Happy Day-After-Hump-Day! Decided to play around with a cute new stamp set today called Sparkly Seasons. It’s got a little sumpin’ sumpin’ for every holiday – Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween! And it matches with a fun framelits set called Seasonal Frame. And when you buy them both together, you can save 15%!
I also used a little bit of Hello You Thinlits….some Hearth & Home Thinlits and a Holiday Catalog Hostess Set called Six Sayings. Yep – I was all over the place! 🙂
But – I think it came out pretty cute. Take a look-see:
I drew my design inspiration from Freshly Made Sketches #203. As always, let me urge you to head over there and check out all the designs that folks come up with – it’s pretty inspirational!
I did shift my sentiment a little to accommodate my card, but…that’s about it!
I began by SNAILing a piece of the Happy Haunting DSP to a mat of Tangelo Twist. Then I put my window scene together. First I stamped the round Sparkly Season zig-zag stamp in Tangelo Twist onto a piece of Tangelo Twist card stock. I punched that out with my 2 1/2″ Circle Punch. For the eyes and mouth, I stamped the eyes-and-mouth stamp (it’s all one stamp) onto the BACK of a piece of Black Glimmer Paper. Then I fussy cut them out. And, since every Jack-O’Lantern I’ve ever made had a nose….I cut another little triangle out for a nose. I didn’t glue them onto the punkin’ quite yet…. but I did stamp his stem. I just inked the stem up with my Soft Suede and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers, stamped it onto a scrap of Very Vanilla card stock and cut it out with the matching die in the Seasonal Frame Thinlits. Then I trimmed off most of the extra card stock, and stuck it on the back of the punkin’ circle with a glue dot folded in half.
I pulled out a piece of Very Vanilla card stock – just a scrap, really – and stamped it with my Hardwood Background stamp in Soft Suede. Then I cut out the window with my Hearth & Home Thinlits Dies. I colored it all in with my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.
With my window cut out, and a piece of the starry night paper from the Happy Haunting DSP, I laid out my window, and determined where the eyes, nose and mouth needed to be on my Jack-O’Lantern to make him be peeking in the window (I wanted him to look cute, not creepy-peeping-Tom-Stalker-ish!). Once I had that worked out, I glued his face down with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, then I glued him to the starry night paper and trimmed the excess punkin with my Paper Snips. Finally, I put the window over all of it with a final little bit of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. And SNAILd it all to the card front.
If you’ll notice, you can’t see any Very Vanilla Card Stock around his little stem and leaves. Once I had it all glued down, I used my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to color it in – and it just sort of disappeared into the black starry night background! 😉
The sentiment is from the Hello You Thinlits, cut out three times. One layer is Black Glimmer Paper and then there are two other layers of Basic Black Card Stock – then I just adhered them all together with Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue. I colored the edges with my Basic Black marker and then used a little more of that glue to adhere it to the window!
I put a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels in the starry night and one Home for Christmas Enamel Dot onto the background, popped the card front onto my Basic Black Card Base with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and…..moved inside!
The inside is a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, adhered to a mat of Tangelo Twist. I stamped the Fa-BOO-lous sentiment, from the Hostess Set called Six Sayings, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Then I pulled out my For All Things, and used my Tangelo Twist Stampin’ Write Marker to color just the word “You”. I lined it up with my Stamp-a-Ma-Jig and stamped it on the card! And that was all I needed.
Since I have an Envelope Liner framelit (and you should, too!!), I cut out a Medium Envelope Liner from some of the Happy Haunting plaid paper that I used on the front of the card. I also stamped a couple of punkin’ faces in Tangelo Twist onto a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. One on the front and one….hidden under the flap. I’m just so clever that way!
Et Voila! A fun, not-at-all-creepy, Jack-O’Lantern peeking in to say Hello! Hope you like!
Are you wondering what the new Punkin’ Head rewards is going to look like? Well, stay tuned…it’s coming! 🙂
