Stampin’ Up! Colorful Graceful Garden

Morning, all!  Welcome to the weekend – hope you’ve got some fun plans and that the weather is going to be nice for you!

I thought after a few days of what looked like complex, multi-step projects, that you might be ready for a super quick, super simple – but super pretty card!

So – I pulled out the new Graceful Garden stamp set and the Artistically Asian stamp set, plus some Color Theory DSP – and gave you exactly that.  Take a look-see:

I took some inspiration from the sketch challenge at CAS(E) This Sketch.

Hang on – cuz this one is quick-quick!!

I took a piece of the Berry Burst paper from the Color Theory DSP Stack and stamped the large and lovely rose from the Graceful Garden stamp set in Basic Black Archival Ink in the middle of the panel.

I cut an oval from the middle of the panel using an Oval Layering Framelits die.  Then I SNAILd the remainder of the panel to a Basic Black mat.

I wrapped a length of new Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon around the card front, securing it in the back with scotch tape.

I cut a scalloped oval with a slightly larger Ovals Layering Framelit die in Basic Black and SNAILd the DSP oval to it.

Before adding the oval to the card front, I used my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to align and stamp the sentiment from Artistically Asian in Basic Black Archival Ink.  Then I popped the matted oval onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals, making sure to line the image up with the card front.

I tied a bow from the Black Shimmer Ribbon and adhered it with a Glue Dot and the card front was done.  Told ya!

On the inside, I stamped a smaller image from Graceful Garden in Basic Black Archival Ink on a Whisper White panel.  Using a Blender Pen and picking up ink from the lid of my Berry Burst ink pad, I colored the flower.  I used all Berry Burst to mirror the image on the front.  When you do this – color the whole image quickly with the color.  Then add some deeper color in the same parts of the image where the Stampin’ Up! designers added the blending for you.  Easy Peasy!

I SNAILd the panel to a Basic Black mat and into my Berry Burst card base, popped the card front on with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the card was done.

My Whisper White Medium Envelope got another of the Graceful Garden roses on the front…

…and I added a little more of the Color Theory DSP to the envelope flap.

Et Voila!  I think Graceful Garden is a lovely set and you could easily modify the sentiment to make it whatever you needed – sympathy, get well, thinking of you…whatever.  Change the color – the Color Theory DSP has Old Olive, Dapper Denim, Crushed Curry and Berry Burst – pair each of them with Basic Black!  What a wonderful set of cards that would make.  Hope you like!

  1. I don’t even remember seeing that stamp set in the catalog. You are great at bringing sleepers to the forefront for me. Again, your coloring/shading is spot on. Do you ever work with Copics?

    • Thanks so much, Karen! I haven’t done much with Copics. I was starting to try my hand with the alchohol Blendabilities before we stopped carrying them. To be honest, when my coloring is spot on – it’s usually a fluke! 😉

  2. Kate

Beautiful. The design AND the sentiment!

  3. Just beautiful Mary! The CAS design is perfect, love your use of that DSP! 🙂

  4. Ellie Peckler

I really like this card, Mary. Berry Burst is my favorite New In Color and the Color Theory is my favorite new DSP. And I do appreciate a simple but awesome card now and again! – Ellie

Wow! And it looks so complicated. Even I could do this one quickly (I think!) Great use of the DSP!

  6. Beautiful take on the sketch!
