Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms & Floral Boutique Make a Fun Fold Card

Well – it’s happened again.  Monday!  I hope that you all had a great weekend and are ready and refreshed for the week to come.  If not – take heart, there’s only 4 days left.  This one doesn’t count.  It’s already started – you’re up – hopefully you’ve had your coffee – you may even already be at work.  So…it’s practically over!

Before I get to my card – which is one we made yesterday at Amy’s quarterly meeting – I thought you guys might like to see our latest new addition to the menagerie.  You might remember that we were adopted by a goose.  His name is Duck Duck.  Goose.  Yesterday, when we were taking him his evening crack (-ed corn) and the trimmed ends of a mess of green beans, I took his picture.  A few, actually.  He’s gotten pretty bold – he motors right up to the bank of the pond while we’re still there.  Here he is.

He’s quite handsome, yes?  And a little mouthy.  He’s got some definite ideas about dinner time and he’s not at all adverse to sharing them.  That second picture – looks pretty imperious, doesn’t he?

So.  The card.  This one was shared by Sue Prather.  She’s awfully talented – and this card shows it!  It’s a fun fold card, using the new Floral Boutique DSP and a pretty sentiment from the Birthday Blooms stamp set.  Take a look-see:

To make this card, we started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Pink Pirouette card stock, that’s scored and folded at 2 1/4″ and 6 1/2″ on the long side.  We used a retired punch for the circle, but I’m going to tell you how to do it with the oh-so-cool new Layering Circles Framelits.  Using a 2 5/8″ straight-sided circle Framelit, cut a hole in the card base, lining up the center of the framelit with the 2 1/4″ score line – and cheating it towards the side, as you can see in the picture.  While you’ve got that Framelit out, cut another circle of Pink Pirouette card stock. Stampin’ Up! Better Together Birthday Shutter Card

Good morning, y’all!  If you’ve come over from Amy Koender’s blog – welcome!  If you’re one of my regulars – welcome back! 🙂

Today’s card is another shutter card – I made it to share with our Amy’s Inkin’ Krew meeting later today.  About 7 of us will gather round, eat some good food from Panera Bread and have a little business meeting.  Then three of us will share a project and we’ll all put them together.  Jari Francis, Sue Prather and I will be “card-making-in-public”.  Which I sincerely hope won’t be like doing math in public! 😉

I’ve made a few shutter cards for you – and I’m going to be revising my tutorial.  I think I’ve found a little easier way to get the inside sentiment installed – I’ll share that in this post and then update the Tutorial.  Stand-by for that, okay?

This one today uses the beautiful new Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and a new stamp set called Better Together.  Take a look-see:

Better Together Shutter Card 1 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started by making a Basic Black gate card base – 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and score and fold at 2 1/8″ and 6 3/8″.  Then I cut two pieces of the Floral Boutique paper and matted each of them on a piece of Night of Navy (it’s hard to see – but there really is a navy blue mat!).  I SNAILd them both to the front gate panels of the card. Stampin’ Up! Sitting Here with Bella and a Flourish!

Happy Saturday – I hope that you’re getting ready for a fun weekend!  We’re busily cutting and winding and sorting beautiful new designer papers and ribbon and twine and various fun embellishments to fill my Catalog Shares.  I say “we” because…well….

IMG_4055 IMG_4057

Please ignore my messy kitchen, okay?  The housekeeper has the decade off!  The point of the pictures is that my wonderful husband helped me cut paper and wind twine!  He needed to be the paper cutter cuz when I cut it – well, it wasn’t quite right….please check his laser focus on getting the measurements exactly right! 😉  But I did do the twine cutting – or we’d still be doing it – while he measured it to a nano-meter!!  Just in case NASA were to call and need exactly, precisely, 3 yards of Melon Mambo Thick Baker’s Twine.

One just never knows, does one?

And yet – even with his help…we’ve still got a lot to cut and wind!  I’m still behind.  How is that possible, does anyone know?  I sure don’t!

But, I did have some time to make a card for y’all.  This is a request-card.  A couple weeks ago, I made a Get Well card for my friend to give.  She wanted a card with a little white dog on it – but I didn’t have that stamp set yet.  So we decided on a two-parter.  The first card – you can see it here – was a pretty, vintage-y card using the Basket For You Host stamp set.  This one uses Sitting Here – she’d asked for the swing – and the new Bella & Friends for the little dog image.  And I pulled some images and sentiments from the new Flourishing Phrases, too.  Take a look-see:

Flourishing Phrases Comfort & Healing 3 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I started by stamping a Dapper Denim card stock panel with the large flourish image in Flourishing Phrases, in Dapper Denim ink, and lightly sponged the edges in Dapper Denim.  That became my card front.  For the Very Vanilla art panel, I used masking to create my vignette.  So I stamped the cat image from Sitting Here in Soft Suede, then covered him with a mask that I’d made from a sticky note (just stamp the image on a sticky note and fussy cut it).  Over that I stamped the Sitting Here basket of flowers in Always Artichoke.  Then I covered that with a sticky note mask as well.  Finally, I stamped the swing image in Crumb Cake ink. Stampin’ Up! Vertical Greetings Just Because

Good morning, y’all, on this day before the weekend!!

I’ve been packaging up retired goodies and cutting and dividing paper for Catalog Shares and making cards!  And making my garden grow!!

IMG_2686

“Making” is probably too strong a word, falsely implying some level of gardening skill….hovering while it does its thing is probably more accurate!!  Looking forward to garden-fresh tomatoes and the most beautiful green chiles for chile rellenos you’ve ever seen! Continue reading

Stamps-N-Lingers 2016 Retired Product Tool-Box Clearout!

Hey y’all – this is my second post of the day.  If you’re looking for the card I shared today, check it out here!

I’m going to try to downsize some of the many stamps, punches, embossing folders, Thinlits, Framelits, ribbons and even paper that I’ve got that are now retired! I don’t like posting projects I’ve made with products you can’t get anymore – just doesn’t seem fair or fittin’ – so, when SU! puts a product out to pasture….I try not to use it anymore!  Which means I’ve got a lot of fun things that need to go down the road – to make way for the ridiculous number of new goodies I fully intend to have coming in!!  In fact – some of those new pretties will be here this afternoon… 😉

Some things are harder to part with than others – let me tell you! Envelope Liner Framelits. 2 1/2″ Punch. Sigh…

But I’m going to do it – or I’m going to have to add on to my house.  That seems kind of extreme! Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! One Big Meaning World of Thanks

It’s Hawp Day!!  Hey Mike!

Before we hit the card for the day – wanted to tell you that I’ll be posting my Retired Products sale list this afternoon – so watch for a second posting.  I’ll be selling things for half price – plus actual shipping costs.  Stay tuned….

AND – this is the last day for my Double Peppermint Rewards special!  I’ll honor orders placed thru my Online Store anytime today – and I’ll even let you slide in if you’ve got it in before I wake up tomorrow morning!  Cuz that’s how I roll! 🙂

Okay – so today I made a thank you card – I just need them all the time, so it’s kind of my go-to sentiment choice!  I used a couple of older stamp sets – to include A World of Thanks and One Big Meaning.  Take a look-see:

I was playing along with a sketch challenge for this one, and that’s where the layout came from.  The Sunday Stamps Challenge #128: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Wetlands and Guy Greetings for Father’s Day

11 June 16 UPDATE!  I just found out that this card was selected by the Design Team over at The Paper Players as A Cut Above.  Check it – and all the winners! – out right here! 🙂

*****************************

Good morning, y’all!  How’s your week going?  I got some more veggies planted – before the rain came in! And – I named the goose.

Oh – might not have mentioned the goose?  Apparently, we’ve been adopted and granted the privilege of being the new home for a domestic goose.  He (she?) just showed up last Friday.  Might have come from the flock next door.  No clue.  He’s kinda pretty.  And he looks real nice tooling around the pond.

Did you know they swim with their little web legs out behind them?  I always figured – you know, all those times I considered how geese might swim – that they would have their legs under them.  But they don’t!  His little orange legs just stick right out behind him!  It’s kind of cool.

So – since he seems to be planning to stick around for a minute – he sort of likes the scoop of cracked corn he gets every evening (yes, we’re suckers/saps/soft-touches/marshamallows)….I figured I’d name him.

Duck Duck.

As in Duck Duck….Goose!

🙂

Anywho – Duck Duck helped inspire me for today’s card.  I pulled out the Wetlands stamp set – which features a goose – and added a little swath from the Over the Rainbow set.  Since it’s a Father’s Day card – I grabbed a sentiment from Guy Greetings.  Just made sense.  Take a look-see:

I decided to make a Father’s Day card cuz of the sketch challenge over at The Paper Players.  Challenge #298: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Oh, Hello Swirly Bird!

Happy Monday, y’all!  I hope you’re all ready to go back to work!  I’m thinkin’ I may take a day or two off.  Maybe three.  Just to make a few cards, perhaps do some organizing and cleaning up around the house.  Tend my garden – which, OBTW, is growing great guns!!  I need to plant some seeds and get them started.  I’ll take a picture for you for tomorrow.

So, yesterday I pulled out all my retired punches and TIEFs and Framelits and Thinlits and ribbons and all the etc’s.  I stuck them in a box with the retired stamps and punches I already had in there.  In a few days, I’m going to post my Retired SU! products page – so, stay tuned and get some good deals, huh? 😉

Today’s card uses two new stamp sets – Swirly Bird and Thoughtful Banners – to create a quick, fun little card for any occasion.  Take a look-see:

Oh, Hello Swirly Bird 4 - Stamps-N-Lingers

I played along with three challenges today!  The first, for the layout, was the Freshly Made Sketches challenge #239: Continue reading

Stampin’ Up! Affectionately Yours Watercolor Wishes!

Home again!  Yeah!!  Feels good to be back in the fold.  The horses were glad to see me – well, they acted like they were glad…coulda just been the prospect of peppermints! 🙂  And I had a lap full of cat last night – which is pretty much about as good as it gets!!

Speaking of peppermints – just a quick reminder that this is such a great time to start filling up those wish lists from the new 2016-2017 Annual Catalog.  In addition to the great specials that SU! is putting on in the month of June – you can earn DOUBLE peppermint rewards points right now thru Wednesday, 8 June!  So…git yer shop on! 🙂

The focal point for my card today is the very pretty floral paper in the Affectionately Yours DSP.  I used the paper and I replicated the flowers with the Love and Affection stamp set.  With the addition of a sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes stamp set – available exclusively when you purchase the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit – I ended up with a cheerful summery any occasion card.  Take a look-see:

The design for this tall-and-skinny card was inspired by this week’s Mojo Monday challenge sketch #450: Continue reading
