Stampin’ Up! Background Bits Sneak Peek for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! We’ve got a sketch to play with this week and I know all our ladies have made some beautiful projects for you.  Y’all be sure to hop thru all their blogs when you get done here! 🙂

Here’s the sketch…

I’ll be honest here, folks – I spent a fair bit of time sitting at my craft table trying to figure out what the heck to do with this one.  It for sure wasn’t one of those that I “saw” as soon as I looked at the sketch.  But – I finally decided to use the new Background Bits Host stamp set in the new Annual Catalog.  And I paired it up with some of the new Color Theory DSP.  Take a look-see:

Once I sort of got a picture in my head, it went together pretty quickly.  I started by SNAILing a piece of Whisper White card stock to a Tranquil Tide mat for the card front.

The bottom square of my stack is a piece of the Dapper Denim paper in the Color Theory DSP Stack, cut with a Stitched Shapes square die and matted on a scalloped edge Tranquil Tide square, cut with the Squares Layering Framelits.  It’s SNAILd to the card front.

For the angled panel, I stamped the floral background image in the Background Bits stamp set in Tranquil Tide twice on a piece of Whisper White and then cut it out with my trimmer.  I sponged the edges in Dapper Denim and then adhered it over the layered square with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the single flower image from Background Bits twice in Basic Black Archival Ink on another piece of Dapper Denim paper from the Color Theory DSP Stack and then cut it with a Stitched Shapes circle die.  I used a little Liquid Glue to adhere it to a Tranquil Tide scalloped circle and then popped it over the layers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The final layer is my sentiment.  I inked the sentiment from Background Bits in Versamark and stamped it on a piece of the same paper as my art circle.  I sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  I snipped one end in a banner and then, to mimic a mat, I sponged the edges of the banner with Dapper Denim.  It’s adhered with Liquid Glue.  I added a few Pearl Basic Jewel Embellishments and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp a second sentiment from Background Bits in Dapper Denim on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  Across the bottom, I stamped the multiple flower image in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Then I used my Dapper Denim Stampin’ Write Marker to color in the white accents in the flowers.

I SNAILd the panel to a Tranquil Tide mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Basic Black Background Bits flowers (colored in with Dapper Denim) across the front…

…and then I added more of the Dapper Denim Color Theory DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It took me a minute to come up with an idea, but once I got rolling…I really like how clean and simple it turned out.  Background Bits is a lovely little stamp set – available exclusively with Stampin’ Rewards!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! At Home With You Sneak Peek!

Happy Hawwmp Day, y’all!

We had a few big things happen today.  Ready?  Okay.  Here we go.

Wayne saw the first king/rat snake of the year!  Whoo-hoo!  We were afraid maybe they’d been culled out by the hawks.  Mice – your days are numbered! 🙂

Wayne also got a clean bill of health from the GI doc – all the labs and tests they did during his surgery came back negative!  Whoo-hooo-hoooo!!!

And finally – and this is YUGE! – we found a Vietnamese restaurant close enough for us to actually go to – and we went there!  And it was good – and a nice/safe/clean place to eat!

Oh my goodness, y’all!  I’m tickled to death over this!

I was so happy (and full!) that I came home and played with a new stamp set and framelits.  The At Home With You bundle!  I paired it up with some Color Theory and Wood Textures DSP.  Take a look-see:

There’s a little surprise on the front…

Right?  The sentiments in the At Home With You are sized and meant to go “inside” the door!  And there are two dies that work together in the At Home Framelits to create the opening door!

I started with a piece of Crushed Curry paper from the Color Theory DSP stack and SNAILd it to a Tranquil Tide mat.  I think it looks like stucco!

Next, I stamped the door image in Early Espresso on a piece of the Wood Textures DSP and cut it with the dies in the At Home Framelits.  The only trick here is to be sure the non-cutting (in other words – the creasing side!!) of the door die is on the correct side of the image!

I also cut the door outline die from a piece of Whisper White card stock.  In order to get the inside sentiment aligned correctly, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to get it stamped in the right spot.  I inked the sentiment from the At Home With You stamp set in Tranquil Tide, and added it to the Whisper White “door”.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the door to the white piece and then onto the card front.

I inked two lanterns from the set in Versamark and stamped them on Whisper White, sprinkled them with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed them.  I cut them out with their matching dies in the At Home Framleits, then I popped them on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I colored the tops of the lanterns with the Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker, and the candle flame with Daffodil Delight.

I made the wreath and two flower pots – stamping the wreath in Old Olive and the pots in Early Espresso.  I colored the flowers in Powder Pink, Berry Burst, Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight and the leaves in Old Olive.

I popped the flower pots on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and then filled the pots in with Crumb Cake.

For the wreath – I cut two more wreath shapes in Whisper White and adhered them all together with Liquid Glue then added it to the door with Liquid Glue.

For the door sign, I stamped the sign outline in Soft Suede and “Hello” – both in the At Home With You stamp set – in Soft Suede.  The sentiment is stamped in Tranquil Tide.  I cut it with its die and adhered it with Liquid Glue.  I finished it off with a tiny Linen Thread bow.

Finally, the welcome mat is inked with my Soft Suede and Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write Markers.  I stamped it on Whisper White, cut it with its die and adhered it with Liquid Glue.

On the inside, I stamped a second At Home With You sentiment in Tranquil Tide on a panel of Whisper White.  Then I stamped the wreath in Old Olive – I covered part of the image with a small piece of tape.  Then I colored the flowers and leaves just like I’d done on the front of the card.

I added a little Linen Thread bow, SNAILd the panel to a Tranquil Tide mat and into my Daffodil Delight card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another At Home With You wreath…

…and I put some more of the Color Theory DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  No – really.  Et.  Voila!  I know it looks hard cuz it took a lot of words to say what I did.  But…it really wasn’t.  Just took a lot of words!  This At Home With You bundle is a ton of fun – with lots of sentiments and images for you to ensure that your card’s curb appeal is ready for any occasion.  Hope you like and are adding this one to your wish list!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Perhaps you’ve heard the old saying for new mom’s – sleep when the baby sleeps?

Well – apparently that’s true for dog-moms, too.  (Definitely not the most flattering pic of mom.  Thanks, Wayne!)

The question is, though – how does the dog-mom saying go?  Is the Mom sleeping when the puppy is sleeping?

Or…is the Puppy sleeping when the mom sleeps.

He has two favorite places to be.  Well – three if you count my lap!

One is under my craft table! 🙂

The other is under my recliner.  So far under that it’s hard to see him.

I think he thinks it’s a cave.

I just have to say it again.

He’s ridiculously cute and sweet.

M

P.S.  No.  I haven’t squished him yet.  I’ve gotten so used to him being there that I always locate him before I put the foot rest down!

Stampin’ Up! Wood Textures and Trees for the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Team Blog Hop!

Mornin’, y’all!  Welcome to another edition of the Amy’s Inkin’ Krew Blog Hop!  This month, our theme is “Father’s Day or Masculine”.  I’m looking forward to seeing what all our talented ladies come up with – and hope you’ll spend some time exploring the hop when you’re done here!

I opted for a thank you card for our dog-trainer friend who helped me out with Finn last week!  He came over and essentially did almost 2 hours of private lesson/training with us, and then wouldn’t let us pay him a dime.  So…I figured a good handmade card – with an outdoorsy theme – would be just the thing.  I used some Lovely as a Tree images, with a little Woodland TIEF and Thankful Thoughts sentiments, on top of some new Wood Textures DSP.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of the new (coming on 1 June) Wood Textures DSP and matted it on Crushed Curry for the card front.  The middle panel is Very Vanilla and I stamped the pine tree from the Lovely as a Tree stamp set in Always Artichoke.  I stamped it once and then again without re-inking, then inked up again for the third image.  Then I sponged the edges of the panel with some more Always Artichoke.

I SNAILd it to a Crushed Curry mat and then onto the card front.

For the small square, I ran a little square of Copper Foil thru the Big Shot in the Woodland TIEF, matted it on Crushed Curry and then SNAILd it to the card front.

For a little bit of oomph, I wrapped a piece of the new 1/4″ Copper Trim (1 June) around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

I stamped a sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts set in Always Artichoke on a strip of Very Vanilla card stock.  I made banner ends with my Paper Snips, edged it with my Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish off the card front, I tied a bow with two lengths of 1/4″ Copper Trim and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

The inside of the card started with a Very Vanilla panel.  Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I stamped another Lovely as a Tree pine in Always Artichoke.  I stamped it off three times before stamping my panel.  Then I added a second Thankful Thoughts sentiment in Always Artichoke, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position it where I needed it.

I SNAILd the panel onto a Crushed Curry mat and into my Always Artichoke card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a couple more Lovely as a Tree pines – I stamped it twice without re-inking, and then added some “ground” with my Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Marker…

…and then I added a little more of the Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think this will be perfect for a man who spends most of his life in the great outdoors with his dogs, don’t you?  And – I think it shows yet another way that the Wood Textures DSP is going to be a wild crowd favorite this SU! year!!  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Eastern Palace Sneak Peek Thank You Card!

Good Monday morning to y’all!  Didn’t go to the movie yesterday – we’d forgotten about the obedience class at 3!  No way to make it happen.  So we stayed home and did some chores – we’ll go next weekend!

Today is the last day of my Eastern Palace Ordering Special!  Order the Premium Eastern Palace Bundle before the end of the day and you’re going to get a few extra bonuses!  You can read on down the way a bit for all the details.  But the most important one is that time is almost up!

To help you decide that you need to get this set soon, I made another card using several of the goodies included.  Take a look-see:

The layout is inspired by the Sunday Stamps sketch challenge.

I started by SNAILing a piece of the Fresh Fig paper from the Eastern Palace Specialty DSP onto a piece of Tranquil Tide card stock mat.  I SNAILd a smaller, different, design on Tranquil Tide and SNAILd it to the card front.

The art work is cut from Very Vanilla card stock (regular weight).  I used three of the nesting dies from the Eastern Medallion Thinlits and then I cut the medallion out with the largest of the scalloped dies in the Circles Layering Framelits.

Using the little three-dot image in the Eastern Beauty stamp set, I added the little embellishments in Lemon-Lime Twist.  And I added the little dotted circle image, too, also in Lemon-Lime Twist.

I made a mat for the medallion by cutting another of the largest scallop circles in the Circles Layering Framelits from a piece of Fresh Fig card stock.  When I glued the medallion to the mat, I offset the scallops so that the mat would be visible.  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals (on the right side) and Liquid Glue (on the left side) and adhered it over the card front.

My sentiment, from Eastern Beauty, is stamped in Fresh Fig on Very Vanilla.  I inked one word at a time and stamped them in a single line (the actual image has the sentiment on two lines).  I covered the other word with a sticky note.

I cut the sentiment out with the small banner die from the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  Then I cut a second banner from Lemon-Lime Twist card stock and used the “frame” portion for my sentiment.  I adhered both the sentiment and the frame to a piece of scrap Very Vanilla card stock with Liquid Glue – that gave them something to hold the two pieces together.  Then I popped it over the medallion with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added the three-dot image in Lemon-Lime Twist in the corners of a Very Vanilla panel.  I stamped it three times in each corner.

I matted the panel on a piece of Tranquil Tide card stock and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base (this is new – and available as a freebie in the Eastern Palace Premim Bundle!!).  Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done! 🙂

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Eastern Beauty three-dot images in the corners…

…and some more of the Eastern Palace Specialty DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This Eastern Palace is such a versatile Suite – I love all the combinations you can put together with the Eastern Medallion Thinlits!  You can even make a doily with them!  I hope you like – and will be grabbing up the Eastern Palace Premium Bundle today!  Remember – these special bundles will NOT be available again when the catalog goes live on 1 June.  So…if you don’t get it today, be SURE to get it before the end of the month, okay??  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Well, as I said first off, we didn’t go to the movie cuz we remembered obedience class was at 3 – no way to do the noon movie and get back.

So – Wayne and Finn did a little yard work!

Actually, as I look at the picture, I’m not really sure that Finn is DOing yard work as much as he is UNdoing yard work!  But – it looked like they were having fun!

Later he and I went to obedience class.  He was – once again – the teacher’s pet.  The one that did everything first.  Including a new game!

These are practice weave poles – the dogs are supposed to wind their way thru the poles.

We taught this using a treat in one hand.

Guess who’s mom was the only one with treats in her pocket??

I was pretty popular!

And – now Wayne has another thing on his to-build list!! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Delightful Daisy Video Sneak Peek

Mornin’, y’all!  Having a good weekend??  I hope so.  We did some mowing yesterday – I rode the small zero-turn mower and Wayne worked the skid steer mower.  Everything looks so pretty when it’s all mowed and fresh looking.  And it smells so good!

We’re headed to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol II today – I’ve heard great things about it already!  I’m even going to splurge and have popcorn! 🙂

So – tonight, on my Facebook Live video, we’re going to do two things.  First I’m going to spend a few minutes talking about the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig and showing you how to use it.  Had a request, so that’s what we’re going to do!  Then, I’ll walk you thru a very pretty, springy Mother’s Day card using my favorite new Suite – the Delightful Daisy Suite!  Here’s a teaser…

Yep – you see a little peek of an Eastern Medallion!  Fun, huh?

You’ll see that I played with two challenges on this one.  The first inspired the layout and my choice of DSP.  That one’s the Sugar Pea Designs Mix It Up Challenge.

And the Mother’s Day theme is from the Just Us Girls Word Week challenge.

So – hope you can join me tonight – right here – at 8pm Eastern!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Did you guys watch the Derby yesterday?

I’ve vowed to boycott it, but every year we end up watching.

I’m married to a former jockey, so…interest is high.

This is how we watch the Derby here.  He’s usually exhorting one or the other jocks to push, “quit whoopin’ on him and ride”, go around, better get movin’ or some other sage advice.

He also can usually pick the winner before they’re half way down the back stretch.

It’s actually a pretty fun way to watch the race!

Finn cared not one whit.

He was more interested in me stuffing his treat ball with freeze dried liver chunks.

Seriously – I thought he was going to fall over he was tilting his head so far!!  I think he was counting how many I was stuffing in there.

He’s kind of a goofus.

Stampin’ Up! Feathery Friends Sneak Peek

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Winter appears to be making one last ditch effort to freeze us out here in GA.

Well – freeze may be a bit of an over-statement.  It was 44 here on Friday.  But compared to the almost-90 two days before….it feels like winter! Windows closed again, heat instead of A/C.

I kind of rebelled and did a spring-y card with a new Host-Exclusive set called Feathery Friends.  I showed this one on my Facebook Live video yesterday.

Oh – you didn’t see it?  Well….that might be cuz I screwed up and did it on my personal page instead of my Stamps-N-Lingers business page.  Sheesh, Mare….

If you missed it – and would like to see the goodies in my second pre-order box, you can see it right here on YouTube….

Anywho – check out a super simple, single stamp set card from Feathery Friends.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by the challenge this week at CAS(E) This Sketch.

And I used the color combination from the TGIF color challenge.

I started with a Very Vanilla panel and heat embossed the Feathery Friends flower image in Copper.

Then I used a combination of Blender Pens (picking up ink from the lids of my ink cases) and Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image in Emerald Envy, Crushed Curry and Flirty Flamingo.

Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added the sentiment (which I absolutely love!!) from Feathery Friends in Flirty Flamingo.

To finish off the card front, I added a few Crushed Curry Glitter Enamel Dots and SNAILd the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat.

I really hemmed and hawed – cuz I wanted to use the bird image on the front – even heat embossed one of the birds in copper and fussy cut him!  But I decided to leave the floral image as the main event on the front and add the bird on the inside.

I heat embossed him in Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder in the corner of a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I colored him with my Crushed Curry and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Markers.

I SNAILd the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into my Emerald Envy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Copper-Embossed Feathery Friends bird on the front…

…and then I heat embossed in Copper a few of the other flower images in the Feathery Friends stamp set on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the images in this stamp set – they’re fun to color and oh-so-pretty!  Hope you like!

We were only allowed to pick two out of the six Host Sets in the new Annual Catalog and it was a very hard choice!  But I settled on this one and the Background Bits stamp set (be sure to watch the video to get a glimpse of that one!).  Of course – you guys could also be having to make this hard decision….join me right now, and you can fill your Starter Kit with goodies from our pre-order!!  Give me a shout here – and let me get you hooked up! 🙂

You’ve only got 3 more days to take advantage of my Eastern Palace Ordering Special!  Don’t miss out!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Today, Finn had a visitor.

Who brought hot dogs cut up into little pieces.

We asked a dog trainer friend of ours to come help us learn how to use an electronic collar with Finn.  We wanted to be sure we were training him correctly with the collar.

So – let’s be clear, cuz I can hear you all gasping in horror and shock and getting ready to un-subscribe to the dog-abuser’s blog!

The collar has multiple settings.

On “1” – which is where we use it, I can’t feel it at all.

I thought it wasn’t working.

But – Finn feels it – and can hear the tiny hum, I suppose.  And it annoys him.

The purpose of training him is to teach him how to turn the annoying hum off.

Answer?  Come back.  When you come back – the humming stops.

Instantly.

That’s an artifact from training horses.  Apply some pressure and instantly remove it when they make even the slightest attempt to do what you need them to do.  And a horse learns it pretty quickly.  An Aussie will learn it at the speed of heat.

So please.  Don’t hate me.  Don’t unsubscribe.

We’re doing this to ensure that the single most important command in any dog’s repertoire (COME or HERE!) will be obeyed every time.

No mater what.

It could save his life one day.

Learning it, though, is hard work.

This is him right after we got done.  He can hardly keep his eyes open.

I’m flopped in the chair.

It’s hard work for mom, too.  And I didn’t even get hot dogs!! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Crafting Forever Do Something Crafty

Mornin’, y’all!  It’s the end of the week again!  Whoo-hoo!

Don’t forget about my Eastern Palace Ordering Special – going on thru 8 May (which is Monday!).  Don’t miss out on Double Peppermint points and more.  More details are down below!

My card today uses the Crafting Forever stamp set from the new catalog.  This is the second time I’ve played with it – it’s just so cute!  This time I combined it with some of the new Fresh Florals DSP Stack.  Take a look-see:

Yep – no sentiment on the front.  Decided to try something wild and crazy!

My layout is inspired by the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.

And the color scheme is from the Color Throwdown this week.

I started by running a Whisper White panel thru the new Oh My Stars TIEF (avail 1 June!) for the card front.

Next, I stamped the Crafting Forever pot of paint brushes on a piece of Whisper White in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Then I placed the card stock near the edge of my Big Shot platform and set my Circles Layering Framelit die so that it would only cut a partial circle.

I ran it thru the Big Shot and then fussy cut the brushes – resulting in the image you see on the card.  Half circle…half fussy cut! 🙂

Then I used my Bermuda Bay, Wisteria Wonder and Powder Pink Stampin’ Write Marker (this one is available on 1 June) and colored the art tools.  I used some Smoky Slate to color the bristles.  And I decided to add a few faux stitches with my Basic Black marker while I was at it.

I cut a piece of Powder Pink paper from the Fresh Florals DSP Stack and SNAILd it to the card front.  Over that is a shorter piece of Bermuda Bay 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon (1 June), adhered with some Liquid Glue.

I used a scalloped edge die from the Circles Layering Framelits to cut a Wisteria Wonder mat and SNAILd it over the paper and ribbon.  Then I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop my brushes over the top.

For the final touch, I stamped the Crafting Forever image in Basic Black ink on a piece of Powder Pink Fresh Florals DSP and fussy cut just the pot.  Then I adhered it over the stamped image with some Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I used the marker-to-rubber technique to color the words on a second sentiment from Crafting Forever using Wisteria Wonder and Bermuda Bay markers, and stamped it on a Whisper White panel.  I also added part of the brushes image in Basic Black Archival Ink and colored them with the same markers I’d used on the front.  To make the pot, I once again stamped the image on the Powder Pink paper and cut just that part out – then I adhered it to the panel and trimmed the excess with my snips.

I SNAILd the panel to a Wisteria Wonder mat and into my Powder Pink card base.  Then I SNAILd a Wisteria Wonder mat to the front of the card, popped my card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Crafting Forever brushes image – colored and pieced just like the others – on the front…

…and the envelope flap got some more of the Powder Pink Fresh Florals DSP.

Et Voila!  I sort of like the simplicity of the no-sentiment card front.  Not sure I’ll do a bunch of them, but…I like how this one turned out.  Crafting Forever is just such a fun stamp set for us, don’t you think?  I hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

The Finn-ster had a play date with his sister the other day.

And we practiced a little obedience while we were there.

But mostly they did a lot of playing!!

And there was a little standing-over-the-top-of-my-sister…

On top of that, they had a little face-to-face with Maybelle.

Maybelle is my friend’s little cow.  She’s part Angus and part Brahma.  And she’ll die of old age at Jan’s house.  She gets fly-sprayed, brushed and walked every day.  And has an entire pasture full of grass and a pond.  And a little shed.

It’s pretty much cow-heaven.

Finn wasn’t too sure that Maybelle was a real thing.  He knew she was “real” – just wasn’t too sure what she was….she smelled funny, sounded funny and looked funny.

We don’t need one of those at our house, Mom.

Whatever “those” are….

Stampin’ Up! Lovely Friends And Daisies for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Happy Thursday, y’all – and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop! If you’ve been following along, you’ll know this is color week!  I know all our ladies have made some beautiful projects for you, so be sure to hop thru all their blogs when you get done here! 🙂

Here’s our color scheme…

I decided to use a sentiment from the new (coming to you on 1 June!) Lovely Friends stamp set and combine it with its matching die set – the Lovely Laurel Thinlits – and some of my fave Delightful Daisy DSP.  Take a look-see:

I also played along with the Tic-Tac-Toe challenge over at The Paper Players.

I started with a piece of Calypso Coral design paper in the Delightful Daisy DSP.  I was a little worried it would be too busy – and it was with just the sentiment!! – but it worked well once all the flowers were on.

I inked up the large sentiments from the Lovely Friends stamp set in Versamark and stamped it on the DSP panel.  Then I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  I SNAILd the panel to an Early Espresso card stock mat.

I got busy with the two pretty little flowers in the Lovely Friends stamp set.  Both of them are two-step stamps.  Using So Saffron and Calypso Coral, I made several of each size flower in a variety of combinations to make a whole flower shop’s worth of flowers!  Some of the first step (the fill in) were done with stamped-off-once ink.  There’s no particular rhyme or reason to the flowers – I just had fun with the stamps!!  On the flowers where I did tone-on-tone, I used my So Saffron and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers to help darken the detailed stamped image.  And then I cut them all out with their matching die in the Lovely Laurel Thinlits.

Before I started sticking flowers on the card front, I used a length of Linen Thread and one of Copper Metallic Thread and wound a few loops on the card front – using a Glue Dot to adhere the loop – in the bottom left and upper right corners.  Then I started adding the flowers.  Some are adhered with Liquid Glue and some are popped on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a little bow with the Linen Thread and Copper Metallic Thread and adhered it on the flower in the upper lefthand corner with a little Liquid Glue.  Then I adhered the ends of the threads under the flowers in the other corners with more Glue Dots.  I wanted it to look like the tails of the bow were looped under the other flowers!

I finished the card front off with some Copper Foil leaves cut with the Lovely Laurel Thinlits tucked under the flowers, some tiny Pearl Basic Jewels Embellishments in the small flowers and a few Enamel Shapes in So Saffron and Calypso Coral in the large flowers.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Lovely Friends in Early Espresso on a Whisper White panel.  Then I stamped some more of the Lovely Friends flowers in So Saffron and Calypso Coral.  I made a couple of sticky note masks so that I could build some depth.  I added some of the Enamel Shapes to these flowers as well!

I SNAILd the panel to an Early Espresso mat and into my So Saffron card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Lovely Friends flowers on the front…

…and I added a little more of the Delightful Daisy DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This sentiment from Lovely Friends is big, bold and beautiful – and looks awesome in the Copper embossing, don’t you think?  And – like I’d hoped – the pretty flowers strewn about helped to quiet the kind of busy DSP!  Hope you like – and are adding these goodies to your with lists!

Finn-Fan Fix…

I didn’t realize exactly what he was trying to tell me the other night with this look….

We were putting the girls out to spend the night stuffing their faces and tucking Bo in his bedroom with the rest of his dinner.

Finn pulls up in front of me…

When we got back in the house, I went back to writing a blog post and Wayne hit the shower.

Finn is with me in the living room while I type away.  He climbs the steps next to my chair and puts his hand on my leg.  And whines.

I say….no, Finn-y, we can’t do that, Mom’s gotta to work.  Not sure why I refer to myself in the third person…?

Wayne hears me and says – come on in here, Finn!

Surprisingly….he goes! 👀😮

He was – apparently! – ready for bed.  Too hot.  Too tired.  Just needed his house, his two mini-milk-bone go-to-bed treats, and the fan pointed on him.

By the time I got done, he was sawing lags.

Sometimes the great weariness just overcomes a kid and he just has to go to bed.

Know what I mean?

Stampin’ Up! Better Together With Sunshine Wishes

Mornin’, y’all!  Hope your week is going well!

Before we get to the card – let me remind you of the Ordering Special I’ve got going on right now.  I’ve put some info down below – bottom line:  you’ve got until Monday, 8 May to cash in by ordering the Premier Eastern Palace Bundle thru my Online Store!

So my card for today is another sympathy card – this time for a friend of my friends’ parents.  He recently lost his Jack Russel Terrier.  I don’t know much about the gentleman, but I suspect he lived alone with his dog in the retirement community.  So – doubly sad.  And it meant I needed a card masculine enough to suit a man, but sentimental enough to suit the occasion.

Now – I don’t have a stamp for every breed of dog, so I can’t completely personalize a card.  But, I pulled out the sleeping dog in the Sitting Here stamp set, combined it with a little bit of Sunshine Wishes die cuts and new Wood Textures DSP.  The Better Together stamp set lent the sentiments.  Take a look-see:

I started with a piece of the Wood Textures DSP Stack paper and, using the sleeping dog image in the Sitting Here stamp set, I stamped the dog all over the panel in Soft Suede ink that I stamped off once on scrap paper before I stamped the panel.

One might say it was…ghosted.

Bad form, Mary.  Bad form.

Then I inked up the sentiment from Better Together with Versamark Ink and, using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to position it, stamped it in the bottom corner.  I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed it.

I used the heart die in the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set to cut a heart from a piece of white-washed DSP in the Wood Textures stack and one from Copper Foil.

Next I made my embellishment from a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and one of new 1/4″ Copper Trim (avail 1 June).  I folded both pieces over once, layered the Copper Trim on the Burlap and stapled them together with my Handheld Stapler.  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere the ribbons to the panel.

I used more Liquid Glue to adhere my two Sunshine Wishes hearts to the panel over the ribbon.  Finally, I made a small bow from the 1/4″ Copper Trim and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  I SNAILd the panel to a Copper Foil mat and the card front was done!

On the inside, I used a piece of the whitewashed paper in the Wood Textures Stack as my inner liner, stamping a second sentiment from Better Together in Soft Suede in the middle.  Down in the corner, I stamped my Sitting Here dog in Chocolate Chip, covered him with a sticky note mask that I’d carefully stored in my stamp case for just such an occasion, and stamped his dog bed over top with Soft Suede.  I used my Sahara Sand and So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers to color the bed, and added some JRT-like spots on the dog with my Soft Suede Marker.

I SNAILd the panel to my Copper Foil Mat and into my….no.  Wait.  What I did next was use my Heat Tool to loosen up the SNAIL so I could pull the panel off the mat.  Cuz….I’d made a portrait inner liner for my landscape card. 👀

I pulled it off, re-did the inner liner (the right way this time!), SNAILd it to it’s Copper Foil mat and into a Tranquil Tide card base (avail right now in the Eastern Palace Premier Bundle!!).  Then I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got my Sitting Here JRT-like dog on the front…

…and I added a bit more of the whitewash Wood Textures DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think – hope! – this will fill the bill.  I discovered that a card to express sympathy for the loss of pet – for a MAN – is a lot harder than I expected.  Hope he likes it – and I hope you like it, too!

Finn-Fan Fix…

I’m pretty sure he’s checking that Bo’s stall is latched.

Or he’s asking him “Why the long face?”

Either is equally plausible. 😏
