Stampin’ Up! Tropical Chic Oasis and a Blog Candy Winner!

Good morning!!  This is a big Tuesday for us – not cuz it’s Cinco De Mayo but…cuz it’s PRE-ORDER day!!  Whoo-hooo!  I’m excited to get a few of the new goodies – and start to share them with you.  You’ll be able to get them for yourself on 3 Jun!  Of course, you could also decide to join the SU! team right now and then YOU could be sitting at your computer picking new goodies!! 🙂 Interested?  Give me a shout!

Of course – the dark side of new goodies is…saying good-bye to some old friends.  Like…the Tropical Chic stamp set and coordinating Tropical Dies.  These are in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog.  And – from the Jan-Jun Mini, I used some retiring Tropical Oasis DSP and the wonderful Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder!  Take a look-see:

The layout – and the theme! – is from the FUSION challenge this week.  I went for both sides!!

I started with a piece of Early Espresso card stock and embossed it in the Coastal Wevae 3D Embossing Folder (I am pretty bummed this is leaving us – hope you’ve got it.  If not… 🙂 ).  Then I matted it on Grapefruit Grove (the In Color I’m going to miss the most!) for the card front.

Next up, I used the square die in the Tropical Dies to cut a piece of Grapefruit Grove.  Now – this die actually cuts negative space into a piece of cardstock.  So, I used my Paper Trimmer to cut it out.  I cut a same-size square of the Tropical Oasis DSP.

With Liquid Glue – I adhered the die cut to the DSP square – and then to the card front.

With Liquid Glue, I created a “twist” from a piece of 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim (also retiring!) and then used more Liquid Glue to adhere it to the card front.

I stamped the Tropical Chic sentiment in Shaded Spruce on a strip of Whisper White and snipped a banner end.  With my Grapefruit Grove Stampin’ Write Marker, I edged the strip.  Then I used Liquid Glue under the left end – and doubled-up Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the strip.

Using my Stamparatus, I stamped the little flower from Tropical Chic.  I used the Marker-to-Rubber technique with the Grapefruit Grove Stampin’ Write Marker.  I finished up the flower by adding some Shaded Spruce accents with my Stampin’ Write Marker.

Finally – I cut it with the die in the Tropical Die set and adhered it to the end of the sentiment strip with Liquid Glue.  And that was it for the card front!

On the inside, I added a second Tropical Chic sentiment in Shaded Spruce to a Whisper White panel. Then I stamped the little flower in Grapefruit Grove and Shaded Spruce.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Grapefruit Grove mat and into my Shaded Spruce card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Tropical Chic flower on the front…

…and some more of the Tropical Oasis DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  Tropical Chic – and the coordinating Tropical Dies (on sale for just $18.90!!) – is a really nice set – with pretty tropical leaves (with dies to cut them out!!) and sentiments!

And you ALL know how I feel about the wunnermus Tropical Oasis DSP!!

I hope you like – and will get these goodies before they’re gone!  Remember – only the stamp sets are guaranteed thru 15 May.  Everything else is strictly while supplies last.  So…

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Well – we turned the A/C on on Monday.

Bleh.  I really love the windows open but…it was just too hot.

For us.

And for the fur-monger.  He was sleeping in front of the back door – sleep-panting… 🙁

So – it seemed like a good day for ice cream.

He agreed!! 🙂

He REALLY puts his whole self into his ice cream!!

Stampin’ Up! Happy Tails Pressed Petals Sympathy

Happy Monday, y’all!  Don’t know if you’re in a re-opening state or still in a state-of-self-isolation, but… I hope your week is shaping up to be a good one!  Are you planning a Cinco De Mayo celebration?  🙂

My card today is one I hate having to make.  My friend from work (pre-retirement!) lost his sweet German Shepherd Jenna last weekend. He was, understandably, pretty down in the dumps.  So…I figured I’d send them a card and a little gift.  I pulled out the retiring Happy Tails stamp set, added a Stitched Be Mine heart and set it all atop some retiring Pressed Petals Specialty DSP.  Take a look-see:

The layout for this one was inspired by this week’s CAS Colours & Sketches challenge.

And – it fits well with the Addicted to CAS Code Word challenge!

So – I started with a piece of wood pattern paper in the gorgeous Pressed Petals Specialty DSP (you guys – this wonderful paper is leaving us and is only available while supplies last – don’t miss a chance to get another pack in your stash!).  I added a strip of the burlap design on the right side with some Liquid Glue.  Then I matted it on Basic Black for the card front.

I wrapped a length of 3/8″ Denim Ribbon (this is sticking around for another year – YEAH!!) around the seam – securing it in the back with a couple of Glue Dots.

I stamped the sentiment from Happy Tails in Night of Navy on another piece of burlap paper and cut it out with one of the hearts in the Stitched Be Mine die set.

With my Journaling Pen, I made a doodle-dot-dash border around the edge of the heart – then popped it onto the card front with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

With the Dog Builder Punch (which IS carrying over!), I punched a Basic Black dog (I know – not a GSD….best I could do!!) and adhered him with a combination of Liquid Glue and Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Also using the Dog Builder Punch, I punched a little Terracotta Tile heart and adhered it with a dab of Liquid Glue.

I tied a denim ribbon bow and adhered it with a Glue Dot – and that finished off the card front!

On the inside, I stamped a second sentiment from Happy Tails in Night of Navy on a Very Vanilla panel.  I added the paw print in Terracotta Tile right over the word “heart”.

Get it?  Paw print ON your heart?

Oh – check the gift…

Car Magnet.  See a theme?! 🙂

I added some more Terracotta Tile pawprints, then adhered the panel to a Basic Black panel and into my Terracotta Tile card base, popped the card front on with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Very Vanilla Medium Envelope got more of the paw prints on the front…

…and some burlap paper – with more paw prints! – on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I am sorry to see Happy Tails leave us – it’s perfect for this kind of need, don’t you think?  And Keep Calm and Wag On isn’t too shabby for this time in the world, either, is it??

And there aren’t enough superlatives for the Pressed Petals Specialty DSP – if you don’t have some – get it RIGHT NOW.  If you have some, get MORE.  RIGHT NOW!!  Just sayin!

I hope you like!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Finn Fan Fix

When I start dinner in the late afternoon, the first step is to tidy the kitchen.

You know – so I can mess it up again.

This involves putting away the clean dishes from the dishwasher and loading the breakfast/lunch stuff.  It’s never a lot, but you know.

Finn watches very diligently.

He knows when I switch from “emptying clean” to “loading dirty”.

And the INSTANT I make that switch, he is right there lickinglickinglicking.

After dinner – he knows he doesn’t even have to wait, so he’s right there from the jump.  He especially loves when I’ve used the griddler for like…a steak.  Or a hamburger.  Or asparagus.  He’s not all that picky! 😉

Lick…..

Stampin’ Up! You Always Deliver Sunshine for The Paper Players

Hey y’all – it’s Sunday, which means I’ve got another fun challenge for you from the Paper Players – it’s a theme challenge from our clever Joanne this week and it’ll for sure jump-start your creative mojo!  I hope you’ll come and play along.  🙂

If you were able to join me yesterday for my Facebook Live video, I appreciate you spending some of your weekend with me!  If you weren’t able to watch the live version, but you’d like to see the replay on YouTube…here ’tis!

Our theme this week – and yours, too, if you come to play – is Make You Smile.  I know that for so many of us, the sight of the Big Brown Truck pulling up ALWAYS make us smile (I know it does for me!).  So – I pulled out the retiring You Always Deliver stamp set.  And, since I alway smile at a good pun or cute sentiment – I used one of the cute sentiments from the Share Sunshine COVID-19 Digital download.  Take a look-see:

And here’s this week’s Paper Players theme challenge!  Hope you’ll join the fun and show us your projects!  I can’t wait to see what you create!  🙂

I pulled my layout from the Global Design Project sketch this week.

I decided this would be a great card to try out the Scrappy Strip technique that I learned from the wunnermus Bruno Bertucci (yes – of the Kylie/Bruno super-duo!!).

I started with a larger-than-I-needed piece of Basic Black cardstock to create the card front.  Using Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Early Espresso and Sahara Sand paper from the Neutrals 6″ x 6″ DSP (which I just now at this very moment realized is SOLD OUT – I’m so sorry!), I adhered the strips to the panel with Liquid Glue.  I eye-balled the spacing and used three of each color to create to ombre effect of the sketch!

Once I had all the strips where they belonged, I used my Paper Trimmer to cut the panel down to size. Then I adhered it onto a Basic Black mat.

I tied a loose figure-eight from a doubled up length of the 3/16″ Braided Linen Trim and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

On a piece of Whisper White, I stamped the You Always Deliver delivery dude in Tuxedo Black and colored him with my Soft Suede and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Combos.  I added the heart image in Poppy Parade – and cut him with an oval Stitched Shapes Die.

Using the Share Sunshine PDF that I downloaded (get yours right here!), I printed the page I wanted on a piece of Whisper White.  Then I used a Stitched Rectangle Die to cut out the Black version of the fun sentiment I wanted.  I decided it needed another heart, so I used the Poppy Parade Stampin’ Write Marker to color one onto the die cut.

I popped the two die cuts onto the card front – over the Linen Trim – with Black Stampin’ Dimensionals.  And the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped the perfectly perfect sentiment from You Always Deliver in Tuxedo Black on a Whisper White panel.  In the corner, I added the sweet pooch from the set in Tuxedo Black and colored him in Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.  I added some more hearts in Poppy Parade.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Basic Black Mat and into my Poppy Parade card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another You Always Deliver pupper and hearts on the front…

…and some Soft Suede paper on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  It’s kind of a shame that the You Always Deliver is going away – cuz…it SO represents us as crafters, doesn’t it?? Without the guy in the big brown truck….sigh.  No big brown boxes of Stampin’ Up! goodies to see arrive in the driveway!

I hope you like!

If you want to recreate this card – all the Stampin’ Up! products you need are listed down below along with the card cuts!

Now – before you reach for your ink and papers, check out what our amazing team has created to inspire you this week:

Finn Fan Fix

So – as the child of an Air Force pilot, Finn was….disappointed…to not get to go with us yesterday!

We went to Costco.  Cuz…after looking at the planned flight path for the Thunderbirds/Blue Angels joint fly-over, it was pretty obvious we’d never even see them from here.  But – we knew we’d be shopping after – and…too hot for fur kids! 🙁

It turned out we were far from the only ones there!

This is what AirShows-in-the-Time-of-COVID-19 look like, I guess!

We did have some special spectators – I was happy to see them and get a chance to thank them for what they do for us every day.

As they drove in – everyone got out of their cars and gave them a standing ovation.  There might have been some whoo-hooing going on, too!

They had AWESOME seats!!

Finally – after I had a chance to run into Costco to get a couple of lavender plant/trees – here they came!!

They actually made two passes….to be honest, thru the camera, I could never find the Thunderbirds.  Their F-16’s are predominantly white and were very very hard to see in the bright afternoon sun – and thru the camera?  Nope.

Also?  Only the Angels – in their Navy Blue livery – were easily visible.   They’re also the only part of the formation that popped smoke on their passes.

On the second pass, I tried to take some video.

But…that really didn’t work out at all…. 🙁

It was really cool to see them – it’s almost unheard of for both teams to fly together like this, so…pretty amazing to see! And they quite obviously took great pains to give as many folks in the metro area a chance to see them as they could.  Kudos and a virtual salute to our men and women in the skty

Finn?

Well.  HE was upside down, legs akimbo – sawing logs when we got home.  I guess the movie I left running wasn’t interesting enough to keep him awake!!

My fierce guard dog…

Stampin’ Up! You Always Deliver and Share Sunshine Video Sneak Peek

Hey, guys.  Happy Saturday!  Hope you’ve got something fun planned!  We’ll mess around here and then try to see the joint Blue Angels/Thunderbirds flyover this afternoon.  I am so hoping they come over us – but…based on the published flight path, I fear they’re going to be a little too east of us.  But…you never know, so…fingers crossed!

I’ll be back inside and going live on my Stamps-N-Lingers FB page tonight at 7pm Eastern with a fun card using the Share Sunshine COVID-19 Giveback Digital download and…the retiring You Always Deliver stamp set!  We’re also going to play with a fun background technique that I think you’ll like.  Take a sneaky peek!

It’s fun – and it’ll give you a chance to see how you can use the Share Sunshine PDF!

So – I hope you can join me.  Tonight.  7pm Eastern.  Right here!

Okay – so it might not be all that traditional in north Georgia when performed by a guy in hiking boots! 😉

Happy Friday!!  Hope it’s been a good week for you. We’re just doing the self-isolation/quarantine thing…how about you?  Besides card making – what fun things are you doing to keep yourself busy (and sane!) as we head into the 765th weekend of The COVID-19 Crisis??

If you were able to join me for my YouTube video – I appreciate you spending some of your day with me!  If not, but you’d like to see the replay…here ’tis!

As you can see from the photo above – this card is based on the wonderful Magnolia Lane Suite – the Good Morning Magnolia bundle (with the Magnolia Memories Die set) and gorgeous Magnolia Lane DSP!  I created a fun-fold that looks a lot like an envelope so…that’s what I’m calling it!  Take a look-see:

The layout – that I turned into a fun-fold! – was inspired by this week’s Tuesday Morning Sketches challenge.

I started with a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock that I scored and folded at 2 5/8″ and again at 6 7/8″ for the card base.

On the smaller panel, I measured and marked the half-way point (2 3/4″) and used my Paper Trimmer to cut the point.

.

I used the same technique (measure half-way down the long side and cut to the point) to create the Petal Pink mat (2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″) and the Magnolia Lane DSP (2 3/8″ x 4 7/8″) panel.  Note – this part of the card is at about the 7:35 mark in the video! 🙂

Then I adhered the pieces together and to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I adhered a different design of the DSP to a larger Petal Pink mat and then to the larger panel on the front.

For the sentiment, I inked the Good Morning Magnolia sentiment in Versamark Ink and stamped it on a piece of Basic Black card stock. I sprinkled it with White Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.  When it was cool, I cut it out with a Stitched So Sweetly label die.

Using the small flower die in the Magnolia Memories Die set – I cut a magnolia blossom from one of the designs in the Magnolia Lane DSP.  I used the leaves dies to cut three Mossy Meadow leaves.

Using Liquid Glue – I adhered the flower to the sentiment label and the leaves to the underside of the label.

I used Black Stampin’ Dimensionals to adhere the sentiment to the point of the envelope fold – being sure to leave room for my ribbon to slide through to create my closure.

I added some Pearl Basic Jewels to the label – and the card front was done!

For the inside, I stamped the small flower from Good Morning Magnolia in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a Whisper White panel.  I colored the bloom with my Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Blends Combo.  Then I added a sentiment in Mossy Meadow.

I used Liquid Glue to adhere the panel to a Petal Pink mat and into my card base – and the card was done!

I slid a length of ribbon (either Petal Pink 5/16″ Organdy Striped Ribbon or the linen ribbon from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack – which is retiring and on sale!!) under the label and tied a bow to create the closure for the card.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another Good Morning Magnolia blossom on the front…

…and some more Magnolia Lane DSP on the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  This is a super easy fold – once you know the dimensions for the pointy flap, right?  I love how it lets you showcase some gorgeous DSP like the Retiring-soon Magnolia Lane paper (and – it’s got a GREAT price right now)!  I hope you like!

And I’m SO happy that the Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and coordinating Magnolia Memories Dies are carrying over!

Do remember, though – that the BUNDLE pricing (with its 10% Savings) WILL go away when this catalog ends.  You’ll have to purchase the stamp set and dies separately in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog!

Just sayin’….

Some days?  The quarantining is just…too much for a guy.  The humans need too much attention.  Too much love.  Too much…everything.

And you have to go sit out in a clearing by yourself and watch the birds and bugs.  And maybe a deer.  A little Me time.

Just for a bit.
