Stampin’ Up! Boho Indigo Birthday Locking Gate Card with Video Tutorial!

Happy Friday, y’all!  I hope your week went well – our did.  And it went fast.  Like…Warp Factor Four, Mr. Sulu-fast.  What the heck??!  I mean – seriously, just last week I was 28 – and then…I was 29 in the blink of an eye.  At this rate I’ll be 60 before this time next year!

See…THAT’S funny cuz I actually WILL be 60 this time next year – with or without Warp-Speed-Time-Passing! 😉

This is a gate card – without a bellyband.  Instead, it’s got a unique “locking mechanism” that holds the card closed.

As you can see – I did two versions.  The one on the right uses pieces that were leftover from putting my June Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin together – cool, huh?

That one was inspired by the sketch challenge over at Tuesday Morning Sketches.

I first saw this fun-fold when I got a birthday card from my friend Elisha Smith – then I took a peek at Amanda Chatsworth’s video.  And then – I modified it all a little bit to work as an A2 sized card and fit a Medium Envelope.

I started by creating a regular gate card – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored and folded at 2 1/8″ from each short end.  I used Basic Black for the lemons card and Misty Moonlight for the Boho Indigo card.

I adhered Artistry Blooms DSP or Boho Indigo DSP to their mats – Daffodil Delight or Very Vanilla – with Liquid Glue and then used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the “gates”.

The locking mechanism – which also functions as the card front – is created with four pieces of the mat-colored card stock – all the same size (2 5/8″ x 4 3/8″).  On two of the panels – I scored and folded them at 1 5/16″ on the short side.

I used Liquid Glue to “sandwich” the two folded panels between the other two panel to create an “X”.  Best way is to check the video – fast forward to about the 13 minute mark! 🙂

Once the “mechanism” was complete – it was just a matter of decorating!

The lemon card uses a black/dotted sticker and some die cuts from the Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin kit  I tied a little bow from the black/white twine in the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack and adhered it with a Glue Dot.  The sentiment on that one is from the Fancy Phrases set – stamped in Rich Razzleberry on Whisper White.  It’s adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added some of the adhesive-backed sequins from the kit as well!

On the Boho Indigo card, I adhered another piece of the Boho Indigo DSP to the mat.  Then I stamped the sentiment – also from the medley – on one of the pretty vanilla/gold die cut tags (from the medley – there is a LOT in this medley, y’all!).  I looped a piece of Night of Navy 1/2″ Frayed Grosgrain Ribbon thru the top and tied it with a length of gold twine from the Forever Greenery Ribbon Combo Pack.

I used some of the pretty leaves die cuts from the medley, adhering them to the card front with Liquid Glue – then popped the sentiment on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added some foil flowers AND some of the sweet little Paper Flowers with Liquid Glue.  Finally – I added some Gold Glitter Enamel Dots cuz it seemed like the right thing to do! 🙂

On the inside – I added a sentiment from Fancy Phrases in Rich Razzleberry to a Whisper White panel.  I adhered another leaf and a lemon with Liquid Glue and trimmed the excess with Paper Snips.  Then I adhered it into the Lemon card.

For the inside of the Boho Indigo card, I just stamped a Very Vanilla panel with the leaves image from the medley stamp set in Garden Green – stamping a couple of times without re-inking.  I matted it on Very Vanilla.

For the Whisper White Medium Envelope for my Lemon card got a sweet little flower from Fancy Phrases in Tuxedo Black and colored it with my Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green Watercolor Pencils.  I added Artistry Blooms DSP to the envelope flap.

On the front of the Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I added more leaves from Boho Indigo in Garden Green – and then added the DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is a pretty easy fold – the mechanism is the only “hard” part – and it’s not very hard, either, once you see how it’s done!  If you’ve got the June Box of Sunshine kit – I hope this will give you some ideas about more fun projects to make with those extra pieces.  And – you NEED to get the Boho Indigo Product Medley if you don’t have it already.  It is simply amazing!!

Finn Fan Fix


The other day, I couldn’t find Finn.

Which was weird, cuz I knew he’d come in with me.

I’d taken his collar off.

I remembered it clearly.

But…he was disappeared.

I looked all over – even started to wonder about alien abductions.  Wormholes opening in the living room.

I gave Katy the side-eye…what did you do to your brother?

And then – I found him.

To be clear – I walked by him twice looking for him (it’s actually dark in there – this is a flash shot).  That’s a tiny little hallway to our third bedroom.  From the kitchen looking towards the back of the house – he was completely invisible.

He truly couldn’t have shoe-horned himself any deeper into that tiny little cranny!

Stampin’ Up! Posted For You Birthday for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a cool sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

When I saw our sketch, I right away thought of the new Posted for You bundle with the stamp set and coordinating Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.  So…that’s what I used – and I paired it with some beautiful Artistry Blooms DSP.  Take a look-see:

I’m also playing along with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

I started with a piece of Basic Black card stock that I ran thru my die cutting/embossing machine twice in the new Meadow Moments Embossing Folder.  I ran it thru once and then flipped the card stock around to emboss the other side.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to the front of my Basic Black card base.

I cut a piece of Artistry Blooms DSP and embossed it in the second folder from the Meadow Moments Embossing Folders – the one with the butterflies…

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the embossed panel onto a Daffodil Delight mat and then onto the card front.

On a piece of Whisper White, I used my Stamparatus to stamp two of the images in the Posted For You stamp set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  When the ink was dry, I cut each of the images with the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.

Using my Granny Apple Green, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencils, I colored the images.

Then I popped them all onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals

I stamped the Posted For You sentiment in Calypso Coral on Whisper White and cut it with the small Stitched Rectangle Die.

Using Glue Dots – I adhered a short length of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Ruched Ribbon – then I adhered the sentiment over top with Liquid Glue.

A few Gold Glitter Enamel Dots here and there finished off the card front.

On the inside, I stamped a second Posted For You sentiment in Calypso Coral on Whisper White.  Over the sentiment, in stamped-off-once Granny Apple Green, I added the post-mark image.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Daffodil Delight mat and into the card base, and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the post-mark image in Granny Apple Green on the front…

…and more of the Artistry Blooms DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is such a sweet and simple stamp set – the images and sentiments are lovely.  And – I really love the bundled Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch (yes – I know – I love ALL punches – but THIS one is sort of perfect!!).

Stampin’ Up! Happiest of Birthdays to You Dandelion

And – know what else today is?

Now – with that plug out of the way, I have a card today that’s been on my gotta-make-it list since I saw the sample on page 103 in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!  I love the new Dandelion 3D Embossing Folder – and…this card, paired with the new Happiest of Birthdays stamp set – is a beaut!  Take a look-see:

I loved the sample so much that I really wanted to make it for you without much change – all I did was tweak it a bit for the Hand Stamped Sentiments color challenge.

I started with a piece of Vellum card stock that I embossed in the new Dandelion 3D Embossing Folder.

I turned the panel over and used my Bermuda Bay Watercolor Pencil to color just the leaves and stems.

I used Glue Dots under the embossed parts of the vellum to adhere it to a Pool Party panel.  Then I adhered the whole thing to a Pool Party mat with Stampin’ Seal.

Using my Light Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blend, I colored a length of Pool Party 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon.  When it was dry, I wrapped the ribbon twice around the panel, securing it in the back with Glue Dots.  Then I wrapped a length of Linen Thread around and tied a little bow.

I stamped a sentiment from Happiest of Birthdays in Mint Macaron on Whisper White then cut it with a Stitched Rectangle Die.  I cut it and then I re-positioned the die and ran it thru the die cutting machine a second time to make the sentiment shorter.

Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I popped the sentiment over the ribbon on the card front.

I used my Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blend to color some of the new Butterfly Gems (I colored the Seaside Spray gems) and adhered them to the card front – and the card was done!

On the inside, I used my Stamparatus to stamp a second Happiest of Birthdays sentiment in Mint Macaron onto a Whisper White panel.  I added a few more of the colored Butterfly Gems.

I used Stampin’ Seal to adhere the panel to a Pool Party mat and into my Bermuda Bay card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some Bermuda Bay butterflies from the Butterfly Wishes stamp set on the front…

…and a little Mint Macaron Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  What a big and beautiful sentiment stamp set this Happiest of Birthdays set is!

And – I love dandelion images of all sorts – and a Dandelion 3D Embossing Folder? Oh yes!!  My goodness!!

Elisha Smith, a fellow SU! demonstrator from Neil Armstrong’s birthplace in Ohio, sent a lovely fun-fold!  The middle piece slides up and off to reveal the gate fold!

A lovely friend, Susan Heine, who, along with a group of talented ladies, uses my retired papers, ribbons and embellishments in their quilt and card ministry for veterans – sent these two sweet cards!

My CNCK team member, Terry Lynn Bright, made a fun birthday card with the So Much Happy Bundle and Playing with Patterns DSP.

And, another of my lovely CNCK team members, Susan Kuenzel, sent this fun card!

Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin Box of Sunshine Reveal

Hey y’all!  Happy Tuesday!  Hope you’re having a great week. Had a good day yesterday for my birthday.  We had Popeyes for lunch – did a little shopping – and got our first of the two-shot Shingles vaccine – yes, WE know how to celebrate a birthday, for sure!! LOL!!

I really want to thank all of you for the wonderful birthday wishes I got all day – in the mailbox – in the InBox – on Facebook.  I appreciate each and every one of you very much!!  I’ve hijacked Finn’s spot today and tomorrow – cuz the cards I’ve received are wonderful and I want to share them with y’all! 🙂

My bright yellow Box of Sunshine Paper Pumpkin Kit arrived the other day and I thought I’d put it together lickety split – cuz…it really looked like a great kit!

As soon as I opened the box – I knew I was right – it IS a great kit!

I found the sweet exclusive Box of Sunshine stamp set and a Basic Black Ink Spot…

…and all the pieces and parts to make eight cards – decorate the box for sending/gifting – AND leave me with plenty of leftover elements to use to create more cards!

The eight cards went together really quickly – some stamping – a little sticker-sticking and some dimensionalizing and…

Stampin’ Up! Tasteful Boho Indigo Birthday Card

Good morning, y’all!  Before we get going – I want to thank all the folks who’ve sent Birthday cards these last few days!  My – what a great group of happy mail!  I am very blessed to have so many folks who care enough about me to send their beautiful creations!  I’ll be sharing them with y’all this week!!

Now – for my card – I pulled out the amazeballs new Boho Indigo Product Medley and paired it with a Tasteful Labels die.   Take a look-see:

The layout for this one hails from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

And the color scheme is based on the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge.

I started with one of the gorgeous Night of Navy patterns that are part of the Boho Indigo Product Medley and matted it on Real Red for the card front.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the sentiment – from the included Boho Indigo stamp set – in Real Red.  Then I cut it with a Tasteful Labels die.

I used a few Glue Dots to adhere a Gold Hoop Embellishment to the card front.  Then I popped the sentiment label over top with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On more Whisper White, I stamped the triple-flower image from the Boho Indigo set in So Saffron and cut them out with the matching dies in the Boho Indigo Die Set.

I adhered the flowers with Dimensionals and Liquid Glue.

Finally, I adhered some of the uber-sweet little Paper Flowers – yep, also in the Boho Indigo Product Medley! – to the die-cut flowers – and the card front was done!

On the inside, I adhered a Real Red-matted strip of the Boho Indigo DSP to a Whisper White panel.  I stamped some So Saffron flowers onto the panel as well.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Real Red mat and into my So Saffron card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Boho Indigo flowers in So Saffron on the front…

…and more of the Boho Indigo DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Wow – that’s what I have to say about the Boho Indigo Product Medley, y’all!  It is just gorgeous!!  And it is chock-a-block full of beautiful Designer Paper, the exclusive stamp set and matching dies, sweet paper flowers, label die cuts, two ribbons and some lovely embossed cardstock panels!

Just add some “staples” and you’re ready to create!!  I hope you love it as much as I do! 🙂

That cat jumped up on the arm of the chair, where the Dad had left a paper towel and his phone.

When the cat jumped up there – the phone AND the paper towel fell to the floor.

Finn – helpful as always – retrieved the paper towel to bring to the mom for disposal.

Why?  What did YOU think had happened??

Stampin’ Up! Pattern Play-ful Alphabet with Video Tutorial for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s Joanne’s Clean-And-Simple challenge this week and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo!  I hope you’ll come and play along.  🙂

This week, I SAW and acknowledged the “clean-and-simple” part of the challenge – and decided this was a great chance to use a new bundle – the Pattern Play stamp set with the awesome Playful Alphabet dies.  I added a little In Good Taste DSP to the mix and…well…take a look-see:

Okay – if this isn’t clean-and-simple, then…I guess I need some learnin’!! 😉

And here’s this week’s Paper Players Theme challenge!  Hope you’ll join the fun and show us your projects!  I can’t wait to see what you create!

 

My layout was inspired by this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.

…and the colors worked well with the Sunday Stamps challenge, too!

I started by cutting my letters for the word “thanks”, using the new Playful Alphabet dies.  Y’all – you know how sometimes letter dies are TOOO big?  And sometimes they’re TOOO small and fussy!??  Well – THESE are JUUUUSSST right!  In fact – they’re perfect!

I cut them twice each – once from some wood-design paper in the In Good Taste DSP pack and again in Real Red cardstock.   NOTE: in the video card, I first adhered the Real Red card stock to a piece of the new Foam Adhesive Sheets and then went from there. Y’all – they are COOL!!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the wood letters to the Real Red ones, offsetting them just a smidge to create a shadow.

Then I laid them out on my Whisper White panel to get the location correct.

I inked the solid hearts image from the Pattern Play set in Real Red and stamped it above my dry-fit sentiment.

Then I embossed the panel in the Pinewood Planks 3D Embossing Folder.  You want to emboss AFTER you stamp.

Or…you can emboss and THEN stamp – but you’ll want to use your Stamparatus so that you can stamp it a couple of times…

Trust me on this, okay? 😉

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Balmy Blue mat.

Then, using Liquid Glue – I adhered the letters.  Note: the Foam Adhesive Sheets have their own adhesive, so…no Glue needed!

Finally, I wrapped some twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack around the panel a couple of times – securing it in the back with Glue Dots.  I wrapped a short length around the two wraps and tied a little bow – and the card front was done!

Clean. And. Simple.

Told ya. 😉

On the inside, I inked the diagonal hashmark image in Balmy Blue and added it across the bottom of a Whisper White panel (it’s photoploymer – so easy to line up just right!).  Then I added some Real Red hearts.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Balmy Blue mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals – and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Balmy Blue hash marks and Real Red hearts across the front…

…and more of the In Good Taste DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Y’all – I LOVE this new Playful Alphabet stamp set!  The dies are perfectly sized to do ANYthing you want – and the set includes numbers and punctuation, too!   Use it alone – or combine it with the sentiments and texture/design images in the bundled Pattern Play stamp set.

Stampin’ Up! Pattern Play Alphabet Video Tutorial Sneak Peek

Morning, y’all!  Happy Saturday!  Weekends are the best – especially now that so many of you are heading back to work.  For a minute, the weekend – the weekday – mox nix!

Can I make a plug for wearing your mask and keeping your distance?  Please, folks.  This is still a “thing” – we can’t act like it isn’t.

Okay – that’s it.  Lecture complete. 😉

Now – tonight – we’ll be perfectly safe and socially distanced – no mask needed!  I’ll be live on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page at 7pm eastern time and we’re going to play with a little of my new-goodies-stash.  Yes – it came and…I got everything organized and labeled and just waiting to play.  So…play I did – and we’re going to make a clean-and-simple card (yes – I am making a CAS card.  Don’t doubt it!).  As part of the new Playing with Patterns Suite,  we’ve got an awesome alphabet die set – called Playful Alphabet – and It.  Is.  Cool!  So…take a sneaky peek!

On Finn’s birthday, he got a present.

Of course.

Did you doubt it at all??

HE doesn’t care if it looks a LOT like a CHRISTMAS elf…

He spent a little time flipping it around and chewing it and shaking it real good.

Got to break these toys in quick, you know. 🙂

But – as so many of us do to mark the end of another trip around the sun, he spent a little time in quiet contemplation of his life.

Where is he going from here?   What are his life goals?  He’s a relatively young man, yet.

Stampin’ Up! Forever Lovely You for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a color challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Our colors today aimed me at one of my favorite new papers in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog – the Forever Greenery DSP.  I played with the fun Scrappy Strips technique and combined it with some Forever Flourishing Die cuts and sentiments from the Lovely You stamp set.  Take a look-see:

The layout is based on the sketch at this week’s CAS(E) This Sketch challenge.

I started with a piece of Pretty Peacock to build the scrappy strips card front.  Using a bunch of strips of Forever Greenery DSP in Just Jade – of varying widths between 3/8″ and 5/8″, I adhered the strips to the Pretty Peacock panel with Liquid Glue.

I used my Paper Trimmer to cut the excess off.

I popped this card front over a Pretty Peacock mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using the Forever Flourishing Dies, I cut the large leaf from Pear Pizzazz, two smaller round-leaf boughs from Pretty Peacock and a final leaf bough from Just Jade card stocks.

I used a couple of Glue Dots to adhere a new Gold Hoop to the card front, then popped the Pear Pizzazz leaf over top with a few Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added the other leaves with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the Lovely You sentiment in Pretty Peacock.  Over it, in stamped-off-once Pear Pizzazz, I stamped the leaf from Lovely You twice without re-inking. Then I cut the label with a die from the Tasteful Labels die set.

I doubled a length of Just Jade 3/8″ Gingham Ribbon from the Flowers For Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack and tied a piece of Gold trim from the Forever Greenery Trim Combo around it.  I adhered the tied bow to the card front with a Glue Dot.

I popped the sentiment over the bow with Stampin’ Dimensionals, added a Just Jade 2020-2022 In Color Enamel Dot and the card front was done!

On the inside, I added a second Lovely You sentiment in Pretty Peacock to a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I added a few leaves in stamped-off-once Pear Pizzazz (stamping it twice without re-inking) and a couple in Just Jade.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Pretty Peacock mat and into my Pear Pizzazz card base, adhered the card front with Liquid Glue and the card front was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Lovely You leaves on the front…

…and more of the Forever Greenery DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Lovely You is a sweet, sentiment-heavy stamp set, with beautiful fonts and some floral images to boot!

The Forever Flourishing Die set has wunnermus leaves that coordinate perfectly with the Forever Greenery DSP!

Et Voila!  I hope you like – and…have!! If not – you should get! 😉

Stampin’ Up! A Simple Hello From Forever Fern!

‘Sup, y’all!??  Hope your week is going well and that you’re staying safe.

And masked.  And socially distanced!  We’re seeing spikes in cases, people – time to hunker back down if you’ve de-hunkered!

Just sayin’!

At our awesome Zoom team meeting this past weekend, three of us prepped and led the group in creating a card with the wonderful new Forever Fern bundle.  I’ll share Amy and Sue’s cards later this week – mine was (uncharacteristically!) simple – letting some Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper add just the right amount of bling!  Take a look-see!

See what I mean?

While I stamped and talked the team thru the card – I could see all their pretty faces looking back at me!

It was so cool to be “together” to stamp and craft and laugh!  Yeah ZOOM!!!

This one started with some of the pretty Forever Greenery DSP matted on Soft Sea Foam for the card front.

We embossed a Shaded Spruce panel in the Greenery Embossing Folder, matted it on Soft Sea Foam and adhered it to the card front with Stampin’ Seal.

Then, the pretty floral Forever Gold Laser-Cut Specialty Paper die cut was adhered with Liquid Glue.

On a seperate piece of Soft Sea Foam, I stamped the sentiment from Forever Fern in Shaded Spruce ink.

I stamped a couple of small leaf images in Soft Sea Foam and a few of the splatter image in stamped-off-once Shaded Spruce.  Then I cut the sentiment with the next-to-smallest circle Stitched Shapes Die.

I popped the sentiment onto the gold die cut with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added some of the white Elegant Faceted Gems and the card front was done!

Told you it was quick and easy! 😉

On the inside, I added some larger Forever Fern leaves in Shaded Spruce, smaller leaves in Soft Sea Foam, and some splatters in stamped-off-once Shaded Spruce.  Then I added more Elegant Faceted Gems!

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Soft Sea Foam mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more of the Forever Fern leaves and splatters on the front…

…and a little more Forever Greenery DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Wow – I do SO love this Forever Fern bundle with the Forever Flourishing dies that cut out stand-alone leaves as well as stamped leaf images – WHAT A SET!!…

And the two papers in the suite are gorgeous!

Et Voila!  I hope you like and have this set on your list!  I’ll be bringing you a couple more cards using it as the week goes by – if you don’t want it now…you WILL! 🙂

Finn Fan Fix


Yesterday was Finn’s six-month Wellness check.

At about….8 months!  Between the vet and I, we’d pushed it right a couple of times.

Thank you, COVID.

But – this is the “off” check – just checking general health and well-being (and the dreaded scale!) – no shots or blood work.  And, since he’s a pretty healthy dude – it seemed like the right thing to do!

As always – he was very very happy to go and see his friends at the clinic.  And they really love him there.

And, y’all – he is SO stinkin’ good!  The new protocol is that owners can go into the exam room as long as they’re wearing a mask, but the tech takes the patient to the back for the exam.

Finn went with her with not so much as a backwards glance.

I got this, Mom!

Then he comes back in with this giant grin and wiggler wagging.

And plops down next to me to see what’s going to happen next.

He likes their cool floor, I think!

But – he’s always interested as soon as the little knock at the door comes…

Come on in, Dr. Chris!  We’re ready for you! 🙂

You’ll be glad to know that, except for what appears to be some developing arthritis in his left hand, he’s hale, hearty and healthy!
