Well, if you’ve been following my blog (thank you!), you’ll have realized that this posting is late! I try to post something new to share on Friday morning – but it’s quite obviously NOT morning. Or Friday! If you were anxiously waiting by your e-mail for notice that I’d posted – many mea culpas (and also thank you again!). I’ve been flat covered up this week at work and last night? Well, I looked at my card pics sitting patiently in my computer waiting to be watermarked and described and posted….and watched Grey’s Anatomy. My plan was to blog. Just like the night before. When I watched Scandal instead. Do you guys watch Scandal? Scott Foley. Hello? Mmmmm-mmmm. But, I digress….again.
For this week’s share, I decided to use a little more of the soon-to-be-gone Adventure Bound DSP. The design I chose helped to drive the final outcome and the overall flavor of rustic/vintage. Take a look-see:
I started with my flower. First, using the Fun Flower punch (which is going to be available in the NEW catalog, too!), I cut out 5 flowers from two different patterns of the Typeset DSP. Three of the flowers got a little age added to them with some Soft Suede sponged on the petals. The other two I added a dab of color to with some sponged on Night of Navy. Then, using the edge of my bone folder, I lightly curled the petals – like you’d curl wrapping paper ribbon. Just a little – and when you do this, be gentle. The Typeset DSP is thin – which makes it easy to tear. But it also makes it curl perfectly! I stacked up the flowers – alternating the colors – using Multipurpose Liquid Glue – and offsetting everything just enough to make the flower. If you want to see how to make a slightly different kind of flower, head over to the Tutorials page!
To make the center, I made a little Linen Thread bow and cut out a Petite Petal flower from Night of Navy and one from the Typeset DSP (which got a little Soft Suede ink-if-ication) and pulled out a Something Borrowed embellishment. Then I stacked those all on top of the flower with some more of the liquid glue and set it all aside to dry. And then picked it back up to admire it. And then set it aside again! I am ridiculously enamored with how this flower turned out! 🙂
For the sentiment tag, I used the Thoughts and Prayers sentiment in Night of Navy, on a piece of Sahara Sand card stock. I punched the end with the Hexagon Punch, sponged the edges with a little more Night of Navy, and SNAIL’d it to a similarly prepared piece of Night of Navy Card Stock.
For the card front, I SNAIL’d the Adventure Bound piece to a Night of Navy mat. And then, due to my usual messy-self-osity, I saw a teensy smudge of Night of Navy ink on my pretty “wooden” panel. So, I covered it up with a length of 7/8″ Sahara Sand lace ribbon! Which actually turned out to be a pretty good idea….
At that point, I had a flower, a sentiment tag, and a card front. And as I tried to lay the card out in my planned-for portrait orientation (with the lace band now sort of driving the location of the flower and sentiment), I just couldn’t make it work. No flower placement looked right. The sentiment was too long. Did I mention at the start that I had not formed an actual PLAN for this card – I just wanted it to be rustic, and I wanted to make this flower (it had been circling in my head for a while – maybe I saw a similar one on Pinterest, I don’t know). No clue what to DO with it all. And then my light-bulb “aha!” moment happened – and I turned the card sideways (duh!). And it was good…..
The flower is adhered with more of the Multi-purpose Liquid Glue, and the sentiment is SNAIL’d on, tucked just slightly under the flower. At the last minute, I added one little Rhinestone Basic jewel…. then I popped the whole layered card front onto my Sahara Sand card base with some Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card front was done!
For the inside, I used a scrap of the Typeset DSP, and cut out some Itty Bitty Accent Flowers from that and some more Petite Petals from the Night of Navy CS. The Typeset flowers were sponged with a little more Night of Navy, and just barely curled with the bone folder. Each flower got a Rhinestone jewel – to coordinate with the front, and…
…the card was done! I didn’t put a sentiment on the inside, cause that leaves the range of uses for this card wide open!
I hope that you like this share – and will forgive my tardiness in getting it to you this week. I should tell you that the next few weeks of posting may be a little sporadic – as I mentioned at the start, work is pretty much taking up my entire energy store right now. I’ll ask for your patience – don’t give up on me, baby!! 🙂

Thanks. I love the Typeset – it just lends itself so well to “vintage”!
