Stampin’ Up! Touches of Texture Patterned Pumpkins

Well – it’s Friday.  But it’s really like Thursday since I have to work tomorrow.  But – we get Sunday and Monday off!  Whoo-Hoo!!  Thank you Chris Columbus! 🙂

Today’s card is a collage card – which I love to do.  But – it’s still got a lot of open space, so…it’s kind of a clean-and-collage-y card!  And it uses the so-pretty Patterned Pumpkin Thinlits with some help from the Touches of Texture stamp set.  Take a look-see:

As you might have noticed, my “photo booth” has changed up a bit.  We’ll see how this works!

I played along with four challenges on this one – the first, from Hand Stamped Sentiments, inspired the layout.

The Paper Players lent the Fall floral theme…

And…the color scheme from the Fab Friday challenge worked perfectly for the theme!

Finally – the Global Design Project was looking for Grateful-themed cards…

I started with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  Using the large splatter image in the Touches of Texture stamp set, I stamped it twice in Fresh Fig ink.  I didn’t re-ink between the stamps, either.  Then I matted the panel on Tranquil Tide and Cajun Craze card stock panels with Fast Fuse.

I added a couple of small flowers from Touches of Texture in Cajun Craze, just to add a little more “collage” to the card.

Next up, I punched a set of leaves in Fresh Fig and Tranquil Tide with the new Leaf Punch, and cut a larger set of leaves in Tranquil Tide with the die in the Eclectic Layers Thinlits.  I creased all the leaves a little with my Bone Folder and adhered them with Liquid Glue to the card front.

To make the pumpkin, I cut the large open pumpkin from the Patterned Pumpkin Thinlits a few times – twice in Cajun Craze and once in Copper Foil.  I adhered one of the Cajun Craze Pumpkins to a piece of Cajun Craze card stock and fussy cut the excess (to give me something to glue to).  Then I took the Copper Foil cut-out pieces and laid them in the Seaside TIEF and embossed them.  And then I used Liquid Glue to adhere them inside the pumpkin shape.  I did one more run thru of the Patterned Pumpkins die – just enough to yield a Tranquil Tide stem!

I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment, from All Things Thanks, is stamped in Fresh Fig on a Very Vanilla strip.  I cut banner ends with my Paper Snips, edged the banner with my Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it on with Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final pieces are some Cajun Craze Enamel Shapes and a bow tied with a length of Jute Twine and one of 1/4″ Copper Trim. The Jute Twine piece is the result of separating the three strands that are twisted together to make the Twine.  I adhered the bow with a Glue Dot.

On the inside, I stamped the splatter image from Touches of Texture again in Fresh Fig on a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I adhered the Copper Foil Patterned Pumpkin over that, with the Cajun Craze cut out pieces in the middle.  I ran the die back thru to cut a Tranquil Tide stem and added it as well!

I Fast Fused the panel to a Tranquil Tide and Cajun Craze mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Touches of Textures Fresh Fig splatter and a Cajun Craze pumpkin from the Patterned Pumpkins on the front…

…and a few more Fresh Fig splatters and Cajun Craze flowers from Touches of Texture on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Some Fall-colored florals from the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits, the new Leaf Punch and the Eclectic Layers.  Throw in some Touches of Texture and you’re all set.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Touches of Textures and Orchids for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!  Everybody’s playing today, so be sure to check out all the ladies’ blogs when you get done here!

We had a clean and simple sketch to play with this week.  Check it out.

I played with a new bundle – the Climbing Orchid Bundle in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog.  And I added some Touches of Texture to bring it on home.  Take a look-see:

I got a little help in the color department from the Sunday Stamps challenge this week. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Happy Birthday America!

Well – I’m tickled to say Good Morning to y’all on the Birthday of our great nation!

And – even more tickled to be saying it on a DAY OFF!!! Whoo-hoo!!

Yes – we worked like fools and now have today off!

I hope you have some fun plans – I’m going to a friend’s this afternoon.  Maybe.  If I can move myself to get out of my pajamas.  Want to go.  Want to lie in bed.  Go…Lie in bed…Go…

We’ll see what I decide!

In the meantime, I made a Happy Birthday America card – using the Brushstrokes background stamp.  A little Touches of Texture.  The Happy Birthday Thinlits.  A dab from the Ribbon of Courage – and a sentiment I built with the Brushwork Alphabet set.  Take a look-see:

I played along with a couple of challenges on this one.  Then first is the Fusion Challenge – my Americana stripes and the script-y fonts are from the inspiration photo.

And then I made some “fireworks” to go along with the Cupcake Inspirations challenge!

So.  To start, I made my Americana striped card front.  On a piece of Whisper White card stock, I stamped the Brushstrokes background image in Dapper Denim and Cherry Cobbler.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp directly, alternating stripes.   I SNAILd the panel to a Soft Suede mat (a bit of a nod to the frame in the inspiration photo).

The middle layer is another piece of Whisper White. Using the image in the Touches of Texture stamp set, I stamped it a few times in Versamark on the panel, and sprinkled it with Silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  After I heated those up, I let them cool and then repeated the process a few more times with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder.

That panel is also matted on Soft Suede.  I wrapped a piece of new Dapper Denim 3/8″ Striped Grosgrain Ribbon around the matted panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape, and popped it over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My sentiment is from the Happy Birthday Thinlits.  Man – I just love this die!  I cut it out 4 times – twice in Basic Black and twice in Cherry Cobbler.  Then I adhered them all together in a stack with Liquid Glue.  A little persnickety – but it gives the sentiment super cool depth – that 4th layer is the kicker.  And a heckuva lot easier then cutting oodles of pieces of Stampin’ Dimensionals!

I adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue and the front was done!

On the inside – I started with another panel of Whisper White card stock.  Using the pretty Brushworks Alphabet stamp set, I stamped the word “America” in Dapper Denim.  Then I cut a tiny yellow ribbon from a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock, using one of the fun little dies in the new Support Ribbon Framelits, and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.  Finally, I added a gold Metallic Enamel Shapes star.

I SNAILd the panel to a Soft Suede mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

On the front of my Whisper White Medium Envelope, I stamped the solid ribbon from the Ribbon of Courage stamp set in Daffodil Delight and added another Gold star.  Then I used the Brushwork Alphabet set again, in Dapper Denim…

…and I masked off my envelope flap with sticky notes and repeated the Brushstrokes in Dapper Denim and Cherry Cobbler.

Et Voila!  Happy Birthday, America!  And we’re waiting for all the men and women to come home!  Hope you like.

Stampin’ Up! Label Me Lovely Florals Birthday Card

Hey, y’all!  It’s the weekend!  My last weekend home for a while.  This time next week, I’ll be on my way to Florida.  For a couple of months!

Got a lot to get done between now and then, on top of still working every day.  But today, I’m headed to get my pre-trip hair cut (got to last me until I get home again!) and make a last trip to Costco.  There are no Costco’s in Ft. Walton Beach.  Have to drive about 2 hours to get to one.  Can you imagine??

And when I get home, I have this to tackle….

Yep – it’s Share Cutting Weekend!!  And weeknight….and early mornings…. got to get them all chopped up and in the mail to y’all!! 🙂

Should have been working on that this afternoon – but instead, I was making a card.  Cuz that’s what I really wanted to do!  I used my Label Me Pretty stamp set and a little of the pretty Fresh Florals DSP in Powder Pink.  Take a look-see:

My layout was inspired – although I didn’t do a square card – by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch.

And the color scheme – one of my favorites! – is from the Color Throwdown.

I started with a Powder Pink floral paper from the new Fresh Florals DSP and matted it on Night of Navy (yes, I know – it looks like Black in the picture, but…it’s not!).

The next layer is a piece of Whisper White that I embossed in the Petal Burst TIEF and SNAILd – with the DE-bossed side up – on Night of Navy and then SNAILd to the card front.

For the next strip, I used the other side of the first Fresh Florals DSP paper, SNAILing it to Night of Navy mat and then to the card front.

I wrapped a length of Powder Pink 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon around the whole thing, securing it in the back with some scotch tape.

My sentiment, from the new Label Me Pretty stamp set, is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on a piece of Whisper White and cut out with an oval Stitched Shapes Framelit.  I SNAILd it to a scalloped-edge oval that I’d cut with an Ovals Layering Framelit.  I lightly colored the flowers in the design with Powder Pink ink that I picked up from the lid of my ink pad with a Blender Pen.

I popped the finished sentiment over the ribbon with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Finally, I tied a bow with some more of the Powder Pink 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon and attached it with a Glue Dot – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I enlisted the help of a pretty flower image from the Touches of Texture stamp set, stamping it in Powder Pink in the middle of a Whisper White panel.  When it was completely dry, I heat embossed a single-word-sentimet from… the Beautiful You stamp set…in gold.

I SNAILd the panel to a Night of Navy mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a few more Touches of Texture flowers in Powder Pink across the front…

…and then I added some more of the Powder Pink Fresh Florals DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Isn’t that Label Me Pretty image such a pretty floral sentiment?  Maybe that’s why SU! put “Pretty” in the name!?!  And I think it works perfectly in embossed gold with the Night of Navy and the Fresh Florals DSP!  Hope you like!

Don’t miss out on my Catalog Launch Ordering Special.  You know you’re going to buy all the goodies anyway – might as well get some extra bonus points and free shipping while you’re at it!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Ladies and Gentlemen (assuming there’s at least one gentleman out there!!) – may I introduce….

Michael “Finn” Phelps!!

Yes.  That’s him.  Finn Phelps!

He figured out today why they call it “dog paddling!”

He ended up swimming sort of by accident and then….realized…it was fun!

So he kept going back out and swimming around and around!  And then he’d fly out of the pond to come tell me how much fun swimming is.

And then…back to the pond!

Michael Phelps has the fly.  Finn has the paddle.

And…can Michael bring a stick back in his mouth?

Well, okay.  Probably.  He’s a heckuva swimmer.

But he’s not nearly as cute as my little paddler!!

Okay.  With that out of the way, let’s talk about Finn for half a second.  He’s been growing – I swear he’s bigger than he was two days ago! – and learning.  And chasing the cats – he really just wants to see them but his speed-of-heat galloping is more than they can stand still for!.  And trying to chew any and everything he can find.  And playing ball – and frisbee – and bumper (y’all – I have a new puppy.  Buy stock in PetSmart.  Trust me on this!).  And riding in the golf cart – he’s a farm dog already!

finn-in-the-golf-cart

….and being “turtled” by his dad – this is a good thing to do with puppies, it helps them learn to relax and teaches submission.

wayne-and-finn

He’s gonna be too big to do this in about a minute, huh? 🙂  You can’t hardly even tell that his dad doesn’t like him, can you?!? 😉

And – he’s been cute.  Just ridiculously, overwhelmingly, goofy-ly cute.  Just when I think I’ve seen all his cute things, he’ll do something new.  Like…

goofy-finn

No – he’s not chewing the kennel bars (at least not right at this exact moment!).  He’s resting.  By resting his top teeth and nose on the bars.  Goofy goofy little dog!  This is his “day” crate – where we put him so we can have dinner – I can make a card, or do my “real” work.  Otherwise…it’s chaos.  His “night” crate is about 4 times bigger.  And is in the bedroom at the end of the bed.  I have no intention of spoiling him.  Nothing worse than a spoiled dog.

PetSmart, people.  Pet.  Smart. 🙂

So – my card for today has some recycled elements.  Remember this card from the other day?
october-pp-2-stamps-n-lingers

That’s right – from the October Paper Pumpkin.  Well, the leaves that I punched out to make the windows….I kept them.  Pack-rat, much, Mary?  I mean, heck – there are 24 of them.  And they’re pretty.  So for today, I used them and added a sentiment from One Big Meaning, and a little more color with the Touches of Texture stamp set.  Take a look-see:

one-big-meaning-falling-leaves-4-stamps-n-lingers

I used a sketch challenge from CAS(E) This Sketch – #195   – to be exact, for the design.

cts-195-sketch

And my color palette came courtesy of Pals Paper Arts challenge #323:

ppa-323-sketch

Since all my leaves were already sitting in a tidy little pile – don’t laugh, I have a few tidy places around! – this went together pretty quickly.

For each of my leaves, I used a sponge with Emerald Envy and one with Tangerine Tango.  First I stippled them lightly with each color – stipple means to sort of tap with the sponge (like you do in stenciling).  Then I used the Tangerine Tango sponge to sponge all the edges.  I brushed each of the leaves with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush to give them some sheen, and then rounded them with my stylus.  Some I rounded from the back and some from the front.
one-big-meaning-falling-leaves-3-stamps-n-lingers

On a Very Vanilla panel, I used the large dots image in Touches of Texture.  I stamped once with Tangerine Tango and then again without re-inking.  Then I repeated that with Emerald Envy.

Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped the large sentiment from One Big Meaning in Emerald Envy.

In a bit of a departure from my usual process, I SNAILd the panel to a Tangerine Tango mat and then onto my Tip Top Taupe card base.  I wanted to be able to add the leaves and have them sort of “falling” off the edge of the card front onto the card base.
one-big-meaning-falling-leaves-2-stamps-n-lingers

I arranged the leaves and then used  Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere some and Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere some of the others.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used a Very Vanilla panel matted on Tangerine Tango.  I colored up another of my leaves and adhered it in the corner with Liquid Glue.

one-big-meaning-falling-leaves-5-stamps-n-lingers

I SNAIL it into the card base and the card was done! 🙂

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the Touches of Texture dots in Tangerine Tango and Emerald Envy on the front, as well as another leaf (I have twenty-four of them – I can be generous!)…

one-big-meaning-falling-leaves-6-stamps-n-lingers

…and I repeated that on the envelope flap as well.

one-big-meaning-falling-leaves-7-stamps-n-lingers

Et Voila!  Recycling – it’s not just for aluminum cans and paper, folks!  If you’re a Paper Pumpkin subscriber and you have this October kit – hang on to the leaves – you never know what ideas might come your way!  If you’re not – try the Leaflets Framelits.  Cut them from Very Vanilla and stipple ’em up!  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Textured Basket of Wishes!

Good morning, y’all – happy Sunday!  Today’s going to be fun – we’ve got our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew “business” meeting!  I put it in quotes, cuz – while we do take care of some business, we also eat our lunch and make a few projects.  And it’s really fun to get to be with some of our fellow demonstrators who are lucky enough to be in Amy Koenders’ downline!  I’m always glad when I get to be home when the “in person” meetings are being held!

Wayne made it safely home, a smidge before I got the house as “done” as I’d planned, but…it’s all good!  Good to have him back in the house – even if there’s the usual adjustment period.  Dinner on a schedule, sharing the remote, socks on the coffee table.  Not the ones with his feet in them – the ones he takes off at the end of the day!  It’s his version of dropping his underwear on the floor – which he doesn’t do! LOL.  But, as I said, it’s good to have him home!  I know his mom is missing having him there with her in the rehab center. 🙁

My card for today is a bit of an homage to Fall – cuz I know it’s going to get here soon!  Weather folks on tv say Wednesday.

So…you know that’s gonna happen, right? 😉

I used the pretty Basket of Wishes stamp set from the Holiday catalog and one of my favorite texture sets – Touches of Texture – from the Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-4-stamps-n-lingers
This one plays along with two challenges.  The first is the Viva La Verve sketch challenge – the second challenge for September:

vlvsep2016-sketch
And I also used a Photo Week challenge from Just Us Girls.  Challenge #362:

jugs-362-sketch
I started with a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, which I tore all around the edges.  Then I used the big splattering of tiny dots image from Touches of Texture, stamping it all over in Crumb Cake ink.  Sometimes full strength and sometimes stamping a second time without re-inking.  Then I added the flower image, all over (leaving a blank spot for my sentiment) in Delightful Dijon.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-1-stamps-n-lingers
I cut a piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon – the same length as the card – and used some Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to the panel.

The sentiment, from Basket of Wishes, I stamped in the corner in Early Espresso.

For my art, I matted a small piece of Serene Scenery DSP to a Delightful Dijon mat and popped it over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I cut two pieces with the Swirly Scribbles Thinlits – one in Crumb Cake and one in Cajun Craze.  To give them some texture, I used the same dots image from Touches of Texture and stamped all over the die cuts in Early Espresso ink.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the card.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-2-stamps-n-lingers
The focal art is from Basket of Wishes.  I stamped the basket in Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla, then added the flower bunch in Soft Suede.  I colored the image with my Clear Wink of Stella brush – using Soft Suede on the basket, and Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip, Cajun Craze, and Old Olive on the flowers.  Then I cut it out using a die from the Circles Layering Framelits.

I got the bright idea to make the circle look a little like a sunflower.  So…I punched a flower with my Flower Medallion Punch from a piece of Delightful Dijon.  Then I made some stitches all around the edge of the flower with my Chocolate Chip Stampin’ Write Marker.

I added the circle with some Liquid Glue – and then it seemed like a good idea to add some stitches to that as well, so I did!

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-8-stamps-n-lingers
The final touch – see him up there? – is a little buzz-bee from the….Jar of Love stamp set!  I stamped him with Early Espresso ink on some Vellum card stock, adding some Crushed Curry to his body with my marker and cut him with his little die in the Everyday Jars Framelit set.  Then I used my Fine-Tip Glue Pen to add him to the basket – and the card front was done!

It’s mounted a little differently than usual – I SNAILd a panel of Delightful Dijon to my Crumb Cake card base – then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-3-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I tore the edges of another piece of Crumb Cake card stock.  Then I stamped around the edges with the Touches of Texture in Crumb Cake.  In the middle, I stamped the flower image, in Delightful Dijon – stamping off twice before I stamped the card.

Then I SNAILd it to a Delightful Dijon mat and into my Crumb Cake card base.  And that was it!

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-5-stamps-n-lingers
On my Crumb Cake Medium Envelope, I stamped more of the Touches of Texture flower in Delightful Dijon on the front…

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and then I borrowed an idea from my friend and downline Beth Hooper (check her card out here!), and added the little flower image from Basket of Wishes to the envelope flap.

textures-and-basket-of-wishes-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  This one has a lot going on, but I think it works!  I love Touches of Texture for all the possibilities it gives you.  And, of course, Basket of Wishes is just flat beautiful! Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here with a Flourish!

Welcome back, folks – hope you enjoyed the Weekend Time Warp!  We actually had rain on Sunday!  It was wonderful – a little more than had been predicted, along with some lightning.  We sure do need it.  We could really use it every day for a week straight!

So here’s a thing.  You guys know I’ve been talking – sort of obscurely – about a dog.  You know we lost our guy last summer.  You know my hubby isn’t ready for another dog.

But, here’s the thing – I found one at a rescue that I thought might just be perfect!  He’s a 6 year old Aussie named Roy.  Wayne actually said – Ok – when I told him I wanted to get some more info.

My foot’s in the door, folks! I sent the application in – it was the only way to get said more info.

Then I went to dinner at my friend’s house.  And got an e-mail from the rescue.  Roy’s being adopted this weekend.

Waaaaahhhh.  I didn’t even know I wanted him until yesterday and now I’m super bummed cuz I can’t have him.  Waaaaaahhhhh! 🙁 🙁 🙁

I guess I just have to keep looking.  Foot – in door!

Now – my card for today.  It’s another sympathy card for my friend – the one I made last weekend (as I suspected) didn’t answer the mail.  She really really wanted the Sitting Here swing on the card.  That’s a really popular image, don’t you know?  So – I made another stab at it, with her requested sentiments from the Better Together stamp set.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Pretty Kitty Happy Birthday

Happy Friday, y’all! Are any of you planning to go see Independence Day: Resurgence this weekend? I’m hoping to go – I’ll miss Will Smith, but Jeff Goldblum is always fun! And it’ll be in 3-D iMax – which is the bestest way to see these kinds of movies. With some popcorn and a slushy! 😉

Now, when you see today’s card you’re probably going to think I’ve forgotten that I used Touches of Texture to make fireworks just a couple of days ago. But I haven’t! I played with a challenge today that pretty much demanded fireworks so….

Today I combined it with a stamp set I hadn’t played with yet – called Pretty Kitty. And I added some pretty Playful Palette DSP paper and some Labeler Alphabet. Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Touches of Texture For the 4th of July!

Okay – so….were you guys laughing at me yesterday?  Behind my back?  Did you think “oh, that woman is so goofy”?

Why didn’t any of you tell me that yesterday wasn’t HAWMP day at all?!?  It was TUESDAY!! 🙁

As I got ready to write this post I read the morning’s post again – I realized I was typing the post on Tuesday evening, which means that it couldn’t possibly be hawmp day!  Sheesh – I must be losing my head!  😉

Today (the actual HAWMP day!), I made a card with one of the cooler new stamp sets – Touches of Texture.  Now, you might think that – what with Gorgeous Grunge and Timeless Textures, we might have enough textural stamp sets.  But – this one is different entirely.  Well, maybe not entirely, but it’s definitely different enough that it’s a great tool to have in your stash.  So, I combined it with Number of Years and the Large Number Framelits and this is what I came up with!  Take a look-see:

Touches of Texture 4th of July 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Now, I played along with two challenges on this one.  The first is a color challenge and it’s what herded me towards a 4th of July card.  Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge #242: Continue reading

HappyStampersBlogPostBanner-2
Mornin’, y’all –  welcome to another edition of the Happy Stampers Blog Hop.  This week is a color challenge – check it out!

June 16
I’ve discovered a crafter truism.  There’s nothing better than a whole bunch of new toys to play with.  And, there’s nothing worse than a whole bunch of new toys to play with!  I have so many goodies – and more coming! – that I want to play with, it’s just really hard narrowing it down.  But I managed to pick…three….for today’s card.  The main player is the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, with some Touches of Texture thrown in.  And some Brushwork Alphabet to round out the line-up.  All mixed with a little Playful Palette DSP.  Take a look-see:
