!  It was part of my Demonstrator-perk….perked up even more by the fact that I went to OnStage last weekend!  And boy was that a fun box to open!!  Didn’t get to see it?  Check it out right here! 🙂

My card today is a play on one that I remember seeing last week.  For some reason, the “paint chip” paper in the new Color Theory DSP Stack really just caught my eye – guess I need to work in a paint store!!  This is really cool paper, though…

A little tidbit…remember the bindings on the 6″ x 6″ paper stack?  That rubber stuff that held the papers together?  Well – its gone!!  Yeah!!  SU! listened to us griping and it’s gone!!

Anywho – I decided to make a clean and simple card with the Berry Burst “paint chip”.  I added some Artistically Asian – take a look-see:

I played along with the sketch challenge over at CAS(E) This Sketch for this one:

I started with a piece of the Color Theory paper – in Berry Burst (the stack also features Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Dapper Denim) – and, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, stamped the Artistically Asian floral image in Basic Black Archival Ink.  I also added the sentiment in Basic Black.

I matted the panel on a piece of Basic Black card stock and then on a second mat of Berry Burst.  And – yep.  That was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used the same Artistically Asian image.  I inked it up in Berry Burst ink, stamped it off 4 times on my Grid Paper, then stamped it in the middle of a Whisper White panel.

I double matted the panel on Basic Black and Berry Burst and then SNAILd it into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

For the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I double-stamped the Artistically Asian image – first in full-strength Berry Burst and then in stamped-off-once Basic Black Archival Ink.  I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to ever-so-slightly offset the black image…

…and then I added another piece of the Berry Burst Color Theory DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This one was so quick and easy, y’all – but I think it’s gorgeous!  And – you could do the same exact card on all four colors in the beautiful Color Theory DSP Stack!  Hope you like…and have just added this beautiful stack to your Wish List!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Finny had company overnight!

Our friend Paul came to visit – and Finn was….ecstatic!

Company…Is….Finn-Fun!!

He had a great time – even though it’s a LOT OF WORK!!

When Paul left about mid-morning. the Finn-ster crashed.  Hard.  He slept for an hour.

Snoring….

He was still tired when it was time to go get the mail.  Decided to ride.

With his dad.

Still keeping a sharp eye out for any danger – it’s Figment Season here in Georgia, after all.  Those boogers pop out from anywhere – and you really never know which direction they’re going to come from.

No rest for the weary-dog! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Black Magic Artistically Asian Butterflies

Well, good Tuesday morning from California!  My trip yesterday was uneventful and I even managed to change seats so I was on the aisle.  And I watched Dr. Strange and Keeping Up With The Joneses.  So, all in all, it was fine.

My card for today uses a technique called Black Magic – and this one uses Whisper White Craft Ink and the new Watercolor Pencils.  I learned the technique from a video that Sandi MacIver did!  You can go see her great video here.  I may do a video on this one day, but I’ll need a lot more practice to be as good at it as Sandi is!

I decided to use the Artistically Asian stamp set and a butterfly from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set!   Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Artistically Better Together Sympathy

Hey, ya’ll – welcome to the week.  I hope you had a great weekend and are ready to get after it again!

Before we get started – can someone tell me why I stayed up until almost midnight on Saturday night?  If you know me, then you know that’s about 4 hours past my “sweet-spot bedtime”.  I stayed up watching The Force Awakens.  Which is fine.  Except that…I’d recorded it.  And – it’s been playing on every single Starz channel pretty much 24/7 since it opened up on Saturday.  Which means I’ve now – on Sunday night – watched it approximately 700 times.

Or….maybe 10.

When I was younger – waaaaaay younger – one of my first driving excursions (without a parent in the car!) was to take my brother and I to see Star Wars.

The first one.

Which is really the fourth one…

And remains – for me – the best one!

It was my first introduction to Han Solo/Harrison Ford – thus starting a life-long crush.  Luke Skywalker?  Nah – Han’s the Man!  And I saw him in it many more times after that.  You know – when you had to go to a theater to see a movie?  Drive?  Park?  Walk in and find a seat?  No Redbox – no HBO….

And boy oh boy – (unlike – IMHO – Luke) he’s aged….beautifully.

(Caution – major spoiler alert coming next….skip to the card if you haven’t seen the movie and plan to!)

************************************************************************************************************************
SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER–SPOILER
************************************************************************************************************************

For each of the 700 times I watched the movie this weekend, I yelled bad bad words at Kylo Ren when he…..killed/murdered/assasinated….Han.

When I watched it in the theater, I just sat in stunned and horrified silence.

I don’t think this’ll be like the great carbomite freezing incident of Empire.  It’ll be tough to bring him back from a light-saber thru the heart.

Star Wars will never be the same for me…. 🙁 🙁 🙁

So I made a sympathy card for myself. 😉

Actually, it’s another request card, but…I’m not sure it’s going to answer the mail.  She asked for no flowers, mentioned the swing in Sitting Here.  But…I didn’t want to do that for you again so quick.  And I was afraid I’d end up making yesterday’s card again today – whether I meant to or not!

I decided to go with one of the pretty silhouette images in Artistically Asian, paired up with some Paisleys & Posies images.  And sentiments from Better Together.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Artistically Asian For a Single Stamp Set Saturday

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Hope you’re staying cool/dry/safe – whatever you need to be today.  Our country is for sure in a weather turmoil, isn’t it?  Epic flooding on one coast, insane fires and heat on the other.  Craziness – and I wish you all well, wherever you are!

Before I get into my card, I have a picture to show you.  Today (Friday – when I was typing this), the horse shoer came.  The ladies got a mani/pedi and Bo got a new pair of sneaks.  The shoer brought his 5 -year old grandson with him.  He’s quite the little helper and problem solver and he decided he needed to open the water-bucket door in Bo’s stall.  So he went to work on it.  Now – that door hadn’t been opened in….well, ever?  So it was a little tough – would have been for me, let alone a 5 year old.  But…he persevered.  And…he got a little help….

Bo - Stamps-N-Lingers
Little one was not to be distracted by warm horse breath in his ear!!  I think Bo was just watching to see if maybe he could repeat the feat at a later time….

Now – just to allay anyone’s fear – no, Bo is not blindfolded!  That’s a fly mask – and it’s see thru.  I promise.  They get along just fine with those on – and it keeps the oh-so-pesky flies off their eyes.  On the other hand, the grazing muzzles the ladies have to wear – now that’s probably horse abuse!!  Just ask them – they’re being abused and tortured every single day – it’s a crime!! Somebody call the Pony Police!!  LOL 🙂

And yes – the water bucket door did get open!

Okay – enough rambling about my horses!  On to the card for the day.  This one is real easy and quick – and only needs one stamp set.  The beautiful new Artistically Asian provided the images and the lovely sentiment.  Take a look-see:
