Stampin’ Up! Seasonal Painted Harvest

Happy Hawwmp Day, everyone!  Hope your week is going well!  Mine is…going!  And it went in such a way that I had to eat a peanut butter pumpkin.  But I only had one.  And I was able to keep from eating any donuts.  Again.

Just sayin’.

My card today is the result of…”oh, you’ve got to be kidding me.  I didn’t bring Cherry Cobbler card stock?!?”.  I say that because I was half way done with the card and went to pull out said Cherry Cobbler card stock to cut my mats.  Why?  Cuz I was playing with the TGIF Challenge which is a color challenge using…Cherry Cobbler.  And, I’d already stamped my Seasonal Lantern sentiment and Painted Harvest flower using Cherry Cobbler.

So – I decided to substitute Cajun Craze (right after I put in an emergency, 2-day shipping order for Cherry Cobbler and Crushed Curry card stock.  Yea.  Forgot that, too).  But I decided that the stamping didn’t look bad – even with the disconnect between the two colors.  So I went for it! Take a look-see:

I was using the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch to help me with the layout.

And the color scheme is, as I mentioned, from the TGIF Color Challenge.

So – let’s all squint our eyes and pretend that the mats on this card are Cherry Cobbler.

I tried!

I started with a Crumb Cake panel and, using the fern-y leaf image in the Painted Harvest stamp set, stamped it all over in Crumb Cake ink for a tone-on-tone effect.  Then I laid a strip of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon across it – adhering it with a little Liquid Glue.

I stamped the sentiment from the Seasonal Lantern stamp set above the burlap ribbon, in Cherry Cobbler ink.

Next up, I stamped the larger Painted Harvest flower image in Crushed Curry on a piece of Whisper White card stock.  I stamped it three times, inking and rotating the image a little bit with each stamp.  Then I used the inside image and stamped it a couple of times in Cherry Cobbler – again rotating it between the stamps.  I used Crumb Cake and stamped the flower inside image twice.

Say it with me…rotating the stamp a bit each time! 🙂

Then I fussy cut the flower.

I adhered a Delicate White Doily to the side of the panel with Liquid Glue then used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut off the excess.  Over that, I used a Foil Snowflake.

I smushed the vanilla side of the snowflake into my Versamark pad and then sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  Then I heated it up!  I adhered it over the doily and trimmed its excess, too.

And here’s where I discovered the lack of Cherry Cobbler card stock.  So – I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cajun Craze mat.  Then I wrapped a length of Jute Twine around it, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

I cut a pine bough in Crumb Cake, using the die in the Pretty Pines Thinlits.  Then I cut a second one from a piece of yellow Painted Autumn DSP.  Finally, using the die in the Patterned Pumpkins Thinlits, I cut the leaf/berry shape.  These two pieces I smooshed lightly into my Crushed Curry ink pad to make them a little more curry-ish.

Then I build the collage with Liquid Glue.  For the flower, I put a few Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and used them to wind some Linen Thread looks around – then I popped it over the other elements.

I used my Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Marker to add some “seeds” to the middle of the flower and then tied a bow from Jute Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I repeated the Painted Harvest flower in Crushed Curry, Cherry Cobbler and Crumb Cake in the corner of a Whisper White panel.  Then I added a few Crumb Cake leaves and Cajun Craze seeds.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Painted Harvest flower and leaves on the front…

…and I added a whole slew of Crumb Cake leaves on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think it turned out okay.  I don’t even think the two colors actually clash all that much.  And, it’s hard to go wrong with Painted Harvest elements, don’t you think?  Hope you like! 🙂

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Seasonal Lantern on Plaid!

It’s Monday, y’all.  And that’s all I’m going to say about it! 🙂

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I sure do appreciate it!  If you weren’t able to join, but would like to watch the tutorial, here’s a link to it on YouTube!

This is one that uses what’s become my favorite new Designer Papers – the beautiful plaids in the Christmas Around the World DSP.  And it all works together with the Seasonal Lantern stamp set and bundled Lantern Builder Framelits.  Take a look-see:

The layout was inspired by this week’s Global Design Project sketch challenge.

I matted my pretty Christmas Around the World plaid on Basic Black for the card front.  Then I cut the lantern shape with the die from the Lantern Builder Framelits and the detailed lantern from Gold Glimmer Paper.

The candle is stamped on a piece of Whisper White, in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and filled in with Real Red.  These are both stamps in Seasonal Lantern, as is the “glow” image that I added in Daffodil Delight.  I used my Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker to color the flame.

I adhered a gold Foil Snowflake with Liquid Glue, then wrapped a piece of Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon around the card front, adhering it in the back with scotch tape.  I added the lantern with more Liquid Glue.

Check out the video to see how to make the matted label with Basic Black and Gold Glimmer Paper using the Pretty Label Punch.  I stamped the sentiment from Seasonal Lantern in Versamark on Whisper White, sprinkled it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up.  Then I cut banner ends with my Paper Snips and adhered it over the matted label.

I cut some pine boughs in Garden Green with the Pretty Pines Thinlits and adhered them with Liquid Glue.  The pine cones, from Seasonal Lantern, are stamped in Early Espresso and Soft Suede and cut with their die in the Lantern Builder Framelits.  Once all the embellishments were on, I popped the label and sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I topped it all off with a bow tied from a length of Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine and two lengths of Gold Metallic Thread, adhered with a Glue Dot.

On the inside, I matted a strip of the Christmas Around the World plaid DSP on Basic Black card stock, then added another length of the Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon around the Whisper White panel.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium envelope got a trio of Seasonal Lantern candles in Real Red, Garden Green and Daffodil Delight on the front…

…and more of the pretty Christmas Around the World DSP on the envelope flap.  Plus some more candles!

Et Voila!  Gotta love this plaid paper – and the versatility of the Seasonal Lantern bundle – Christmas – Fall – Hannukah!  Hope you like!

Don’t miss the fact that the Christmas Around the World DSP is included in the Buy-Three-Get-One-Free DSP sale going on now thru the end of the month!  And you’re going to want to take advantage of my Ordering Special and the World Card Making Day celebration, too!  Lots of opportunities to stock up and save!!

Stampin’ Up! Feeling of Christmas Seasonal Lantern

Mornin’, y’all!  I’m writing this on Monday evening from the hotel in Huntsville!  It’s been a long day.  Got up at 4, drove to Huntsville, did an hour and half briefing for the boss, then waited a significant portion of the rest of the day for the IT folks to load a printer driver on my work computer.

Got back to the hotel and took a short nap.  When I booted the computer…it wouldn’t log me in.  Guess how many folks were around at 5:15?

Yea.

Got it resolved – finally – but it took driving back into the office and meeting the on-call IT tech to get it done.  Then had to work for a while to prep for the meeting tomorrow.

So – starting this blog late.  Which means I’m going to shut up now and get after it! 🙂

I used the pretty wreath in the Feeling of Christmas stamp set to make…a Fall-themed card.  Hmmm.  I borrowed a sentiment from the Seasonal Lantern and….take a look-see:

I played along with the fun Tic-Tac-Toe challenge for this one – straight across the diagonal!

It’s hard to tell in the photos, but I did two kinds of embossing on this one.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and dry embossed it in the Petal Burst TIEF, then matted it (DE-bossed side up) on a Cajun Craze panel for the card front.

I wrapped a piece of Crushed Curry 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon vertically around the panel, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

On the middle art panel of Whisper White, I stamped the “fill-in” wreath image from Feeling of Christmas in Crushed Curry.  Then I took the leaves-wreath image and inked it with Versamark and then Cajun Craze ink and stamped that over the top.  I quickly sprinkled the image with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated it up!

I colored the leaves with my Old Olive and Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Markers and the little berries with the Cajun Craze Marker.  Then I added clusters of Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze Enamel Shapes – berries!  I popped the art work over the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

My sentiment, from Seasonal Lantern, is stamped in Crushed Curry on a strip of Whisper White, bannerized with my snips.  I edged the banner with Crushed Curry – flicking it with a sponge  Then I popped it over the wreath with more Dimensionals.

I stamped the image again in Cajun Craze on Whisper White and colored just the ribbon/bow in Crushed Curry and So Saffron, then fussy cut it.  I used a stylus to roll it a bit for some depth, then used teensy pieces of Stampin’ Dimensional to pop it over the stamped bow.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I added some Cajun Craze sprays of leaves in the corners of a Whisper White panel and colored them with my Markers again like I’d done with the wreath.

I Fast Fuse’d the panel to a Cajun Craze mat and into my Crushed Curry card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a reprise of the Feeling of Christmas sprays on the front…

…and then I embossed just the envelope flap in the Petal Burst TIEF.  Kinda hard to see….

Et Voila!  Just cuz the name of the stamp set says “Christmas” doesn’t mean it HAS to be used for that!  Which makes this Feeling of Christmas a really fun – and beautiful! – stamp set!  I actually think it’s one of our prettiest wreaths!!  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix

Quick FFF!

We went over to Scout’s house on Sunday for dinner.  Afterwards, we sat out under the trees and let the two kids play.  And play.

And.

Play.

My friends have chickens.  Scout has a sort of clue about herding them.

Finn believes she’s wrong – he feels herding happens best from the front.

Shhh – let’s not tell him who’s really wrong in this case, okay?

Regardless – he thinks chickens are kind of fun.

And weird looking.

They appear to think the same about him.

Stare off….
