Stampin’ Up! Abigail Cottage Rose Birthday Card with Video Tutorial

Good morning on the edge of the weekend!  Do you have fun plans?  I’ll be spending part of the weekend attending (virtually speaking!) a Stampin Up event for Incentive Trip earners who…thank you COVID!…didn’t get to do the planned incentive trip this year!  I know it’s going to be fun – we’ve already gotten a really cool gift from them – and I’ll share pictures soon!  So…I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ve got in store for us! 🎉🎉🎉

My card today uses the so pretty Cottage Rose Bundle with the could-this-be-any-more-wonderful Abigail Rose DSP!  And…we’ve got some amazing Natural Finish 7/8″ Ribbon from the suite – that you can color OR stamp!!  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one – and the reason for the scored and embossed panel – was inspired by the Global Design Project sketch challenge.

And I made a video tutorial yesterday on how to make this card – if you were able to watch, I appreciate you spending part of your week with me.  If not, and you’d like to take a gander, here ’tis!

I started with a beautiful piece of the Abigail Rose DSP that I matted on Petal Pink to make the card front.

Next up, I embossed a 2″ x 5 1/4″ panel of Crumb Cake cardstock in one of the Elegant Eucalyptus 3D Embossing Folder.  Then I used my Simply Scored Score Tool to score lines in the embossed panel – I scored it at 1/2″, 1″, 1 1/2″.

Then I matted it on Petal Pink and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Using the dies in the bundled Cottage Flowers die set, I cut several Soft Succulent flowers and leaves and several Petal Pink leaves.

I stamped the leaves image from Cottage Rose twice in Crumb Cake ink on a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and cut them with the coordinating Cottage Flowers dies.  Then I used a Q-tip to lightly color the leaves in Old Olive ink.  Tip:  just like when you use Sponge Daubers or Blending Brushes, swipe the Q-tip on a piece of scrap paper before moving to your image – to ensure that you don’t have too much ink.  The drier the Q-tip, the better!

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the stamped and die cut leaves and the detailed die cuts to the card front.

I cut a length of the new Natural Finish 7/8″ Ribbon and used my Dark Soft Succulent Stampin Blend to add a strip of color along one edge.  I frayed the ends of the ribbon and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I stamped the Cottage Rose sentiment in Soft Succulent on a piece of Very Vanilla and punched it out with the new Lasting Label Punch.  I popped it over the ribbon and flowers with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

To finish it off, I added some Soft Succulent gems from the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds.

On the inside, I stamped a second Cottage Rose sentiment in Soft Succulent on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  In the corner, in Crumb Cake ink, I added the large floral image from the set.  Again using Q-tips, I colored the leaves in Old Olive and added Petal Pink to the large flower.  I used the Light Petal Pink Stampin’ Blend to color the tiny flowers in the image.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into my Thick Very Vanilla card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got the Cottage Rose image on the front, colored in the same way as on the inside of the card…

…and more of the lovely Abigail Rose DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So…was I right??  Is this not an absolutely STUNNING suite?!?  It starts with the gorgeous Abigail Rose DSP (I anticipate using a LOT of this in the next year!) and is perfectly followed up by the Cottage Rose stamp set and bundled Cottage Flowers Die set.   And – do NOT miss the Natural Finish 7/8″ Ribbon – you see it colored here with a Stampin’ Blend – but…you can also STAMP it!  Which I did for you in the video! 🙂

I hope you like!

And…I’ve also created a printable PDF with written instructions and a list of the products used to create this project.  You can download, print and/or save it by clicking this image:

  1. Such a pretty card!! Love the colors, beautiful layering too! Well Finn is just a small dog…he still fits under the chair perfectly. 😉

  2. Stunning! Love this card, the colors, the style, the embossing, the DSP, stamping, die cutting, colored fringed ribbon….everything! Will be CASEing this one!

  3. Faith Simpson

I love this card…..it looks like a true “Mary” card to me…..beautiful, layered, perfect colors…..I don’t have this suite yet….but I will get it!!!
Is someone sitting in that chair?? I think Finn likes to be as close as possible (since he is a bit big for a lap)…..he is a sweetheart.

    • stampsnlingers

Yes – his Dad is in the chair. And yes – that’s probably it – he’s as close as he can get without climbing up!! 🙂 Thanks, Faith – he’s a pretty sweet kid!! 🙂

  4. Pat C.

Beautiful card, Mary. Love the color combo.
