Stampin’ Up! So Very Much Love & Affection and End-of-SAB Blog Candy!

Mornin’, y’all – welcome to Friday!  In exactly one week, we’ll be looking square at the end of Sale-A-Bration.

Don’t let it pass you by, okay?  It’s a great time to shop till you drop or join my team!

I’ve got some nice Blog Candy for you  – take a look near the end of the post for details and to see how you can get entered to win!

My card for today uses one of the more simple and straightforward stamp sets in the Sale-A-Bration flyer – one that’s been available from the git-go.  It’s the So Very Much stamp set, and I paired it with the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

My color palette was inspired by the Can You CASE It color challenge this week.

This is a super simple card to put together!

I started with the pretty Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP and SNAILd a piece of the Night of Navy and Crumb Cake design to a mat of Mint Macaron.  For my little banners, I used a piece of Mint Macaron 3/8″ Sheer Linen Ribbon and one of Mint Macaron 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon, snipping banner ends and adhering them to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Then I added a piece of Copper embossed paper from the DSP stack, matted on Mint Macaron and adhered with Liquid Glue.

For my sentiment, I inked the large image from So Very Much in Versamark Ink and stamped it on a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up with my Heat Tool.  Then I matted it on Mint Macaron and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second sentiment from So Very Much in Night of Navy to the middle of a Whisper White panel.  Across the bottom, I added a Mint Macaron-matted strip of Copper embossed Affectionately Yours DSP.

I SNAILd the panel to a Mint Macaron mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

Across the front of my Crumb Cake Medium Envelope, I added a few flower images from the Love & Affection stamp set in Night of Navy and highlighted them with my White Gel Pen…

…and then I added more of the Copper embossed Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is a big, bold sentiment from So Very Much that doesn’t need any help, so I just let it and the Affectionately Yours Specialty DSP do all the work for me!  Hope you like! 🙂

FINN-FAN FIX….

I’ve probably mentioned a time or two that Finn’s a bit of a ….goofball!  Heck, I’ve even provided photographic evidence!

Well, I have more.

Seems like he gives me some every day, as long as I’m quick enough with the camera!

When he plays with his many toys – yes, he tends to gather them all together on the living room floor and just moves from one to the other.

Sometimes he doesn’t even get up – just drops one and grabs the next closest one.

Sometimes he does all that on his back.

Warning – graphic photos of puppy pantaloons ahead….

Stampin’ Up! Timeless Love & Affection

Update 4 May 16:  Found out this morning that my card was selected as a Pals Paper Artist Pick!  Whoo-hoo!  Wanted to thank the folks over at PPA for picking my card amongst all the beautiful projects submitted!

Hey, y’all!  Happy Sunday!

If you’re coming over from Amy’s Blog – welcome and thanks for stopping by!  Or Welcome Back – as the case may be.

So, yesterday, my friend and I went down to the historic district in Savannah.  Our first stop was a restaurant called The Olde Pink House.

IMG_3728

My friend Jan had given me the recommendation when she heard I was coming to Savannah – and thank the Lord for that!  We waited just a short time, cuz my friend had made us a reservation – and we watched dish after dish being carried out to hungry customers.  When we finally got to our table – in fact, the window on the second floor, just to the right of the front porch is where we sat! – we were huuuuungry!  We ended up splitting three appetizers – Fried Green Tomatoes, Mac & Cheese Jalapeño Poppers and an onion stuffed with an Andouille sausage and cheese mixture and baked.  They were ridiculously good – we barely kept ourselves from licking the plates!  And then we both ordered Country Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and collards.  Oh.  My.  Sweet.  Lord.

IMG_3731

I’m not a fan of boneless chicken breasts – they seem to always be dry as sawdust.  But this – this was a juicy work of pure art.  Melted in our mouths!  Aaron – who doesn’t seem like he should be a foodie, but is! – said he was pretty sure this was the best meal he’d has in his entire life!

So – if you’re ever coming down to Savannah – skip right past The Lady and Sons (trust me on this) and head to The Olde Pink House.  The house itself is gorgeous, all the tables are set up in the various rooms of the Havershams’ old and beautiful family home and the wait staff all know little tidbits of history from the house.  And the food is beyond spectacular.

In fact – let me re-phrase.  You need to start figuring out a reason to come to Savannah!  Right now! 🙂

Okay.  Card.  Not food.  On it…

The same friend that I had lunch with had asked me to make him an Anniversary card for his wife.  I seem to get a lot of commissions when I’m out on business! 🙂  So, I came up with a card that would suit his (and her) not-so-froofy natures.  I used the coming-soon Affectionately Yours DSP and Love & Affection stamp set, and combined it with Timeless Love from the current Annual Catalog.  Take a look-see:

Timeless Love & Affection 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I was going for a pretty and elegant card, with not a lot of bling, but some.  The copper accents in the new Affectionately Yours DSP was just the ticket, and I played that theme out by also using the new Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! A Nice Cuppa and a Love & Affection Sneak Peek!

Good morning to y’all – it’s Monday again!  I’m two days from heading out on the next trip.  This one I get to drive to, so my list of things to take (can you say every comfort of home?  Well, except the kitties.  They emphatically declined the invitation! 🙂 ) is long!  And to say that I’ll have nearly every SU! thing I own….well.  You know that’s true!  I’m trying to keep from talking myself into taking my Stamp-N-Storage ink pad combo holder!  It would be sooo nice to have there….  what do you guys think?? 🙂

My share for today is a Mother’s Day card.  Since that’s like…tomorrow! 🙂  I used a little old (retiring) and a little new (not yet available).  A Nice Cuppa – and its matching Framelits are leaving us soon – so…get them while they last!  And, for my paper I dove into my Playful Palette DSP Stack.  Finally, I grabbed a sentiment from the Love & Affection stamp set in the upcoming catalog.  Oh, and a little Awesomely Artistic for good measure!  Take a look-see:

A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Guess I might not have mentioned the Botanical Builder Framelits?

I played along with two challenges for this one.  The first, for the layout design, is Freshly Made Sketches #233:

FMS 233 Sketch

The second was a Theme sketch – TGIF Challenge #52!

TGIFC52 Sketch

I started out by SNAILing a piece of the coming-soon Playful Palette DSP stack to a mat of Very Vanilla card stock.  Then I got a little creative with the round element of the sketch, choosing to use a teacup shape from the Cups & Kettle Framelits, which I cut from a piece of Birthday Bouquet DSP.  I SNAILd it to the card front and added my horizontal elements.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I laid a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon across the panel and then wrapped that with a piece of Natural 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon (this is retired, but you can snag it right now in the Clearance Rack!).  I added a layer of Pink Pirouette 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon (retiring soon!) and then a triple wrap of Metallic Gold Baker’s twine (yes, also retiring at the end of May).  That last bit was going to set me up for my final embellishing!

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 2 - Stamps-N-Lingers

The flowers are all cut using dies from the Botanical Builder Framelits.  I cut large and small flowers from Very Vanilla, Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron and Blushing Bride card stock.  I also cut two fern leaves in Mint Macaron.  To pull in some more gold, I looped Gold Metallic Thread on top of my teacup, securing it with a few dabs of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.  Then I started layering the flowers, starting with the fern leaves, and then three flowers adhered with Liquid Glue and three popped up with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 8 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I added a Pearl Basic Jewel to each flower just to finish off the bouquet.

For the sentiment, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla and stamped the sentiment from A Nice Cuppa in Mint Macaron in the center.  Around it, to conjure the linen look of the card front, I stamped the image from Awesomely Artistic in Blushing Bride all around the sentiment, and lightly sponged the edges.  Then I matted it on Blushing Bride and used some Dimensionals on the top and bottom to adhere it over the ribbon layers.  The ribbons are actually a tiny bit thicker than the Dimensionals, so the result is a slightly rounded profile to the sentiment panel, which is kind of cool!
A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I finished the front of the card with one tiny bow made from the Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine, adhered with Liquid Glue, and a few of the Pearl Basic Embellishments on the sentiment panel.

On the inside of the card, I did another panel of Very Vanilla, adding the lightly sponged linen image from Awesomely Artistic around the outside in Blushing Bride.  Then I stamped the sentiment from Love & Affection in Mint Macaron and SNAILd it into my Blushing Bride card base (no additional inner liner mat on this card).

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 5 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I SNAILd the card front on and that did it for the card! 🙂

A Nice Cuppa World's Bets Mother 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got some Blushing Bride flowers, pulled from the Love & Affection stamp set.  This is two stamp images – both done in Blushing Bride.  I filled the centers in with my Watermelon Wonder Stampin’ Write Marker…

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 6 - Stamps-N-Lingers

…and the inside liner, cut with my Envelope Liner Framelits (another retiring goody!), is another piece of the Playful Palette DSP Stack.

A Nice Cuppa World's Best Mother 7 - Stamps-N-Lingers

Et Voila!   A bouquet for Mother’s Day, combining some of our favorites that are leaving us soon and some new friends we’ll get to meet in June.  Hope you like!

Folks – the retiring list is chock-a-block filled with ribbon and trim – don’t miss your chance to get some.  All the items I used today are available now – but won’t be when supplies run out!  And A Nice Cuppa is available as a retiring bundle with its Cups & Kettle Thinlits.  There’s just over a month left!

BUT – there’s only a WEEK left for FREE shipping on any order of $50 (before shipping and taxes) and DOUBLE peppermints on the same order! Combine the retiring items with extra rewards and free shipping while you can! 🙂

See you tomorrow for updates from Stampin’ Up!
