I laid in some extra candy just to make the experience more “real”! 😉
The other day, I got my August Paper Pumpkin in the mail! It’s called World’s Greatest – and it’s full of….great! 😎…goodies to make 9 cards and coordinating envelopes!
Can you tell that one of the designs is a shaker card? Well…trust me on this. It totally is!
And they ALL have foil accents – which is too fun!
Lots of great sentiments for you, too – for the kit projects AND for future cards!
The stamp set – called World’s Greatest is – like ALL Paper Pumpkin stamp sets – exclusive to the kit.
The kit – again like ALL Paper Pumpkin kits! – comes with everything you need to make the projects – as well as the instructions! 🙂
Once everything is together – this is what you’ll have! And – you KNOW how I feel about envelopes! #nonekkidenvelopes 🙂
And – you don’t have to stop there – you could make a few “as directed” cards and then go off on your own. Here’s some ideas for you! How cute is that pencil?!?
You can check out the “official” Stampin’ Up! video for this month’s kit right here!

My Fundraiser to Help Iowa – ends in TWO Days!!
On 10 August, the state of Iowa was hit with a derecho storm. If you have seen any videos of it – it truly looked like a hurricane had hit Iowa. Uhm – because it totally had – winds in the 100+mph range (that’s Cat 2 territory, folks!) With no warning to speak of. To say it was devastating is a bit of an understatement! 🙁
As a result of the storm, at least 43% of the corn and soybeans grown in the state were lost. Which will be seen in the supermarkets where you and I get our food! But beyond all that – many in that state are hurting, have lost their homes, schools and businesses and some are still without power (12+ days after the storm and with daytime temps in the 90’s ). Many farm families lost everything and are left with a huge mess to clean up prior to planting next spring. With so much destruction, they can really use our help!
There’s an organization in Cedar Rapids, IA, called the Iowa Giving Crew, a Cedar Rapids based non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that’s helping to get power restored to those still waiting, is feeding those in need, provides 3 meals a day and is helping with the cleanup. They’ve got a Facebook page that you can see here with photos and details about the help they’re providing.
In an effort to help, I’ve set a goal of donating $500 to the Iowa Giving Crew.
How can you help me help them??
Place a Stampin’ Up! Order Or Donate Directly!
There are two ways you can help me to reach my goal:

Finn Fan Fix
Most evenings – Finn does one of two things.
I ask – are you ready for bed or do you want to go outside?
He responds by either heading down the hall to the bedroom or to the back door to go out.
Okay – a lot of his answer depends on where he’s standing and where he’s “pointed” when I ask it! I think he goes out sometimes with no real need! 😉
On the nights he chooses to go outside – I put his blinky light collar on and tell him to hurry and come right back.
When he comes in he makes a beeline for bed.
Usually – I can snag him in time to take the blinky light collar.
Sometimes…I miss…
You gotta be quick – once he heads to bed….he’s like a HF on a laser! 😉
Hey y’all – happy Friday! Sorry I missed you guys yesterday on YouTube – it was one of those days where I was at the mercy of the medical establishment. And – since all things run on their time-line (and not ours!), canceling our video just seemed like the prudent thing to do!
But…I missed ya! 🙁
For today – I thought I’d give you a peek at the July 2020 Paper Pumpkin kit called…Summer Nights! It’s a lot of fun – it makes luminarias and postcards if you make it according to the instructions in the kit! There’s also an Add-On – with note cards and envelopes to transform the leftovers – or the primary pieces depending on what you want to do! – into regular cards. Check out the kit!
First up – there’s the exclusive Summer Nights stamp set and a Blackberry Bliss Ink Spot…
Then it all opened up to reveal the goodies needed to create nine postcards and coordinating envelopes, as well as nine die-cut tealight bags.
I also bought the add on…
…and made cards and envelopes!
First – here’s the video that shows you how the kit goes together “regular”…
And here are the cards you could make with the kit goodies and the Add-On!
I love these lanterns strung on the twine, don’t you? With the fireworks in the background – it really says easy summer nights!
This next one is one of my faves! Here in Georgia, the lightning bugs have really been in out in force this summer! Like…more than I’ve seen in a long time. They often come right up to our windows and “bug” us! 😉 These cuties on this card – yep. They’re JUST like that!
The last one looks like summer on the boardwalk! And actually makes me think back to two summers ago when we were in Seattle before our cruise. We walked down to the pier and there was the giant ferris wheel! We didn’t ride it, but…it would have been fun. HIGH – but fun!
I’ve got cards and envelopes left-over – so they’ll be awesome bases for more projects! I think they’ll be great for birthday and congrats cards, don’t you? And – did you notice the uber-cute lightning bugs on the inside of the envelope flaps? #nonekkidenvelopes!
So – let’s talk August Paper Pumpkin for a second!
It’s the World’s Greatest kit and it’ll help you celebrate and appreciate life’s champions and everyday heroes.
Lately, it’s become abundantly clear who the everyday heroes are—they’ve been around us – but now we’re REALLY taking note! Teachers, doctors, hairdressers, nurses, delivery workers, cashiers, and even our friends, kids, and family members go above and beyond to enrich our lives. These people are truly the world’s greatest at what they do!
Celebrate and appreciate the everyday heroes in YOUR life with the August Paper Pumpkin Kit. The cards included in this kit are specifically designed for celebrating life’s champions! Check out this quick video to catch a glimpse of World’s Greatest by Paper Pumpkin.

The kit’s stamp set includes Distinktive stamps – these are photo-realistic stamps that create an impressive detailed image with a single stamp. Cool beans, huh?!
And – while this kit will create cards that’ll be great for ANYone to receive, they’re especially perfect for the men in your life! Yeah for masculine cards (we all KNOW how hard it is to create those, don’t we!!?).
Be aware – if you want get THIS kit, you MUST be signed up for Paper Pumpkin by 10 Aug. Sign up on 11 Aug….and you’ll get the SEPTEMBER kit. Which is probably awesome – but…it’s not THIS one!

Hey y’all! Happy Tuesday! Hope you’re having a great week. Had a good day yesterday for my birthday. We had Popeyes for lunch – did a little shopping – and got our first of the two-shot Shingles vaccine – yes, WE know how to celebrate a birthday, for sure!! LOL!!
I really want to thank all of you for the wonderful birthday wishes I got all day – in the mailbox – in the InBox – on Facebook. I appreciate each and every one of you very much!! I’ve hijacked Finn’s spot today and tomorrow – cuz the cards I’ve received are wonderful and I want to share them with y’all! 🙂
My bright yellow Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin Kit arrived the other day and I thought I’d put it together lickety split – cuz…it really looked like a great kit!
As soon as I opened the box – I knew I was right – it IS a great kit!
I found the sweet exclusive Box of Sunshine stamp set and a Basic Black Ink Spot…
…and all the pieces and parts to make eight cards – decorate the box for sending/gifting – AND leave me with plenty of leftover elements to use to create more cards!
The eight cards went together really quickly – some stamping – a little sticker-sticking and some dimensionalizing and…
How sweet are those cards?
And – in the spirit of no-nekkid-envelopes….SU! pre-printed them for us with pretty gold-foil accents!
So pretty and fun!
I decorated my box – and will pick one of the four card-designs to include when I mail it out!
Box of Sunshine, indeed!
So – in case you’re wondering – here’s Sara with a quick video on how it all goes together!
Cool, right?
Well – I’ll tell you what – the July Paper Pumpkin looks to be very cool, too! Check it out!
Celebrate the magic of summer nights with the Summer Nights Paper Pumpkin Kit! In this exclusive fun-filled kit, you’ll unbox enough supplies to create nine postcard-style cards, coordinating envelopes, and die-cut tealight bags. What’s even more spectacular about July’s kit is the ADD-ON you can purchase along with it!
The Summer Nights Add-On includes 24 card bases and envelopes in coordinating Summer Nights designs. This add-on is perfect for helping you expand the Summer Nights creative experience beyond the Paper Pumpkin kit. Finn Fan Fix
Finn agreed to let me use “his” space for a couple of days so you could take a look at the cards I got from teammates, customers and fellow demonstrators – all of whom are ALSO my friends! I am lucky, indeed! 🙂
These two fun-fold beauts are from Rosie Kean – one of my Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew (CNCK) Team!
My Upline (aka – the reason I’m in SU! at all!!) Amy Koenders – sent this gorgeous Birds & More card!
Faith Simpson – a customer and also a fellow Demonstrator – created this wonderful Grace’s Garden card!
This sweet card came from a friend I met on my last business trip before I retired – Beth Kist invited me to dinner and some card making! 🙂
Karen Finkle – a long-time CNCK-er, sent this pretty card!
Another CNCK team member, Shirley Gentry, who lives in GA, sent this poppy-strewn beauty.
Final card for today – my friend Karen Ksenzakovic – my Amy’s Inkin’ Krew teammate, sent a little tropical garden my way!
Come back tomorrow to see the rest of the cards I’ve gotten this past week! Every day has brought some more happy mail! Whoo-hoo!!
My post today is two fold – to let you know about a fun event taking place TOMORROW – that YOU can take part in! And, for the second fold, to share a quick look at the seriously-cute May 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit called A Kit In Color (you’ll see why in a just a second).
First – tomorrow, 21 May 2020, is the Stampin’ Up! Day of Service and Sara Douglass, CEO of Stampin’ Up!, will be going live on her Facebook page at 2:00 PM MT to create 20 cards with the COVID-19 Give Back PDF and she’s inviting everyone to join her!
Here’s Sara to tell you all about it in her Facebook Live Video!
If you want to join in during the live event – here’s what you’ll need handy to make the cards with Sara:
Card bases Designer Series Paper – any will do! Scissors or a Paper Trimmer. Adhesive Embellishments Printed copy of the Share Sunshine PDF Download (which can be purchased here for $12 US – it’s digital so you’ll have it right away!)
So that you can prep your Designer Series Paper before the event starts – here’s a PDF of the instruction/cut sheet!
If you’re unable to participate in the live craft party, the replay will be available to view any time on Sara’s Facebook page!!
Okay – fold one done! 🙂 Hope you get a chance to “hang” with Sara – she’s a lot of fun and it’s all going to a great cause!
Fold Two! Paper Pumpkin!
My May Kit arrived yesterday and I opened it up right away. I’d heard good things about it and was anious to put the cards together!
I found a cute stamp set – and a Misty Moonlight Ink Spot!! Whoo-hoo!!!
Plus a bunch of die cut designs, banners, CLOUDS!, twine, vellum pieces and ADORABLE puffy flowers in the new 2020-2022 In Colors (plus Purple Posy!) – with card bases and envelopes to make 8 full size cards and 4 notecards!
I got busy right quick and, about an hour later (okay – twelve twine bows sort of slowed me down. Don’t judge!) – I had them all done!
How. Pretty. Are. Those!?
This set REALLY showcases the new In Colors and lets you see how well they work together!
The first full-sized card is based on Just Jade with the pretty rainbow “postage stamp” die cut on the front! And – do you see the flowers?? They’re sort of “puffy” and I love them!
The second full-size card has super fun clouds on a rainbow base! And my favorite sentiment in the whole kit!
Finally, there are four notecards, with a Purple Posy base. This one is really fun – and I kept hearing Mike Myers in my head saying “Groooovy, baby”!!! 😉
I didn’t do anything to the insides yet – I’m keeping them blank so that I can add a sentiment as I need one. Happy Birthday. Congratulations. Welcome to the Team! These are great cards – ready for any occasion!!
Here’s a quick how-to-put-it-together video! JIC my highly detailed instructions didn’t help. 😉
This is a great kit – and…the June kit – created with lots of input from Sara herself – looks to be equally awesome!
This exclusive Sara-inspired Paper Pumpkin kit is here to help you #sharesunshine. It includes supplies for eight handmade cards and is specially designed to help you create a box full of cheer. Once you’ve made all the cards, use any leftover pieces to decorate the box. Fill it with yellow goodies, add the included adhesive label, address it to someone special, and brighten their life with a little sunshine!
Here’s Sara again to tell you more…
And here’s the deets!
Box of Sunshine
Kit contains supplies for 8 cards and envelopes (2 cards of 4 designs)
Box of Sunshine Information: This kit includes extra pieces and stickers (including a sticker label) to help you create cards AND a Box of Sunshine filled with treats and goodies to send to a friend. (Treats not included! Darn it!)
Now – like the May kit, I have a sneaking suspicion that this one could sell out in a hurry! So…if you’re already a Paper Pumpkin subscriber – don’t suspend or skip for this month! If not, but you’d like to sign up, there are two ways!
You can sign up for a subscription where you’re billed monthly for your kit – click hereto get started.

Mostly.
Or chew things to bits.
Mostly.
Or…steal things.

Finn Fan Fix
On my video on Saturday night, I mentioned that I’d made a big batch of homemade granola, using a yumm-o sounding recipe my mom sent.
It’s called Lumberjack Granola – I’ll give you the recipe as written and then my substitutes/changes. 🙂
Ingredients
8 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup hulled sunflower seeds
1 cup hulled pumpkin seeds
2 cups walnuts
1 cup maple syrup
1 cup golden raisins
2 cups almonds
1 cup canola or olive oil
1 cup dried cranberries
2 cups pecans
1 Tablespoon coarse sea salt
1 cup shredded coconut
Preparation
Preheat oven to 325 degrees
In a large stainless-steel bowl, combine the oats, sunflower and pumpkin seeds walnuts, almonds and pecans. Stir with a large wooden spoon (or clean hands) to combine.
Transfer about 4 cups of the mixture to a food processor fitted with the steel blade and pulse to coarsely chop, but do not make the pieces too small. (This is just to slightly reduce the size of chunks to bit-size and you can skip this step if you prefer really chunky granola.) Transfer the chopped oat mixture to a second large stainless-steel bowl. Repeats until you have coarsely chopped the whole batch – again, not too fine.
Toss the oat mixture with the salt. Pour the maple syrup and the oil over the top and stir with a wooden spoon or clean hands to completely combine the liquids with the oat mixture. It will look just slightly moist.
Spread the granola evenly over the two shallow roasting pans or rimmed baking sheets in a single layer, about 1″ deep. You may need to do this in two batches. Bake, stirring every 15 min or so to keep the granola from burning and turning the pans to bake evenly. Toast to a golden brown, about 45 minutes. Remove from the pan and transfer back to one of the large bowls.
Toss will still warm with the raisins, cranberries and coconut. Let cool before packing into large mason jars to keep up to 2 months.
My changes
I didn’t use the dried cranberries – they’re not our fave so…substituted dried dates. About 10 ounces worth.
Used canola oil – and only about 1/2 cup.
Didn’t use walnuts – really don’t care for them. So used extra pecans. I couldn’t really tell you how many pecans I used. At least 2 cups – plus…however many looked about right.
Used slivered almonds cuz that’s what I had in the freezer.
Didn’t use sunflower seeds. No reason why – just didn’t have them and didn’t buy any more.
My pumpkin seeds were roasted and salted. Worked great.
Do NOT skip the COARSE Sea Salt. I had fine sea salt on hand, but bought some coarse for this. That little tiny crunch of salt is perfect!!
Try to use real maple syrup. Try not to lick the syrup off the bottle. Or…be sure no one is watching if you do!
Get ready to love this granola. And – if you’re of a mind – it would be awesome in trail mix form – add m&m’s or chocolate chips when the mix is….almost completely cool. We didn’t do that. Wanted to – but…we’re using as cereal, so…
We can add the chips into our cereal bowl on the down-low!
Hey y’all – my March No Matter The Weather Paper Pumpkin kit got here the other day and I’d been hearing from folks that it’s an awesome kit! So…I got into it yesterday!
As promised, this kit has an additional stamp set and the images coordinate perfectly with the “main” No Matter The Weather Paper Pumpkin stamp set! It didn’t take me very long at all to have 12 cards (with envelopes) all ready to spread a little spring cheer and encouragement!
I love that you get TWO stamp sets – and they coordinate perfectly!
The No Matter The Weather set is the one I used mostly to make the kit per the instructions…
And the FREE extra set I used to create insides and envelope fronts (the envelopes came lined!)
So…I put the kit together exactly as directed (I’m a rule follower, what can I say!??).
In addition to the Basic Gray Ink Spot and stamp sets, there’s all the die cut images and sentiment banners/circles you’ll need. Plus some super cute acrylic “raindrops” to add to the card fronts!
For each card, I completed the front – then did some stamping on the inside and envelope front.
This first design has a cloudy sky with bright rain boots stuffed with Spring flowers. Those are die cuts from the kit. Then on the inside, I stamped the flower basket in Basic Gray and added Grapefruit Grove flowers.
The envelope is lined with Shaded Spruce and I added more flowers on the front!
The second design features a line of fun rain boots – all popped up with dimensionals and embellished with wrapped Baker’s Twine in white-and-green! I added some rain boots from the extra set – the outline image in Basic Gray and the flower-dy-fill in So Saffron. So they weren’t just “floating” in mid-air, I added the “ground” image from the Whatever The Weather set in Basic Gray.
I repeated the boots on the front of the Petal Pink-lined envelope, too.
The final design features more rain boots stuffed with flowers – these are die cuts, popped up with Dimensionals – and an adorable bunny! For the inside, in Pear Pizzazz, I added grasses (this might be my favorite grass image EVER!) and then a Basic Gray bunny. These are both from the free extra set! The little hearts – stamped in Petal Pink – are from the No Matter The Weather set.
I added more grass, bunny and hearts on the front of the So-Saffron lined envelope to complete the set.
If you enjoy a quick video how-to, then here’s one that’s just right!
If you’ve got this set – go ahead and put it together. And – if you want a refill of these cute cards and die cuts…here it is in the Online Store!
Next month’s kit is looking to be equally cool!
My Wonderful Family – is all about building and nurturing relationships through papercrafting. For April, we created a fun, family appreciation themed card kit that will make it easy for you to share your heart with those you love the most: mom, dad, daughter, son, sister, and brother. April’s kit even includes Mother’s Day and Father’s Day sentiments, giving you the perfect way to show your appreciation for beloved parents on their special days with a beautiful, handmade card.
The Paper Pumpkin team knows that everyone’s clan is unique. With that in mind, we’re providing sentiments that would include anyone in your life who feels like family; for instance, “brothers” and “sisters” who have helped you along the journey of life.
And – really? Isn’t that connection – from afar! – especially important right now with all the craziness going on in our world? This kit is timely in so many ways, don’t you think?
Here’s the deets:

Finn Fan Fix
All of Finn’s hard work in the garden is starting to pay off!
We planted this past weekend – braving drifts of pine pollen in the pursuit of….peppers!!
In years past, I’ve bought tomatoes and my most-wunnermus Ancho Magnifico Chiles as plants. And while they worked great – they were SPENDY! The plants themselves weren’t too bad – but SHIPPING live plants….Yikes!!
So…this year, I bought seeds and the equipment I needed to start them indoors and parlayed this…
into…
and then….
Okay – I bought those lettuce (buttercrunch) starts at the hardware last week. Instant gratification, yes. But those tomatoes and marigolds (mighty pest fighters!!) and TWELVE CHILE PEPPER plants!! – are all seed started in the kitchen!
We also planted spinach, turnips, mustard, and collard seeds…
And we’re building two more raised beds for the tomatillos, pole beans, yellow squash and spaghetti squash. I hope I can make the squash work – I’ve had problems with it in the past. Maybe THIS is the year!!
I’m sure with the help of my green-pawed-pooch, we can’t go wrong!
Happy Happy Hawwwwmp Day!! 🙂 Hope your day is starting off well and your week has been good!
I thought you might like a little look-see at this February Lovely Day Paper Pumpkin Kit!

Three designs….two featuring beautiful flowers (see the foil accents??)
I like this design the best of all of them, with its watercolor feel and pretty scalloped edges!
…and the third will also work perfectly for the dudes in your life! Thank you, Paper Pumpkin and Stampin’ Up! 🙂
Maybe you like to go “off-book”? Here’s a couple of alternate projects using the elements in the kit that SU! shared with us!

Finn Fan Fix
This is a non-Finny Finn Fan Fix!
This is a seedling update!
So…I planted two BioDomes last week – veggies and flowers.
I placed the two BioDomes under the grow light.
16 hours on. 8 hours off.
And then – carefully peeeeered into the domes every day.
Every day….nothing.
Not surprising – a watched seed never grows.
Or…something like that! LOL
But then. THEN! Yesterday…..lookee lookee!!
See ’em?!? Plants! Little plants sticking their little plant-heads up!
According to my careful planting chart – those are marigolds. Which I’m growing to plant in and among my Ancho Magnifico Peppers and my tomatoes.
