Stampin’ Up! Feathery Friendly Tabs & Squares!

Happy Long-Weekend, y’all!  Hope wherever you are will give you a lovely weekend to enjoy outdoors – and not surface-of-the-sun hot, either!  And, please, while you’re preparing for your family picnics and parties on Monday – take a moment to remember the folks still fighting the good fight so we can enjoy our weekend in safety and peace.

So, the other day, when I made the sponged squares card, I actually got about 1/4 of a way thru the card I’m sharing with y’all today.  I had a concept in my head, but…it really needed a few extra colors (remember the sponged window card was working a Green/Gray/White color challenge.  You can see that one right here if you didn’t get to see it before.)  I finally gave up on it – at some point in the day, you have to cut your losses and drive on.  Or do your blog post at midnight! 😉

But – I held on to the squares I’d stamped and cut.  I was using the Host-exclusive stamp set called Feathery Friends and a little of the new Fresh Florals DSP Stack.  When I went to finish it, I added a few sentiment images from the new Tabs For Everything stamp set to make a pretty little card for y’all.  Take a look-see:

This sketch, from the CAS-ual Fridays blogspot, is one I’d been intrigued with since I saw it.

And I figured I’d play along with the Stamp Ink Paper challenge, too.  I mean – I’m a Card Maker.  And this was my choice, so… 🙂

To begin, I stamped the pretty little flower from the Feathery Friends stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink on Whisper White and cut it with the smallest Stitched Shapes square die (that’s about 1 1/8″ square).  I matted each square on a scalloped-edge square cut from a piece of Tranquil Tide paper in the new Fresh Florals DSP Stack.  I did that 8 times in all!

I lightly colored each flower with my Powder Pink Stampin’ Writes Marker – be careful doing this, the Tranquil Tide ink will bleed!  Then I used Liquid Glue to adhere each square to my Whisper White card front.  I left the center square open.

The center, sentiment, square is cut from Whisper White with a second Stitched Shapes Framelits die.  I stamped the little bird from Feathery Friends in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and colored it with my Tranquil Tide, Powder Pink and yes, Lemon-Lime Twist!!, Stampin’ Write Markers.

For my sentiment, I pulled a couple of words from the handy little Tabs For Everything (avail 1 June!) and stamped them in Tranquil Tide.  This is a photopolymer set, so it was easy to get the words right where I wanted them.

I matted the square on a scalloped-edge square of the Tranquil Tide Fresh Florals DSP and popped it over the top of the other squares with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I adhered the panel to a Powder Pink mat and then wrapped a piece of Powder Pink 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon around it, securing it in the back with scotch tape.  Then I used another short length to tie a “faux bow” – which is just a tight knot around the first piece of ribbon, with the ends trimmed nicely.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I stamped the flowers from Feathery Friends in Tranquil Tide a few times on a Whisper White panel.  Then I colored them with the Powder Pink Stampin’ Write Marker.

I SNAILd the panel to a Powder Pink mat and into my Tranquil Tide card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Feathery Friends flowers across the front…

…and then I added a little more Tranquil Tide Fresh Florals DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I really love this kind of card – with the grid of images.  And I think this one, with the flowers from Feathery Friends, came out just right!  I hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Our days are driven by routine – it’s a by-product of having animals.  Dog goes out when I get up.

Dog comes in and has a nap.

We feed the horses at 8.  Run the dog around.  Play some bumper.  He goes for a pond.

Let the horses out.  Clean the stalls.

Back inside.  Mom starts her work day on the computer.

Cats beg for food.

Dog eats cat food Mom throws for noisy cats.

Cat settles down for a snooze by the back door – especially when it’s a nice summer day and the door’s open.

That’s Leo.  He’s eyeballing some chipmunks and a few birds.

Finn – checks out breakfast and usually decides he’s not hungry yet.

Time to join the cat in the morning snooze.

That’s our morning,

All the mornings!

Life is good.

Stampin’ Up! Feathery Friends Sneak Peek

Happy Saturday, y’all!  Winter appears to be making one last ditch effort to freeze us out here in GA.

Well – freeze may be a bit of an over-statement.  It was 44 here on Friday.  But compared to the almost-90 two days before….it feels like winter! Windows closed again, heat instead of A/C.

I kind of rebelled and did a spring-y card with a new Host-Exclusive set called Feathery Friends.  I showed this one on my Facebook Live video yesterday.

Oh – you didn’t see it?  Well….that might be cuz I screwed up and did it on my personal page instead of my Stamps-N-Lingers business page.  Sheesh, Mare….

If you missed it – and would like to see the goodies in my second pre-order box, you can see it right here on YouTube….

Anywho – check out a super simple, single stamp set card from Feathery Friends.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by the challenge this week at CAS(E) This Sketch.

And I used the color combination from the TGIF color challenge.

I started with a Very Vanilla panel and heat embossed the Feathery Friends flower image in Copper.

Then I used a combination of Blender Pens (picking up ink from the lids of my ink cases) and Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image in Emerald Envy, Crushed Curry and Flirty Flamingo.

Using my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig, I added the sentiment (which I absolutely love!!) from Feathery Friends in Flirty Flamingo.

To finish off the card front, I added a few Crushed Curry Glitter Enamel Dots and SNAILd the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat.

I really hemmed and hawed – cuz I wanted to use the bird image on the front – even heat embossed one of the birds in copper and fussy cut him!  But I decided to leave the floral image as the main event on the front and add the bird on the inside.

I heat embossed him in Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder in the corner of a Very Vanilla panel.  Then I colored him with my Crushed Curry and Flirty Flamingo Stampin’ Write Markers.

I SNAILd the panel to a Flirty Flamingo mat and into my Emerald Envy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another Copper-Embossed Feathery Friends bird on the front…

…and then I heat embossed in Copper a few of the other flower images in the Feathery Friends stamp set on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love the images in this stamp set – they’re fun to color and oh-so-pretty!  Hope you like!

We were only allowed to pick two out of the six Host Sets in the new Annual Catalog and it was a very hard choice!  But I settled on this one and the Background Bits stamp set (be sure to watch the video to get a glimpse of that one!).  Of course – you guys could also be having to make this hard decision….join me right now, and you can fill your Starter Kit with goodies from our pre-order!!  Give me a shout here – and let me get you hooked up! 🙂

You’ve only got 3 more days to take advantage of my Eastern Palace Ordering Special!  Don’t miss out!

Finn-Fan Fix…

Today, Finn had a visitor.

Who brought hot dogs cut up into little pieces.

We asked a dog trainer friend of ours to come help us learn how to use an electronic collar with Finn.  We wanted to be sure we were training him correctly with the collar.

So – let’s be clear, cuz I can hear you all gasping in horror and shock and getting ready to un-subscribe to the dog-abuser’s blog!

The collar has multiple settings.

On “1” – which is where we use it, I can’t feel it at all.

I thought it wasn’t working.

But – Finn feels it – and can hear the tiny hum, I suppose.  And it annoys him.

The purpose of training him is to teach him how to turn the annoying hum off.

Answer?  Come back.  When you come back – the humming stops.

Instantly.

That’s an artifact from training horses.  Apply some pressure and instantly remove it when they make even the slightest attempt to do what you need them to do.  And a horse learns it pretty quickly.  An Aussie will learn it at the speed of heat.

So please.  Don’t hate me.  Don’t unsubscribe.

We’re doing this to ensure that the single most important command in any dog’s repertoire (COME or HERE!) will be obeyed every time.

No mater what.

It could save his life one day.

Learning it, though, is hard work.

This is him right after we got done.  He can hardly keep his eyes open.

I’m flopped in the chair.

It’s hard work for mom, too.  And I didn’t even get hot dogs!! 😉
