Stampin’ Up! Knit Sweater Together Time of Giving for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good morning, y’all!  It’s Thursday – which means it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  We’ve got a sketch challenge to work with and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table – I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw our sketch, I saw “background stamp”.  And the one I decided to pull out for you was the Knit Together stamp set – with the bundled Knit Sweater dies.  And – for the sentiment – and a few other elements (like LEAVES!) – out came the Time of Giving stamp set and bundled Giving Gifts Dies.  Take a look-see:

Farmer’s Market DSP Makes a Cool Country-Vibe Card!

One of the cool things about doing the catalog shares these past few weeks, was that it gave me the excuse to buy enough of each of the new items to ensure that I had a bit of a stash, too! 😉  I’m having a lot of fun playing with the new papers and trying out some of the new ribbons and embellishments as well.  Well, this week, my upline challenged us to make projects using the color purple.  I sorted thru all my new paper-toys, and stumbled onto the Farmer’s Market DSP.  While some of the designs are a bit head-scratchery (“How in the world do I incorporate artichokes and lettuce into a card?” Any ideas out there?!?), there are many that are really awesome.  I picked a few of those for today’s card (and got a purple challenge card in the bargain!).  Take a look-see:

Watercolor Wings Book Card

Here’s something you don’t know about me.  I am an ORGANIZING MAVEN!!  I LIVE to clean and organize my household, my barn, my life.  My closet is organized by color, garment type and day of the week.  My kitchen – well, let’s just say that it could pass for Martha Stewart’s kitchen.

I am possibly the most organized person you will ever know – virtually or in reality.

She said – never!

I’m possibly the polar opposite of everything I wrote above.  Oh, I have good intentions.  I can straighten and organize an area in the house and it looks quite awesome.  And then I USE that area and….well, you know.

Why am I telling you this, you might ask?  Well – think back a few posts, when I told you that I’d lost the piece of paper with the recipe for the book Wedding card.  Remember me telling you that I would likely FIND said paper where I least expected I would?  Guess what?  I was right.  I DID find it.  Tucked away with my embellishments and a couple of ink pads.  That’s where you’d have stuck it, right?  Certainly you wouldn’t have carefully placed it in your computer roll-on with the other pieces of paper with card recipes.  THAT would be crazy. 😉  But, find it I did – so here’s how to make a book card.

Now, this is a different card – I decided to make a new card using the same technique.  So the card cuts will be very close to what I used in the wedding card – just different colors.  If anyone wants the actual info for the Timeless Love wedding card – just leave me a comment and I’ll post that one as well.

I decided to use the Watercolor Wings set – brand new! – Butterfly Basics, and the Thoughts and Prayers set to create a Get Well card.  Take a look see:

One of Those Days….and a Thank You Card!

So – if you’ve been a follower of my blog for any time at all, you know that I very recently got home from 4 ridiculously long months in California.  In case you’re new here (welcome! 🙂 ) and let me just say that I wasn’t in the part of CA that you see Clint Eastwood talking about on TV.  No indeed.  But – I’m home now.  And I’ve been taking a couple of weeks of vacation.

We live very near Atlanta.  We have lots and lots of stuff to do here.

Six Flags over Georgia.

Water Parks.

Lake Alatoona, West Point Lake and Lake Lanier within an hour or two.  And a nice fishing boat in the garage.

Calloway Gardens just a couple of hours south of us.  And I hear the butterflies are hatching.  De-robing?  Un-cocooning?

Stone Mountain is close and apparently fun.  Nope – never been there.

One of the best aquariums in the country – just up the road.

The Coca-Cola plant and museum – just up the same road.  And it boasts the opportunity to try Coca-Cola products from all over the world.  Sorry, though – until they make Diet Mountain Dew….I’m a Pepsico girl.  And – other countries have some pretty……”hmm” ideas of what makes soda taste good.  Just sayin’.

Bottom line?  We gots lots and lots of cool, fun things to do – right here.  So – what do you think we did?

Yup – you guessed it.  We replaced the toilet in our master bathroom.  I believe the old one is as old as the house (and it’s no young-un!) and was really ready to be replaced.  Like coffee and toilet paper – there’s just some things that are life-critical.  Toilets that WORK are right up there on that list (maybe for DH the entire outdoors is a valid alternative, but….not for the DW (that’s me)!).  So it was necessary.  But, I must say – if asked to write a one page (single spaced) essay on “What I did on summer vacation” – this would be kind of pathetic!

To top it all off – it’s been “one of those days”.  You know the kind I mean?  I’ve been in a completely stinkin’ mood all day.  One might even say…..

bitchy day

No idea why or where-from the great B****-iness overcame me today – but it did.  Which I’m sure added to the overall pleasantness of replacing the toilet for my DH.  Oh!  Did you think I meant “WE” when I said “we”?  No – HE did the toilet while I supervised, read the directions (which he pretty much ignored), checked for leaks, etc.  The usual.

But – it’s done now.  Ready to roll.  Or flow.  Or….something.  And I’m sure tomorrow will be much better!  And hopefully the little bundle will be all gone.

Now – let’s get on with why you came here today, shall we?  My card today was one I did to thank my friend in CA for all the help he gave me on this last trip.  It uses the brand new Happy Birthday, Everyone stamp set, and is done in a few of the new 2015-2017 In Colors.  Take a look-see:

Just a Few Updates for 10 Mar 15

I love Tuesday!  Especially since I joined the Stampin’ Up! family.  On Tuesday, we get a brand new batch of Weekly Deals – and I love to see what’s going to be available.

I don’t have a card recipe for you today – this will be another post with some updates from SU.  But – I did do a fun little project this week, that I just wanted to share with you.  No recipes, just a picture!  If anyone wants some detail, drop me a comment!  These are for the ladies who tidy my room up for me every day.  I like to leave my tip for them – with one of these attached to it.  I’ve made two batches now – the first one (on the left) used inexpensive manila tags that I got from Michaels.  The second batch, I went all-Stampin’ Up! – all the time!  I’d been scribbling a quick note on one of the hotel note pads.  With a smiley face.  Wow.  Really “special”.  Not-so-much.  I decided I was really not living up to my SU “reputation”, so….these were born!  And you know what?  I get a note back many days, with God Bless You written on it – and a smiley face!  Sometimes people don’t take the tag.  Sometimes they leave the little paper clip.  And – LOL – sometimes the tip, the tag and the clip are all gone, and they’ve forgotten to leave me any coffee!! 🙂  But, I love these little tags, and I’ll keep giving them each day.  I like to think they’ve brought a smile to someone!  See what you think.

I do have some bad news about our Blendabilities line. You’ve been reading that the Blendies have been on ordering hold, due to quality issues in manufacturing.  Due to the nature of the defect, Stampin’ Up! has concluded that difficulties, dissatisfaction, and product returns will only become more widespread. The manufacturer is unable to correct the problem in a manner the company is certain would meet our high quality standards and provide us with a stable, long-term solution. Therefore, after a great deal of deliberation and in order to prevent further disappointment, the Blendabilities product line has been discontinued.  If you have Blendabilities that you feel are defective, please let me know and I’ll guide you through what to do next.  Hopefully SU will find a new source for alcohol markers – heck, I was just getting good at coloring with them!

Check out the new Weekly Deals (looks like some good ones – I’ve had my eye on that Wildflower Meadow background stamp and TIEF for a while now!).  And the updated backorder list (yea, that one’s a bit of a downer, sorry).  And don’t forget to use the March Hostess code when you order!

Thanks for stopping by!

For the New Two Wedding Card

Hello, Thursday – come on Friday! 🙂  Been a long week out here in CA – long days, and short nights – and I’m very much looking forward to a weekend (i.e.: hair and makeup NOT done!) and a little sleep.  And some time to make cards! And grocery shop – the weekend chores don’t really go away, do they – they just change up a little bit!

But, I did get a chance this week to make a card for a friend.  His best friend from his childhood is getting married next week, and I offered to make him a special wedding card to give the happy couple.  I really wanted to use the new Sheer Perfection Vellum Designer stack.  And, of course, I just HAD to have a new stamp set – you know, to be sure I had just the right sentiments to finish the card.  So – I bought the For the New Two stamp set and some Sahara Sand ink, to match the Sahara Sand card stock that my head was busily designing the card around.  After just a few minutes of deliberation when I sat down at my “crafting table” (in actuality the kitchen table in my hotel room), I changed my plans and dove into the card you see below.  I am ridiculously happy with how the entire ensemble (yes, I made an envelope, too) turned out.  Take a look-see!

For the New Two Wedding Card Outside 4 watermarked

I went tall-and-skinny for this one, starting with a Sahara Sand card base.  The card front is a piece of Pink Pirouette CS, that I edged with the darkest Pink Pirouette Blendability.  SNAIL’d to that is another piece of Sahara Sand CS.  The art itself is one of the pretty designs in the new Sheer Perfection Vellum Designer Stack – that I colored with the dark Pink Pirouette Blendy.  Tip:  turn the vellum over and color the BACK of the paper.  I noticed that the design started to smudge a little when I tried to color it on the front.  Once I figured out the code, as it were, it colored quickly and easily.  I let myself be a little-less-than-perfect on the coloring (gasp! I didn’t stay inside the lines!!).  I like the touch of informality the slightly “messy” coloring gives the card.

For the New Two Wedding Card Outside 1 watermarked

When I got done with my coloring project, I finished the cut edges of the vellum by again edging with the dark Pink Pirouette Blendy.  Oh – to do this just hold the larger tipped end straight up and run the paper edge horizontally along the edge.  You can add more if you want more, or keep it light.  Up to you!

I inked up the sentiment from the For the New Two set in SU Basic Black.  Now, this sentiment has flowers on the bottom of it – that I didn’t want on the card.  So, I covered them ever-so-carefully with Post-It notes.  Then, because my notes weren’t too stuck on, I inked the stamp by tapping the upside-down-ink-pad on the stamp.  I was also pretty hard-over on where – exactly! – the sentiment needed to go, so that it would be clear of the flowers.  So, I first stamped the Stamp-a-ma-jig clear sheet with the sentiment (after removing the Post-Its).  Then I had to re-apply more stickies to re-ink the stamp to actually put on the card.  It sounds a lot more complex than it really is and it was well worth the little bit of extra effort!

For the New Two Wedding Card Outside 3 watermarked

To attach the vellum to the now sentiment-stamped Sahara Sand card front, I used a glue dot in each corner.  I’d already decided to use Pink Pirouette hearts, punched with the Hearts Border Punch, in each corner (cause I knew I would need to cover up whatever adhesive I used), so I made sure that my glue dots were equally positioned in each corner.  A tiny dab with the SU 2-way Glue Pen was all that was needed to stick the hearts where they needed to be, and a Pearl Basic Jewel finished each of the hearts off.  Then I spent some time adhering the tiniest of the Pearl Basic Jewels to the centers of some of the vellum flowers.  I have no idea how many there are – I just kept adding them until I thought it looked right – but I kept them in the top part of the flowers.

I wrapped a length of the 7/8″ Sahara Sand Lace Trim around and taped it to the back of the layered mat, and then finished that off with some Blushing Bride (apropos, no?!?!) Baker’s Twine. And then I stuck one last pearl in the center of the BT bow.  Pink Pirouette, Sahara Sand and Pearls.  Perfect!  The card front was done when I popped it onto the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For the New Two Wedding Card Outside 1 watermarked

On the inside, I used a piece of Pink Pirouette, edged with the dark Blendy of the same color.  And then guess what I discovered?  The new Sale-A-Bration stamp set Nature’s Perfection has a stamp with a flower that looks just like the flowers on the Sheer Perfection Vellum!!!  Coincidence?!?  Knowing Stampin’ Up! I suspect not! 🙂  So – I stamped those all across the bottom in Sahara Sand, and then added the sentiment.  I texted my friend and gave him the choice of the two sentiments I’d identified for the inside, so he got to pick the one he liked best.  Here’s how it looks:

For the New Two Wedding Card Inside 3 watermarked

Now – at this point, I’d normally add some stamped embellishments to a Medium Envelope and call it good, but…this is a special card.  So – I found an appropriately sized piece of the Occasions Irresistibly Yours DSP – with some flowers – and sponged it with Pink Pirouette Ink.  And then used the Envelope Punch Board to make a custom envelope (pink-flower-side in).  And THEN, cause I was on a roll (and also don’t have any of the SU Sticky Strip tape), I punched out a heart with the Sweetheart Punch from a little of the remaining Irresistibly Yours DSP and stuck a piece of Double Sided Tape onto the back of it.  When I gave it to Dave, I told him to use it to close the envelope when he was ready.  Here ’tis – what do you think?

For the New Two Wedding Card Outside and Envelope 3 watermarked For the New Two Wedding Card Outside and Envelope 2 watermarked

Yea – I stamped more of the flowers across the front of the envelope in Sahara Sand and Pink Pirouette.  Couldn’t help myself!

Anyway – Dave was pleased with the result, as was I.  I hope that you like it as well!

There’s only 27 days left to get in on Sale-A-Bration and to get these great new stamp sets and the vellum stack that I used in this project.  Don’t miss out – I don’t know when (or if!) we’ll see these items again! And Sale-A-Bration also means the chance to earn MORE Hostess Dollars with a qualifying workshop or individual order than at any other time of the year.  It’s win-win!

BLENDABILITIES QUALITY ISSUES

Stampin’ Up! released the following announcement about the Blendabilities line.  While this is disappointing, it’s something of a testament to the company that they’re addressing an issue they find unacceptable in an up-front manner.  At this point, I don’t know exactly what the issue is, but I’ll bring you guys more information as I get it.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Thanks to all of you who joined us last week for the Happy Stamper’s Birthday Blog Hop!  I hope that y’all enjoyed all our shares for you.

My share for you today comes from the brand-spanking-new Sale-A-Bration products.  You can scroll down and get another look at all of them – including a flyer that shows some cool ideas for using them.  For today, I dove into the new For Being You set – which I got in wood.  It’s a fun set – with a BIG “Thanks” as the center-point.  I can see it becoming a new fave for me.

I used the Best Year Ever DSP from the Sale-A-Bration catalog (if you hurry, you can still get this paper FREE with a $50 purchase!) to influence my color palette.  I started with a piece of the DSP as my card front and SNAIL’d it to a Crumb Cake Cut and Ready Card Base.

For Being You Thanks Outside 4 WatermarkedThen I matted a piece of Whisper White Card Stock with a Sahara Sand Mat, and stamped the sentiment from the For Being You set in Sahara Sand Classic Ink.  Folks – this is a sentiment that makes a statement!  It’s big – the word measures just under 4″ long and a little shy of an inch tall – you can see how much of the card front it uses.  I really like that bold font, too.  I gave it even more pop by outlining the letters in Tangelo Twist and Lost Lagoon using my Stampin’ Write Markers.

For Being You Thanks Card Outside 2 Closeup watermarked

I did a wrap around the matted piece with two lengths of the new Thick Twine from the In-Colors Accessory Pack (one of the new SAB items), taping the ends to the back with regular tape.  Then I did a double bow and used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere it to the other strands of twine.

I’d just received a package of the Itty Bitty Accents Epoxy Stickers, so I wanted to try them out.  I stuck two of the little hearts on, and colored them with the darkest of my Coastal Cabana Blendability Markers (scroll all the way down for an important notice about Blendabilties).  Then, I popped the sentiment mat onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the front was done!

For Being You Thanks Card Outside 3 Watermarked

For the inside, I used a piece of Whisper White Card Stock, that I gussied up a bit with some scrap Sahara Sand Card Stock and Best Year Ever DSP.

For Being You Thanks Card Inside watermarked

This card went together quickly and I think it’s a nice, clean look.  I hope that you’ll get in on the For Being You set before it’s gone – I think it’s going to be a really nice, versatile set to have in your tool kit!

Speaking of the new SAB products, they’re now available for your buying pleasure!  Two new stamp sets, In-Color Accessories and a brand new Vellum Designer Stack!

——————–

February 27, 2015
We are experiencing a quality issue with our Blendabilities product line. Except for the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (item #132708) and the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad Refill (item #133456), all item numbers have been turned off; this includes Blendabilities Sale-A-Bration item numbers.

At this time, backorders for Blendabilities will not be fulfilled.

We thank you for your patience and will update you as soon as we have more information.
