Stampin’ Up! Embossed Eclectic Banners for You

Happy Monday, y’all!  I think this will be my last Monday post from Florida!  And – I won’t lie.  I’m really ready to go home.  Want to see my husband and Finn and the panthers and ponies.  Ready to play in the veggie garden.  🙂

If you were able to join my Facebook Live video last nice – thank you so much.  If not, here’s a link to the video on You Tube – enjoy!

I had a good time playing with the new Embossing Paste and the Naturally Eclectic bundle of goodies.  Along with a little bit of Banners for You.  Take a look-see:

As I said yesterday, I played across the middle on this week’s Stamp Ink Paper Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.

The layout itself was inspired by the sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

I used some pretty green paper from the Naturally Eclectic DSP for the card base, and did a little embossing on it with the new Embossing Paste.  My “stencil” was made by cutting the geometric die in the Eclectic Layers Thinlits from a piece of Thick Card Stock.

I also made a couple of “stencils” by die cutting the flower from Eclectic Layers and embossing them on Thick Whisper White card stock.  I used some Powder Pink Ink Refill to color one batch of Embossing Paste and Lemon Lime Twist ink refill for the other.  I embossed a Powder Pink and Lemon Lime Twist flower on the middle Whisper White panel, then matted it on a piece of Powder Pink card stock.

I used a little Liquid Glue to run a length of Lemon Lime Twist 1/2″ Finely Woven Ribbon across the card front, then popped my art panel over that with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I embossed another Eclectic Layers flower with Powder Pink-colored embossing paste on a scrap of Thick Whisper White card stock.  When it was dry, I cut it out with the appropriate die and then adhered it with Liquid Glue.

I ran another piece of ribbon across the whole panel – this time Powder Pink 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon – with some Fast Fuse and a Stampin’ Dimensional under the left end. My sentiment is from the Banners For You stamp set – I stamped the border image in Lemon Lime Twist and added the sentiment in Emerald Envy.  Then I cut it out with the matching die in the Bunch of Banners Framelits. and popped it over the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

On the inside, I stamped a few flowers from Oh So Eclectic in Powder Pink and Lemon-Lime Twist.  For both “fill” images, I stamped them off once on a piece of scrap before stamping the Whisper White panel.

I matted the panel on Powder Pink and added it to my Thick Whisper White card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got more Oh So Eclectic flowers on the front…

…and then added more of the Naturally Eclectic DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  There are so many things to do with this new Embossing Paste – and I love that we can color it with our ink refills, don’t you?  And I really love the entire Naturally Eclectic Suite.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! Colorful Umbrella Season

Happy Friday, y’all!  Guess we made it!  Whoo-hoo!  And I have a good friend and his family coming to visit us today!  I’m so looking forward to seeing them!

Had a miraculous thing today.

My house is clean.

But…I didn’t do it!!

Someone else did it while I worked on my real job and worked at my crafting table.

Yes.  For me that’s a miracle.

And she’s coming back in a week!!  Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooooooooo!!!!

My card for today is a combination of sneak peek and old friend!  I used some of the new Colorful Seasons stamp set, a few Umbrella Weather die cuts, and some Color Theory DSP.  Take a look-see:

My layout is inspired by the sketch at The Paper Players.

And I pulled several elements from the Card Concept inspiration photo.

I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and then I did a little emboss-resist and sponging on it.  To begin with, I inked up the small leaf from the Colorful Season stamp set (available 1 June!) with Versamark and stamped it all over the panel.  Then I quickly sprinkled it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I heated it up and let it cool.  Then I used a sponge to color the entire panel with Pool Party ink.

I switched to Tranquil Tide (avail 1 May) and sponged the edges of the panel.  Then I wiped the panel to clean the little bit of ink off of the leaves.  I SNAILd the panel to a Melon Mambo mat.  This panel is SNAILd to a Whisper White card front, which I matted on Melon Mambo, too.

For the umbrellas, I used a piece of Crushed Curry paper from the Color Theory DSP Stack (1 June).  Using the small flower cluster image in Colorful Seasons I stamped the paper a few times with Melon Mambo. Then I used the umbrella die in the Umbrella Weather Framelits that puts creases in the die cut to cut out two umbrellas.  I carefully folded the umbrellas to give them some depth.

I cut two umbrella handles from a piece of the Wood Textures DSP and snipped the ends.  Then I adhered them into the backs of the umbrellas.  Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I popped them over the embossed panel.

My sentiment, from Colorful Seasons, is stamped in Crushed Curry on a piece of Whisper White, then cut out with a die from the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  I cut a second banner from Melon Mambo and adhered the two together with Liquid Glue.  Then I popped it over the umbrellas with some Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I sponged a corner of a Whisper White panel with Crushed Curry ink and added some Colorful Seasons flowers over the top in Melon Mambo.

I SNAILd the panel to a Melon Mambo mat and into my Tranquil Tide (avail 1 May) card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some more of the Crushed Curry sponging in the corner, with the addition of the Melon Mambo Colorful Seasons flowers…

…and I added some more of the Color Theory DSP Crushed Curry paper to the envelope flap, and added more of the Colorful Seasons flowers in Melon Mambo.

Et Voila!  I love how the leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set look with the emboss-resist and the Tranquil Tide ink. And I really think the umbrellas look like the ones in the inspiration photo, don’t you??  Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…

My fierce guard dog was put to the test today!

There was a giant truck – with wings!!! – and a tail!!! – sitting square in the middle of the drive.

It.  Was.  Not.  There. The.  Day.  Before.

Highly suspicious.

He bravely approached.

He woofed.

Woofing makes his pantaloons quiver.

He was a-quiver.  😂😃😃

I turned around and he decided he’d best get in the golf cart.

He watched it the whole way.

He had my six.

Even when he had to look away for a moment to check out a squirrel…he looked back real fast.

Just in case that monster got the wrong idea!

It didn’t.

It just sat there.

Only Finn was surprised by that!

Stampin’ Up! Gingham and Succulents Birthday Card

Hey, y’all!  How goes your week?  Well, I hope!  We’re experiencing the “summer” version of Spring here.  It was 80 yesterday!  Pretty nice, but…back to working up a little sweat when doing stuff outside. And, of course, the pollen count was back in the 2400 range, so there’s that! 🙁

Today’s card uses one of my favorite Occasions Catalog goodies – the Succulent Garden Suite.  I made a couple of succulent plants with the Succulent Framelits and added it over some gingham Succulent Garden DSP (now available as a free Sale-A-Bration item!).  Take a look-see:

The layout for this card comes from the Freshly Made Sketches challenge this week.

And the color palette and inspiration for the succulents came from the Sunday Stamps challenge.

I started by SNAILing a piece of Succulent Garden DSP to an Elegant Eggplant mat.  Over that, I used some Liquid Glue to adhere a length of 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon.  And then I used a couple of Glue Dots to wind and secure several large loops of Copper Metallic Thread.

For the large plant, I cut two of each size of the “flowers” in the Succulent Framelits.  I used Wild Wasabi for the larger petals and Pear Pizzazz for the smaller ones.  Using my Sponge Dauber, I sponged the edges of the Wild Wasabi petals in Elegant Eggplant and the edges of the Pear Pizzazz with Watermelon Wonder.  Then I very lightly curled the tips of the petals with my Bone Folder and used Liquid Glue to stack them up.

The smaller plant is cut from Mint Macaron and sponged with Rich Razzleberry ink.

I adhered the large plant over the loops of Copper Metallic Thread with Liquid Glue, then popped the smaller one on with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

The sentiment, from the Oh So Succulent stamp set, is inked in Versamark – I only inked the words Happy Birthday (the rest of the sentiment is on the inside!) – and heat embossed it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder.  I cut it out with the little banner die in the Bunch of Banners Fraemlits, snipped off the right end and adhered it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

Finally, I added a couple of the little banners from the Oh So Succulent set.  I stamped the image twice in Versamark on Whisper White, sprinkled them with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heated them.  I fussy cut them both, snipped them in half, and used Liquid Glue to adhere them into the large plant.

On the inside, I stamped “a very special person” from the sentiment in the Oh So Succulent stamp set in Rich Razzleberry on a Whisper White panel.  Then I inked just the word “to”, covered the rest of the stamp with a couple of sticky notes and added that to the front of the sentiment.  I added a Mint Macaron succulent from the set – stamping the outline image in full strength and the fill in in stamped-off-once Mint Macaron.  I covered the flower with a sticky note mask and added smaller Wild Wasabi plants (again stamping off the fill-in image).

I SNAILd the panel to an Elegant Eggplant mat and into my Tip Top Taupe card base, SNAILd the card front on, and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got a repeat of the Oh So Succulent plants in Mint Macaron and Wild Wasabi on the front…

…and more of the Succulent Garden DSP on the envelope flap!

Et Voila!  Big, bold, beautiful succulent plants are so fun and easy to make with this bundle!  And – oh by the way – don’t forget that you can get this pretty Succulent Garden DSP free for Sale-A-Bration with a $50 order.  Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

I seem to be stuck on ponding stories for my little man this week.  Can’t help it very much – he’s so danged cute when he’s playing in the pond.

He’s all “boy”, there’s no doubt about it.

He’s found himself a little puddle right by the pond – with about 3″ of water and probably 12″ of sucking, brown, slimy and oh-so-stinky mud.  And he thinks that’s just the bomb-diggity to play in.  Especially when one of those water skimmer bugs is in it – that just torches his prey-drive into high gear!  The pouncing and diving and crouching to leap….means he gets mud from tip to toe.

Today he escalated the muddy water quotient in pond-bee (that’s what we call playing frisbee anywhere near the pond these days).  Today he discovered that…the frisbee sinks…

…after several attempts to grab it by sticking his face in the water, he realized that if he just stepped on it…

Boom!  There it was!

One might think the next step is to bring the pond-bee back to mom to throw again!

Maybe.

And…maybe not!  Several times he just dropped it back in the water.

Guess he wanted to see if his theory of pond-bee pop-up-ability was correct, or if it was just a fluke.

Stampin’ Up! Basket Bunch Swirly Scribbles Thank You!

Merry Monday, y’all!  I decided to try “Merry” instead of “happy”.  Yes, I know it’s practically the same thing, but…I’m just trying something different!

If you joined me last night for my video tutorial/workshop, thank you!  We had 4 or 5 ladies making a card along with me on a Facebook Live video. I hope y’all had fun – I know I did!  And you got to sort of meet Finn! 🙂  If you didn’t get to watch the video…here’s a link to it on YouTube!

This one uses the Basket Builder Bundle and a little bit of Swirly Scribbles.  Take a look-see:

This is the card I made last night – it’s got the Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine that’s not retired! 😉

My layout was inspired by the challenge over at CAS(E) This Sketch:

And my color scheme is from the My Favorite Things color challenge..

I started by embossing a Whisper White panel in the Petal Burst TIEF and then SNAILing it to an Island Indigo mat.

I used the large die in the Swirly Scribbles Framelits to make the wreath, cutting two from Island Indigo card stock.  Hint – watch the YouTube video to see a card-stock-saving tip! 🙂

I adhered the two wreaths to the card front – offsetting them a little to give it a little more “oomph” – with Liquid Glue.

The carrots are from the Basket Bunch stamp set and matching Basket Builder Framelits.  I stamped three carrots in Tangerine Tango ink on Tangerine Tango card stock and two in Pumpkin Pie ink on Pumpkin Pie card stock.  Then I cut the carrots out with the matching die in the Basket Builder Frameltis.  I also cut – at the same time, by stacking the card stock! – Pear Pizzazz carrots.

Using my Paper Snips, I cut the “tops” off the carrots and then used Liquid Glue to adhere them to the Pear Pizzazz carrots – giving us…green carrot tops! 🙂

I used Liquid Glue – on just the back of the carrot tops – to adhere three carrots at the top of the wreath.  Then I tied a bow with three strands of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine and adhered it with a Glue Dot.

I stamped the sentiment from the Basket Bunch stamp set in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White and cut it with the little banner die in the Bunch of Banners Framelits.  Then I popped it onto the wreath with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!

On the inside, I stamped a second Basket Bunch sentiment in Cherry Cobbler on a Whisper White panel, then I adhered the remaining two carrots with Liquid Glue.

I SNAILd the panel to an Island Indigo mat and into my Tangerine Tango card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done!

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got three little Basket Bunch carrots in Tangerine Tango/Pear Pizzazz and Pumpkin Pie/Pear Pizzazz on the front…

…and a whole bunch of them on the envelope flap.  I used my Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Write Marker to color all the carrots.

Et Voila!  This is a quick and easy card to make using the so-cute Basket Bunch bundle and some of the oh-so-versatile Swirly Scribbles Framelits.  Give the video a quick watch for some tips and tricks to make it go quick!  Hope you like!

FINN-FAN FIX….

Finn’s going to be a hot dog during the summer.

I can already see it.  He does pretty good in the morning when it’s cool, but in the afternoon, he’s happy to jump on the golf cart to get the mail or pu the garbage out.   He’s smart, though.  He finds shade to lay in whenever he can – unlike Buck who used to lay out flat on the ground with the sun baking him!

Finn also uses the pond.

A lot!

Even in the morning!  He’s taken to running after the frisbee, then detouring into the pond on the way back to me.  He drops the frisbee, does his ponding, then (mostly!) picks up the frisbee and brings it back to me.

Dripping all the way!

Sometimes he forgets where he dropped the frisbee.  Oops.

FINN-FAN FIX….

Spring is springing!

The Canadian Geese are returning.

The Dogwood trees are glowing bright in the woods!

The trucks are covered in yellow pollen.

And – our first hummingbird of the season was on my feeder last night!!

No.  Really.  That’s him – in the yellow circle.  That’s a picture thru my window and window screen.  At dusk.

Not like I could go out the back door and get a really good shot – hello?

I was so excited to see him – I’ve had the feeder out for about 10 days now, just in case a scout came by.

Finn was very excited, too.

Not really.  He just sat and watched politely while I tried to get any sort of picture of the little bird.

He was ready to go do the ponies.  Work to do, Mom, we’ve got work to do!  And – it’s bird, for cryin’ out loud!! 😉

Stampin’ Up! Avant Garden Banner Thanks

Good Monday morning, y’all!  Another week begins!  We got our Christmas tree…half way down this weekend.  Too cold to get the big tree box out of the garage store room.  So it sits in white-lighted splendor.  Nekkid but for the lights.  I wish I had room to leave it up all year – I love the lights so much!!

I’ve mentioned that it’s cold.  By which I mean ridiculously cold.  Unless you’re an Australian Shepherd.

finn-on-the-porch-in-the-sunshine
I invited him back in three times.  He politely declined!  Just sittin’ in the sun, enjoying the day.  While mom freezes her hindquarters off (I wish!) trying to get him back in.

“Me.  It’s all about me!  Even have a picture frame that says so.  They love me so much…”

He did finally come in – even a fur-ball finally gets a little chilly!

So ever since our non-snow-lots-of-ice event of 2017, I’ve been thinking on this picture I took.

icy-tree-limb
I wanted to make a card inspired by this icy branch, so…I pulled out the Falling in Love DSP and used the design that is a…well – icy branch!  And I embellished it with some Copper embossed Avant Garden (free in the Sale-A-Bration flyer) flowers and a couple of sentiments from Banners for You.  Take a look-see:

avant-garden-banners-4-stamps-n-lingers
I used the Freshly Made Sketches challenge for my layout inspiration.

fms-269-sketch
To begin, I cut a small panel of Vellum card stock for my artwork.  I rubbed it a bit with my Embossing Buddy, then stamped the Avant Garden flower twice in Versamark.  I sprinkled it with Copper Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed the image.  I lightly colored the flowers with my Sweet Sugarplum Stampin’ Write Marker, and the leaves with Pear Pizzazz.

avant-garden-banners-8-stamps-n-lingers
I adhered the embossed panel to a piece of Falling In Love DSP – using Liquid Glue only behind the embossed image to hide it.  Then I wrapped a piece of Very Vanilla 1/4″ Satin Ribbon around the panel – being sure that the edge of the Vellum was trapped under it.  Next came a piece of Blushing Bride 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon, with a piece of Very Vanilla 1/2″ Lace Trim over the top, wrapped around the panel and secured in the back with scotch tape.

avant-garden-banners-2-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the whole thing to a mat of Blushing Bride card stock.

My sentiment is from the Banners For You stamp set, stamped in Sweet Sugarplum on a piece of Very Vanilla and cut with a die from the Bunch of Banners Framelits set.  I used my Blushing Bride Stampin’ Write Marker to edge the banner, and secured it to the card front with Liquid Glue.

I embellished the sentiment with a Classy Designer Button, adhered with Liquid Glue, and a small bow from Blushing Bride Solid Baker’s Twine.  To finish the card front, I added a few Pearl Basic Jewels.

avant-garden-banners-1-stamps-n-lingers
On the inside, I added a second sentiment from Banners for You in Sweet Sugarplum to a Very Vanilla panel.  Across the bottom, I stamped a couple of images from the Delicate Details stamp set (also a free Sale-A-Bration item!) in Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand.

avant-garden-banners-5-stamps-n-lingers
I SNAILd the panel to a Blushing Bride mat and into my Sahara Sand card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals, and the card was done!

For my Very Vanilla Medium Envelope, I stamped two more Avant Garden flowers in Sahara Sand on the front.  Then I used my Blender Pens to color the flowers with Sweet Sugarplum and Blushing Bride ink, and the leaves with Pear Pizzazz…

avant-garden-banners-6-stamps-n-lingers
…and I added more of the Falling in Love DSP to the envelope flap.

avant-garden-banners-7-stamps-n-lingers
Et Voila!  We’ve got some very very pretty stamp sets in the Sale-A-Bration flyer this time, don’t you think?  I love the flowers in the Avant Garden set and they go so nicely on the Falling in Love DSP.  Hope you like!

Stampin’ Up! My Hero Makes Christmas in July Merry!

Good morning, y’all!  As I type this, it’s thundering outside, maybe getting a splatter of rain.  Well…I went and closed my cracked-so-the-little-Soul-doesn’t-explode-in-the-heat-windows, so it won’t actually rain, I’m sure! 😉

Since I’m not at home, there haven’t been many Duck Duck updates – sorry about that (she’s become something of a celebrity….).  But yesterday, while Wayne was feeding the horses, I was on the phone with him, so I got a bit of an update.

Right from the Goose’s beak, so to speak.

Apparently he was wasting a lot of time giving the ponies a cool shower when they came in the barn.  And she was giving him H-E-DOUBLE-HOCKEY-STICKS for it, too.  And his phone headset (Wayne’s – Duck Duck doesn’t have a phone of her own.  Yet) was picking up every word!  So I could hear her griping and moaning and complaining, and him laughing and telling her he was coming….it was quite the cacophony in my ear, I can tell you!  Then I got to listen as he tried to get her to go out of the barn ahead of him – we obviously need a very low energy Australian Sheperd to help us help her to not get run over!  She’s quite content to be right underfoot!

I miss the goose.

Which is one of the weirdest statements I’ve ever written…. 😉

So, let’s get on with some card making, shall we?

This one is another Christmas in July card.  I was playing with challenges and the design teams like the theme.  I combined the Ronald McDonald charity stamp set called My Hero (check it out on page 209 of the catalog – it’s got lots of fun images, covering a myriad of occasions – and SU! will give $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) for each set sold!) and the Host-exclusive set called Time of Year.  Take a look-see:
