What’s Up at Stampin’ Up! for 18 August

Before I delve into the new Weekly Deals and Stampin’ Up! Updates – I’m going to take a half a second to brag on my buddy.  As you know, on Sunday, Wayne and I attended the White Coat Ceremony for the incoming Class of 2019 at the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine.  It was so cool that I wanted to share a couple of pictures!  The class, which numbers 114 in total (out of 1025 applicants!  Yikes!) all walked across the stage and a couple of ranking members of the School helped the new doc-to-be put his/her white coat on.  I know – I should know who they are but 1) they ran out of programs before we got there even though we were almost an hour early! and 2) the lady doing the introductions wasn’t close enough to the mic and I believe she had marbles in her mouth!

There’s Docta Chris (that’s what we’re calling him these days!) doing the handshake!

After everyone got their coats, they all stood up and took the Veterinarian’s Oath.  UGA considers them “in” the profession of Veterinary Medicine as soon as they enter, unlike many vet schools that make the kids wait until they go into their third year.  It was pretty neat to listen to them pledge to work for the benefit of animals for the remainder of their professional lives.  Good on them!

After that, there was a reception and we all toured the brand new (I mean – like it opened in May!) school facility.  It’s a truly state-of-the-art $97M center for veterinary medicine and the teaching of that profession.  They have a particle accelerator!  We never saw the flux capacitor, but I’m pretty sure it must have been in there somewhere.

We also took some pictures – after walking around on the tour in the heat and humidity.  You can see that it really hurt Courtney (Chris’ long-time girlfriend) I mean, really, look at her.  She’s completely disheveled! 😉

Don’t they make a lovely couple??

Wayne and I even got in the picture with Docta Chris…

You’ll notice the completely adorable dog peering over our shoulders?  Chris’ mom and I were so tickled at that picture that she made sure all the pictures were taken right under him!  He’s a seriously cute guy.

Anyway – thanks for indulging me and letting me ramble on.  As you’re reading this, Chris is on Day Two of his most excellent adventure! 🙂

On to the Weekly Deals and all things Stampin’ Up!

I wanted to let you know about the new Stampin’ Rewards program.  It used to be that in order to get these rewards, you had to HOST a workshop.  Now, though – all you have to do is order over $150 of merchandise!  Of course you can also get a bunch of your friends together and gather orders that get over that mark!

With purchases greater than $150, you earn Stampin’ Rewards that can be used to purchase ANY current items in the current catalogs. For example, a $150 order will earn you $15 of free merchandise (10%). This reward used to be called Host Rewards, but since the rewards are available for single purchasers (you don’t have to host a party to earn the rewards), the name was changed to Stampin’ Rewards. Cool, huh?

One of the perks of earning Stampin’ Rewards is that you can use them to purchase specially-priced Host Sets (that name didn’t change from the previous plan). These sets are available to anyone who gathers orders that combine to $150 or to anyone who places an order greater than $150. If you haven’t checked out these beautiful sets, take a look-see:

And – hint – the new Holiday catalog has two gorgeous Host Sets.  Take a gander at them in the back of your 2015 Holiday Catalog.  What??  You don’t HAVE a 2015 Holiday Catalog?!?  Want one?  Well, if you think you might be interested in ordering from me, head over to my Contact page and let me know you’d like a Holiday Catalog.  I’ll get one out to you right away! 🙂

Catalog Shares for the new Holiday papers and embellishments are open for a couple more weeks.  I’ll close it up on the 30th and order on 1 Sept.  Don’t miss out.  Go here for all the deets, including pictures of all the papers, ribbons and embellishments!

The very popular new Bow Builder Punch is on the Weekly Deals list!  If that is on YOUR list – best get it fast.  I’m bettin’ it’ll be gone and on the backorder list in a flash!

Check in tomorrow for a pretty card using just one stamp set – the Holiday set called Lighthearted Leaves…..

  1. So cool! Thanks for sharing. Love the puppy peeking over your shoulders in the pictures, that’s awesome. 🙂

  2. Patricia

Hi Mary, It is a joy to see a picture of you, after all this time! Thanks for sharing your experience as you celebrated this milestone in the life of your friend and young doctor. We love our pets, and it is great to learn more about the training that vets go through.

  3. LOL, Patricia! I don’t get in front of the camera very often (as my Mom will attest to!) 🙂 Appreciate you taking the time to read my little story!

  4. Great picture and love the story-especially how they take the oath at the beginning of study!

  5. Thanks, Jari – it was a super day!
