Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here Just Sending the Greatest Greetings!

Good Friday, y’all!  Welcome to the last day of September!  And, for a minute, it’s going to be Fall!  It’s lovely here today!

Funny story. Well – not really funny ha-ha, more like funny you’ve-got-to-be-kidding-me!

Remember this card?

Right.  Yesterday, I printed out my shipping label (gotta love Click-and-Ship from the Post Office).  Then I carefully wrapped a little gift up in tissue, wrote my little note to my friend and his wife on my cute little card, and stuck it in my Small Flat Rate box.  Then I zipped up to the mailbox and stuck it in there with a couple of other packages.  Plenty of time for the post to run.  Congratulating myself all the way.

Last night, as I was getting ready for bed, I happened to glance at the printer.  On it was a USPS label.

To my friend.  In Wisconsin.  I stared at it stupidly for a moment, trying to figure out why there was a label to Len on the printer.

You already know – right?

Yup.  I mailed the little box with no postage.

Or address.

Or return address.

Nada.  Zip.  Zilch.  Nutin’.

Which means they can’t even return it to me.  I called the PO this morning.  Unless my mail lady happens to have looked at it when she got back to the Post Office, and remembered where she’d picked it up, and remembered to put it in her truck this morning….my little box has gone to the dead letter office.  Of which there is one.  One.  In the entire country!

My little box is sitting next to the thousands of letters to Santa and the Tooth Fairy.  Probably never to be seen again. 🙁

Sigh….I guess I’ll give it a day or two and then re-make the card and try again!

My brain….what in the world!??!

For today, though, no duplicate card.  Well…that’s not entirely true.  You see, I made another card for my friend, this time a Get Well card.  She just loves the Sitting Here stamp set and requests it every time!  I’m maybe going to have to tell her it did a Note 7 on me…

🙂

Too soon?  Sorry.

Anywho – I made her card with the Sitting Here swing (converted to a bench) and the dog in his bed.  I added some Petals & Paisleys DSP and a couple of sentiments from the Greatest Greetings stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The design comes from the Fusion Birthday Bash Challenge:

fusion-sketch
I did some additional matting on this one, using them as frames for the pretty DSP.  I SNAILd a piece of the Petals & Paisleys DSP onto a Mint Macaron mat and then a Cajun Craze mat.  These colors just don’t seem like they ought to work together, but they really do, don’t they?!?

Then I made the banner.  It’s another design from Petals & Paisleys, SNAILd to Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze.  I punched each piece with the Banner Triple Punch before SNAILing it all together.  Then I SNAILd it to the card front.

Using Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue, I laid a short strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon across the banner and the card front.

My art circle is a Cajun Craze scalloped-edge circle cut with the Circles Layering Framelits, then a straight edged Mint Macaron circle.  Finally is the Very Vanilla circle.  On that, I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso.  This is one long sentiment, that I divided up by inking just the portion I needed – easy to do with photopolymer stamps!  Then I lightly flicked the edges with a sponge inked with Crumb Cake.

To add some softness, I wound some loops of Copper Metallic Thread around using Glue Dots and used some Stampin’ Dimensionals and Liquid Glue to adhere the circle over the banner, thread and burlap ribbon.

I stamped the Sitting Here swing in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla, then colored it with Crumb Cake ink, using my Clear Wink of Stella and picking up ink from the ink pad lid.  I used my Mint Macaron Stampin’ Write Marker to color the bench cushion.  Then I fussy cut it – which was really quick and easy!

The dog is stamped in Delightful Dijon, then masked, and I added the basket over the top of him in Soft Suede.  Then I colored the dog in Delightful Dijon and the basket in Crumb Cake with the Clear Wink of Stella brush.  Then I fussy cut the whole thing – dog, basket and all.

I adhered the bench with Liquid Glue and then used Liquid Glue and a Stampin’ Dimensional to stick on the sleeping pup.  Finally, I stamped a little pillow in Soft Suede, colored it with Pacific Point, Crushed Curry and Old Olive Stampin’ Write Markers and fussy cut it.  I rolled the back with my stylus, and popped it on the bench with a Stampin’ Dimensional.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I went back to my non-SU! lab stamp (by request!), and stamped him in Delightful Dijon in the middle of my Very Vanilla panel.  Then I used Crushed Curry to color him in with my Clear Wink of Stella Brush.  For the sentiment, I pulled out the Greatest Greetings stamp set.  Using my Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker, I inked up just the words “Get Well Soon” on the stamp that says “Get Well Sooner” and then I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp that right over the top of the yellow lab.

I used the same marker to free-hand a couple of exclamation points.  Seemed like a good idea – and also I had a tiny little smudge that I just couldn’t get gone… 🙂

I matted it on the Mint Macaron and Cajun Craze, and then into my Very Vanilla card base.  I SNAILd the front on as well, and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another yellow lab on the front…

…and some Petals & Paisleys DSP on the envelope flap.  And then, cuz I could and it was just staring me in the face… I added Sending Smiles from the Greatest Greetings set in Early Espresso! 🙂

Et Voila!  One (last!) card with Sitting Here (I promise!!) and some Petals & Paisleys DSP.  Of course, the Greatest Greetings stamp set is quite aptly named – it’s a wonderful font and has….great!…sentiments!  Hope you like! 🙂

  1. Hahahaha! Yep, been there, done that. Bummer on your MIA card, hope that your mail lady can find it for you!

Love the colors and the critters on your card today. Great design and perfect use of the sketch. 🙂

  2. Me, too. But it didn’t come back yesterday, so…. Probably have a redo! 😥 Thanks, Amy! 😊

  3. Mom

Oh. Dear. I wish your misadventure seemed a bit less familiar. What a poopy loss of a wonderful card, not to mention the gift…and the time…and the effort… Maybe if you went to the P.O. given the usual operational speed of your P.O. (well, the lack thereof) it is probably still waiting in their “to do when we get to it” queue.
Today’s card is another great combo.

    • The PO has actually been remarkably helpful. The lady did a missing-package report and called me this morning to tell me she’d talked to the carrier. Who is not my usual lady. The young girl who was filling in just dumped everything at the bins. It be gone, baby, gone! So….will re-make. Thanks, Mom! 🙂

OH, NO!! After all the work & a gift as well………..I am so sorry!! Sometimes the PO will come thru with a surprise……..but with no return address it may be hard!! I have done that with a missing stamp & in our little town the PO mistress put a stamp on it & then put a little “bill” in my box!! But, that is a small town for you……..I mean a small town!! We are lucky to still have our PO…….but on reduced hours. Good luck on that one. I like your card today……..I do like that stamp set but too much coloring for me!!

  5. The lady at the PO was very nice – even asked the carrier the next day about it. It was a new little girl who was hurrying – just grabbed it and went. Maybe my regular carrier would have taken a second to look…. It was surely my bad! Thanks, Karen! 🙂
