Happy Friday, y’all! Guess we made it! Whoo-hoo! And I have a good friend and his family coming to visit us today! I’m so looking forward to seeing them!
Had a miraculous thing today.
My house is clean.
But…I didn’t do it!!
Someone else did it while I worked on my real job and worked at my crafting table.
Yes. For me that’s a miracle.
And she’s coming back in a week!! Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo-hooooooooo!!!!
My card for today is a combination of sneak peek and old friend! I used some of the new Colorful Seasons stamp set, a few Umbrella Weather die cuts, and some Color Theory DSP. Take a look-see:
My layout is inspired by the sketch at The Paper Players.
And I pulled several elements from the Card Concept inspiration photo.
I started with a piece of Whisper White card stock and then I did a little emboss-resist and sponging on it. To begin with, I inked up the small leaf from the Colorful Season stamp set (available 1 June!) with Versamark and stamped it all over the panel. Then I quickly sprinkled it with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder. I heated it up and let it cool. Then I used a sponge to color the entire panel with Pool Party ink.
I switched to Tranquil Tide (avail 1 May) and sponged the edges of the panel. Then I wiped the panel to clean the little bit of ink off of the leaves. I SNAILd the panel to a Melon Mambo mat. This panel is SNAILd to a Whisper White card front, which I matted on Melon Mambo, too.
For the umbrellas, I used a piece of Crushed Curry paper from the Color Theory DSP Stack (1 June). Using the small flower cluster image in Colorful Seasons I stamped the paper a few times with Melon Mambo. Then I used the umbrella die in the Umbrella Weather Framelits that puts creases in the die cut to cut out two umbrellas. I carefully folded the umbrellas to give them some depth.
I cut two umbrella handles from a piece of the Wood Textures DSP and snipped the ends. Then I adhered them into the backs of the umbrellas. Using Stampin’ Dimensionals, I popped them over the embossed panel.
My sentiment, from Colorful Seasons, is stamped in Crushed Curry on a piece of Whisper White, then cut out with a die from the Bunch of Banners Framelits. I cut a second banner from Melon Mambo and adhered the two together with Liquid Glue. Then I popped it over the umbrellas with some Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card front was done!
On the inside, I sponged a corner of a Whisper White panel with Crushed Curry ink and added some Colorful Seasons flowers over the top in Melon Mambo.
I SNAILd the panel to a Melon Mambo mat and into my Tranquil Tide (avail 1 May) card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.
My Whisper White Medium Envelope got some more of the Crushed Curry sponging in the corner, with the addition of the Melon Mambo Colorful Seasons flowers…
…and I added some more of the Color Theory DSP Crushed Curry paper to the envelope flap, and added more of the Colorful Seasons flowers in Melon Mambo.
Et Voila! I love how the leaves from the Colorful Seasons stamp set look with the emboss-resist and the Tranquil Tide ink. And I really think the umbrellas look like the ones in the inspiration photo, don’t you?? Hope you like!

Finn-Fan Fix…
My fierce guard dog was put to the test today!
There was a giant truck – with wings!!! – and a tail!!! – sitting square in the middle of the drive.
It. Was. Not. There. The. Day. Before.
Highly suspicious.
He bravely approached.
He woofed.
Woofing makes his pantaloons quiver.
He was a-quiver. 😂😃😃
I turned around and he decided he’d best get in the golf cart.
He watched it the whole way.
He had my six.
Even when he had to look away for a moment to check out a squirrel…he looked back real fast.
Just in case that monster got the wrong idea!
It didn’t.
It just sat there.
Only Finn was surprised by that!

Can’t wait to get my hands and cutter on that beautiful DSP! It’s wonderful to have someone clean your house for you. That happens to me every two weeks. You and Finn could write a book together 🙂
I do like the Color Theory paper! I don’t think Finn is going to be much help in the writing department. He’s more like color commentary! Thanks, Karen! 🙂
Very pretty card Mary! The umbrellas are awesome and I love the sponged background. Having your house clean and not having to do it yourself is the most awesome thing! 😀 Woohoo!!
Yep – it was like Christmas. That will happen every week!! Thanks much, Amy! 🙂
Well…your nice card is entirely overshadowed by your Finn story! You have a book almost ready if you just combine them…and it’s already illustrated. Also am happy you are to have company, and that FINALLY you have decided to let someone else do the drudge work. Time. 😃
Yes – was a long time coming, but…she worked like two dogs. Lovely to have a clean house. Thanks, Mom! 🙂
You are hilarious! Love the Finn story! You created a wonderful scene with that emboss resist. I have never tried it, but it is wonderful!
Thanks – I’m a card! See what I did there?!? Thanks so much, Jari – give it a shot! 🙂
Yes, you are a card! And, your card is pretty special. At first, I wasn’t sure I liked the color combo, but it grew on me and I do like it. Must try the emboss resist. Enjoy your company. Did the company have anything to do with the thing with wings and a tail? I had to laugh at thinking of Finn all aquiver.
Thanks, Julie – it’s definitely bright, but…I ended up liking the colors a lot! I love when his pantaloon quiver. Makes me laugh every time! 🙂
