Happy Monday, y’all! Don’t know if you’re in a re-opening state or still in a state-of-self-isolation, but… I hope your week is shaping up to be a good one! Are you planning a Cinco De Mayo celebration? 🙂
My card today is one I hate having to make. My friend from work (pre-retirement!) lost his sweet German Shepherd Jenna last weekend. He was, understandably, pretty down in the dumps. So…I figured I’d send them a card and a little gift. I pulled out the retiring Happy Tails stamp set, added a Stitched Be Mine heart and set it all atop some retiring Pressed Petals Specialty DSP. Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge.

And – it fits well with the Addicted to CAS Code Word challenge!

So – I started with a piece of wood pattern paper in the gorgeous Pressed Petals Specialty DSP (you guys – this wonderful paper is leaving us and is only available while supplies last – don’t miss a chance to get another pack in your stash!). I added a strip of the burlap design on the right side with some Liquid Glue. Then I matted it on Basic Black for the card front.

I wrapped a length of 3/8″ Denim Ribbon (this is sticking around for another year – YEAH!!) around the seam – securing it in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.
I stamped the sentiment from Happy Tails in Night of Navy on another piece of burlap paper and cut it out with one of the hearts in the Stitched Be Mine die set.
With my Journaling Pen, I made a doodle-dot-dash border around the edge of the heart – then popped it onto the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

With the Dog Builder Punch (which IS carrying over!), I punched a Basic Black dog (I know – not a GSD….best I could do!!) and adhered him with a combination of Liquid Glue and Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Also using the Dog Builder Punch, I punched a little Terracotta Tile heart and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.

I tied a denim ribbon bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot – and that finished off the card front!
On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Happy Tails in Night of Navy on a Very Vanilla panel. I added the paw print in Terracotta Tile right over the word “heart”.

Get it? Paw print ON your heart?
Oh – check the gift…

Car Magnet. See a theme?! 🙂
I added some more Terracotta Tile pawprints, then adhered the panel to a Basic Black panel and into my Terracotta Tile card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the paw prints on the front…

…and some burlap paper – with more paw prints! – on the envelope flap.

Et Voila! I am sorry to see Happy Tails leave us – it’s perfect for this kind of need, don’t you think? And Keep Calm and Wag On isn’t too shabby for this time in the world, either, is it??

And there aren’t enough superlatives for the Pressed Petals Specialty DSP – if you don’t have some – get it RIGHT NOW. If you have some, get MORE. RIGHT NOW!! Just sayin!

I hope you like!
