Mornin’, y’all – happy Hawmp Day – I hope your week is going well! We’re finally having Fall. It’s gorgeous here – I see the leaves “raining” down – that’s what we’re going to name our farm one of these days. Raining Leaf Farm. We have so many trees that when Fall really “hits” and the wind blows or rain falls, the leaves truly look like rain! It’s completely cool. I love this time of year!
Okay – a few little admin-y things before we get to the card, okay?
Number 1: Copper Foil Sheets. If you didn’t catch it yesterday, here’s the deal. They’ve been so completely and wildy popular that they’re almost extinct. Like…after TODAY at 8am (Mountain Time)….they’re going to be on the “Non-Orderable” List. You can still order them until 8am (MT) – they’re going to show as backordered, but the system will allow you to place the order and get on the list to get in on the final shipment. So – if you want any of this pretty paper – get it now. I have no way to tell you when it will come back to being available. Here’s a link right to the Copper Foil Sheets if you want to go grab them right now.
Number 2: You’ve got until this evening to take advantage of the Stampin’ Up! World Card Making Day special and get 25% off select items. Scroll on down for the details!
Number 3: I found out yesterday that one of my cards from last week was selected as an Artist Pick over at Hand Stamped Sentiments, for their challenge #247! What a great surprise it was to read this in my inbox! Thanks to all the fine and talented folks at Hand Stamped Sentiments! I appreciate you all. If you want to go see that card, here’s a link.
Okay – whew! Still with me?! Sorry about that, but…there’s just stuff you needed to know, okay?? In a timely fashion! 🙂
So – on to the good stuff. My card today is a study in Crumb Cake, Garden Green and Cherry Cobbler. I used two old-fashioned-y stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog – Christmas Magic and Father Christmas. And added some warmth and texture with the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF. Take a look-see:
This design was inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday sketch #468:
I started by running a panel of Crumb Cake card stock thru the Big Shot inside the Cable Knit Dynamic TIEF. I just love this folder! I SNAILd the panel to a Cherry Cobbler mat. The middle element is a piece of Warmth & Cheer DSP, matted on Cherry Cobbler. Then I adhered two pieces of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim, using a line of SNAIL on the top and bottom of the panel. Finally, I SNAILd the whole thing to the card front.
For the focal art, I stamped the oh-so-cute snowman from Christmas Magic in Crumb Cake ink on a square of Whisper White. Under that, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to add the sentiment in Crumb Cake. Upon further review, I might ought to have done the sentiment in Cherry Cobbler. But…I didn’t. If you decide to CASE this one – consider Cherry Cobbler or Garden Green for the sentiment!
I flicked the edges with Crumb Cake on a sponge, then matted the square on Cherry Cobbler and popped it on the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. To add just a hint of color to the snowman – while leaving him in a mostly “sepia” format, I used some Flirty Flamingo for his scarf, a little Peekaboo Peach for his carrot-nose, Mint Macaron for the holly in his hat, and a touch of Cherry Cobbler for the berries. All with Stampin’ Write Markers.
The embellishment is a combination of things. First I cut two large holly leaves from the Warmth & Cheer DSP using the Holly Builder Punch. I made a little tag from a strip of Whisper White – I snipped the corners to make it more tag-ish. And I flicked its edges with my Crumb Caked sponge, too. I toyed with adding something to the tag, and ultimately decided against it. I kind of like the blank slate.
I took two short lengths of Cherry Cobbler 3/8″ Ribbon and adhered them to the back of my tag, then adhered that to the card with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. Next came my holly leaves, three Cherry Cobbler Enamel Shapes, and a bow from Cherry Cobbler and Gold Baker’s Twine. And that was it for the card front!
On the inside, I stamped the pretty holly spray from Father Christmas in Garden Green in the corner of a Whisper White panel. I colored it in with Pear Pizzazz and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Write Markers. The sentiment, from Christmas Magic, is stamped in Cherry Cobbler. Finally, I flicked the edges with more of my Crumb Cake sponge.
I SNAILd it to its Cherry Cobbler mat and into my Crumb Cake card base, popped the card front on with Dimensionals and the card was done!
My Crumb Cake Medium Envelope got another of the Father Christmas holly sprays on the front…
…and some more Warmth & Cheer DSP on the envelope flap,
Et Voila! I like the old fashioned look of these stamp sets – very old timey Christmas. And I think they pair nicely with the cozy designs in the Warmth & Cheer DSP stack. Hope you like!
