Happy Sunday-from-Atlanta! Whoo-hoo! 🙂
Got home to rain and a bounty of vegetables in the garden! Holy smokes, y’all! Beans, chili peppers, tomatoes tomatoes tomatoes!! I’ll post a picture tomorrow after I pick everything. I can’t wait to eat me a fresh tomato sammich – got to get some cheap old white bread. Tomato – mayo (NOT Miracle Whip, no-sirrreee!) – salt – pepper…..MMMMMMM!!!
I know you’re all wondering about Duck Duck. Well, I put on my bestest flowerdy sundress and went to the pond. Considered going barefoot but that seemed like a not-so-good plan.
She didn’t show. There was no slo-mo running/waddling towards each other across a flower-strewn field. 🙁
We did hear her dulcet tones from next door while we were feeding. Maybe she’s thinking we’ll tote her goodies over to her.
She’s probably got another think coming, if you catch my drift! Two can play this game….
So, anywho….on to my card for today. I gave this card to the hotel staff when I left, to thank them for their kindness to me this past few weeks. It’s made with the new Thoughtful Branches bundle – which y’all can get day after tomorrow! Take a look-see:
I got both my layout and color palette from a couple of challenges. The layout is drawn from the CAS(E) This Sketch #183:
And the color scheme is from the Pals Paper Arts #311:
The beauty of this card is how easy it is – thanks to the beautiful images and sentiments in the Thoughtful Branches set and the great Beautiful Branches Thinlits.
To begin, I stamped the tree leaves image in Pink Pirouette on a panel of Whisper White card stock. Then I double-matted it on a piece of Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette card stock panels.
I cut three of the tree die cuts from Beautiful Branches in Smoky Slate. Then I used Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to stick them all together in a stack.
I laid the stacked tree in place on the card front, and then carefully got the Thoughtful Branches image where I wanted it – and stamped it in Marina Mist ink. Then I used some more Liquid Glue to adhere the tree onto the card.
The little bird, stamped in Marina Mist and cut with the matching little bird die, is glued in place with some Liquid Glue. I also tied a double-strand bow from Blushing Bride Solid Baker’s Twine and adhered it to the tree.
The final step was the addition of a tiny little Pink Pirouette heart Enamel Shape by the sentiment, and the card front was done!
Now – normally at this point, I’d tell you what I did on the inside of the card and show you a picture.
Turns out, though, I didn’t actually take a picture of the inside of the card. I have no idea why not. And – of course! – the card is sitting in Savannah! So….I’m going to tell you what I did….close your eyes and just imagine it’s beauty, okay?? 😉
I stamped the second Thoughtful Branches sentiment (“Because You Are”) in Marina Mist in the middle of the panel and then added one Pink Pirouette heart Enamel Shape by it. Then I stamped a single bird, in Marina Mist, in the bottom corner (you can actually see it in the third picture down from the top!). I double matted the panel on Smoky Slate and Pink Pirouette card stocks and then into my Marina Mist card base.
I popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
I stamped some Marina Mist and Pink Pirouette birds on the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope…
…and then added a couple three to the envelope flap.
Et Voila! Easy peasy – and kind of a different way to showcase this pretty bundle – but I think it’s kind of fun! Hope you like – and that you’re all ready to get this one for yourself on Tuesday!
Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the goodies you need to make this for yourself!

You can click on the picture below or check out this PDF to see which states are offering the holiday and relevant information for each state including holiday dates, products that qualify, and dollar limits per item.
You must place your order with Stampin’ Up! during the tax holiday period in order to receive these items tax-free (midnight on the first day to 11:59 PM on the last day of the tax holiday).
Keep in mind that this is a state sales tax holiday and may not apply to additional county, city, and special jurisdiction taxes. Lastly, Massachusetts normally participates in this holiday but they are not participating this year.

Very pretty Mary! Love the clean design, I’m sure that the hotel staff loved it! So duck-duck rudely sat at the neighbors house yelling for you to bring her some goodies…the nerve! 😉
Right?!? She definitely has a high opinion of herself, that’s for sure. Thanks, Amy! 🙂
Beautiful card. I suspect the hotel staff rarely get any, much less one so thoughtfully made and given.
Duck Duck honking for her corn via pond service??? Amusing. But NOT.
And I will have a tomato sammich,, please .
🙂
I hope they liked it! Thanks, Mom! 🙂
Wow, this is a beautiful card! Can’t wait to see your veggies! We are getting NO rain, and everyone around us is! Enjoy being home 🙂
You must be in a “blue hole” – which is not a good thing at this time of year!! 🙁 Thanks, Jari! 🙂
Yep, just as I thought……..Duck-Duck is playing hard to get!! Great card & I am sure the hotel staff was excited to get a nice thank you. I am sure that many staff people don’t get much recognition of good service!! An inspiration idea for many of us…….say “thank you” to service people. Have a nice day at home & looking forward to all the veggies & the rest of the saga!!
Yes, she is, the stinker! Thanks, Karen!! 🙂
Beautiful card! So thoughtful of you to thank the hotel staff! Pinning it:-) Sigh! So sorry Duck-Duck didn’t make an appearance for the slo-mo scene….maybe you needed a wreath of wildflowers perched atop your head? Well, don’t give up!
Hmmm. Hadn’t considered a wreath. Maybe she thought I wasn’t putting enough effort in…. 🙂 Thanks, Elisha! 🙂
I really love the twine placed on the tree! Never would have thought of that! So thank you for the inspiration! Great use of the colors and this set! Thanks for playing along with the Pals color challenge this week!
Thanks so much, Windy! And you’re welcome! 🙂
The hotel staff must have been surprised to receive such a pretty card! Love the way you stamped the pink under the tree branches. And the birds on the envelope ~ darling! Thanks for joining us this week for the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge!
I do hope they liked it, Peggy – thanks so much! 🙂
All I can say is STUNNING and that I am going to copy it.
THANK YOU.
Hugs: Mal, Melbourne, Australia
Thanks so much, Mal – and happy CASEing! 🙂
I love how you stamped on the cardstock and layered the tree diecut over top! Wonderful take on the sketch!
Thanks so much, Leigh! 🙂
Thanks a lot, Leigh! 🙂
Such a beautiful card! So glad you joined in the Pals Paper Arts challenge!
Thanks so much. Michelle! 🙂
