Stampin’ Up! Lighthearted Leaves Come Home for Christmas

Welcome to Wednesday!  For today, I have a lovely stamp set to showcase for you – one that is in the Holiday Catalog.  Which means it’ll be avaialble to you on 1 Sept.  Which is exactly 13 days away.  That’s like a blink!  If you have a catalog, are you busily marking your wishlist?  If you are, and you didn’t put this set on the list – I think you might want to reconsider!

This is the only stamp set I used today.  I also used some of the new Designer Series Paper – Home for Christmas to be exact – which you’ll get 6 – 6″ x 6″ pieces of if you order a Paper or I Want it All Catalog share.  See below for the deets!  And go to the 2015 Holiday Catalog Shares page to see everything that’s in this pack of DSP.

So – I combined the paper, the stamp set, and my new fave, the Woodland TIEF and this is what I got.  Take a look-see:

The design for this card came from the Mojo Monday #411 sketch challenge.  Take a hop over there and see what other folks have come up with for this fun sketch!

MM 411 sketch

I started with a panel of Very Vanilla card stock, that I embossed with the Woodland TIEF.  I decided I was going to use the de-bossed side – I just thought it would fade a little more into the background, and that’s what I was looking for.

The musical paper is one of the great pieces in the new Home for Christmas paper.  I matted it on a piece of Basic Black Card Stock.  Before I adhered it, I ran the two diagonal pieces of Basic Black 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon (I’m really loving this beautiful stitched ribbon – it’s in such pretty colors!  But – it’s not twine, so you’ll notice I’ve stayed away from making bows…. 😉 ) across the Woodland embossed panel.  I used a couple of little dots of Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue under the ribbon on the front, just to help me get the spacing right.  Then I secured it on the back with tape.

Then I SNAILd the matted music onto the card front.

For the art piece, I stamped the sentiment from Lighthearted Leaves onto a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.  Then I added the large maple leaf, this time in the new Basic Black Archival Ink.  This stuff is great for coloring – cause it doesn’t run/smear!  Then I got my color-er on and did some accenting of the leaf with my Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Write Markers.  I matted the piece with Cajun Craze and then SNAILd it to the card.

The three leaf elements are cut with the Leaflets Framelits Dies – which are in the new Annual Catalog – and are available bundled with the Vintage Leaves stamp set, for a savings of 15%!  Add in the fact that these dies also work with this Holiday stamp set – and you’re talking some really good bang for the buck!

I stamped each leaf on some Very Vanilla card stock in Basic Black Archival Ink, and then cut them with the correct die.  Then I colored them with the Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry Markers.

The bottom small leaf is SNAILd on and the other two leaves are adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals – just to get a little depth into the scene.  Both small leaves got a tiny Pearl Basic Jewel.  Cause it felt like it’d been a while since I put any pearls anywhere.  And cause they really look awesome with this color scheme!

The final step was to pop the card front onto my Cajun Craze card base with more Dimensionals, and it was time to move inside!

All I did inside was add a second sentiment – again from Lighthearted Leaves – and a couple more leaves – using Archival Ink (this is going to be an awesome addition to my stash, I can already tell!).  I colored the leaves again – just like on the front, and that was all it took!

I made an envelope to match – starting with a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope.  More leaves.  More Archival Ink.  More Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.  You get the picture!

And yes, those leaves are in the top left hand corner of the envelope.  Let’s just pretend that’s what I planned, okay??

Et Volia!  I have a lovely matched set of any-occasion-thinking-about-you-thank-you note card. I love the quiet fall colors – Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze and Basic Black.  The little dabs of Blackberry Bliss are barely there – but they add a very subtle touch of color.  I like to think Emily would approve. 🙂

TTFN and see you tomorrow!

Mary
