Stampin’ Up! By the Dockside for the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Hey y’all – it’s Thursday, so it’s time for another Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop!!  Today’s a sketch challenge – and I’m excited to see what everyone brings to the table!  I just know you’re going to see a ton of awesome-ness on the hop today!

Yesterday I brought you guys a Mother’s Day card – so it seemed fair to bring a Father’s Day card today!  And I’d been hankering to use the new By the Dock and bundled Dockside Dies, so it seemed like the perfect opportunity!  Take a look-see:

Seriously – the jumping frog?!?

As I mentioned, this was Sketch week – and here’s what we were working with!

And, I’m playing along with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge this week.

I started with some Clubhouse DSP that I matted on Crumb Cake for the card front.

Using some SNAIL, I adhered a short-ish piece of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon onto the card front.

On a piece of Crumb Cake card stock, I stamped a sentiment from the By the Dock set in Soft Suede ink.  Then I cut it out with the largest label die in the Stitched So Sweetly Die set.  That’s popped onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Then I started stamping and cutting the little pieces and parts to finish off the design.

On scrap Crumb Cake, I stamped the oars from the stamp set twice in Soft Suede ink and cut them with their matching dies in the Dockside Dies.  I cut “grass” in Granny Apple Green (two of these), Garden Green and Old Olive vellum from the Perennial Essence 12″ x 12″ Vellum Pack.  I also cut a few extra “cattail” tops from a little bit more Crumb Cake – just the tops.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere those to the cattails on the grasses – I colored one of them with my Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.

I built the collage from the grass up using Liquid Glue and Stampin’ Dimensionals for the cardstock die cuts – and Glue Dots for the vellum grass.

The little frog is a die cut from the Dockside Dies – and is adhered with Liquid Glue.  And he’s about as cute as can be, isn’t he?!?

You can see I tucked the two oars in and amongst the grass – using Liquid Glue to secure them.

I added a few Night of Navy gems from the Holiday Rhinestone Jewels and the card front was done.

On the inside, I added a second sentiment in Soft Suede to a Whisper White panel.  Underneath, I stamped the shoreline image in Crumb Cake.  Then I used a Blender Pen to pull some of the Crumb Cake ink down – and to add Old Olive here and there.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Crumb Cake mat and into my Night of Navy card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got the shoreline image again – and a super-cute Old Olive frog – on the front….

…and more of the plaid Clubhouse DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  So – we’ve got a boat and my husband fishes.  Which makes this By the Dock and matching Dockside Dies a really fun bundle for me.  But…I have to say – the leaping frog is what did it for me!  I mean – seriously cute.  I hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! A Good Man Sneak Peek for Dad

Well.  We did it again!  Made it thru a whole week and here we are on the last day before a weekend!  AND – it’s my husband Wayne’s birthday today! Whoo-hoo!

I did another Sneak Peek for you today – are you getting tired of those yet? 🙂  This one uses one of the several masculine-dad-husband oriented stamp sets in the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog, called A Good Man.  And I paired it with a little of my favorite woodgrain design from the Floral Romance Specialty DSP.   Take a look-see:

The layout for this one comes from this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

…And I used colors from the Sunday Stamps color challenge, too!

I started with a piece of the woodgrain paper from the Floral Romance Specialty DSP (which is going away with the end of the 2019 Occasions Catalog – so get some (more!) of this gorgeous paper soon!).  Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the sweet image from the new A Good Man stamp set (coming in the new catalog on 4 June – or 2 May if you’re a demonstrator!) in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Again with the Stamparatus, I stamped the first sentiment from A Good Man in Mossy Meadow next to the image.

Then I double matted the panel on Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow for the card front.

I used my Journaling Pen to add “stitches” around the edge of the panel.

On a strip of the woodgrain Floral Romance Specialty DSP, I added another A Good Man sentiment in Blackberry Bliss.  Then I snipped banner ends, added faux “stitches” with the Journaling Pen, and popped it on with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I tied a double-loop Billie-Bow with new Mossy Meadow Linen Thread (part of the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack – coming on 4 Jun).  I adhered a Bird Ballad Trinket (yep, coming in the new Annual Catalog) with a Glue Dot, then added my bow with a second Glue Dot.  And the card front was done!

On the inside, I used the marker-to-rubber inking technique and my Stamparatus to add another sentiment from A Good Man in Mossy Meadow and Blackberry Bliss (two “good”) on Sahara Sand.  Then I stamped a final sentiment in Mossy Meadow.  I used new Terracotta Tile ink and, stamping off twice, stamped the heart from A Good Man a couple of times.  Finally, I added more Journaling Pen faux “stitches”.

I used Liquid Glue to mat the panel on Blackberry Bliss and Mossy Meadow, then into my Terracotta Tile card base (4 June), popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got another of the A Good Man images (in Tuxedo Black) and a couple of hearts (in stamped-off-once Terracotta Tile) on the front…

…and a little more Floral Romance Specialty DSP, with a stamped-off-once Terracotta Tile heart, on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I love love love the A Good Man stamp set so much!  The sentiments and images are simply…perfect!  Hope you like!

A Good Man should be available just in time for all your Father’s Day card needs!  You could for SURE get it in time if you sign up to join the team right on 2 May!  You’d be able to pick this one as part of your Starter kit.  Give me a shout if that sounds like a plan to you!

Stampin’ UP! All Geared Up For Father’s Day

Good morning!  Hope your week is going well so far – we’re trying to come out the other side of the latest cold-snap here in Maryland.  Yesterday was so darned cold in the hangar (where our “office” is) that I could hardly type!  Supposed to get warmer tomorrow – so I’m keeping my frozen fingers crossed!

So – just to be sure we’re all on the same sheet of DSP…the news of my impending resignation from Stampin’ Up! yesterday was TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY an April Fool’s joke!  I will not be quitting any time soon – either Stampin’ Up! OR Blogging!  As long as you’ll read my ramblings – I’ll post them!  And, should the day ever come when I might need to leave – I’ll give you plenty (PLENTY!!) of warning.  I promise!

Okay?

For those of you who figured it out yesterday – and then took me up on my offer of Double Peppermints – good on ya! You know me too well!

Now – on to our card.  I thought I’d pull out a bundle that hasn’t seen the light of day for a minute – the Geared Up Garage and matching Garage Gears Thinlits.  Then I set it all atop some Classic Garage 6″ x 6″ DSP.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Best Catch For You, Dad!

Whoo-hooo!!  It’s Friday again! Happy happy joy joy!

My card today is one of those elusive “masculine” cards.  We all sort of have trouble with those, don’t we?  We like flowers and embellishments and “pretty” colors, right?  But, we don’t usually think of those things when we think of making a card for the dudes in our lives.  So it’s happy that Stampin’ Up! listened and brought us the Best Catch stamp set – handily bundled with the great Catch of the Day Framelits.  And – I added those elements to…Floral Romance Specialty DSP – and made a perfectly masculine card.

Say what??

Stampin’ Up! True Gentleman in Plaid

Good Monday, y’all!  It’s the Monday after OnStage – and…wow!  What a weekend it was!  Lots of surprises and fun give-aways!  Saw lots of demonstrator friends-from-afar!  Totally wonderful – and…whew!  I’m tired!  And already excited for Orlando in November!

If you were able to join me last night for my Facebook Live video, I sure do appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me! If not, but you’d like to take a look, here’s the YouTube link.

One of the nicest Suites in the Occasions catalog is the Truly Tailored suite of products  – they’re just perfect for making masculine cards!  Which is exactly what I did with this card today.  I used the Truly Tailored stamp set for the sentiments and the handsome plaid in the True Gentleman DSP.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Custom Tee Masculine Card!

Mornin’, y’all!  Hope your weekend was awesome!!

If you missed my Live Facebook Video last night, you can see it as a replay on my Facebook page, or head over to my post from Sunday – I’ve added a link to it on YouTube! 🙂

Yesterday was our quarterly in-person Amy’s Inkin’ Krew meeting – and I had two of my Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew members in attendance!  How fun is that?  Would you like to be one of my team members?  Actually – you’ll have dual citizenship – you’ll be a Critters-N-Creatin’ Krew member and an Amy’s Inkin’ Krew member!  Twice the fun! 🙂  And, while any time of the year is a great time to join, now – during Sale-A-Bration is the bestest of the greatest time – scroll on down and see why…

We had a great time and made a couple of cute projects.  One of those uses the fun Custom Tee stamp set and matching T-shirt Builder Framelits.  It’s not always easy to make a card for a guy – but this one would surely fill the bill.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Build It Nail It Father’s Day Card

Hey, y’all, happy weekend!  I got a travel reprieve – my trip’s moved to next week!  Of course, it also extended a day, so…the good with the not-so-bueno, I guess!

Now, my card for today is a Father’s Day card.  Yes, I’m aware that Father’s Day isn’t for another few months, but 18 June will be here before you know it!

You know what will not be here then?  The Occasions catalog – which means that the Nailed It stamp set and matching Build It Frameltis – well.  They might not be here either!  So…I wanted to give you an idea for a fun Father’s Day card using these two manly products and some Urban Underground DSP while you’ve still got time to get them.  Take a look-see:

build-it-nailed-it-fathers-day-4-stamps-n-lingers
My layout is from this week’s Sunday Stamps sketch challenge.

ssc146
I started with my fave piece of paper from the Urban Underground DSP and stamped the little screw and smiley face images from Nailed It all over with Whisper White Craft Ink.  Then I SNAILd it on a Delightful Dijon mat.  I used a silver-embossed piece, also matted on Delightful Dijon, across the panel.

The sentiment is on a triple oval – the base mat is Delightful Dijon, cut with a scalloped die in the Ovals Layering Framelits.  Next is a Very Vanilla oval, followed by a third oval in Delightful Dijon. That one was cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits.

build-it-nailed-it-fathers-day-3-stamps-n-lingers
I stamped the Nailed It sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink on a piece of Delightful Dijon card stock, and cut it with the little die in the Build It Framelits.  It’s a cool one – cuz it also embosses a little edged frame as it cuts!

About this time, I pulled out my Hardwood stamp, inked it with Early Espresso ink, and stamped a piece of Delightful Dijon card stock.  The first thing I cut from it was a second little frame, which I adhered to my oval-stack with Liquid Glue.  I popped the sentiment frame over the top of that – offset slightly – with Stampin’ Dimensionals.  Then I popped the whole sentiment oval onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

build-it-nailed-it-fathers-day-8-stamps-n-lingers

Then I built some tools!  I cut a hammer and a screwdriver from the Hardwood-stamped card stock.  Using the same dies, I cut a hammer head and a screwdriver head from a piece of Silver Foil.  I adhered my silver tool-heads to their respective tools with Liquid Glue.  Then I used my Stylus on the back of each tool to create some depth.  And I gently rubbed some details into the fronts, too!

I wrapped a little piece of Basic Black Solid Baker’s Twine around the tool handles (used a Glue Dot on the back to hold it in place), then I popped it onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

build-it-nailed-it-fathers-day-1-stamps-n-lingers
I added a few Urban Underground Embellishments and a little screw that I’d cut with the die in the Build It Framelits from a piece of Silver Foil.  And that was it for the card front.

On the inside, I stamped the second sentiment from Nailed It on a Very Vanilla panel – I used the marker-to-rubber technique and colored the stamp directly with the Basic Black and Delightful Dijon markers.  Then I added the hammer I’d already put together.  I’d made it – I was going to use it, by golly!  And who said you can’t put dimensional things on the inside of a card?  I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to help my hammer look more real!  I also stamped some Basic Black Archival Ink screws, too!

build-it-nailed-it-fathers-day-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAIL the panel to a Delightful Dijon mat and into my Basic Black card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got a few more Nailed It screws on the front, as well as some Delightful Dijon smiley faces…

build-it-nailed-it-fathers-day-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and I added some more of the Urban Underground DSP – that I stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink with screws and smiles – on the envelope flap.

build-it-nailed-it-fathers-day-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  I think this one turned out to be pretty fun, don’t you!?  Don’t miss out on getting this set and having all the tools (see what I did there?!) on hand when it comes time to make your Father’s Day cards in a few more months!  Hope you like!

Scroll on down for the card cuts and all the products you’ll need to make this one for yourself!

FINN-FAN FIX….

As a horse owner, there are a few directives from the veterinarian that we dread hearing….

“Give him 20 of these pills twice a day for 10 days”.  This one is a booger, unless you have a Haflinger who’ll eat the pills straight out of her bucket.

“You’ll need to soak this foot for 30 minutes 3 times a day for two weeks”.  Oh my – the back….the aching back!  Not to mention the three or four clothes changes resulting from the bucket of hot water being tossed about by an uncooperative horse!

And…”He’s on stall rest for a week.  You can hand walk him for 15 minutes a few times a day, but that’s it”.

That last one – yikes.  Horses move.  They need to move.  When they don’t move – they get….whack!!  Quick.

And so do 8 1/2″ month Australian Shepherds.  So, when the vet said to “keep him from running around and jumping as best you can for a few days” to let his sprained toe heal…my heart kind of sank. 🙁

So, on Friday morning, I kept him on the leash for his whole “run” – more like a quiet trot.  He didn’t like it.

finn-holding-up-his-hurt-foot
“Please, Mom.  Pleeeeaaaaasssseeee!!!!!  I know I’m holding my hurt foot up cuz of how it hurts, but pleaaaaaaaaaasee  let me off this leash!  I need to run-gallop-leap-bound-cavort-gallop-and-jump!  But I won’t if you don’t want me to – I prooooooomise!!  I’ll just walk right by you if you’ll just…let…me…off…the….leash…..!”

I didn’t succumb!  Cuz I think he was lying.  I was strong.  But….it’s going to be a long few days!
