A Whole Lot of Wonderful Vases!

This week, I opened another fun box of toys business investments 😉 from Stampin’ Up!  There were a couple of stamps in there that I’d been wanting to play with for a while.  For today, I picked one to make a quick and easy card with.  It’s the Vivid Vases stamp.  It’s fun to color, and you get a lot of bang for the stamp.  Take a look-see:

I started by stamping the image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock, using the Memento Black Ink.  Then I ran it thru the Big Shot, cutting the oval with the Ovals Collection Framelit.  I used my Stampin’ Write Markers to color the image, and I was almost there!  I cut out a tiny heart from some Blackberry Bliss Card Stock, using my Hearts Border punch, and glued it on with a little dab of Multi-purpose Liquid Glue.  A tiny seed pearl brightens the center of the daisy.  And, cause I just thought it wanted a little extra sump’n sump’n, I put a bunch of little dots around the outside of the oval with my Perfect Plum Marker.

I SNAIL’d a Blackberry Bliss mat to one of my Whisper White Notecards (of Notecards and Envelopes fame – so it’s a smallish card).  I decided to keep the mat a little smaller than usual – I liked the contrast with the white card base.  And, after I popped the sentiment oval on the front with Dimensionals, I really liked the ratio of Blackberry Bliss to White.  The card front was done!

The inside got a quick little stamp with a couple more vases (this time I used my Elegant Eggplant Ink Pad – no idea why except that it was new and I wanted to use it!), and some coloring.  I added the Celebrate sentiment, in Perfect Plum, from the Good Greetings Hostess Set.  And that was that.  Done!

This is such a cute card, and it’s so quick to make – the little dots around the oval took the longest! – that I think it would be an awesome pick for a gift set for someone for….Mother’s Day?!? I just love these little vases, and am betting I’ll be using them a lot in the future.

Blingy Barn-door Birthday

My card share for this week was a bit of a fluke.  I was trying for a more masculine card – or even kind of gender neutral.  And I wanted to play with more of the Adventure Bound DSP.  I didn’t start with a design from anywhere.  Just sat down and started putting things together.  And ended up really LOVING the result!!  Take a look-see:

The front is just a Sahara Sand mat, with a piece of the Adventure Bound DSP SNAIL’d to it and then the entire layered piece is SNAIL’d to a Night of Navy Card Base.  I did take just a few minutes to lightly sponge the edges of the Sahara Sand mat with a little Night of Navy ink before I adhered everything together.

I used my Chalk Talk Framelits and cut out the largest of the dies from some more Sahara Sand card stock.  I edged it in Night of Navy with one of my handy Sponge Daubers.  Then I pulled out my favorite sentiment set  – Sassy Salutations – and I inked it up with Night of Navy.  It’s length drove the offset on the tag.

So, there I was – with a card front that looked like a barn door and a tag that said Happy Birthday.  And not a lot of inspiration.  I started digging thru my Biscotti-box of embellishments and came across some buttons in the Artisan Embellishment Kit.  As I played with a few of them, I realized that the silver button looked quite reminiscent of a concha on a western saddle.  Then it occurred to be that our Linen Thread could look like a lariat rope.  And…inspiration hit!

I SNAIL’d the tag onto the card from, and then wound up a length of Linen Thread into a loose lasso.  Using glue dots, I adhered the button and the “lariat” to the top of the tag – making it look (okay, maybe just a little and you have to suspend your understanding of how gravity works, but….) like a tag hanging from a peg on a barn wall.  Squint yer eyes – you’ll see it! I just had to add a little final “bling” with a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels.  Couldn’t help myself!

That finished off the front and I moved inside.  I simply sponged another piece of Sahara Sand CS with Night of Navy ink, and SNAIL’d a scrap piece of the DSP across the bottom.  Easy peasy and done!

The end result is a card that I think could go to a man (even with the bling) or a woman.  I really like how it turned out – and I hope that you do, too! And, if you want to CASE this, but don’t have the Artisan Embellishment Kit, I think you could use one of the cool brads from the Antique Brads collection.

Here’s where we are on the Butterfly Thinlits.  This was posted Wednesday, 15 Apr:

“We have received notice from our supplier that the container with the Butterflies Thinlits Dies was finally unloaded from the ship; however, there is a shortage of trucks, which has delayed the container being picked up. We have secured a truck to pick up the container, and, as of now, it is scheduled to be delivered to Stampin’ Up! on Friday. We will post an update as soon as they are available.”

Splendor (and Butterflies!) in the Grass

The Adventure Bound DSP is wonderful paper.  I’ve gotten some cool cards made using it – but it takes a little thought.  It’s so photo-realistic that it tends to push me towards more literal “scenes” than some of the other paper we have.  Case in point – the card share I have for you today.  You all know I’m in California, which is – sadly – under one of the worst droughts they’ve seen in….well, forever?  So, I think when I put this card together and selected this particular DSP, I was craving some green grass.  Or perhaps that’s my subconscious telling me I’m homesick?  Whatever the cause, I pulled out the verdant green grass DSP.  And, since SU! doesn’t have Haflinger-pony-punkin-head-punches (are you listening, SU!??), I went for butterflies. Take a look-see:

My influence for this card layout came from the Pals Paper Arts design #245.

Kind of obviously, I didn’t get 5 shapes across the bottom – but, I came close!  So, I started by punching my Bitty Butterflies with my Bitty Butterfly Punch, making sure to change the angle with each punch, so it would look more natural.  I dithered a bit about whether I wanted to have the Crushed Curry mat show thru the punches, but ultimately decided on a little bit of the wondrous Painted Blooms DSP.  Now, I certainly COULD have just SNAIL’d a strip of that paper behind the punches, but – no!  I wanted actual BLOOMS in the punched areas – and I couldn’t find anywhere on the Painted Blooms DSP that would put flowers in all three butterflies.  So….I carefully punched out 3 Bitty Butterflies from the DSP.  After trying to figure out how to adhere them down first and still get them inside the punched out butterflies…I finally ended up SNAILing the grassy DSP to the Crushed Curry mat and then ever-so-carefully adhering the Painted Blooms guys (with glue dots) inside the punches.  Yes, it was persnickety in the extreme!  But!  Once they were in, and accented with some Pearl Basic Jewels, and outlined with teensy White Gel Pen “stitches”….I was very glad I’d taken the time to do it this way.  The glue dots actually made them a little higher than the surrounding paper, so it gives it just a little texture.  I really love how they turned out!

For the sentiment, I cut out a circle of the grassy DSP with the Circle Collection Framelits and then a Crushed Curry circle mat with my 2 1/2″ punch.  I punched another Bitty Butterfly, and then SNAIL’d the two pieces together.  The sentiment comes from the Sale-a-Bration Big Day set – which I inked in Versamark, sprinkled with Crushed Curry Stampin’ Emboss Powder, and heat embossed.  Then I embellished my butterfly with more pearls and “stitches”!

I wrapped some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine around the layered card front, adhering it with tape on the backside and used a little piece of tape to pull the center together.  Then the sentiment circle is popped over the BT with some SU Dimensionals.  I attached the whole layered piece to my Mossy Meadow Card Base with more dimensionals and…the front was done!

On the inside, I started with a Crushed Curry liner, and punched 3 more Bitty Butterflies (I was on a roll!).  I almost got silly and let the Mossy Meadow show thru the punched shapes, but I caught myself just in the nick of time.  A little strip of grass is adhered with SNAIL behind the punches and then the whole liner was attached to the card.  I added my stitches – and then decided to leave the pearls off.  What do you think?  Should I add the pearls like is on the front, or….do you like them like this?

So – that did it for the card.  I do really like looking at it – I can almost smell the grass and hear my pony-girls munching it – they’re pretty much munching machines, so this grass wouldn’t last over long!  I’m sticking their picture in here – cause it’s my blog post and I can! 😉  This is them in their stalls munching some hay.  They’re equal-opportunity-munchers!  And the tiniest bit spoiled, maybe….. this picture is from last summer.  They (and their big buddy Bo) spend the hot and buggy summer nights in their suites stalls, with hay and water and fluffy shavings and a fan (carefully positioned so they can stand IN the breeze or OUT of the breeze….).

Double the Flutter-by Basics!

Today is my 25th Wedding Anniversary!  Wow – hard to believe I’m old enough to have been married 25 years – and I did NOT get married when I was 15! 😉

Today ALSO marks almost exactly 3 months since I started blogging about Stampin’ Up!- so, it’s kind of a double Anniversary for me!  On my very first blog post on 9 Jan 15, I showed you how to make a triple-matted card.  It used one of my favorite Stampin’ Up! sets – the Ornamental Pine.  For today, I want to show you a similar technique (look here to see several pictures that will show you the stacking technique), this time only using two layers (so, it’s a little quicker to do) and using one of the awesome 2015 Occasions stamp bundles – Butterfly Basics.  But, this technique is universal and could be used with all kinds of image combinations and sentiments.  Take a look-see:

Double Mat Kindness Outside 3 WatermarkedStart out by cutting your neutral mat – which will match your card base.  In this case, I used Perfect Plum.  Then, cut the “art” pieces.  I used one of the soft blue pieces in the Painted Blooms DSP (we get so caught up in the wildly beautiful flower images in this DSP that I think we sometimes lose sight of the very versatile, softer neutral sides – be sure to look on BOTH sides! VBG).  With everything cut, layer the art pieces together with a tiny piece of tape – either double sided or regular rolled in a little tube (you just want it to not be a permanent bond!). In this case, there will only be two pieces of paper stuck together.

I started by stamping the sentiment from the SAB Lotus Blossom set in Blackberry Bliss in the bottom right corner of the smaller of the two pieces (what will become the “top” of the stack). Then, I stamped the flower image – one of the prettiest we have, I think! – in Soft Suede.  I colored the images – and yes, I used my Blendies, because I built this card before they became unavailable.  If you already have them – I used Rich Razzleberry and Wild Wasabi.  If you don’t have Blendies, I’d look at the Stampin’ Write Markers in Blackberry Bliss and Pear Pizzazz.  Perhaps accent the flower with Rich Razzleberry and the leaves with some Mossy Meadow.  Be creative!  Then, in Crushed Curry, I stamped all over with the honeycomb stamps – ensuring that several of the stamps went off the paper.  I also stamped the small butterfly in Blackberry Bliss kind of randomly around the image  and the sentiment. Again, be sure to let some of them go off the edges AND cross over to the bottom paper! And that completed the art piece!

The three pieces are SNAIL’d together (just be sure to keep the art pieces in the same orientation as when you stamped them) and then wrapped twice with a piece of the Painted Blooms Thick Twine (again from the Occasions catalog) that was finished with a little bow.  I’m getting so used to making bows – at least with twine (LOL) – that I almost make excuses to use one these days.  (Okay – maybe not all THAT far – but I’m sure not worried about making one anymore!)  The whole front was then popped onto the card front with Dimensionals.  A punched butterfly (Butterfly Basics stamp in Blackberry Bliss, punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch), embellished with some Pearl Basic Jewels, is adhered to one of the stamped flutter-by’s with a glue dot.  One final pearl, right in the center of the flower – and the front was done!

I used more of the Painted Blooms DSP on the inside, stamping the edge with a few Crushed Curry Honeycombs and a little flock of butterflies (did you know that a group of butterflies can be called a swarm, rabble, kaleidoscope, or flutter?!? LOVE the idea of a flutter-of-butterflies!)  These, as well as the sentiment that I pulled from the Painted Petals stamp set, were done in Blackberry Bliss.

I love these layered mat card – double or triple, doesn’t matter.  They look complicated and “special” and yet we know they’re not hard to do at all!  I think this would make a lovely set of Thank You notes to give to someone as a gift.  Hope you like this card share – and give double/triple matting a try real soon!

Birthday Bash Blog Hop!

Today is the February Happy Stampers Blog Hop!  The theme this month is Birthday projects – which is timely, since a bunch of us signed up to be part of the Birthday Bomb.  That’s where the people who sign up all send a B-day card to everyone else on the list on their birthday (was that the Department of Redundancy Department?!?!).  So everyone gets a bunch of wonderful, handmade SU-product birthday cards.  Fun, huh?  This hop theme gives us all a chance to pump up our stash of b-day cards to use for the bomb and all our friends and relatives through the year.  Several of us threw our hats in the ring this month to take part in the hop, so be sure to check out the other ladies’ projects after you browse thru mine! AND – the part I know you’re waiting for! – we’re all giving out a little sumpin-sumpin for Blog Candy (best kind of candy there is!), so be sure to see them all!

Getcha a cuppa something yummy and stretch out a little bit.  We’re each sharing two projects today so this is gonna be a long one!

My first card for you was inspired by Mojo Monday Sketch 386:

mojo386This is a tall and skinny design and so I did some mental math to be sure that what I ended up with would fit in a Stampin’ Up Medium Envelope (it does, with plenty of room for the embellishments). See what you think:

I used the Best Year Ever DSP (Sale-A-Bration) as a color-jumping-off-point, starting with a Sahara Sand tall-and-skinny card base.  I built the front of the card by starting with a Whisper White Card Stock panel that I stamped with the Something Lacy background stamp in Crumb Cake.  The horizontal piece is from the Best Year Ever DSP and is SNAIL’d right to the stamped mat.

I built the next layer by embossing a piece of Whisper White CS with the Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and adhering it to another Sahara Sand Card Stock mat with SNAIL.  I wrapped some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine around the layered piece, securing it on the back with some plain tape.  Then I stamped another piece of Whisper White CS with the flower image in the Crazy About You stamp set and cut it out with the Flower Medallion punch. (Attention.  This is a funds-efficiency public service announcement:  this punch can be bundled with the Petal Potpourri Stamp set in the Occasions catalog.  AND – it also punches this flower in Crazy About You.  That’s what we call getting more bang for your buck! We now return you to your regularly scheduled Blog Hop).

I ran another little piece of Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine through one of the little metal buttons in the Occasions Catalog Artisan Embellishment Kit and made a little bow.  Uhh – it’s all just kinda….”little”, I guess! ;0  Then I glued it to the center of the flower with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and Dimensional’d the whole thing to the front of the mat.  The sentiment comes from the Itty Bitty Banner Bundle and is stamped in Crushed Curry and cut with the matching die in the Big Shot.  Then I SNAIL’d it to a piece of the Best Year Ever DSP and fussy cut a little mat out.  I SNAIL’d it to the mat, aligning it below the wrapped baker’s twine and under the flower.

Adhering the whole layered front mat to the card base with Dimensionals finished up the front of the card.  I treated the inside to a Whisper White liner, with a couple of leftover pieces of Sahara Sand CS and some more Best Year Ever DSP.

Just to finish everything off, I used a final scrap piece of the DSP to line the inside of a Crumb Cake Medium Envelope flap.  And here’s how the whole thing turned out!

I think it turned out kind of pretty and I like the kind of tone-on-tone thing goin’ on with the pops of complementary colors.

Y’all still with me?  Good.  I’ll wait a few minutes if you need to take a break…..10….9….8….7….6….5 4 3 2 1! And, we’re back.

Card two was inspired by my little ole brain.  I kind of stayed with a similar color theme, but with a different twist.  And, for some reason, I wanted it to be a small note card, so I used the measurements of the SU Note Cards and Envelopes.

Ever since reading about coloring on vellum with the Blendabilities, I’d been wanting to give it a try, and I really wanted to color that gorgeous flower branch in the Indescribable Gift set (it’s not just for Easter!).  Here’s what I came up with – take a look-see!

First I stamped the flower image onto a piece of vellum with Versamark Ink and sprinkled it with SU Early Espresso Embossing Powder.  I carefully heat embossed it, keeping my heat tool moving.  It did curl the vellum a little bit, but I lightly heated the back side while speaking steely to it and it straightened out and flew right.  Then, I got down to the fun stuff!  I pulled out my Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi, Calypso Coral and the Skin Tone Assortment Blendabilities.  I colored with the Pink Pirouette first, flooding with the light color and then blending in the medium and darker colors.  Trick here is to do small sections at a time, so that the colors blend all by themselves.  Then, I used the lightest Calypso Coral to just touch on some of the darker “shaded” areas.  The leaves got a similar treatment (okay, no Calypso Coral on those), with the Wild Wasabi blendies.  I used the two darkest pens in the Skin Tone Assortment for the branches.  Then I patiently let it all dry.  No, not really so patiently!

But dry it finally was, so I used a little liquid glue to adhere it to a Sahara Sand CS mat (staying as close to the edges as possible), and then SNAIL’d all THAT to a Pink Pirouette mat. Using some scraps of Sahara Sand, I cut the “frame” pieces out with the Edgelits die (foreshadowing here….blog candy……) and adhered them over the edge of the vellum with tiny dabs of Liquid Multipurpose Glue.  I made sure the corners were as straight and lined up as possible and then sort of finished them off with 4 of the smallest pearls in the Artisan Embellishment Kit.  Then,  I stamped the sentiment from the Petite Pairs set in Crumb Cake and wrapped some Blushing Bride Baker’s Twine around and finished it with a nice little bow.

Adhering the mat art to the Sahara Sand card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals finished off the front of the card!

On the inside, I stamped part of the same flower image in the bottom corner of a piece of Whisper White CS and colored it in the manner as the front image.  I completed the sentiment from Petite Pairs in Crumb Cake and called it a day!

Spring is in the Cards!

Monday morning dawned bright and beautiful in California.  Not!  It was rainy and drizzly and – actually – kind of nice.  IMHO, the high desert is at its most beautiful when the rain is just starting to clear and the sun is shining down thru the clouds, illuminating the oddly-green-for-this-time-of-year desert floor.  And the smell of the desert after a rain is something you have to experience to understand – just wonderful!

But, it WAS chilly (still is!).  And breezy – that’s not so very unusual!  So, when it came time to create a card to share with you today, I was kind of thinking about Spring.  It’s just around the corner – and I know Wayne is R-E-A-D-Y!  And I know there’s a lot of folks in the east and on the plains that are ready as well.

ONE of my two boxes came today.  Mailed same day.  Same address….Ruh-roh….. hope that second box isn’t AWOL. Perhaps it will arrive tomorrow.  I sure hope so, because my paper trimmer is in that box, and the one I bought as a “stand-in” ain’t really cuttin’ it!  Oh – ha, pun not intended!

So, here we go.  This is a very simple, very clean card today.  It took me longer to organize (sort of) my tools and whatnot from my box, figure out the trimmer, and assemble my “photo studio” than it did to build it.  Makes it a nice, quick card for when you need a pretty Thank You.  Or almost any other sentiment!

I started with a piece of the Painted Blooms DPS – making sure I did my cuts to get some painted blooms framed as I wanted them on the card.  This piece is mounted with SNAIL onto a Wild Wasabi mat.  I stamped the sentiment from the Painted Petals Stamp Set in Strawberry Slush, and then mounted the layered piece onto a Strawberry Slush card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped some of the smallest butterflies from the Butterfly Basics set onto some Whisper White Card Stock – 2 in Pink Pirouette and one in Crushed Curry (stamped off once on scrap paper and then stamped without re-inking) and punched them out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.  I stuck them on with some Glue Dots, and gave each of them a single teensy Pearl Basic Jewel to round things out.  And – did I mention this was quick?!?! – the outside was done! 🙂

The inside got a VERY simple treatment – a piece of Whisper White CS, with a strip of left over Strawberry Slush CS layered with a scrap of Painted Blooms DSP (actually the back – decided to give it a little pop).

Tall and Skinny Wishes

Happy Monday, y’all (or is that an oxymoron!?!).  I bet today finds you 1) excited and happy that the Patriots won or 2) recovering from the devastating, last-possible-second loss of the Seahawks or 3) wondering….”huh?  There was a big game yesterday?  All I saw were some funny commercials interspersed with some guys running around on grass.”  However you spent your Sunday evening, I hope you’re well and recovered, cause it’s Monday now, so…. 😉

Speaking of Monday, this is the day I announce the winner of last week’s Blog Candy!  Drum roll….and yea, you have to read all the way through to the end to see who won! See how I did that?

This week I made a card to share using some Irresistibly Yours DSP and the Butterfly Basics stamp set (from the Occasions Catalog).  I based it – pretty loosely, as you’ll soon see! – on the Mojo Monday Sketch #382.

This card fits into an A2 envelope, with plenty of room to spare to accommodate the embellishments.  I think the entire ensemble turned out really pretty!

To build my card, I cut a piece of Very Vanilla card stock to 3 1/2″ x 11″ and then scored and folded it at 5 1/2″ on the long side.  That yielded the Tall and Skinny look driven by the MM sketch.  And, that’s the dimensions they gave me on their website, so the math was pretty easy! ;0

I sponged a piece of the Irresistibly Yours DSP with Soft Suede ink, and then wiped the excess off of the resist areas with a paper towel.  Then I SNAIL’d a length of SU Natural Cotton Ribbon onto a piece of Crumb Cake CS (which I’d lightly sponged with Crumb Cake ink) and then SNAIL’d that layer onto the DSP.  I actually attached the ribbon to the CS, leaving a little excess on both ends, before I attached everything to the DSP – and then I wrapped the ribbon around and secured it to the back with tape.  That way I had a nice, smooth edge, and won’t have to worry about the ribbon fraying on the edges.

Over that, I ran some Daffodil Delight Stitched 1/4″ Grosgrain ribbon.  Like the wide ribbon, I wrapped the ends around the back and secured them with tape.

Then I cut out my art square and rounded the corners (note to self: get oval collection framelits in next order…!!).  I stamped the flowers from the Butterfly Basics onto the square in Soft Suede and colored it in with my Pink Pirouette and Old Olive Blendabilities (that I got for Sale-a-Bration!).  My Butterfly Basic sentiment  is stamped in Strawberry Slush onto another square of Very Vanilla.  Both these pieces were matted onto Crumb Cake CS and then layered onto the card front.  The sentiment is SNAILd and the flower is popped up with Dimensionals.

I punched out a few Bitty Butterflies from some scrap Irresistibly Yours DSP that I’d lightly colored with my lightest Pink Pirouette Blendie, and very artfully (she says modestly) arranged them onto the card, using glue dots.  I embellished them with some Pearl Basic Jewels and added one more pearl to the center of the largest flower, and called it good.  The card front was SNAILd onto the card base – there’s plenty of “popping” already!

On the inside, I went ahead and added a liner, still in Very Vanilla, just to keep the card feeling solid.  I edged the piece with Pink Pirouette ink by simply running all the edges across the ink pad itself.  Using the smallest butterfly stamp in the Butterfly Basics, I stamped a little swarm of them (what IS a group of butterflies called?  Swarm?  Herd? Flock?  Must Google that) across the bottom in Pink Pirouette.  I left this card blank on the inside, so it can be used for almost any occasion, I’d think.

I used a Crumb Cake Envelope, and stamped the flower in Crumb Cake on the front, in the bottom right corner, just to finish things off.

Bitty Butterflies to Celebrate the Arrival of A New Little Girl!

Yeah! It’s the weekend and I wanted to share another girly baby card with you.  But, first two little pieces of news.  News one – today, I’ll be at the Heritage Stamp Show with my friends Amy Koenders, Sue Prather and Heather Van Looy.  It looks to be a lot of fun – we’ll have a card display and make & takes along with catalogs and other goodies!  Here‘s some info about the show, if you happen to be in the area – it’s at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds, 2405 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30046.  Second – and this is HUGE (well, for me, at least!).  Today marks the first post I’m writing on my brand new computer!  This is really pretty epic.  My old computer is a vintage 2007 model iMac.  And, in 2007, it rocked.  In 2014, it IS a rock!  I tell you true – I could feel hairs on my head getting gray waiting for that poor thing to load a website, or – gasp! – save a file!  I am a died-in-the-wool Apple girl – so this post comes to you from my new MacBook Pro.  And.  It.  Is.  Like.  LIGHTNING!  Of course, if I hang on to THIS one for 7 years, it may well be a rock, too.  But not today – whoo whoooo!

Okay – that’s the end of the new news.  Let’s get to the card.  This one is purely girl.  All pink and yellow and pretty.  I used the Stamping and Blogging Sketch #87 as my inspiration.  If you click the picture below, you’ll go to the wonderful card that Sandi MacIver did with this sketch.  I really DID build my card before I saw Sandi’s creation – even though it doesn’t look like it!  I guess great minds think alike.  😉

I used Strawberry Slush Card Stock for my card base.  I folded it so that it was a tall card, opening long-ways.  Yikes – that hardly made sense at all – here’s the picture so you can see what I tried to say.

Sweet Girl Card Front 1 Watermarked

I ran a piece of Painted Blooms DSP (Occasions Catalog) through the Big Shot in the Happy Hearts Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and then punched the “bottom” edge with one of my Martha Stewart edge punches.  I SNAIL’d that to the card base and moved on to the rest of my elements.  I stacked 3 squares of paper and card stock for the sentiment – the largest is a piece of the Painted Blooms DSP – cut with a scalloped square framelit and edged with my Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Write Marker. that I first stamped with the  also in Strawberry Slush Ink.  I inked up the Something Lacy Background Stamp (Annual Catalog) with my Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Write marker and stamped a piece of my Strawberry Slush card stock – which I then used for the middle sentiment mat and 5 of my Bitty Butterflies.

The sentiment is from the Baby We’ve Grown set in the Annual Catalog.  I stamped it onto a scalloped square in Soft Suede Ink, and then colored it with my Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight Blendabilities.  I SNAIL’d the whole stack together and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  The butterfly panel started with a piece of Whisper White CS, embossed with the Happy Hearts TIEF that I SNAIL’d to a Strawberry Slush mat.  The butterflies are all cut with the Bitty Butterfly punch and then I sort of rolled the wings up a tiny it to give them a little life.  The odd-man-out butterfly is white CS stamped with the Lovely Lace background in Strawberry Slush and colored with a Daffodil Delight Blendability (this is a free item available in the Sale-A-Bration catalog, going on through 31 Mar).  The butterflies were stuck to the white panel with a little bit of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Then the panel was adhered to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Just to finish it off, I gave the odd butterfly a few Pearl Basic Jewels and each little baby girl shoe got a tiny pearl – just to send the cute factor right over the top!  And – done!

On the inside, I edged another piece of Whisper White CS and stamped the bunny from the Baby We’ve Grown set in Soft Suede.  He got a quick color with the Blendabilites in Pink Pirouette and the Strawberry Slush Stampin’ Write Marker.  The sentiment, from the Petite Pairs stamp set, in Soft Suede, brought it all home.

I think this is a really cute and happy card.  And the design would be easy-peasy to use for a boy just by changing up to blue tones, or you could go more gender-neutral and use greens and yellows.  Which, since it appears that the friends I made these cards for all are having boys….I should have done!  Anyone need a cute girl baby card….?? Let me know.
