Stampin’ Up! Into the Woods, Lighthearted Vintage Leaves….Thanks!

I saw them!  Really!  Leaves turning color.  I’m not delusional.  Our Dogwood Trees are starting to show some color!  That means there’s hope, folks.  The summer sauna WILL end!  And then I’ll be whining about being cold – just you wait and see.  And when I do, please feel free to direct my attention back to these posts where I whined and complained about the heat.  You have my permission to rub my virtual face in it! 🙂

I had a card all ready to go for today’s post, using the beautiful new Dove of Peace stamp that you can get your hot little hands on on 1 Sept.  But then, I made up a card for a CAS(e) This Sketch challenge, and I was so tickled with it that I switched up the batting order.  The Dove will debut on Saturday!

This is the sketch that inspired my design.  Those folks over at CTS are really talented and they give us such fun sketches for inspiration.  This is Sketch #137.  Be sure to go over and check them out, okay?

I went to a few obvious choices for this one.  Well, obvious for me, anyway.  Vintage Leaves.  Lighthearted Leaves.  Into the Woods DSP.  And – more of the wondrous Corrugated Paper!!  Love love LOVE this stuff!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! To You & Yours, Too teams up with Wonderland

Yesterday was a “Fall” day and today is a “Christmas” day.  In card land.  In Atlanta-land, it’s summer.  In the very worst sense of the word.  Hot.  Humid.  Afternoon thundershowers that just up the humidity even more.  We’re considering scuba gear.  To go to the grocery store.  We’re scrubbing mold off the mold.  It’s my very least favorite time of the year.  I think that’s why I ended up with a card that – for me – evokes a crisp winter evening, bright with stars.  The “bright with stars” part makes it pretty obvious it’s NOT in Atlanta.  I know the stars are there….but….

My mom would point out that the Colorado mountains have stars galore.  And she’d be right!

This card uses two Holiday Catalog stamp sets – To You & Yours, Too and Wonderland.  I used a fun, and easy, clear-resist technique.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Lighthearted Leaves Come Home for Christmas

Welcome to Wednesday!  For today, I have a lovely stamp set to showcase for you – one that is in the Holiday Catalog.  Which means it’ll be avaialble to you on 1 Sept.  Which is exactly 13 days away.  That’s like a blink!  If you have a catalog, are you busily marking your wishlist?  If you are, and you didn’t put this set on the list – I think you might want to reconsider!

This is the only stamp set I used today.  I also used some of the new Designer Series Paper – Home for Christmas to be exact – which you’ll get 6 – 6″ x 6″ pieces of if you order a Paper or I Want it All Catalog share.  See below for the deets!  And go to the 2015 Holiday Catalog Shares page to see everything that’s in this pack of DSP.

So – I combined the paper, the stamp set, and my new fave, the Woodland TIEF and this is what I got.  Take a look-see:

What’s Up at Stampin’ Up! for 18 August

Before I delve into the new Weekly Deals and Stampin’ Up! Updates – I’m going to take a half a second to brag on my buddy.  As you know, on Sunday, Wayne and I attended the White Coat Ceremony for the incoming Class of 2019 at the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine.  It was so cool that I wanted to share a couple of pictures!  The class, which numbers 114 in total (out of 1025 applicants!  Yikes!) all walked across the stage and a couple of ranking members of the School helped the new doc-to-be put his/her white coat on.  I know – I should know who they are but 1) they ran out of programs before we got there even though we were almost an hour early! and 2) the lady doing the introductions wasn’t close enough to the mic and I believe she had marbles in her mouth!

There’s Docta Chris (that’s what we’re calling him these days!) doing the handshake!

Stampin’ Up! Joyful Season Cardinal Welcomes Fall!

Well, it’s Sunday.  And we’re on the way north to Athens to watch Chris get his white coat!  And I’m blogging for Monday cause I figure we’ll be gone all day. In fact, I’m chatting with Chris’ parents, in the car, and blogging at the same time!  I’m a multi-tasker that way! It’s just how I roll.

Just to be clear – I am NOT driving! 😉

I got up early and made this card using two new products from the Holiday Catalog – going LIVE in just 15 days!  I used the new stamp set called Joyful Season and one of the wondrous new Textured Embossing Folders – Woodland.  This one is truly one of my favorite new things – looks just like an aspen grove in the mountains of Colorado!  I combined them to welcome Fall.  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Hardwood Mini Treat Bag and a Barnyard Baby Piggy!

Real quick post today!  Why?  Cause “quick” is how this mini treat bag aka gift card holder goes together!  And – that’s from a person who hasn’t made one of them before.  That’s me in case you’re wondering! 🙂

You’ll recall at the beginning of the week I made a card and envelope for Chris – who we’ll go see tomorrow at his UGA Veterinary School “White Coat Ceremony”.  Here’s that post if you want to see how I made this card set….

I show you this so you’ll understand why I made the treat holder the way I made the treat holder.  Er….gift card holder!

Stampin’ Up! Every Blessing – One Stamp Set, Two Cards

I’ve gotten some feedback from a few folks that indicate that they’d like to see cards that are….simpler.  And take fewer goodies to make.  I completely get that!  When I first started doing this – heck, even today!! – I’d see posts come thru and think “I’ve got to have that stamp set, and another pack of paper, and a punch or two, maybe a Thinlit set, some different ink…”  Usually I’d just buy it – cause I’m weak!  But, just as soon as that package came, I’d see another post with another wonderful card and the cycle would start anew!

So, I decided to try to incorporate some card/stamp combos like that.  Give you some ideas to maximize your return and keep the budget under control!  I’ll try to do it maybe once a week.  What do you think?  Well – maybe I’ll ask that again at the END of this post! 🙂

For this first installment, I’m using a brand new Holiday Stamp set – that you can get on 1 Sept – to make two Christmas cards.  I’ve also used a limited number of tools and accessories.  The stamp set is called Every Blessing – and it’s gorgeous.  It’s three stamps – and I’ve used them all on these cards.  And that’s the only set I needed!  Take a look-see:

Stampin’ Up! Hearth and Home Sleigh Ride

Today’s share ended up being more of a CASE of my friend Amy Koenders’ card than I meant it to be.  It was a busier day that went longer than I’d planned and I didn’t even start working on my card until almost 7:30 – which is approximately 5 min before I’m thinking about bedtime!  I’d already decided I wanted to play with my new Hearth and Home Thinlits (which will be available for you guys on 1 Sept – and comes in a 15% off bundle called the Happy Scenes Photopolymer Bundle) and the new Sleigh Ride Edgelits.  I’d been thinking it would be cool to somehow use the Sleigh Ride die cuts behind the Hearth and Home window die cut and I didn’t change my mind even after seeing Amy’s card, so mine ended up being sort of like her’s and sort of not!! 😉  Take a look see at what I came up with:

Stampin’ Up! Barnyard Babies Congrats and Blog Candy #3 Winner!

We have a WINNER!!  My 100th Blog-post-iversary Blog Candy #3 will be on its way to its new home soon!  Read on down to see who the lucky winner is! Thanks to all who played and helped me celebrate 100 posts! 🙂

Now, I know that yesterday I told you to expect a card made with my new 2015 Holiday Catalog goodies.  But – we have a special event coming up and I needed a card.  And my brain had been running around an idea for a couple of days and I needed to get it made before I lost it!  Anyone able to relate to that??  Here’s what’s happening.

Chris – one of the twins I’ve told you guys about quite a bit in this blog – has (as you know!) been accepted to the University of GA School of Veterinary Medicine.  He starts class in about a week.  Sunday, they’re holding what they call The White Coat Ceremony.  We’re all going up to see what I assume is going to involve music and some cheering and some pep talks and maybe a few warnings about the difficulties and trials that lie ahead of them.  After the ceremony, we’ll tour the brand new, state of the art facilities at the school.  I’m really looking forward to going.  This is a really big deal for Chris – he’s worked so hard to get to this point, and we couldn’t be prouder of him.  As part of the deal, we’ll give him a gift of some sort (probably cash! 🙂 ) and, of course, a card!

He’s going to be a vet.  Barnyard Babies has animals.  Hello?  It’s pretty much a no-brainer.  Take a look-see:
