Happy Happy Hawmmmp Day! And – it just occurred to me – now don’t be scared – there’s a little less than 10 months till Christmas!
Whaaaa???
More pressing and germain to this blog – we’re 2/3 of the way thru Sale-A-Bration, can you even believe it?? Just one more month to fill your tool chest with free goodies!
My card for today is one that I hate having to make – it’s to express my condolences to a friend for the loss off their pet. 🙁 But – I hope it’ll bring a smile – at least for a minute. I used the new Happy Tails stamp set and bundled Dog Builder Punch – plus a Wonderful Floral Framelits die cut. Take a look-see:
The layout for this one comes from this week’s Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.
I started with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock that I embossed in the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF and matted on Mossy Meadow for the car front.
With a Scalloped die from the Circles Layering Framelits, I cut a Vellum circle and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.
I used the Wonderful Floral Framelits to cut the gorgeous leafy edgelit and snipped it down a little to fit the card. Then I adhered it with Liquid Glue to the card front.
Next is a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon, adhered with more Liquid Glue.
On a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, I stamped the Happy Tails sentiment in Mossy Meadow, then cut it with the largest circle Stitched Shapes Framelits die. I stamped the sentiment a second time and cut it out with the Dog Builder Punch.
I inked the heart from Happy Tails in Cherry Cobbler, stamped it off once, and stamped it over the word “heart” in the sentiment.
I popped the circle die onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals then, with more Dimensionals, adhered the dog punched shape right over top of the circle – aligning the stamped words.
I used the little heart shape that’s part of the Dog Builder Punch to cut a few hearts from a Corrugated Element. These I adhered – along with a larger heart-shaped Corrugated Element to the card front with Liquid Glue. And that was it for the card front.
On the inside, I added a second Happy Tails sentiment tin Mossy Meadow to a Very Vanilla panel. Then I added a stamped-off-once Cherry Cobbler paw print – and another punched Corrugated Element heart.
I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Mossy Meadow mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some Crumb Cake hearts and stamped-off-once Cherry Cobbler hearts on the front…
…and I ran the envelop flap thru the Big Shot in the Basket Weave Dynamic TIEF.
Et Voila! Okay – gotta admit – I sorta love how this sentiment turned out! Sort of a Double-Time effect, heh? And the Wonderful Floral Framelits die cut seemed like just the right touch – especially against the Basket Weave embossed panel. Hope you like!

Such a sweet card, I’m sure that it will be appreciated. Love the colors and your design! 🙂
Thanks much, Amy! 🙂
As soon as I saw your card, I knew it was for a sketch challenge! You followed it perfectly!! I’m sorry it had to be for “that” occasion. We both know too well the pain it causes. I know it will bring a smile to their face(s). Phunny photogenic Phinn Finn 😉
Thanks, Karen – I love that basketweave! Hoep they will, too. And yes – Phunny Finn phor sure! 🙂
This is such a gorgeous card, Mary. Your friends will treasure it. Sorry you had to do one of these.
Thanks, Julie – I hope it will help a little. 🙂
Sadly, the need for cards like this comes too often. It is a beautiful one.
Reindeer indeed! He really is goofy…in a nice way!
He really is. This morning he came hurrying to the door to get his collar so we could go feed…carrying the aforementioned reindeer. He was crestfallen when I suggest that the reindeer needed to stay in the house. He’s a character! Thanks, Mom! 🙂
I love the double time effect of the dog punch with the sentiment. It’s a pretty card for a sad occasion.
Is there a dog-equivalent to catnip? Does the reindeer have it?
I think it must. He LOVES that darned thing! Whoda thunk?? Thanks so much, Susan! 🙂
What a wonderful card. That embossing is gorgeous. Thank you for joining the Paper Craft Crew this week!
Thanks, Kim – love that folder! Appreciate you stopping by! 🙂
