Stampin’ Up! Pun Intended Shutter Shaker Birthday!

It’s Finally Friday da da duh duh….sing that along with me!  I have big plans for this weekend.  Wanna hear ’em?  Okay – here we go…

Nothing.

Sleep.

Nada.

Sleep more.

Zilch.

Take a nap.

Oh – and maybe make some cards!

And no doubt there’s another lunch at The Olde Pink House in the works – I do believe we’ve started a tradition! 🙂

Sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it?

So, for the last card share of the work week, I’ve got a cool one that combines a couple of fun card elements.  It starts with a Shutter Fold Card – see the Tutorial for that here.  Then I added a cool shaker element for the front.  I used the new-in-the-new-catalog Host set called Pun Intended.  Take a look-see:

If you’ve seen the Tutorial, you know that I use a belly-band to hold my Gate cards closed.  Here’s what it looks like on the inside…. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogs Public Service Announcement!

Hey, y’all – this is my second post of the day.  If you’re looking for my card share from this morning – check it out here!  And thanks for caring enough to want to see it!

This post is to let everyone know that I put the 2016-2017 Annual Catalogs in the mail just a couple of hours ago! Whoo-hoo!!  I sent one to everyone who’s placed an order of $50 or more with me in the last year. 🙂

All except for two ladies! 🙁  Two ladies who inadvertently picked the no-contact box when they made their online order this past week!  And that makes me sad, y’all!  Cuz they should be eagerly anticipating the arrival of their new catalog – and thinking about their Peppermint Rewards Points – and deciding what they want for their ordering gift!  But they can’t.

So – if you’ve ordered in the past week or so, and haven’t gotten an e-mail from me, then…please blast me an e-mail, would you?  (stamps-n-lingers@comcast.net)And I’ll get your info for the catalog and all the other goodies.

I figured I’d take up a hot second of everyone’s time to remind you about the dratted “No Contact” box in the online ordering system….

You can check to see what your status is by going to the Stampin’ Up store and signing in to your account…

Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here Helping Me Grow

Good morning!  Hope your week is going well – it’s almost over so hang in there!

My card share today makes use of a new stamp set called Sitting Here.  It’s a wonderful set that will let you create little scenes of southern serenity and porch-swing living.  I added some Helping Me Grow florals and collage-y elements.  Take a look-see:

Siiting Here Vintage 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

To begin, I made the vintage-looking card front.  I used Crumb Cake ink and stamped the large Helping Me Grow floral image all over the Very Vanilla panel – making sure to turn the image every which way and to go off the panel, too.  Then I used my Aqua Painter to pull some of the ink, and also picked up some more ink from the lid of the ink pad, to lightly color the blossoms.

Stampin’ Up! Kicking Off the Next Stamps-N-Lingers Online Host Club!

Hello, y’all – it’s Tuesday and the week is in full swing!

Online Host Club Logo

I’m excited to let you know that I’m going to start another Online Host Club on 1 June!  Seems like a good idea – what with the impending arrival of the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog, with all its goodies and wish-lists and must-haves!!

When you take part in the Online Host Club, you get to earn Host benefits without even “doing” a workshop! We’re talking Stampin’ Rewards Dollars and access to exclusive Host sets (plus a few added bennies tossed in)! And it’s easy peasy….

  • Each Club consists of 6 people who each commit to purchasing at least $25 in product each month for 6 consecutive months. Each month, one person will be the “host” of that month’s workshop – I’ll put all your names in a hat (okay – maybe a box) and draw the names out at the beginning of the club period – that way everyone will know which month will be “theirs”!
  • I’ll mail the host code to everyone on the first of each month and then everyone just applies that host code to their order by the 20th. Then the host and I will figure her order together at the end of the month!  Each month the host will have earned at least $15 in Host/Stampin’ Reward dollars!
  • But wait – there’s more! During your participation in the Online Club, I’ll be giving you DOUBLE Peppermint reward points! So – your $25 order will get you TWO peppermints each month, versus the normal one.
  • And – at the end of the 6 months – I’ll give each participant the stamp set of their choice (up to $20) as a thank you for participating. And you’ll get first dibs on the next club sign up!
  • Free Catalogs from me during your Host Club term and free shipping on your host month order are another couple of benefits! That’s going to amount to two Annual Catalogs (this one coming up and the 2017-2018 AC), the Holiday Mini and the Occasions Catalogue!

Stampin’ Up! Of Butterflies Thinlits and Thoughtful Banners

Good Monday to y’all!  Hope you’re ready for another week.  Of course, I don’t suppose it matters if we’re ready or not – cuz it’s upon us! 🙂

About a hundred years ago – okay, maybe early 2014 – before I found the joys of Stampin’ Up! products, I was self-educating in the world of card making and stamping.  The earliest product line I discovered was Tim Holtz – and his fabulous vintage/steampunk/grunge look.  Definitely my cup o’ tea!  I indulged in a voracious appetite for his goodies – I stalked the aisles of every hobby supply store in the area.  I bought heaps and gobs and buckets of Tim’s grungy goodness.

And then I found Stampin’ Up! and that was it for me and Tim (I’m sure he’s somewhere wondering where I am and why I left him!).  I put my Tim things away.  And yes, I missed many of them.  Still do.  One little item that I really liked was his word stickers.  Whole sheets of stickers with single words typed on them.  The idea being that you’d stick them on your project to make phrases.  Cool ones – like Dream Big.  Imagine Wishes.  Wish Big Dreams.  Sparkle.  Journey.  I was never very good at combining them.  I stuck to single words.  Wish.  Dream.  Imagine.  Oh – well, that would have been a good combo – where was it when I was trying to make cards?! 😉

When I saw the new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Thoughtful Banners – I was reminded of my Tim Holtz stickers.  And I saw some card examples where folks had stamped individual words and then cut them out and stuck them on.  Like Ideology stickers (that’s Tim Holtz’s line).  And I wanted to try that.

So – today, I did!

I used the stamp sentiments from Thoughtful Banners (new) and added some Papillon Potpourri and a couple of Butterflies Thinlits and Bold Butterfly Framelits to create….this.  Take a look-see:

Thoughtful Banner Butterfies 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I know.  It’s busy.  And kind of hard to see the three butterflies in the picture.  Also – no matter what you see in my oh-so-wonderful pictures, just take my word that there’s no black on the entire card!  It’s all Gold – White – Night of Navy.  I know this because I was playing along with the Can You Case It Color challenge #119:

Stampin’ Up! Swirly Scribbles Thoughtful Banners Hello

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there in Blog-ville!  I hope you all have breakfast in bed (and don’t have to clean the kitchen), get the house cleaned (without having to lift a finger!), and receive flowers and adulation from all who know and love you!

I am fixin’ to hit the cards hard today – I planned that yesterday, and was partially successful.  But…some of the guys wanted to go to lunch….

IMG_3777

…what’s a girl to do?  And yes – that’s the exact same meal I had at The Olde Pink House last weekend.  I was oh-so-tempted by…well, everything else on the menu!….but in the end, just couldn’t resist that chicken!!  Yuuuuuuuummmmmmm-oooooo!!

But, I did get one and a half cards made on Saturday – and this is one of them!  It’s using some of the many goodies I received this week in my pre-order.  It was really hard to pick just one thing to use – so I used a couple!  I pulled out the Swirly Bird stamp set and its bundled Thinlits – called Swirly Scribbles and added a sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners bundle as well.  Take a look-see:

Swirly Bird Hello 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Bright, huh!?  I’m loving these new 2016-2018 In Colors.  I wasn’t sure I was going to – and felt the same about the Playful Palette DSP, which you can see peeking out from behind the sentiment panel.  But, boy, was I wrong!  It’s growing on me like gangbusters!

Stampin’ Up! A Look Back and Annual Catalog Shares Coming Soon!

Good morning! I can’t even sort of tell you how happy I am to be laying in bed when this post goes live today! It was a close call – late Thursday, it looked like we were going to have to work today and tomorrow! It was looking pretty bleak there for a bit, y’all – I was feeling pretty bummed by the whole thing. Then today, we got a reprieve! Whoo-hoo! A real-live weekend! 🙂

I’ve shared a couple of cards in the last couple of days that used two stamp sets that I just love. I’ve made several cards with them since they came out in the 2015-2016 Annual Catalog and the 2016 Occasions Catalog. I’m referring to the beuaitufl Sweetbriar Rose wooden stamp and the Love You Sew Host stamp set. So – I wanted to lead you on a little stroll down memory lane. Take a look-see at some of my favorite past cards with these two stamps – you can click on the pictures and go right to that post to get a reminder of how I made each one! Enjoy. 🙂

First up – the gorgeous Sweetbriar Rose from the 2016-2017 Annual Catalog…

Stampin’ Up! A Nice Cuppa and a Love & Affection Sneak Peek!

Good morning to y’all – it’s Monday again!  I’m two days from heading out on the next trip.  This one I get to drive to, so my list of things to take (can you say every comfort of home?  Well, except the kitties.  They emphatically declined the invitation! 🙂 ) is long!  And to say that I’ll have nearly every SU! thing I own….well.  You know that’s true!  I’m trying to keep from talking myself into taking my Stamp-N-Storage ink pad combo holder!  It would be sooo nice to have there….  what do you guys think?? 🙂

My share for today is a Mother’s Day card.  Since that’s like…tomorrow! 🙂  I used a little old (retiring) and a little new (not yet available).  A Nice Cuppa – and its matching Framelits are leaving us soon – so…get them while they last!  And, for my paper I dove into my Playful Palette DSP Stack.  Finally, I grabbed a sentiment from the Love & Affection stamp set in the upcoming catalog.  Oh, and a little Awesomely Artistic for good measure!  Take a look-see:

A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Guess I might not have mentioned the Botanical Builder Framelits?

I played along with two challenges for this one.  The first, for the layout design, is Freshly Made Sketches #233:

FMS 233 Sketch

The second was a Theme sketch – TGIF Challenge #52!

TGIFC52 Sketch

I started out by SNAILing a piece of the coming-soon Playful Palette DSP stack to a mat of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I got a little creative with the round element of the sketch, choosing to use a teacup shape from the Cups & Kettle Framelits, which I cut from a piece of Birthday Bouquet DSP.  I SNAILd it to the card front and added my horizontal elements.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I laid a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon across the panel and then wrapped that with a piece of Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon (this is retired, but you can snag it right now in the Clearance Rack!).  I added a layer of Pink Pirouette 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon (retiring soon!) and then a triple wrap of Metallic Gold Baker’s twine (yes, also retiring at the end of May).  That last bit was going to set me up for my final embellishing!

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The flowers are all cut using dies from the Botanical Builder Framelits.  I cut large and small flowers from Very Vanilla, Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride card stock.  I also cut two fern leaves in Mint Macaron.  To pull in some more gold, I looped Gold Metallic Thread on top of my teacup, securing it with a few dabs of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I started layering the flowers, starting with the fern leaves, and then three flowers adhered with Liquid Glue and three popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added a Pearl Basic Jewel to each flower just to finish off the bouquet.

For the sentiment, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the sentiment from A Nice Cuppa in Mint Macaron in the center.  Around it, to conjure the linen look of the card front, I stamped the image from Awesomely Artistic in Blushing Bride all around the sentiment, and lightly sponged the edges.  Then I matted it on Blushing Bride and used some Dimensionals on the top and bottom to adhere it over the ribbon layers.  The ribbons are actually a tiny bit thicker than the Dimensionals, so the result is a slightly rounded profile to the sentiment panel, which is kind of cool!
A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I finished the front of the card with one tiny bow made from the Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine, adhered with Liquid Glue, and a few of the Pearl Basic Embellishments on the sentiment panel.

On the inside of the card, I did another panel of Very Vanilla, adding the lightly sponged linen image from Awesomely Artistic around the outside in Blushing Bride.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Love & Affection in Mint Macaron and SNAILd it into my Blushing Bride card base (no additional inner liner mat on this card).

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the card front on and that did it for the card! 🙂

A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some Blushing Bride flowers, pulled from the Love & Affection stamp set.  This is two stamp images – both done in Blushing Bride.  I filled the centers in with my Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write Marker…

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and the inside liner, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits (another retiring goody!), is another piece of the Playful Palette DSP Stack.

Et Voila!   A bouquet for Mother’s Day, combining some of our favorites that are leaving us soon and some new friends we’ll get to meet in June.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Layered Letters and Another Sneak Peek!

So, as I write this Sunday morning post on Saturday afternoon – I’m ridiculously tickled with the return of the Hummingbirds!  I’ve had my feeders out for a few weeks now and we’ve had one little dude coming by for the last couple.  Today – we’ve got TWO of them.  One – I’m pretty sure – is the same that’s been visiting.  I can tell cuz he’s green.  And his wings flap really really fast.  And he’s tiny.  So I know it’s him! 😉  But now he’s got a little friend – this one has the red band under his chin.  I just love watching them on the feeders.

Does make it hard to wash dishes though, at least without getting water everywhere cuz I’m so busy trying to peer out the window and wash at the same time.  That’s multi-tasking.  Sometimes it works better than others! 🙂

Anywhoooo – on to the cards for today.  Yes – cards!  I have one that I made to share and two that I brought home from OnStage.  They were the Make-and-Takes, so they’ll be a good little peek at some more new Annual Catalog things.

But first, the card I dreamed up all by myself! 🙂  My friend needed another card – this time for a young (?) lady who was trying to learn to ride a motorcycle.  With her boyfriend.  They were apparently on separate bikes, riding slowly thru their neighborhood while she was getting the hang of riding.  He got a little ahead of her, she throttled up – a little more enthusiastically than she’s planned.  The bike jumped a little and she subsequently throttled up even more….and went into the curb.  The bike stopped.  She didn’t.  Here’s the kicker.

She wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Seriously?!?  Learning to ride – and no helmet.  No helmet is a bad plan for any rider, but a new rider??  She’s danged lucky to just be alive, let alone without serious injury.

So – I was asked for a card.  Now, if this was about 5 weeks from now….I might have a motorcycle stamp (that’s a hint….).  But not now.  And I couldn’t make the bike in Pedal Pusher even sort of look like a motorcycle.

I decided to go with more of a….road rash….theme.  I used some Layered Letters, a little Timeless Textures and a nice little sentiment from And Many More (sadly retiring!).  Take a look-see:

Layered Letters Happy Healing 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

It’s a little hard to tell – black is really tough to photograph! – but the card base is black, and the card front is Blackberry Bliss.  I really went for it with the bruised and battered theme!

Stampin’ Up! Moroccan Nights Sneak Peek and Cottage Greetings Shaker Card

It’s Saturday once again – Hallelujah!  And it’s a Saturday in my favorite season of the year!  It’s No-Heat-and-No-AC Season!  The windows are wide open and I can hear the birds and the frogs and the neighbor’s geese.  And the occasional truck or car on the road nearby – not my fave sound of nature, but it is what it is!  We get two No-Heat-and-No-AC seasons here in GA – the second one happens in the Fall!  Love ’em both. 🙂

My card today is another shaker card.  You’re probably thinking….seriously?  She figures out how to do one and has a cool new tool to make them easy – and that’s all she’s going to do?!?  Well, I promise this will be my last one for a month.  Okay – maybe a week.  But they’re just so cool!

This one didn’t start out as a shaker card, anyway.  But about half way thru, when I was making the sentiment – the lightbulb went on and it just made sense!  I used the brand new stamp set (so new you can’t even get it yet!) from the upcoming 2016-2017 Annual Catalog called Moroccan Nights.  Since I can’t get the Moroccan DSP yet, I paired it with the vibrantly colored Bohemian DSP – which is retiring on 31 May!  There’s a sentiment from Cottage Greetings and one from Sunburst Sayings, too – just to keep ya on yer toes! 🙂  Take a look-see:
